Dark writing prompts

Some dark writing prompts for the cold winter days :) Number five is my favorite. I wrote a short story about it once. Which one is your favorite?

In a world where emotions are harvested as a powerful energy source, a secret society emerges, exploiting the pain and suffering of individuals to fuel their dark ambitions.

A mysterious antique mirror appears in an old, abandoned house. Anyone who gazes into it experiences glimpses of their worst fears coming to life. What happens when the mirror falls into the wrong hands?

In a dystopian future, a government experiment to control crime goes horribly wrong. Citizens start experiencing their darkest impulses as physical manifestations, leading to chaos and destruction.

A cursed town is shrouded in perpetual darkness, and every year, a single resident must willingly sacrifice themselves to lift the curse for a brief moment. This year, the chosen one has a secret that could change everything.

A talented artist discovers that their paintings have the power to alter reality. However, with each stroke of the brush, a piece of their soul is consumed, leaving them on the brink of madness.

A small community is plagued by a series of unexplainable events, each linked to a children's nursery rhyme. As the rhyme predicts the next tragedy, the townsfolk desperately try to break the curse before it claims them all.

A scientist creates a device that allows people to relive their happiest memories. However, as they delve deeper into the technology, they uncover a hidden layer of forgotten, traumatic experiences that could shatter lives.

In a post-apocalyptic world, survivors discover an underground bunker containing a mysterious machine that claims to offer a chance at resurrection. However, the price to bring someone back is the sacrifice of another life.

A cursed book is said to grant its reader unimaginable knowledge, but at the cost of their sanity. As a desperate scholar seeks its pages, they must confront the malevolent entity within that hungers for their mind.

A detective investigates a series of gruesome murders that seem to be connected by a chilling pattern. As they get closer to the truth, they realize the killer might be something otherworldly, feeding on the fear they instill in their victims.

When Your Character Finds Ways To Show Affection- Romance Prompts

When the character goes on a walk he brings back flowers from roadside trees and gardens because it reminds him of her.

Character A knows about all the allergies of Character B and decides to cook their favourite meal.

Every time the Characters are getting dressed, one of them is always mesmerised by the other and stares at the mirror, frozen. Making the other characters blush and hide their face.

Character A knows his partner is a bookworm, so he gifts his partner autographed books.

Calling them before every meeting just to hear their voice because it calms them down.

One of the many things I love about the Reylo fandom:

We all silently agreed that Ben’s name for Rey is “sweetheart”. Like. Idk how or when it happened. (Reylo became my OTP only three months ago confession-) Maybe it has to do with the novels but everyone just writes that and I fucking love it because it’s adorable and fitting.

Like Ben thinks she’s the most pure,loving, caring, kind soul to exist simply for loving someone like himself (because he’ll never fully forgive himself for everything even if he was manipulated as a minor since he was, ya know, an infant)

But I wanna know what y’all think Rey would call Ben. In my fics I usually go with baby but their mutual pet name is love/ my love. But what are your thoughts, I’m curious-

“I had an overall arc that in mind that [JJ Abrams] wanted to do,” Driver continued. “His idea was that [Kylo’s] journey was the opposite journey of Vader, where Vader starts the most confident and the most committed to the dark side. And then by the last movie, he’s the most vulnerable and weak. He wanted to start with the opposite. This character was the most confused and vulnerable, and by the end of the three movies, he would be the most committed to the dark side. I tried to keep that arc in mind, regardless if that wound up not being the journey anyway, because it changed while shooting. But I was still focused on that.”

“The last one, it changed into being, you know, about them and the dyad, and things like that,” Driver said. “And evolving into Ben Solo. That was never a part of it. He was Ben Solo from the beginning, but there was never a version where we’d see Ben Solo when I first signed up for it.”

Daisy Ridley revealed back in 2020 that her character, Rey, started out as having a connection to none other than Obi-Wan Kenobi before she ended up not having any connection to a pre-existing character in “The Last Jedi.” That was then retconned in “The Rise of Skywalker,” when Rey was revealed as a descendant of Emperor Palpatine.

