Suspiciously autistic things about Alec Hardy
because i'm rewatching broadchurch for the first time in 8 years and having a Moment about why, exactly, this show made such an impression on me
Has literally no regard for his own boundaries. Like, none whatsoever. You could say he's just a self-loathing bastard, which I guess he is, but the extremes he's going to aren't very neurotypical if you ask me
We never see him talk to people outside work, or at least outside of an "I need you/you need me so that's why we're talking"-type of situation. This man has no way how to initiate social contact; I'm not even sure if he feels like he needs it at all.
Ellie's dinner! Literally everything about it, from the invitation to that whole evening, screams autism. Like the way he decided to bring her three presents because he didn't know what would be appropriate, the fact that he continues to call her Miller because apparently he sees no reason to change out of office formalities for a casual dinner.
I'm pretty sure this man doesn't know the definition of casual in general. Evidenced by the fact that he wears a suit (which I'm pretty sure is always the same suit?) literally anywhere he goes. On- or off-duty.
Oh and continuing on the dinner: the way he drinks the wine he didn't want, probably thinking "eh, won't kill me" only for it to almost kill him? Another example that he really doesn't know his own boundaries.
Very very good at his job, because he's analytical and methodical. Not that good with the actual people he has to deal with, because a methodical approach tends not to work with real human beings.
He's extremely good at looking at things from an impersonal angle, and seems to be unable to understand why other people (Ellie!) can't separate themselves from an investigation.
Just really stubborn in general. The way he does things is best, period. (Debatable, but absolutely not for him)
He's extremely blunt and either doesn't care much that people dislike him for this, or doesn't understand why they would
The scene in s2 where he finds Ellie crying in the restroom and awkwardly offers her a hug (because that's what people do in these situations, right?) which she declines because it's not like him? Yeah.
He has a very strong sense of justice. Which I guess most (good) detectives have, but the way he felt like he had to do penance for how the Sandbrook case ended and still kept working on it, really shows how he goes above and beyond for justice, compared to what others would probably do.
(to be continued probably, because I've only watched s1 and two episodes of s2 for now)

The thing about S1 Jamie that I think is interesting is I think on rewatch there is some insight as to why Jamie went so hard on the bullying of Sam. (Not gonna be defending Jamie's treatment of Sam just looking into maybe why). Because out of all of the things Jamie did is season one. The one that seems hardest to understand or really forgive is his treatment of Sam. The first time around, you couldn't understand it. Sam is legitimately the kindest man in existence. (I know as a stroyteller it was the easiest way to really get us to dislike Jamie and really make us more understanding of Roy's treatment of Jamie which to be frank is not great and understand Ted's fruatrations with him) and Sam just keeps trying with Jamie.
But know I think it far to say thay S1 Jamie was jealous of Sam and his easy going, happy, postive nature. I dont think he was aware of it though.
Season 1 Jamie is so interesting because on paper, he had everything he thought he wanted. But I dint think he was overally happy. But yeah it seemed to be all his way
1. He played for the team he grew up supporting and dreamed of playing for. I imagine his first time stepping on that fiels in that uniform would have been monumental. Sure, maybe he wasn't a starter, but he got some minutes and the unspken agreement that in a few years, he would be a star.
2. I imagine he was initially disappointed to be loaned out, but then he learns he is being loaned to Richmond. Yeah they suck, but he gets to play a full 90 minutes, is basically going to be the best player, kick most of thier goals and he gets to be team mates with Roy Kent (he dreamed of playing against him one day, with him is a dream come true, I really think pre show Jamie would have been so excited to play with Roy Kent and was so disappointed in how it turned out). Plus, it has the added advantage of getting him away from his dad. And once his done his loan, he can come back to Manchester. This is his chance to get away from it for a while and be the star
3. He meets and gets to date Keely Jones who his always had a crush on. Dhe is literally a dream girl for him
So he should be happy right. His got everything he wanted, but it's not going the way he expected because.....
1. Roy Kent hates him (in my mind Roy was standoffish from the start, heres come this whizkid who was everything he used to be and slowly losing. I think Jamie came in at 100% and immediatley put Roy on the back foot). Jamie tries with Roy but the more it doesnt work the more Jamie goes OK, if I cant make him like me I will show him I am better than him. Hence the beginning of that relationship.
2. Yeah his away from his dad and his killing it at Richmond, scoring their goals, winning them matches but it only seems to be winning over half the team (he can't see yet his attitude is what is stopping the other guys from liking him). And the team still isn't doing great even with him. Plus he may be away from his Dad but his relationship with his mum feels like it in a werid place which sucks cause she is his favourite person ever.
3. And Keeley seems to be where its going right but sometimes it feels like his a bit of a project for her. And I think he has heard people (like Roy) question why she is with him.
And let's face it, he is still likely hearing from his dad when he doesn't perform up to his standards.
And then heres Sam. Who (at this point in time) isn't playing well, isn't scoring goals, not massively contributing to thier wins and yet he seems so genuinely happy all the time and everyone loves him, Roy Kent seems to like him and is friendly with him, complimenting him (which he has never done to Jamie). Sam is so open and kind he has probably talked about his dad in the locker room, and his relationship with his family seems perfect and that must gnaw at Jamie because all he ever wanted is to make his dad proud and his pretty sure he will never achieve it because the man is a d***k who is impossoble to please, yet Jamie never stops trying and things are werid with his mum which he hates. But all he hears when its brought up from Sam is how great his family is.
Then along comes the new gaffer who Jamie can't even understand why he is coaching, but he also seems to love Sam and wants him to be the decoy so Sam can kick the goal. Even though Jamie knows if he kicks it, it will go in.
Now we all know the reason Sam is liked is because he is an amazing, kind hearted, dedicated person, but I think S1 Jamie is so jealous and does not even know it.
Because S1 Jamie is still living with the notion that being the best in the most important thing ( thank you James Tartt Sr) so to Jamie he is out here busting his ass at training to be the best, scoring all the goals yet Sam seems to be the one who is living what he thought his dream time at Richmond was going to be. And I know I mention it but I think it is a big thing for Jamie, the harder he tries the more Roy seems to despise him, and take enjoyment in his embarrassment.
And S1 Jamie in all maturity handles his jealously by trying to make Sam feel as bad as he is feeling. Which Jamie, baby. That's kindergarten mentality. And poor Sam actually thinks Jamie is a great player and would love to learn from him in the beginning and isnt having a great time either.
But yeah. I dont think Jamie ever disliked Sam. I think he was insanly jealous of him all the time and didn't know how to handle that or even admit it himself.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. Apologies for my rambles.

