K for Kakashi!
The one who lingers
Kakashi x Sakura. SFW. 550 words. Fluff with a little angst. Prompt: On the edge of consciousness.
A/N: Part 1 of Snapshots of the ones he loves on AO3. Ask prompts are here.
Tumblr media
Kakashi lets himself fall backwards on the grass, hands splayed over his head, and closes his eyes. A gentle breeze ruffles his silver-white hair. He looks more relaxed than she's seen in a while, including when he sleeps, and the added effect of being outdoors makes him seem unusually open and vulnerable.
Sakura stretches out beside him and is unable to resist tugging on his wayward locks. "They're getting long," she observes.
"Are you saying I need a haircut?"
From the way they usually shoot up in gravity-defying angles, it's easy to assume his hair is naturally coarse and unkempt. But up close, like this, Sakura can see they're silken smooth. "No," she replies, resisting the urge to run her fingers completely through the soft, tantalizing mess. "Just that longer suits you."
Half-lidded grey eyes sneak a peek at her and crinkle in a smile. He reaches up to return the gesture by tucking pink strands behind her ear. "And you, too."
Their eyes linger warmly on each other in quiet appreciation. Leaves rustle playfully on a cool breeze. In this place, seemingly cut off from the rest of the village, Time stands still.
Sakura scoots over and rests her head on the upper bicep of his outstretched arm. "Is this okay?"
He shifts under her so that her head nestles more comfortably onto his shoulder. Her upper arm presses into his side. "Better," he says and turns his head to breathe in the scent of her hair.
She's changed her shampoo recently. Something fresh and mildly citrusy. Kakashi lets the pleasant and strangely familiar scent wash over him and when he closes his eyes, wisps of auburn hair, violet streaks, and a ghostly touch that is distinctly not Sakura’s tease gently along the edge of his consciousness. The memory of a laugh, melodic and pure but not heard in decades, echoes in his ear.
Kakashi jerks awake. His eyes shoot open. "Ri--"
A warm and very real hand presses down on his chest and then, Sakura is gazing down at him, concern etched deeply in her brow. "What is it?" She doesn't like the glazed and disoriented look in his eyes.
Kakashi brings a hand over his face and takes several breaths to gather himself. Its been a long, long time since he's been caught by surprise like that. He curls a hand and rubs the side of his jaw with the knuckles.
"Kakashi."
He looks at Sakura and sighs. "A ghost of a memory," he answers honestly. His hand slides over hers on his chest and squeezes for reassurance-- for her as much as for himself. "Nothing more."
"Is this something... I should check?" she asks, her tone distinctly clinical.
"No."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"No."
He pulls her towards him before he can see her reaction and wraps his arms around her tightly, pressing her flush against him; reminding himself that Sakura is real. She is alive.
She wants to resist, at first. Kakashi is clearly deflecting. But his embrace is so warm, so heartfelt and so needy that she, instead, rests her head on his chest.
Sakura closes her eyes. His heartbeat slows to a calm and soothing rhythm against her ear and that, she tells herself, is all that really matters.

I Found My Light: Chapter 3 (Kakashi x Reader)
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3
A/n: Sorry for the delay! Wasn't sure where I wanted to go with this but it came to me in the shower (as all good ideas do). Hope you enjoy it! This story is far from over.
Summary: You attend the group training session where, to your dismay, Kakashi is in attendance.
Word Count: 1800
Warnings: fem!reader, SFW (but won't be in future chapters), violence, angst
Fanart!: Please check out this fanart inspired by this fic by the talented @szamasza <3
If this training session goes like any other typical training session, you are in for a long one. Training usually begins around mid-day and lasts several hours until everyone feels like they’re on the brink of death. Then, when face down in the dirt, Asuma tries to convince everyone to head to the bar on the main street that gives discounts to shinobi. After a few minutes of resounding I’m-too-tireds and maybe-next-times, everyone gives in and spends the remainder of the night into the next morning crammed in a booth getting absolutely sloshed.
This night was like any other night, except not because your anxiety was at an all-time high.
Kakashi showed up about an hour into training, aloof as ever. You were deep in your spar with Genma when you saw him out of the corner of your eye. Genma must have noticed your distraction, as he didn’t hesitate to spit his senbon at you with full force. Luckily you were refocused in less than a second and caught it between your fingers.
“Nice try, buddy,” you teased him, “It’s going to take more than that to throw me off.”
Genma raised his eyebrow at you. “I don’t know, (y/n), you seemed a little distracted,” he teased.
And just like that, you were back at each other’s throats.
Kakashi ended up finding a spot sparing Gai. Typical of him, as usually Gai is the only one who can keep up ability-wise. Although, Kakashi hasn’t seen how much you’ve grown and a part of you is hoping you’ll get a chance at him. You still have yet to use your chakra sword-whip, your most brutal weapon, in front of your fellow shinobi. It’s remained in its sheath strapped across your back, waiting to be used against the most brutal opponent.