“At the beginning there was toying with like an Obi-Wan connection,” Ridley said at the time. “There were like different versions, and then it really went to that she was no one. Then it came to Episode IX and J.J. pitched me the film and was like, ‘Oh yeah, Palpatine’s grandaughter.” I was like, ‘Awesome!’ Then two weeks later he was like, ‘Oh, we’re not sure.’ So it kept changing. Even as we were filming I wasn’t sure what the answer was going to be.”

I’m in literal tears. I rewatched the The Rise of Skywalker and i just had a whole emotional breakdown during the kiss scene and Ben’s death. I guess it was a bad idea to watch it right after the Fault in Our Stars 😭😭😭

i'm also not a fan of how even when going the trad pub route, authors are expected to use social media to market their books. and many times it feels like being expected to sell a personality to get people interested enough to look at your work

#just leaving this as that #i drafted a longer version #talking about drama that had popped up about the book 'the black witch' and how booklr tore it to pieces years back #saying it was racist #and mainly repeating what others were saying so i doubt most of them even read the summary #but i lost the plot of my own post so i stopped #i only saw mentions of ppl harrassing muir and bardugo so i don't know much of what happened there #i think in muir's case it was ppl finding her homestuck fics?#and i remember ppl freaking out about 'the love hypothesis' being reylo fic w/ the serial numbers filed off #ik lots of ppl hate the 'mix of x popular media and y popular media' way of marketing #but that can't even be put on the authors for the most part that's usually a pub house choice #but some indie authors might use it too b/c the big idea is to catch someone's attention so they'll then read the actual summary #and then hopefully the book #losing the plot again #i'm just annoyed and auntie isn't answering my text when i need to be there for dinner

Supreme leader / emperor / whatever title Kylo kneeling before general organa is something so personal to me actually

This is the most powerful man in the galaxy, nepo baby squared, cubed, to the max, and he's defied his master for Rey, become the leader, and after ALLLLLLL of that he finally comes to discover the truth ... That snoke was manipulating him his whole life, using the voice of his grandfather to control him. That his grandfather never wanted him to embrace the dark side or kill his father or anyone else actually.

So here he is, atoning for the murder of his father and kneeling before his mother to show that for all that he is, she has his respect. She, a great diplomat, will meet with him and talk peace. He will make the change he wanted to see in the galaxy and he will do so with his mother's help.

(and maybe just maybe Rey, who is with Leia as a guard of sorts, will see the changes he's making and give him a chance)

#i just think hes got mommy issues and they really could have done more with it thats all #i mean i guess they did show us he was completely incapable of killing his mother so theres that #anyway you just know hes a bit attached to reys chest 💀 particularly resting his head there and curling around her #i think he'll find he rather benefits from kneeling in other situations in his future too #rey gets Ideas™ when she sees him do that that she cant help projecting through the bond :p #reylo #headcanons?#i guess #this is hardly even a prompt just a highly highly specific Thought #pleeeeease tell me there are fics where kylo/ben kneels for rey like i know its specific but there's gotta be something good

I found a post on Pinterest a while ago and don’t know who posted it, so take the following as a repost if you will:

Remember in TLJ when Luke is facing Kylo/Ben an it cuts to Rey’s reunion with Finn.

What if right here he felt Rey hugging Finn and it hurt him even more??? Don’t get me wrong, Rey and Finn’s relationship is purely platonic and I’m sure Kylo/Ben is aware of the fact, but what if he felt like the girl he loved more than anything or anyone, his Dyad, left him for that traitor and their little Resistance? What if that’s his though process right now, and it only makes matters worse?

I don’t think I’ll ever shut up about how Emo Vader stan is so damn in love with Scavenger girl-

Ok, I'm surprised.

The Beauty and the Beast Reylo story won?

I was SURE it was going to be The Princess and the Frog Sabezra one��🤔😂😂.

But hey, I'm still happy and excited and I'm going to start working on the first few chapters this weekend and I'll probably post them by Sunday.

Also, thanks so much because I was DYING to get back to writing Reylo and this is like the perfect excuse hahaha.

Ben has a breakthrough moment with Mimi the Porg. Based after TLJ where he is just. obsessed. with finding Rey again and wanting to appeal to her one more time to join him even though she won’t have anything to do with him and so he returns to Ahch-To to look for her and is mopey and pining and a cute lil Porg takes a shine to him and helps him through it. *shrug*