Talk to me about s2 supremacy. Spare no details.
thank you for asking and allowing me to gush 💕
maybe most importantly: it still has that early seasons 2000s vibe with flip phones and tape decks and newspaper articles and wide angle shots and americana and grainy film and desaturated colors and grittiness and loose layered working class clothing and shitty motels and grungy bars and this rough edge to everything
another main point is that it finds the perfect balance between monster of the week episodes and a season-encompassing story/myth arc by generally combining the two when necessary, unlike some of the later seasons
an overarching theme is the morality of hunting and whether or not truly every “monster” is really evil or deserves to die: “what if we killed things that didn't deserve killing?” (bloodlust, the usual suspects, croatoan, hunted, born under a bad sign, roadkill, heart) which plays into my next point
the pacing of the season works really well to set up everything about the season finale: sam's storyline with simon said, croatoan, hunted, born under a bad sign; and dean selling his soul, first through john’s deal with azazel, then with children shouldn't play with dead things (“what's dead should stay dead” / “when someone's gone they should stay gone. you don't mess with that kind of stuff”) and crossroad blues (“i think you did it for yourself. so you wouldn’t have to live without her”) and somewhat in croatoan where he's ready to die with sam
literally every single episode is a certified banger in my opinion. i can only think of 2 episodes that didn’t hit the mark too well for me personally but every other one i could rewatch endlessly, and those two still objectively have merit within the framework of the show/season
i won’t talk about each and every ep, but specifically the entirety of playthings, one of the most, if not THE quintessential, gothic episodes of the show. immaculate vibes.
the usual suspects, which shows how well sam and dean work together without even being in the same room and just how generally Weird they can be to outsiders, as well as continuing the theme of “demons i get / people are crazy” which was first set up in s1
as well as the entirety of what is and what should never be. no further explanation necessary i think.
also sam and dean look really nice
cinematography is on. point. the entire time. these shots alone from 2.09 and 2.04. museum worthy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sam and dean’s relationship is just. sublime. “we were just starting to be brothers again” (2.01) – “he's the only one who gets to call me [sammy]” (2.03) – “you make a move on him, you'll be dead before you hit the ground” (2.09) – “if i ever turn into something that i'm not you have to kill me” (2.11) – “i can't, i'd rather die” (2.14) – “i thought it was supposed to, to be this perfect fantasy” / “it wasn't” / “we never went hunting and you and me just never, uh... you know” (2.20) – “i had to look out for you. that's my job” / “and what do you think my job is?” (2.22)
without taking the focus off the brothers as its core or feeling suffocating, s2 introduces more recurring supporting characters (bobby... kind of, as a rollover from the s1 finale; jo, ellen, ash, gabriel, victor henriksen, gordon walker) and expands on the monster lore, lending some depth to the spn universe before it begins to really ramp up with heaven and hell etc. from s3 onwards
the music was so good, too, although that’s true for other seasons as well. from ‘bad moon rising’ playing on the radio after the car crash in 2.01 and ending with ‘don’t look back’ in 2.22 and everything inbetween; dean singing along to ‘can’t fight this feeling’ in 2.05, ‘hellhound on my trail’ in 2.08, ‘renegade’ in 2.12, ‘back on the road again’ in 2.14, ‘house of the rising sun’ in 2.16, ‘silent lucidity’ in 2.17, ‘rooster’ in 2.19, ‘americana’ playing during sam’s death etc.
they just... did not hold back in all hell breaks loose part 1. earth shattering.
Tumblr media
season 2 is funny (hollywood babylon, “maybe the spirits are trying to shut down the movie cause they think it sucks”) and heartbreaking (all hell breaks loose) and silly (tall tales) and deep (what is and what should never be) and philosophical (houses of the holy) and tragic (heart) and creepy (croatoan and pretty much all the rest) and intelligent (the usual suspects) and beautiful to me 💛

Dragons Rising Rant
I WAS NOT READY for season 2 part 1
(I'm spoiling pretty much everything below the cut)
This was everything I wanted and more (not to say it doesn't have its issues, but still)
I know some people were grumbling about Lloyd taking Zane's role of being the vision haver but I honestly like how they handled it. Because it feels an awful lot like a PTSD allegory. Like, Arin is literally like "you've been through a lot, maybe it's catching up to you" or smthn like that, the visions showing up at random and inconvenient times during the day, being unavoidable but they can be lived with, panic attacks, so am I the only one seeing this??? This does some interesting things to my Lloyd PTSD headcanons... another thing is the two people that have had visions are the two most likely people to have PTSD imo, so... there's that...
Lloyd verbally acknowledges having panic attacks which caught me so off guard for a show to sell toys to eight year old boys. It wasn't like puss and boots level of panic attacks, definitely not given that much focus, but it was there. Lloyd canonically has panic attacks!!
I know it's a kid's show, but I feel like they could have handled the sleep deprivation a bit better than "Lloyd is falling asleep all the time," like there's so many other ways you could convey that, at least vary it a bit. They hammer this point into the ground and I feel like kids aren't that dense, and would understand it even with half of the random falling asleep replaced with irritability, zoning out, or other stuff like that idk.
I WAS NOT READY for Kai to get sacrificed. When they were talking about human sacrifices I was like "nah ninjago would never go that far, that pretty much confirms that either the sacrifices aren't actually necessary or the forbidden five don't get brought back," then Kai literally gets sent to the backrooms with no way out.
And Bonzle. BONZLE. Need I say more? Wish she had gotten more focus though. The sorceress felt like a d&d oc shoved in last minute though, and her design was so chaotic it was distracting from the show for me. Probably just me though, I like order. She's fun, I just wish they'd either given her an arc or given that focus to Bonzle.
Internally screaming when Nya says "Jay would never forget me" and when Jay showed up. I really hope they give him enough time to shine.
Ras literally runs and catches up to a moving car and knocks out a dragon in a single hit. Bros insane. I guess the blood moon just makes him physically stronger? They didn't really elaborate what the blood moon does to Ras and why. But he's an actually competent villain, which Ninjago is in short supply of.
Cole literally said "Come at me (bro)" to the Administration.
Speaking of Cole, Geo misses him!! I'm way overhyped for this couple, but this is the closest thing we'll get to a canon gay couple in ninjago. Lego doesn't have the balls to actually show them kissing or being a couple, not with their show that gets aired all over the world to sell legos. I'm gonna go rewatch the land of lost things episode from s1 later.
The timeline is even more messed up now though. If Cole only just returned, when were the Mech Pilot shorts supposed to happen? We'll see what the creators say on Twitter lol.
Ending this off on a positive note, the found family is gonna kill me. Arin literally seeing Lloyd and Nya as his parents was gold. Oh man Ras slammed the poor boy around a lot, physically and mentally. Just let both Arin and Sora realize they're not useless. Nahhh the angst is too good.
Is there more? Probably. But I need to do my calculus coursework...