“Alright, alright,” Genma pants, curled up on the ground holding his left side where you just landed a forceful kick, “Please show me some mercy, (y/n).”
“Only if you admit that I’m a better shinobi than you in every way,” you say smugly, crossing your arms across your chest.
“Yes, you are a better shinobi than me in every way. You're stealthy, quick, strong, intelligent, adaptable, beautiful, and, most of all, kind. Which is why you’ll give me my senbon back.” He pleas, still laying on the ground with his hand out to you.
“Mmm, fine,” you tease, pulling the senbon from your hair where you used it to hold it in a bun. “It does make a great hair accessory though. I think I might have to get one for myself.” You help Gemma back up to his feet and stick the metal needle back into his mouth.
He gives you a smirk, still grasping onto your hand. “You should see my collection. I have at least two hundred of these,” he boasts, taking the senbon out of his mouth to twirl it in his fingers. “I‘ll make sure to pick one out for you.”
“I would be honored.” You smile warmly, squeezing his hand.
At this moment you could sense a set of eyes staring at you from the other side of the training field. Well, one eye, you should say, as Kakashi is staring directly at you while he holds Gai in a headlock. His expression is unreadable as his eyes flicker from you to Genma and then back to you. You could swear that you saw his shoulders drop a bit before he brought his attention back to Gai who is currently struggling to breathe in his grasp.
“Ka-ka-shi-ple-ase-le-t-me-go-” Gai gasps, holding onto Kakashi’s arms currently wrapped around his neck. Kakashi’s eyes widen when his attention is brought back to his opponent and he immediately releases Gai from his grasp. With a thud, Gai drops to the floor and sucks in one big breath.
“Are you trying to kill him?!” Kurenai yells as she runs to tend to Gai who is sitting on the ground rubbing his neck. Everyone else on the field stops what they’re doing when they notice the commotion and circle around Gai wondering what happened.
“I’m sorry-” Kakashi starts, hands back in his pockets still staring at Gai wide-eyed.
“Apologies are unnecessary my rival!” Gai cuts in, still gasping for air. “Flashes of my youth came to me as I was falling out of consciousness. It reminded me how much there is to live for. I thank you for the near-death experience, Kakashi!” Gai quickly recovers and stands up, dusting the dirt from his green jumpsuit. “You win this round, but I wouldn’t get used to it!” Gai challenges, holding out a hand for Kakashi to shake.
“Yeah, sure Gai.” Kakashi agrees sheepishly, accepting Gai’s hand.
“Damn, Kakashi.” Genma starts, a smug smile pulling at his mouth. “The Anbu made you a pretty ruthless fighter, huh? I didn’t realize friend-killer Kakashi applied to us too.”
You could hear everyone in the circle try to hold in their gasps after registering Genma’s statement. Kakashi’s whole body stiffened and you could see the appearance of a grimace form under his mask. He is visibly uncomfortable. Yet, instead of looking at Genma who just addressed him, he is looking at you.
You suck in a breath, feeling terrible for Kakashi. Rumors spread, nicknames are formed, it’s all a part of being a shinobi. But “friend-killer Kakashi” is on a whole other level of petty.
That jerk.
“Are you fucking kidding me, Genma?” You turn to him and yell. “What makes you think you can say shit like that?”
“Oh c’mon!” Genma retorts. “We were all thinking it! This is the first time he’s been back training with us since the Anbu. You’ve heard what people have said about him. I’m surprised one of us isn’t already dead!”
This time no one was able to hold in their reactions as gasps escaped everyone in the circle.
You are fuming.
“Actually, Genma, the only one you should be worried about killing you is me because I am a second away from shoving that stupid senbon down your throat.” You take a step forward, challenging him.
“Hey, hey,” Genma retreats, taking a step back with his hands up in defense. “I was just trying to look out for us, for you especially. I mean out of all of us, you should be the most concerned. You know, with the whole situation that happened with Ri-”
You close the gap between you and Genma in seconds, grabbing the collar of his vest, you yank the senbon from his mouth and hold it against his throat.
“If you finish that sentence it will be the last words you ever speak.” You threaten. “You have no idea what you’re talking about. You have no idea the details of what Kakashi has been through. What Rin went through. What I went through. It isn’t your place to speak about a situation you know nothing of. So do us all a favor and shut up.” You let go of his vest and shove him back a couple steps.
“Wow, damn, okay, sorry.” Genma apologizes, a hint of annoyance in his voice. “I was just joking around. There’s no need to be so serious about it, (y/n).”
“My hand went through Rin’s heart,” Kakashi speaks up from his silence. “There’s nothing to joke about.”
