Remember a decade ago when gritty retellings of fairy tales were all the rage in Hollywood? Well, one I actually would’ve liked to see is a revenge flick about a grown Pinocchio, now a flesh-and-blood badass, hunting down the villains from the original story and hopefully freeing all those kids from Pleasure Island in the process.

Compulsus' novel approach to revenge film is both fresh and a new take on a subgenre whose dependence on its formula is just as much a barrier as a comfort. (Not to mention, it does a great job of presenting the potential success of a revenge film that doesn't rely on displaying its assaults).