hi hello tumblr dot com, can we unpack will and hannibal’s character introductions?
trick question and I don’t care: we’re unpacking this whether you like it or not <3
for the people who wanted to be tagged here you are: @forgivenessishisdesign @kitzual
so anyway last night I rewatched apéritif and now that I know how the series ends a lot of small details stuck out to me. there’s so much content to pick apart that I’m actually losing my mind a little so I’m gonna divide my thoughts into two parts because this is going to be long. first we’ll do will’s introduction, then in the next post I’ll write about hannibal’s
EDIT: you can find part two (hannibal’s introduction) here :)
with that being said, let’s get started
will:
as far as character introductions go, will’s is so perfect to me that I need to dedicate some time just to infodump about it. let it be known that I am obsessed with this scene. there is so much packed into literally only four or so minutes and it’s glorious
funnily enough it’s pretty simple: the scene opens with a flashback. will is depicted recreating a crime scene using his empathy disorder (although audiences are not aware of his empathy yet) and ends with him returning to the present, where he’s lecturing his students about psychoanalysing serial killers, using the case as an example. that’s it. but the scene does everything it needs to do
Tumblr media
an effective opening should tell you:
1) the rules/qualities of the world (which can either be exceedingly normal or very bizarre depending on the nature of the story’s subtext and extended metaphor)
2) the protagonist’s worldview, thus foreshadowing the nature of their arc
3) depict theme and raise thematic questions
4) and set-up the climax of the story, which should ideally mirror the opening so that we’re left with a circular narrative
by opening with will’s empathy we are immediately shown that this is a normal part of the story-world even if it’s fantastical by nature. it’s something will can do and that’s just how it is. it’s important that this is the first thing we see because his empathy serves a plot, character, thematic, and genre purpose. it’s a device, as well as an integral part of the show’s subtext and extended metaphor. it automatically puts him on an axis between empathy and psychopathy, or rather, humanity and monstrosity. even before we’re introduced to hannibal himself this is clear through a study of visual contrasts, since in the same instance we’re introduced to the concept of “empathy”, will is taking on the role of the killer, coldly explaining how he murdered the victims bleeding out at his feet. this is the first murder we see in the show, meaning, by proxy, will is the first “killer” we see as well, even if he’s just recreating the scene. we never see who killed mrs marlow, and so the only impression we have of this killer is will’s face. this sets up the structure of s1, since each murder reveals more about will himself, but I digress
Tumblr media
and sure, the precision of his empathy is exaggerated and unrealistic, but we believe it a) because it’s the first thing we learn about him and is an unquestionable part of the story-world and its logic and b) because it adheres to its genre (crime/gothic horror). the gothic horror aspect in particular justifies the phantasmagoric, almost supernatural nature of will’s empathy, as well as it’s visual aesthetic (it’s represented through a hypnotic, pendulum type swinging motion). the gothic deals with topics of transgression, the unnatural or unexplainable, and most importantly the unknown. even if the show’s gothic elements aren’t exactly clear yet, the opening certainly maintains this tone. it’s why when the show moves away from the standard crime procedural structure, it’s not exactly jarring or beyond audience expectations (even unconscious ones)
Tumblr media
but in all honesty, what really stands out about this scene is what will tells his students after. there are five elements fixed into the few lines he says (which I’ve highlighted below) and it’s all that’s needed to tie the scene back to theme and the show’s main through line
Tumblr media
the first thing will says after he’s finished recreating the crime scene, returning to the present and leaving the killer’s mind, is “everyone has thought about killing someone, one way or another.” if the initial flashback worked to place empathy and psychopathy on a conceptual axis, paradoxically blurring the line by contrasting what we know about will vs what we see of will, then the above dialogue blurs everything even further. according to will’s worldview he, and as a result normal people in general, all think monstrous things. therefore, we all have the capacity to understand monsters
to will, humanity is not divorced from monstrosity
this is immediately followed by “be it your hand or the hand of god” introducing a new dimension for us to work with: man vs monster vs god. this gives his initial worldview a righteous edge. here we have a character who understands humanity’s capacity for violent thought, but it’s rendered through a type of divine justice. for him, there must be reason and meaning behind violence. better still, he would prefer it to be righteous. this of course sets up much of his dynamic with hannibal. they talk about religion a lot in the show. lines that immediately come to mind are “killing must feel good to god, he does it all the time” “is this meal an act of god, will?” “did god feel good about that? (violence)” “he felt powerful” etc. I think there’s also something to be said about how by thematically juxtaposing humanity with god, the concept of fate and free will also becomes implicit. we all think about killing, sometimes we choose to do it ourselves and sometimes god does it for us. who has power here? when does it stop being righteous? can one take on the role of god when killing? and if one does take on the role of god, would all blame be erased?
after this is: “now think about killing mrs marlow. why did she deserve this?” now we’re directly tying will’s dialogue to the flashback. to will, the death must have meaning. not only that, but for the perpetrator this must be righteous in some way. why did she deserve it? this line also adheres to the show’s genre and its conventions: this is a crime show, which means we’re exploring justice and injustice. again, thematic opposites. but, as he’s done the entire time he’s been on screen so far, will keeps blurring the line between these distinctions
he then says “tell me your design” which, as we all know, is a significant motif in the show. he says this all the damn time, after every murder. again, this brings forth the idea that the murders must have some kind of deeper meaning, psychological or perhaps even creatively. after all, “design” is an interesting way to phrase this. it sounds artistic, purposeful, imbued with meaning. however, the exact meaning of this is only cemented when he follows it with “tell me who you are”
Tumblr media
“tell me who you are” is arguably the most important part of this entire sequence because, first and foremost, this show is about identity, specifically will’s identity. he recontextualises everything he just said in that moment, as well as the flashback we watched moments earlier. the design, the intent, the act of murder, and whether it’s divine or monstrous or purely human, is all linked to one’s identity. by understanding the murder, we understand the man. further still, there lies hidden commentary on one’s moral choices, as well as how autonomy fuels self-empowerment: we will understand who will is once he makes a choice to secure his own autonomy and power, which he does in the wrath of the lamb
it’s why he struggles to make solid choices all throughout the show, and why the specific choices he makes are so important, because whatever he authentically chooses to do will reveal who he is, no matter how hard he tries to hide from himself. he chooses to kill hobbs. he chooses to warn hannibal and gets his stomach split open in the process. if he hadn’t been so indecisive, he would’ve chosen to run away with hannibal too. he chooses to follow him to italy. and finally, he chooses to break him out of prison. because ultimately, once cannot change their nature. you cannot reduce him to a set of influences. he’s not a product of anything. he has his own design
and in hindsight, the questions raised here concerning will’s nature is resolved the moment he chooses to take hannibal down with him. the ambiguity of the resolution recalls the conflict between fate and free will, justice and injustice, and humanity and monstrosity (as set up in the opening scene) since although will actively chooses to drag them down the cliff, and as a result chooses loving hannibal over everything else, something he can’t really control anyway, he simultaneously leaves their fate up to god. it’s an act of faith. in that moment, when will finally seizes power and recognises who he is, accepting hannibal as his natural equal, his hand becomes the hand of god. in a final coin toss, will puts their lives in his own hands, and hannibal lets him do it anyway