Hearing Kakashi speak this hard truth sends a sharp pain through your heart, and you instinctively grasp onto the part of your shirt lying over your chest.
You turn and look back at Kakashi, who meets your eyes.
Pain.
So much pain.
You turn to step towards him, but he’s already retreating from the circle.
“I think that’s it for me today guys. I’ll catch you around another time.” Kakashi says as he turns away from the group giving you one last glance. Heading towards the forest, he reaches around to his pouch and pulls out his Icha Icha novel, bringing it in front of him to pick up where he left off.
After a few silent beats, Asuma claps his hands together to bring attention to him.
“So,” he starts, “drinks anyone?”
Everyone immediately becomes more relaxed now that the focus has shifted. You, on the other hand, are feeling so tense that you start to hear ringing in your ears. You get that Asuma is just trying to relieve the tension in the group, but you can’t help but be annoyed that he’s trying to move on from what just happened so quickly.
Kurenai meets your gaze and can read your annoyance. She gives you a pleading look that says drop it for now, (y/n).
Everyone in the circle, including Genma, give a resounding “yes” and head in the opposite direction of Kakashi back towards the village. You're left alone standing in the middle of the grounds as they make their way out.
“(Y/n), are you coming?” Kurenai calls out to you.
You contemplate for a second and begin to wave her off.
“I think I’m going to stay here for a minute. You guys go on ahead, I’ll meet up with you later,” you reply. Honestly, you have no intention of getting back together with them, as any place where Genma is hanging out is the last place you want to be.
“Okay,” Asuma shouts back at you, “we will be at that one bar on main.”
“As always.” you joke back, trying to sound light-hearted.
Once they are out of sight you turn to look back at the trees that Kakashi exited through. You have absolutely no idea where he could be headed to or how fast he could be traveling through the trees. It might be a waste of time to head out after him. After all, if Kakashi doesn’t want to be found, you have no chance of finding him.
Feeling slightly defeated, you plop down to the ground and sit criss-cross in the dirt. You sit up straight and put both of your hands palm-up on each knee. Taking a deep breath in, you feel the breeze rustle through your hair. Taking a deep breath out, you hear the sound of the trees flowing in the wind.
If he wants to talk, he will come to me. In the meantime, I will meditate.
The next time you open your eyes, it’s dark out.
Damn, how many hours have passed?
You close your eyes.
More time passes.
The next time you open your eyes, Kakashi is sitting a few feet across from you mirroring your position.
His eyes are open.
As if your thoughts are mirroring each other as well, you both speak in unison.
“I’m sorry.”

Stuck in his ways, chapter 3
Chapter summary:  Y/N hit her head, will everything be okay? Obito struggles.
Words: 1.4k
AO3
Please reblog or leave a like if you enjoy <3
Shit, shit, shit! She hit her head, why did she pass out of nowhere?
Obito knew he was not cut for babysitting jobs, but he would not have imagined that he would end up fucking it up so bad. Yeah, he was trying to get rid of the girl so that he could go back to his usual missions, but he had not planned anything like this.
Ok, she still has a pulse at least, but her breathing is too slow. Classic case of chakra exhaustion. But did she even use that many jutsu? He only saw that one chakra punch, nothing else, not even a single clone or substitution jutsu. How can she be already exhausted?
He tries his best to infuse his chakra into her, even if his medical jutsu is mediocre at best, he only recalls the basics that Ri-she taught him.
Y/N looks peaceful, but this situation still sends chills up on Obito’s spine. He was supposed to take care of this girl, but he failed her, he failed someone again. Yet again, someone dies in his arms and this time he is actively guilty for it. Images of the rivers of blood of that night flash through his mind.
His sharingan records Y/N’s face while she sleeps without his knowledge due to the immense stress this is causing him. He hyperventilates, he gets desperate and he struggles to calm back down. This is different from when a partner gets hurt in his usual missions: this is his fault. Why did he have to test her like that?
As a shinobi he should be used to death surrounding him, it is the way of this world. A world that he promised to change when he saw his friend die, a world that he vowed to bring peace to when he, Kakashi and Minato killed Madara and Zetsu. And that was a promise he seeks to achieve by becoming the next Hokage… but what kind of Hokage fails to save his friends and subordinates?
After doing what he can to stabilize Y/N, he picks her up on his lap. He is afraid of carrying her back to the village, since moving her body too much could cause a broken bone to perforate nearby organs and such.
As a ninja, he knows he has to finish this mission, but as a person, he feels that something tells him to take care of this girl. Of course, she is rude, proud, bratty and inconsequential, he has only spent three hours beside her and both cannot stand each other, but he just feels… no… anyway, he just needs to make sure she does not get herself killed… if she even wakes up after this.
Looking at the top of the trees, he sees a lonely bird flying aimlessly from branch to branch, no partner in sight. He closes his eye in anger.
“Fuck… how long have I been out for?”
