Hello, my Reylo beauties! Here is “Chapter 1” of my new fic, written for the Twilight Zone Reylo Collection II. It’s inspired by both the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride at Disney and the Elevator Game you might’ve seen on the Internet. 🖤🤍

TITLE: Elevator to Another Dimension

SUMMARY:

“Long ago, on a stormy night much like this, movie star Ben Solo disappeared after lightning struck the elevator shaft of the Twilight Tower Hotel. Ever since then, the allegedly haunted hotel has sat closed, unwanted, and abandoned. But now, decades later, the hotel is to be renovated. Rey, a lover of classic Ben Solo films, has been tasked with bringing the broken-down elevator back to life.

What secrets does the old elevator hold? And what really happened to Ben Solo all those years ago? When she steps inside the elevator, Rey just might discover that elevators can take you to more than different floors in a building. In fact, elevators may actually have the ability to transport you to . . . another dimension.”

Title inspired by Audre Lorde’s poem “Recreation”

As a special way to enjoy some Reylo fanfiction this Valentine’s Day, the Reylo Fanfiction Anthology is hosting a gift fic exchange on AO3!

As a participant, you will offer to write a story of a minimum of 1000 words for someone’s request. You will also be matched with another writer who’ll write a gift fic for you based on your sign up request.

Sign ups will open on Saturday, November 19th, 2022.

Sign ups will close at midnight EST on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022.

You will receive your recipient’s request by Monday, December 7th, 2022.

All fics are due at midnight EST on Tuesday, February 7th, 2023 to give us time for any pinch hit assignments, if necessary.

Fics will be anonymously revealed at 12:01 A.M., February 14th, 2023.

Authors will be revealed on Tuesday February 21st, 2023.

Please note that that this is an exchange hosted on AO3. In order to participate, you must have an Archive of Our Own account. For questions on how to join AO3, or any other questions, please email us at [email protected].

Please indicate at least three prompts for a fic you would like to receive when signing up, as well as anything you do not want in your gift fic. Additionally, we are asking all participants this year to please include their favorite non-Star Wars book and movie in their sign up.

Example:

Prompt 1: Years after Rey and Kylo are married and trying to live happily ever after, a new Sith Lord rises.

Prompt 2: Domestic fluff - Rey and Ben/Kylo celebrate a holiday.

Prompt 3: Explicit hand holding

I love when Rey and Kylo banter and spar, but I don’t like outright fighting where they hurt each other. Fluff is fine! I really like when they kiss and makeup.

I do not want a gift fic with the following: Extreme violence, blood and gore.

My favorite non-SW book is Neverwhere and movie is Labyrinth!

Dark writing prompts

Some dark writing prompts for the cold winter days :) Number five is my favorite. I wrote a short story about it once. Which one is your favorite?

In a world where emotions are harvested as a powerful energy source, a secret society emerges, exploiting the pain and suffering of individuals to fuel their dark ambitions.

A mysterious antique mirror appears in an old, abandoned house. Anyone who gazes into it experiences glimpses of their worst fears coming to life. What happens when the mirror falls into the wrong hands?

In a dystopian future, a government experiment to control crime goes horribly wrong. Citizens start experiencing their darkest impulses as physical manifestations, leading to chaos and destruction.

A cursed town is shrouded in perpetual darkness, and every year, a single resident must willingly sacrifice themselves to lift the curse for a brief moment. This year, the chosen one has a secret that could change everything.

A talented artist discovers that their paintings have the power to alter reality. However, with each stroke of the brush, a piece of their soul is consumed, leaving them on the brink of madness.

A small community is plagued by a series of unexplainable events, each linked to a children's nursery rhyme. As the rhyme predicts the next tragedy, the townsfolk desperately try to break the curse before it claims them all.

A scientist creates a device that allows people to relive their happiest memories. However, as they delve deeper into the technology, they uncover a hidden layer of forgotten, traumatic experiences that could shatter lives.

In a post-apocalyptic world, survivors discover an underground bunker containing a mysterious machine that claims to offer a chance at resurrection. However, the price to bring someone back is the sacrifice of another life.

When the character goes on a walk he brings back flowers from roadside trees and gardens because it reminds him of her.

Character A knows about all the allergies of Character B and decides to cook their favourite meal.

Every time the Characters are getting dressed, one of them is always mesmerised by the other and stares at the mirror, frozen. Making the other characters blush and hide their face.

Character A knows his partner is a bookworm, so he gifts his partner autographed books.

Calling them before every meeting just to hear their voice because it calms them down.

Genuine question for the Reylo community. Maybe someone can answer this but I remember very clearly on Tumblr in the Reylo fandom when TROS was released that the general consensus was that if Ben was in the World Between Worlds when being written out of the franchise, he would not be able to leave without Rey traveling through time and space to save him. In the same conversation, the same Reylos said “but Anakin didn’t need that and could come and go as he wanted according to The Clone Wars show”. How do you have one but not the other, especially when Ben is part of the Dyad that the Force favors since no other couple in the GFFA has that distinction? Ben only has supernatural skills as Kylo and once Kylo is dead, Ben loses his abilities? That’s how it reads. Why would the favored Dyad half be punished that harshly, except by SW fans and writers who hated Ben? Based on witnessing that experience within the fandom as self proclaimed Reylos in 2020 who disowned Ben said they refused to acknowledge any other version of the World Between Worlds if they even claim it to exist, it seems very hypocritical at minimum for those same people to say “praise be to The World Between Worlds” and “we now have seen that The World Between Worlds is real” now as is the current fixation. If nothing else, it shows that people didn’t respect Ben then or now because it’s an anti-Ben/Kylo (also anti-Adam) fanboy viewpoint. As if they didn’t already win by having one of their own retcon the movies with their screenplay of TROS via online petitions, which in turn retconned the entire GFFA to fit the live action Disney+ spinoffs. The universe in the many tv series is not what existed in the 11 film’s leading up to TROS because the events and characters in the original films don’t exist now except in a parallel universe.