Legacies 1x05 Rewatch:
The Dryad, I've missed her
I actually love how they show the evolution of the school with stuff like adapting to monsters and giving the students a voice
No because who takes over Raf's spot on the Honor Council when he dies
"YoU'rE nOt GoNnA lOsE tHe ElEcTiOn OvEr An OuTfIt." Why is it so hard for Josie to just support her sister for once.
"Lizzie Saltzman only cares about Lizzie Saltzman." You mean the Lizzie Saltzman, who does everything for her sister and sacrifices her life over and over again for every other student in that school?
"You still like it when I went low." "Oh, honey, you crush on me." Posie needed more than one season.
"We're not negotiating. Right, Ric?" "Uh ..." Dorian as headmaster would have been a great storyline.
Watching Rafael and Jed spar makes me realize that Finch never got to meet Rafael. What a wasted opportunity.
" You're mocking me." "Yeah but just a little bit." When I say Dorian and Alaric had more chemistry with the Dryad than they did with Emma or Mac ...
" Sometimes in the human world telling the truth can do more harm than good." OH THIS IS ABOUT THE MERGE. MM HMM.
Tumblr media
"I see it in their smiles, in their laughter. I still see her sometimes." Going to cry thinking about that last scene in TVD
"You straight up refuse to swim across the lake." "Excuse the foster kid for never having swim lessons." And now he literally lives, immortal, ferrying across a lake.
Testing his ability to get away from you as fast as possible, Hope? Little Miss Hold on Tight?
So if Malivore's DNA showed up as literally everything, why did Landon's DNA show no supernatural history? Why didn't it raise any red flags?
"It's so nice to know you all love me as much as I thought you did." She's a comedian because I know she knows those kids hate her ass. They attended a book club reading of her diary. They laughed at her funeral. They did NOT love her and she knew it.
"Jackass Jed." If there's one thing the Saltzman twins know how to do best it's come up with nicknames.
"Say no more. I know how much it means to you and I would be happy to help." She needs a hug.
Tumblr media
Tell me again how it's Lizzie who's getting in the way of Josie's romantic life?
What is the SBS sex ed class like because the amount of STD jokes those students make is kind of wild.
Not Josie giving away Lizzie's pink sweater ... like we never even got to see her wear it before you did that ...
"I've always wanted to be part of a power couple." Oh boy do I have news for you Lizzie
No, because Handon's "I don't want to be special" x "I need to be special" dynamic is so delicious
"You know, you can only hold out hope for so long and be hurt by so many people before it starts to seems impossible to trust someone new." "Do you trust me?" "Of course I do." Handizzie excellence.
Why did they have to do S1 Jed so dirty
"I'm trying to rise above it. So let me freaking rise."
"I'm a tribrid. The only one of my kind. No one can represent my interests but me." So does Lizzie finally get her spot on the council after becoming a heretic?
Did the Honor Council just disappear after Hope was forgotten??
Imagine if Lizzie had brought the truth orb with her when she hunted down Hope and confessed to being in love with her
Josie using her father and her sister almost dying since Landon arrived as an excuse to kick him out is kind of funny when you remember that later she kills her sister and doesn't care when her father stuck in a coma and on his death bed.
"This school is family." Guess nobody there can like each other now
Tumblr media
That's TWO magical trees in the Legacies universe now ...
"What did I ever do to make you hate me so much?" No because one day I will write an essay on how all of Josie's love interests end up hating Lizzie for no reason and/or misinformed reasons and there's one common denominator.
"It's not about you. It's about how you treat Josie." Is that not literally about her. Like if your problem is that she doesn't exist solely to serve Josie, isn't that having a problem with her??
"Did you think to ask her if she wanted to run for council before you assumed you'd win?" DID YOU?? BECAUSE THAT GIRL LOOKED LIKE SHE WANTED TO DIE AS SOON AS SHE HAD TO MAKE A DECISION ON THE SPOT LIKE THAT.
The irony in Penelope telling Lizzie that she's left Josie with no room for herself when it's actually the opposite way around. Like real quick Miss Park, which one of them are you telling that they can't pursue their interests because the other twin might want it too?
I will never understand why Penelope acted like Lizzie and Josie couldn't both run for council. It was an open election. All she had to do was put her name in.
"She spends all her energy taking care of you." To recap in the past four episodes she has spent her energy trying to win over Rafael, trying to convince everyone to hate Penelope and not talk about her, trying to get offensive magic put into the school curriculum, trying to get everyone to lose the football game, and trying to drive a deeper wedge between Hope and Lizzie during community service. Now which part of that is taking care of Lizzie?
"You are a black hole of time and energy and love." Is the time and energy and love in the room with us right now?
"She won't ever burn you world down." The foreshadowing to her literally burning the school down ...
Every day I wish Penelope would have been around to see Josie in her black lipstick era.
No because what happened to pretty shots like the Handon kiss? When did TV shows stop caring about cinematic beauty and nicely lit shots and fantastic coloring??
Sandwiches are a Handon thing
"I have a family friend who's expecting you." The fact that we never see Landon with the Mikaelson family friend ...
Every time I see Raf and Lizzie's scene, I think about that post about how lesbians use hetero sex as a form of self harm and there has never been a better example to exist in all of history. Like what part of being told that you're the worst person in the world makes you horny??
Also Lizzie Saltzman kiss a guy without crying challenge. Like sweetie if you're crying every time you have to kiss them, maybe it's for a reason.
Every time I hear Someone to You on the radio I get chills because of this episode

Rewatching s1 and… just being full serious for a second, I used to ship milkvan, like I thought I loved them in s1-2. Then when s3 happened I sorta lost interest. And in between the long hiatus between s3-4, I discovered the theories about the ending of s3 and byler and started to watch the show differently. Since then it’s just been a transition from thinking Mike and El were cute romantically, to being indifferent about it, and to just being sort of off put by it entirely by this point. Especially after all the analysis about Mike and him seeing her as a superhero with what we got in s4 in canon, it’s sort of ruined their dynamic for me.
If you guys thought the parallels between Brenner and Mike in s4 were bad, holy shit it somehow manages to be worse in s1.
There were literal scenes of Brenner forcing El to find someone for him, followed scenes of Mike, Dustin and Lucas basically doing the exact same thing to find Will.
Don’t get me wrong. I do think Mike did genuinely care for her as a person who was vulnerable and needed someone to protect her, because she was literally in danger.
But when she started lying to them about leading them to the gate, and hearing Lucas’ comment about how she was only doing what they asked because she needed a roof over her head, etc., technically, that wasn’t far off…
She doesn’t know Will, therefore she has no obligation to keep hurting herself in order to please Mike and prove herself worthy to Lucas and Dustin, by finding Will, just so that she can stay.
Do I think that makes them or her inherently bad? No. I just think that there was an obvious miscommunication here, where El wanted to be cared for, and to have someone to depend on, and she thought that in exchange she had to do these things to get it, ie. Find Will.
I don’t think Mike genuinely even felt like her only value was finding Will, but the circumstances were pretty bizarre. His best friend goes missing only for Superman to land on his doorstep and say that he’s alive. While it might not be his intention to use her, he is giving that impression and that’s undeniable watching s1.
What makes her sacrifice so sad at the end of the season, is that Mike had just gotten to a point where he was starting to see her as a person and not just a girl with superpowers. And right at that moment, she sacrifices herself to save them. A selfless act of the many she’s been doing all season. And now Mike feels awful. Because he’s realized that he used her for his benefit, to find Will. And at that point, they didn’t even find Will yet. So at the moment, her sacrifice was for nothing.
Whenever she wasn’t successful, he lashed out and pushed her away. And yet in the end she practically killed herself for him and his friends. I feel like if Mike had empathy and regretted his behavior, then his literal reaction in the end, to her ‘death’, does make sense and fits pretty well with someone experiencing survivors guilt.
Because although he’s got his best friend back, and that’s what he’s most focused on, he’s simultaneously feeling this immense sense of wrong doing on his part. He feels indebted to her now, in the same way she may have felt indebted to him for helping her and putting himself in danger to do so.
So I think s4 is just a part of this cycle, of Mike not understanding that he’s wronging her until its said and done.
So, more than anything tbh, I just want her soooooo badly to lash out at him in s5… and not in a dramatic way, but in a necessary way that I feel like is required for them to go from romantic to platonic without any bitterness.
I remember reading someone say that they hoped that we got a scene that paralleled Mike to El in season 1, when he said “You hurt me. Do you understand? What you did sucks!” And I don’t need or expect it to be word for word exactly like that, but something along those lines. Where as soon as El starts speaking and telling Mike how she truly feels, about their relationship and everything that they’ve been through, no bullshit, I just know as soon as it gets real, as soon as she calls out his idolization of her and his obsession with her powers, and how she hates that and she’s been through that enough, I honestly think it’s gonna click for Mike and he’s gonna listen and accept it and take responsibility for not being fully honest with her.
I am a byler truther forever atp, but it’s also really important to me that Mike and El end things in a way that feels true to what they both deserve out of it, in terms of closure. Especially El!
Which means that they’re both honest about everything from the beginning. And I think once we get that (if we hopefully get that), it’s going to give the audience closure too.

Finally decided to do a TVD rewatch now that the 'verse is complete. Since I know how everything ends I thought it would be interesting to see how I react with that knowledge. Curious if my feelings might change about characters, ships, storylines etc. (obviously I am fully aware there's going some bias).
Adding my thoughts after I complete the half-way mark of each season (there is simply too many episodes to do a recap of each one). I am talking to the void mostly here but feel free to leave comments, thoughts on my posts for those who still follow me or just find this post. However, I am not here to argue, I simply DO NOT CARE whatever you think is right totally, please leave me alone.

