anyway i love these two….and i agree, sonia, they’ve shown glimpses at it in the show but i wanted to go more into the dynamic they could potentially have and that’s really what inspired this!! i’ve structured it as a 3+1, with it essentially being three times andrea went to tk to talk to him about something, and one time the roles are reversed. here’s a tiny snippet!!

She’s never seen him so…unravelled.

Andrea hasn’t known him very long, and she’s coming to realize that it’s only now that she’s truly going to get to see him. Because while he’s got so much fire in him, all wrapped up with an easy confidence and wide smile and big heart, she’s certain that he’s been careful with what sides of himself he presented to herself and Gabriel. The TK in front of her now sits in sharp contrast with the young man in a nicely pressed shirt with the loud but fitting print who hugged her and riffed with them over limes and conspiracy theories and photos of Carlos’ junior prom at dinner just a few nights ago. And she knows, deep in her core, just how much this goes back to that evening when Carlos was seventeen and telling them his truth; how TK wants to represent their love and himself as clean-cut. But it’s anything except that, and that’s just life, and Andrea’s pretty sure her heart’s dropped to her stomach over the sight of him now: with his bottom lip caught between his teeth and his knee jumping up and down and his arms crossed defensively across his chest as he sits and waits in the harsh light of the ER. Gabriel’s words haunt her now—there was a fire, there was a fire, there was a fire—and it suddenly becomes much too real.

She doesn’t mean to intrude on his privacy, but the heel of her boot squeaks against the linoleum floor, and TK glances her way. He tries to smile at her, but when he can’t quite gather himself in order to stand, she hurries forward and puts a gentle hand on his forearm.

“It’s going to be okay,” Andrea tells him, after he tries and fails to speak. TK doesn’t look like believes her, and it’s hard to focus when there’s soot and sweat clinging to his skin—a visible reminder of what was almost lost tonight—but she doubles down and squeezes his arm the tiniest bit for emphasis. “I don’t make promises I can’t keep. He’ll be okay, mijo. And you will be, too.”

so yeah…..a long way to go still but i’m excited to see where it ends up!

3. what fic are you emotionally attached to?

Probably Every morning another chapter, because as I said in another ask, I tapped into a lot of real feelings for that one, but also A safe distance, which was my first longer fic for this fandom and includes a couple of my favorite scenes that I've written. I put a lot of my TK feelings into that one.

7. how does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you?

I’ll be real, I will usually feel crappy if I don’t get the response I was hoping for when I post something. I’m very sensitive to perceived rejection. But I also know that are so many reasons why people may not engage with a certain fic/vid that have nothing to do with me or how good the work is, and I try very very hard to remember that! When I get bummed, I find that it helps to focus outwards and give feedback to other people. Also, I've gotten some amazing comments that I reread sometimes and they really make me want to keep finishing my fics so I can post them.

19. If you could write an ideal fic, what would it include?

My ideal fic would be hurt/comfort with a strong, inevitable-feeling love story at its core. It would probably lean a bit plotty and dramatic, but always with a solid happy ending.

5. what fic of your own won't you read?

Hm, I don't read any of my whump fics because it's not my favourite thing to read. I was happy to write them for the people that I did and I'm glad that they enjoyed them but they will stay reading material for others and I'm okay with that.

9. what's your writing process like?

I know I told you a bit about it the other day. But I outline, figure out how many sections of the fic I will have and detail what's going to happen in each one and who's point of view it will be in. I then start an individual doc for each section and as I write, I transfer them into one big doc. As I edit, I copy onto another doc until I get one that I'm happy with. It's crazy and a lot lmao, but for some reason, it works.

15. how do you think your writing as improved over time?

Well, ten year old Paige used to write in size like 30 font, in script form so, structure definitely lol. But I think I have changed a lot in dialogue, I used to really not be able to write it and struggled a lot with it. In terms of fic, I think that it's helped me a lot with characterisation and it's helped me be able to build my own characters easier.

20. what’s the greatest gift you’ve gotten from your writing?

We about to get emotional up and here. But honestly? All of my friends that I have made through the fic community. A big shoutout to you and @pragmatic-optimist because you two have been a huge part of my fic writing ever since we started talking. But so many others too, everyone who has listened to me talk about a fic or helped me out OR supported me in my fic writings. There are so many of you and I would love to just scream about each and every one of you. But for now just know that you are ALL blessings and I appreciate and love you all so so much.