S1 Episodes 1-11
I am loving the dark atmosphere of the first season, feeling so much nostalgia! Nice to go back in time to when vampires were scary on this show. That's not really criticism because every supernatural show goes through this. The big bad must always be upped as it goes on but it was nice when the stakes were lower and the mythos was being developed.
Damon makes me feel so uncomfortable so far... I know he was the 'villian' for most of the beginning of the season but his treatment of Vicki and Caroline is just so predatory and gross. Which brings me to...
WHY HAS NO ONE GIVEN CAROLINE A GOD DAMN VERVAIN NECKLACE ALREADY!!! Stefan and Elena both know Damon was using her (and they know damn well he hasn't stopped). Her Mom has the vervain to give her and just has not for no reason!! GET AWAY FROM HER ALREADY! I got so mad when Damon was compelling her AGAIN in the 10th episode. I'm so glad she outlives them all, justice for my baby!
I'm sorry but Stefan is so creepy and self-righteous in the beginning, I remembered this but did not remember how bad it was. Also he did not need to kill Vicki, that pissed me off. I don't think it did as much when I first watch this (mind you that was literally 14+ years ago) but just knowing how freely everyone neck-snaps around here it was bullshit. His one cool moment remains when he told Logan he can't walk in the sun. The manipulative way he used Elena’s adoption to get her to forgive him had me rolling my eyes (then of course she used it against Jenna to get out of trouble lol).
I can't remember who the other vampire is who turned Logan, I'm thinking its Pearl's henchman but yeah I don't remember that part. I also didn't remember the crystal so I like that some of this is like a 'mystery' again.
I did remember that I thought Tyler was such a dick in the first season and yeah confirmed. Though now I remembered his Dad was an abusive piece of shit. Still, fuck Tyler for now.
Alaric looks so different I don't hate him (yet).
I still hate Matt #bias
The progression of Bonnie realizing her powers has been well done, again nice to just see the simple magic again. (Stefan totally wanted to bang Sheila back in the day... maybe they did)
Jeremy just met Anna and I still love them, I wish they got more time. They were the only 'ship I like in this season when it first aired.
The Bonnie, Elena and Caroline friendship is nice but I am annoyed they haven't done more to protect Caro from Damon. Especially when she doesn't know what's going on and they do (though Bonnie only just got all the deets). This might be magnified by my love of Caroline I admit but I hate the prop-y way she's being used so far.
I kinda rolled my eyes at the whole Katherine/Damon/Stefan stuff before Elena knew they were vamps because OMG Stefan is 17(!!!) Does no one thinks it's weird he's like "it was a long time ago" A LONG TIME AGO LIKE WHEN YOU WERE 12?! They should have made him at least 20, just bothers me.
I liked that not every vampire had a daylight ring and it was more of a novelty. That is something that could have stuck more in the later seasons.
Lines that made me laugh:
Caroline: Yeah, Elena wasn't so lucky today. It's only because you missed summer camp. God, I don't know how you're ever going to learn the routines. (Bonnie offers to help her) I guess we can put her in the back. (all right in front of Elena lmao oh Caroline never change)
Caroline: So, Elena...how long do you think this fight with Stefan's gonna last? Is it...like a permanent thing? (eyes on the prize baby! lol)
Stefan: (imitating Damon) Now that the secret society of vampire haters is off our back, I can go back to my routine of how can I destroy Stefan’s life this week. (never gets old!)
Damon: *shoots Logan with wooden bullets* Payback's a bitch, isn't it? (all in the delivery here lmao kudos to Ian)

Hey! I loooove your Lost edits so much. It’s my fave show of all time and I love seeing more activity in the tag, thank you ☺️
Your first watch of the show has coincided with my latest rewatch (I’ve just started s3, so I’m a tad behind you). But as someone watching it for the first time I just HAD to stop by and ask how you’re finding it so far and what your thoughts are? Tell me everything! No thought or detail is too small, I love talking about Lost so much 🥲
oh my god thank you so much!!! i just love it when lost fans come by here to say me they love seeing activity on the tag again and they say my gifs made them rewatch the show (i can't check tags cause ✨spoilers✨) it's shocking to see there are very few people who actually gif popular shows like lost, breaking bad etc. and i've even realized there are not any marvel fans anymore like it used to be, i don't know how i feel about this, but i'm glad to contribute 🥹
that's so great! <3 it's so great to see people are still rewatching it after 19 years because that's what this! show! deserves! i didn't know what it was about and after i read it, i said "a plane crashed on an island and some people survived? eh it's not that interesting and so cliche" and later my brother watched it and he was literally obsessed with it and he was very pissed off that i was constantly putting it off. so i started and the first two episodes were the most intense and chaotic episodes i've ever watched in any series 😬 so as i keep watching, i realized i love mystery series (which was sth i've noticed about myself) and i absolutely love science fiction and psychological series. it was so hard to keep so many character's name in mind at first and you know better than me, there are SO many details in such random places that i bet, most people didn't even notice in the first watching 😅 it's like, the smallest thing you saw in a random episode of s1 turns out to be something much bigger in a random episode of s3 etc. 😅 so since i can't see all of the easter eggs, i watch it with my brother mostly who has seen it 3 times and after finishing the eps he says "did you notice that" and then he goes "look there are numbers right there and there's hurley on the tv of the people jin went to kill" etc. 😅 but you know, this series is magnificent and full of surprises and it always ends with killer cliffhangers and now i'm on mid s3 and desmond started to keep saving charlie's ass, i've seen ben and his people, i feel like i'm really into the show and the scifi part of it 😅 i don't know how it will all fit together, you know, everytime roll credits, i'm like "i dunno what i've just watched and how it's gonna play out by the end but it's freaking exciting" 😅 i'm really glad that i'm watching lost at 22 because lost is mostly about life itself, good memories, regrets, personalities, sins and grace, there's always a moral of the story in the end. so, if i had watched it when i was little, i probably wouldn't understand a shit. but now i feel a little more mature and i've been through a few things so the character's stories are a bit more relatable now.
so what i'm most curious about is that, now i'm on mid s3 and i found out claire's father is WHO!!! (freaking out!!! not spoiling this cause there might be someone reading) can you say that i've seen the most of this show OR things has just started and i've seen nothing yet 😂 i can't make gifs a lot 'cause i'm currently busy with life and my thesis but giffing this show is fun, so if you have specific requests, i'm writing which episode i last watched in my pinned post, u can check it out from there ✨ i'm so glad you had to stop to ask me this, lost is going pretty mysterious and chaotic and i'm so thankful for that 😂

For me recently I’ve been eating up all the rivusa crumbs in the movies ESP magical adventure but since I have no irl outlet I’m just gonna say here that in secret of the lost kingdom the freaking cut scene from the Italian where the old white man tells riven that he needs to figure out whats his reason fighting and Musa just comes and links arms with him owns my heart AND THEN it links back to when they have their moment towards the end where he tells her she is what he’s fighting for😭😭 dude that kiss is engraved in my head for absolutely no reason I love it so much the animation was giving all it could have been giving at that moment😭😭 and also when Musa was giggling while riven was doing extra stuff with his hover bike just makes me so happy🥲
But then magical adventure ironically outsells the sotlk rivusa moments Bcs let me say when they meet in eraklyon and she runs and pushes up on his shoulders to kiss the side of his forehead😭😭 and his hand placement just gives me life and when they kiss (with so much tenderness that my heart is exploding) his hands deadass brushes over her ass😀😀😀 (the fact that the animators made an ACTIVE DECISION TO ANIMATE THAT TOO) it just helps with my hc that musas favourite place to hold riven is around his neck and his is around her waist (and lower ig🤷‍♀️ ) and they’re holding hands to wan to the ship too🥲🥲🥲 ALSO when riven ran up to musa on the ship to tell her “I always loved playing pirates” I MEAN COME ON THEY ARE SO CUTE and when they’re all kinda mourning over sky’s dad riven just puts his hands on her shoulders to comfort her and she later just reaches back to place her palm over his hand on her shoulder😭😭😭 URGH my heart can’t handle all these moments and then when the winx get back their powers she tackles him from the back and wraps her arms around his neck while she’s flying😭 and they just stay that way and look at each other when bloom and sky kiss lol🤪 and then when they need to fly back to the ship THEYRE THE LAST COUPLE TO SEPARATE AND HE JUST HOLDS HER HAND FOR AS MUCH AS HE CAN BEFORE SHE FLIES OFF😭😭😭 ok I think I’m done with my rivusa verbal diarrhoea I spent a whole 3 hours watching magical kingdom because I kept going back and slowing down the cute rivusa crumbs and analysing everything🤪 thank you for coming to my Ted talk about why rivusa have always been and will be the best
HELPPP THIS ASK IS EVERYTHING AND MORE!!!!
I thought I was the only one obsessed with movie Rivusa, bestie I love you, I could talk about "I've always loved playing pirates" for hours straight
YOUR SO RIGHT
SotLK is about big dramatic Rivusa while MA is all about those domestic casual Rivusa moments and I could stare at them forever
I rewatch the first and second movie p often because I love and are obsessed without them thank uuu so I am absolutely the person to send this to thank u for the food
I'm so mad they cut that scene bc Riven's arc in the first movie makes so much less sense without it but it's literally the same arc again and I'm sick of is, MA forever for just letting Rivusa vibe and exist
Like I know Riven is the most interesting and well written male character in the show but give my man a break 🙄🙄🙄 his shoulders must be in so much pain form carrying most of the specialist sub plots
I love all the Rivusa kisses from the first kingdom, but the one where she was surprising him was so cute. Riven defo stuggles with being openly affectionate even tho he really really wants to be and Musa knows this show she's being affectionate enough for the both of them I love them so much sobbing
Their so soft but I can't believe you needed the movie to tell u that Riven is handsy with his s/o /j like it was so obvious. I couldn't tell you who is worse between them tbh. Musa, as seen by her s1 outfit, is more attention getting, Riven is only subtle when you compare him to her. Musa is going to kill Riven with her outfits one day, and she's not gonna even be a little sorry because it was completely intentional
The animators knoooo
My hc is that Musa really likes just attaching herself to his arm. His arm is stuck being cuddled to her chest and he's not getting it back thank youuu. That hc is because the s2 finale party is literally everything I've ever needed in Winx, but I can definitely see where your coming from. Musa is part of the "I'm going to jump on my boyfriend" coalition with Stella and Aisha
And yes true, canon
THEIR LITERALLY SO CUTE ADORABLE AND SOFT IN THAT MOVIE AND I LOVE THEM SO MUCH FOR IT
I love how Musa prefers to sneak attack Riven by jumping on his back. Stella and Aisha r so proud. She definitely does that just to mess with him. "Hahaha I snuck up on you 😜" and Riven, who damn well heard her is like "yaah you did babe" and then she messes with his pointy hair
They are BOTH CLINGY BECAUSE THEY WORRY ALOT ABOUT EACH OTHER CHANGE MY MIND I LOVE THEM SO DEARLY
YE S YES UES IVE DONE RHE SAME THING YOUR THE MOST VAILD PERSON IN THE WORLD
I completely agree and I am patiently waiting for the next ted talk this was WONDERFUL

FTWD 8x04: King County
Okay, so episode 4 of Fear was REALLY interesting. I had heard about Morgan going back to King County.
Tumblr media
And remember what I said about the foreshadowing of them bringing up King County in episode 1? TD correctness strikes again!
Tumblr media
But seriously. I thought it was a little abrupt to suddenly have him all the way back in King County, but clearly Fear is trying to accomplish a LOT in this final season with very few episodes. Because I think it’s leading to a re-merging of the shows and the CRM war (which =s Beth), I’ll give them a pass.
So, Morgan returns to the house where he lived with Duane after he and Rick parted ways in S1. And we learn some interesting things. These are things we could possibly have gleaned from earlier episodes, especially Morgan’s cray-cray rambles, but they weren’t super-firmly confirmed.
We already knew that his wife, Jenny, in walker form, bit and therefore killed Duane. But what happened next was always murky. Here, we learn that Morgan left Duane in the house as a walker, and never put him down. So, he wants to return to King County and put Duane down, and properly bury him.
Fair enough.
Tumblr media
Here’s the kicker, though. Lots of things go on in this episode. There’s Padre stuff and Sherry/Dwight stuff. By the time Morgan actually makes it into the house to put Duane down, we’re more than half way through the episode. And when he goes in…Duane is not there. Jenny is. He obviously put her down when she bit Duane (and he says as much when telling the story) but Walker-Duane is gone.
Sound a little like what we’ve always said happened with Beth? That when Daryl/TF returned to bury her, she was gone, and they assumed she turned and wandered away. Now, in Duane’s case, he truly WAS a walker, but it’s still a parallel to what happened with Beth during those missing 17 days, even if she wasn’t one.
So as it turned out, Morgan left Walker-Duane in the attic of a yellow house. Yes, yellow. Very important color for Beth. But Morgan didn’t remember doing that. He’d been in his grief/cray-cray mode and must have repressed it.
Tumblr media
The point is, we have a memory issue here. Things didn’t happen the way Morgan remembered. He was remembering them incorrectly. It’s something my fellow theorists harp on a lot. We’ve long said that Coda was told from Rick’s POV, not Beth’s. And that TF, because of their grief, may be remembering things incorrectly. That’s why there are missing scenes. Yes, it’s totally because the writers don’t want us to know what happened, yet. But from TF’s point of view, it’s because they’re repressing things and honestly don’t remember everything that went down in S5. Which is why they can’t see that Beth might actually have survived.
I rewatched that scene where Duane is revealed. I’m not sure what the significance of the attic is, except that it’s an unseen, out-of-the-way place where Morgan didn’t originally think to look for Duane. So whether it was the attic, the basement, or some hidden, back room, the symbolism would still be the same, overall.
Tumblr media
I also noticed that walker-Duane in this episode is missing an eye. (Sirius). He’s also wearing a red hoodie. Now, this is interesting. I was immediately reminded of this walker:
Tumblr media
This is from S6, and Nicholas says he was a young man—like 19 *coughs* Beth’s age in S5 *coughs*--who Nicholas and Aiden left behind at one point. Literally, Nicholas says, "he was on my crew. He was nineteen. We left him behind." Sounds like Beth to me.
This walker, whose name was Will, a name we also saw recently in FTWD, also wore a red hoodie and was missing an eye. It’s a symbol they use a lot in the show, I think. It represents someone who was sacrificed and left behind.
So, two ties here. The red garment in Beth’s cell. While she wasn’t being sacrificed and left behind in that scene, it foreshadowed that she would be. They already had her arc figured out as 4x01 and the Bethyl hug happened. (Which incidentally is why it’s total bullsh*t that they would just change direction and kill her off, as so many people tried to make us believe.)
Tumblr media
The other thing is that there are instances from S1 where Duane was also wearing a red hoodie. Now, we see him in it, as a walker, with a missing eye. I can’t help but wonder if Duane wasn’t character zero for where this symbolism came from.
Tumblr media
Anyway, I’m not going to go into tons of details about this episode. That was the biggest thing. Morgan had some really interesting lines that could easily apply to Beth during those missing 17 days. “He must have gotten out.” “I waited too long.” “I couldn't put him to rest back then, and I can't put him to rest, now.”
Whether he speaks them or not, surely Daryl thought the same kinds of things during those 17 days after Coda when Beth’s body went missing.
What did everyone else think of this episode?
@wdway:
I watched it yesterday and need to watch it again. Agree with what you said above. I also felt they were showing that what we think we knew about a storyline isn't always true. What we think we saw at Grady/Coda might not be true. I think they’re already setting up the cliffhanger about the cure for the mid-season episode.
Tumblr media
I was really surprised that they didn't use a more inland setting for Rick's hometown. The palm trees and the brick roads in the neighborhood screamed Savannah not your typical Georgia town.
@galadrieljones:
Just watched it during my long layover on the way home. The episode gave me so many scares.
I agree it is a bit of a shame they couldn’t manage to film in the Atlanta area. The interior set, however, is the same set used in the pilot. I loved the lonely cup on the table where Rick, Morgan, and Duane had their last supper. Made me think of the holy grail.
I also got a lot of vibes, re: WHAWGO, Grady, Missing 17 Days, Still. No time right now to talk, but I really look forward to hearing your thoughts!
There’s a lot of weird discrepancies with the house that remind me of Find Me. For example, see how there’s a clock in the old shot w Rick above? There’s no clock in the new shot. An interesting entry into the “missing time” motif. Lots of stuff is missing from the house, like Leah’s place in Find Me. Like where is all the furniture, etc.? No U-hauls in the apocalypse. Morgan and Daryl and messed up memories makes me wonder about the truth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
@wdway, I like your initial reading that they are teaching us here that the story were told isn’t necessarily true, or it’s not the whole story.
Like so what did Morgan go through? He put Duane on a leash and dragged him back to the yellow house? He tied him up in the attic like some old gothic horror novel. I wonder how king he was there with Duane, “playing house.” Yikes. Reminds me of the Governor and Penny.
It’s a good metaphor for how we hide our demons in the most far-removed places from our minds. The dead child in the attic.
Tumblr media
Did Daryl take Beth somewhere with the intent to put her down before she turned, but he couldn’t? Did he see signs of life and choke, thinking he was crazy?
And even while the Dwight and Sherry stuff felt pretty tacked on to me in the episode, I was reminded of how Dwight also once returned to his and Sherry’s old house, looking for her and all he found was her ghost and a clue. Their house was yellow, too. And the house in On the Inside is yellow, only that house is also empty, a bait and switch. Maggie is hiding under the floorboards next door.
I did enjoy Finch’s little escape show tho. Cute little stealthy baby bird lol.
@wdway:
I need to go back and watch it again. What a great catch about the clock. I'm sure if you had not watched the one with Rick you would have missed it and that would have been a shame. And what is replaced from the clock is three candles. It looks like two white and one creamy yellow. The same color as the Holy Grail cup. Love your interpretation of that glass, so spot on. Should we point out the fact that there's three chairs. I couldn't help but think of all the empty chairs that we saw in s11.
@galadrieljones:
I need to watch it again too! And yeah, it was cool to have seen Days Gone Bye just the other day.
Good call on the empty chairs. I just can’t stop picturing Daryl somehow being back in Atlanta at the funeral home, staring at the table where he and Beth had had their last supper all those years ago.

Dashboard osmosis late seasons supernatural?
Oh man - so I stopped watching early in S9, and my memory of anything after S5 is pretty hazy (I have rewatched S1-5 once, the latter seasons not at all), so this is a combination of dashboard osmosis, fractured memories of things I may or may not have seen, and whatever November 5th did to my brain.
So, at the end of S8 all the angels fall out of heaven, right? Because Metatron did a Thing. I've no idea what happened with Metatron after that but I'm gonna assume the brothers killed him, because that's generally how they deal with things, even deity-level-powered villains. I don't know if the angels went back after that - I know there was a civil war which might have been before this? Also at some point all the angels die I think, which leaves Castiel as the last angel. Castiel gets depowered at some point. And some other point becomes God. And dies. And I think becomes evil? It feels like they did everything they possibly could with Cas other than let him be a main character.
I think at this point Cain and Abel (maybe?) show up and Dean gets the Mark of Cain on him which makes him evil. Because of this (or perhaps entirely unrelated) he becomes a demon and we get Demon Dean for a bit which honestly sounds quite cool. Presumably is cured in some manner that sets up the arc of the next season.
The brothers find out that they're the heirs to some secret society called the Men of Letters and get a cool new bunker which means they don't have to shoot on different sets each week which makes the show cheaper and totally ruins its original aesthetic.
Kevin and Felicia Day both get killed off because of course they do. But I think Felicia Day (Charlie?) comes back because she's in the last episode. She also at some points goes to Oz and dates Dorothy. Honestly as far as SPN women go it seems like she does pretty well.
Crowley becomes King of Hell at some point. He also stays alive for ages even though he was never half as interesting as the fandom always thought he was.
Lucifer comes back! And presumably then so does Adam? I assume this means they address the whole "we left our other brother in a hell cage and never mentioned it again" weirdness, but I think it's funnier if I don't. Lucifer hangs out with Sam and maybe posseses Cas? (I've heard the word "Casifer" and assume this is what it means).
The Impala becomes a human in one episode, which is apparently actually a good episode. There's also an episode where Dean is a dog and another one where they're in Scooby-Doo. Honestly I would like to watch these.
There's a new kid called Jack that seems to be like a fourth main character and is Cas' son? Unclear whether this is in any way literal or just that they have a parental relationship. He seems to be around a lot but also is kind of dunked on by the narrative and not given enough attention? I dunno, he's new to me so I don't trust him but I assume there's a reason why people (including you I think!) care about him.
And then uhhhh there's cold static for like three seasons and Cas makes a deal with the Empty (which is like angel afterlife/superhell but is also a person that you can make deals with?) in order to save Jack's life, which means if he gets Perfect Happiness he will go to superhell. His perfect happiness is confessing love to Dean and getting ambiguously no-homoed in return. Later is re-homoed in spanish.
Oh, wait, Chuck is back and is explicitly God! And is evil about it because he has a story and wants Dean and Sam to follow his story but they don't? I'm sure this is either a genius metanarrative or a self-cannibalising mess, no in-between. They kill ChuckGod and save the world/themselves/free will.
Then they go to a pie-eating contest and Dean eats too many pies and then gets killed by a vampire who sticks him with a rusty nail. Sam is sad but goes to have a Normal Life with some woman who doesn't even get a face, let alone a name, and dies 50 years later from terrible prosthetics disease. Dean goes to heaven and his car is there because in the supernatural universe, cars go to heaven but gays don't.
...Until Dean then takes the car and goes back in time with it to makes sure his parents hook up or something? Idk what's happening in the prequel, but it sounds nuts.
And Mischa Collins comes out as straight. Love wins.

top five once upon a time christ figure moments <3
OH HOW TO CHOOSE... i will definitely need to update this list once i rewatch the show but off the top of my head(most of these are early on because i haven't watched the later seasons in quite a while):
(SPOILERS AHEAD)
okay the read more thing is getting fucked up so im adding this paragraph in hopes that it will get it to work. tumblr why are you like this
henry getting poisoned from the apple turnover and coming back to life at the end of s1. he goes oh you don't believe? well what if i die and you have to bring me back to life through the power of love and magic. double emma and henry christ figure moment there. also that scene where henry bites the turnover and passes out is SO iconic
just everything with emma's birth. literal baby who everyone is trying to kill and who represents hope and love and is predestined to save the world!!!
neal/baelfire is very jesuscoded to me. gentle nice kid with a scary powerful dad; dies to save emma and henry et cetera. neal and emma are kind of a jesus4jesus power couple if you think about it
snow white!!! special princess who is badass and kind and all the animals love and who everyone is trying to kill. when she eats the poison apple knowing what's going to happen. and then essentially gets resurrected. (bonus: that scene with the huntsman where he spares her life and then later gets martyred for it) sidenote maybe there's some kind of genetic component here actually because snow, emma, henry, and lucy are all some level of jesuscoded. pretty neat of them
henry having the heart of the truest believer!! also his little speech in new york where he tells everyone to believe and make a wish and its like that moment in a covertly religious hallmark movie where the christ figure character gets everyone to believe in the magic of christmas. does that make any sense
anyways i really need to rewatch this show because i know there are so many more that i'm forgetting especially in the later seasons.
(honorable mentions: whatever was going on with lily's whole judas (and/or antichrist??) thing with emma. pinnochio/august booth. lucy mills. everything about the final battle. many more things that i simply don't remember off the top of my head)

OHMYGOD I'm happy I found another person as happy with this season as I am!! The tags are full of just negativity right now and it's like y'all. This is a fucking good season. It's not perfect, but it's actually reminiscent of s1+2 with the tone aged up (WHICH THE fucking tone change to compliment the school change was just perfect) (anyways imma stop rambling now oops)
Like listennn I know I had absolute rock bottom expectations after season 3 and this surpassed them but even then. I think it's good all on its own! Like I literally can't even find anything to complain about at the moment. Nothing stuck out to me as being particularly horrendous. I mean like. Sorry to be controversial but I really do think it's almost as perfect as s1. And tbh the problems I have with season one aren't really present in this season so liiike... What does that tell us?? Idk I'll need to rewatch of course but I really do think it's up there with s1. Not the exact same vibe but still a good vibe!
Like idk I really just felt like everything and everyone mattered this season. The story was great, the writing was improved, the pacing was almost perfect, no one exhausted me lol. I hate that people aren't vibing with it tho bc that means they'll change direction for the last season and that would suck lol
Fr tho I told my sister that they're holding off on the last two eps bc they really filmed multiple endings and wanna test the waters and see what the majority of people will respond to 😭 Everyone cast your votes now! Should Eddie live or die? Kill Steve or kill Nancy? Mileven or Byler endgame?? I mean probably not but that's really how it feels with this show lmao

Rewatching, and I kinda feel bad for Jasper. I’m on “We Are Grounders” Part 2, and Jasper’s proven himself many times by now - within the episode even. Them constantly having no confidence in him - even when he delivers - wasn’t helping to make him better. On another note, it is impossible to miss the graveyard of plot lines literally everywhere. What was JR doing? You can literally so many avenues he meant to go, and then decided not to pursue at the last second. It just ended, but this is definitely a show that needs a reboot. He just kept fumbling the story. Even The Primes in Season 6 - that was good. He should’ve did something with them instead of going to Bardo. And then season 7 rips literally everything in prior seasons to shreds. If every Grounder had nightblood, then how did it become rare? Fighting for commander wouldn’t have done shit cuz everyone who was on the ground needed NB - they would’ve had to kill everyone. Also, it’s a gene therapy not like an epigentic trait that was switched on. There’s no way they would’ve selected against it at that scale in only 100 years. Opposite of that, there’s no way The Ark ppl would’ve been able to adapt to solar radiation like that in only 100 years. I also think the degradation of knowledge for the Grounders didn’t make a lot of sense. Those people were just like the people on the Ark - there had to have been physicists and doctors and whatnot amongst the rich and famous in that Bunker(we saw there was). All of that just disappeared? Mt Weather just discovered a 21st century bone marrow transplant when Skaikru arrived? They couldn’t have done that to the Grounders 100 years before? Let’s not forget the characters. Octavia and Clarke were the only ones who he really developed. The rest were just going in circles. Bringing kids in the way they did was not smart. Especially since Madi was just there after season 5. No real purpose at all. Expanding the world was good, but the way he did it wasn’t. ALLIE was a mistake I fear. We should’ve stuck to the Lord of The Flies sorta thing, and The Mountain Men should’ve been more than one season. It would’ve been cool if there was like a conglomerate of Mountain Men - multiple bunkers like that working together. Everyone in the main group at least should’ve became a warrior. Clarke becoming someone’s second as a peace offering could’ve been cool - Lexa would’ve been the only one she could be second too without making Skaikru look weak though. Her, Luna, or the Flamekeepers. Bellamy and Clarke’s friend dynamic was great, but watching S1 back - they should’ve been together. Lincoln really didn’t have to die. Finn was definitely not the one in the group who would’ve ended up doing what he did. Monty and Jasper should’ve been a couple. That could’ve been how Jasper got out of his depression over the girl he only knew for two weeks. Wells really didn’t have to die. We saw Bellamy fucking everyone - I feel like we should’ve seen him with some boys too. The future they built seemed like no one cared about sexuality - which to me means damn near everyone should be fluid. Heteronormativity as a societal expectation plays a much larger role than people think. I think it’s telling that the Female leads were bi, yet only two side characters were gay(3 if we count Miller’s first bf). Grounder religion and spirituality should’ve been explored way more too. I’ve got many more comments and ideas, but know that I will be a major player on the eventual Reboot. This was a really new take on an apocalypse and while it was good it could’ve been done better.

S2 rewatch highlights pt 4
Episode 7
OHHHH the TV showing “Action News 8” OKMGJGKF
Oh wow the yellow lights everywhere - she’s on a soul search
“Mouth breather” made me laugh out loud - I love how the word is just like a gentle “f— u” for El, or like a “you’re not worth my time”
“Outside the Realm” played between Byler and Jancy and also between Kali and El! I didn’t know the song was played this many times.
Awwh El did hear Hopper’s message!
“I’m a fighter. I’ve killed.” Okay I really like how the show emphasizes here that you can kill and still not be “fighter” - it’s clear that the gang’s intentions vs El’s are much different
“Festered” = “spread” Kali equates. Until she confronted it and it eased the pain. Oh my gosh if this ends up being true to Will, too. My heart
Alright as a former Winx Club girlie I am a sucker for transformations so I love the outfit change sequence
Okay side note “Shirley Temple” is so endearing to me as that’s also one of my nicknames haha
AWGFGF Funshine’s care bear mask
Oh El’s compassion when she sees the family photo :(((((((( <3
I love how you can hear Kali’s style of voice in Brenner!
And when she sees Brenner it seems that the light is more yellow and less red/purple once again I stand by my yellow = heart agenda
El clings to the first time Mike gave her the nickname, Dustin and Mike at the cliff, Hopper taking her in, and Hopper and the “compromise”
I LOVE WHEN THEY ALL FREEZE AND KALI MAKES THEM INVISIBLE AHHHHHHH Oh the camera panning around to them being gone is so cool. Every single time man
Oof wow the crescendo when El parts with the gang and runs as they drive off was really powerful wait what song is that???
Oh and the window transition!!! I love
Poor Kali! Please I hope we see her again
Episode 8
POOR MIKE no one's listening to him because everything moving so fast and the panic but omg he's right on the money
OH HAHA I forgot that electricity went out in the lab at the start! I didn't really pay attention to when it happened lol
OUGH. The stagnation and fear in Billy's eyes from his dad. Yikes.
Wow the way I held my breath for Bob AHHHh
BOB NOOOO ohhhh Joyce's trauma here OH YMHERATT I know that it's addressed next season as Joyce has flashbacks but like... does she do anything about it??? NOO and my heart I am shaking omg
“I should have been there” Jonathan self parallels from s1 HHHFJJGGJG 😭
AWW WAIT OMG Steve getting emotional when he looks at Nancy and Jonathan and Will omg????? Babygirl???
I forgot how heavy this season is for Joyce. Oh my gosh EULOGY PLAYING WHEN HOPPER ENTERS THE ROOM SOMEONE STOP ME I'M BOUTTA JUMP ONTO THE HIGHWAYYYYy /nsrs
Wow Mike comes up with a lot of the plan!!! AWW poor baby damn literally he wants to lead but he can't!!
OHHIHO JONATHAN ADN MIKE ARE CRYING OMMGHGHG
If we get a "proud [of you]" moment from Joyce to Will when he comes out to her I will be SICKKK
"It was the best thing I've ever done" SEDATE MEEEEE
Joyce and Jonathan holding each other in fear I AM ILL PLEASE just let this family have peace please I am on my knees