Glancing down Obito sees that Y/N has regained conscience and is even moving around a little bit. She seems confused by the close proximity between them, looking back and forward to his arm holding her and his face.
Flustered and suddenly very self-conscious, Obito places her back on the ground, distancing his gaze from hers, embarrassed from having been so visibly worried.
“For a couple of minutes. You hit your head though, so we have to make sure you don’t fall asleep again”
“Well, I’m a grown up gal, I can take care of myself, besides, you seem too worried for someone who was just dropkicking me minutes after we met”
“Don’t give yourself too much credit; I’m just doing good on my mission. Are you feeling any pain?”
“Nope, good as new. I’m heading to my apartment, see ya crepp”
With this Y/N tries to get up, only to unbalance herself and fall back on her butt on the ground. Obito makes a show of rolling his only eye as visibly as possible in annoyance. He gets up himself and extends his hand to her to help her get up.
Did I throw stones at some temple in another life to deserve this?
As if trying to check for people around, Y/N takes her time before accepting the Uchiha’s help. With a grunt, she is up, but she shows no capability of being able to sustain her own weight, so Obito puts her arm over his shoulders for balance.
“Hold on tight”
 ~”~
If having to walk around the village with dirt all over her face, body and hair wasn’t enough, Y/N just had to be paraded around draped onto some dude. He did smell nice, even after that earlier scuffle they had. Yes, the scuffle! How could she forget? She caught the bells all right, but she passed out right after. He is certainly taking her to pack her things and kick her out of the leaf.
“Are you… Am I getting kicked out?”
“What? No, I have no power to do that”
She almost falls on her back again as she begins to violently gesture at the Uchiha. Of course he was bluffing, why wouldn’t him?
“You fucker! I knew it!”
“Calm down princess, we’ll talk after you get out of the hospital, stop making a fool out of yourself in the middle of the street, right?”
“Hospital? No fucking way sir! I want to go back to my apartment, and make a plan on how to torture you until the end of time-”
“Sure, sure, like you could actually make my life even worse” He says as he lets out a dry laugh
Y/N actually knows that she should go check that head injury, but it’s not like she would ever admit that to the Uchiha, so she just lets him guide her to the village hospital. Arriving there, Obito leaves her with the nurses that from beyond that point put her through a gigantic set of exams.
If the tons of prodding in the process of joining the village weren’t enough, she now goes through the night taking CAT-scans and having sensors stuck in her head with some nasty jelly in them. She will never forgive Obito for this whole situation. Yeah, she should not have gone through with techniques she knew would be too extreme, but she just had to show to him what she was made of, after all, no one has the right to talk to her like that.
As she ponders about her mean mentor, the nurse comes back with some bad news: she might have a concussion, so she must not sleep for 24 hours at least, just to make sure it doesn’t evolve into a coma or something of sorts.
This is, again, all Obito’s fault.
Yeah, he’ll pay, for sure. But how?
Instantly, a small light turns on over her head. Staying up for that long would for sure be a challenge all by herself; she doesn’t even have her tv installed yet, for fucks sake. She should find herself a companion for the next hours, someone that can entertain her. What’s more entertaining than torturing an asshole?
It must be at least three in the morning when Y/N reaches the Uchiha district. She has searched over ten house’s windows at this point, but no Mr. Creep in sight, that is, until she reaches her final destination. It’s a small but charming wooden house, clearly very old in age but very well taken care of. As she looks into a small window at the back she sees a man with his back turned and the infamous eyepatch bandana sitting over the bedside table.
That’s it!
After carefully checking, she sees that the man lives alone. Good, he’s single. Wait, why is that good? To see that I’m not intruding some poor family’s house, sure! That’s all, ok? Anyway, Y/N opens the window slowly and climbs into the room, which is surprisingly tidy and clean.
Obito sleeps soundly in the bed in the middle of the room, with his belly facing down and sprawled all over the numerous sheets that cover him. Quickly heading to the kitchen, Y/N grabs a saucer and a big spoon, banging both of them against each other as she waltz into the room again.
“Wake the fuck up, Obito Uchiha!” she screams as she bangs the pan and laughs hysterically.
Her joy is cut short when she stumbles upon the following scenario: Obito jumps up from his bed, standing confused with sleeping wrinkles all over his left side and wearing only boxers.
“Huh…”

Obito/OC ramblings from Jules. How unexpected
I wanted to dip my toe into the ever-popular Uchiha crime family modern AU I still dont know what I’m doing
-----
"We have got to stop meeting like this."
Akari's words are light and teasing, despite the fact that she holds a tantō in one hand, the other busy holding a man up by his hair. Even from across the warehouse, Obito knows the man is already dead.
Obito's shoulders bunch somewhere near his ears, annoyance clear in his single exposed eye. This is the fourth time in six months, Madara is going to kill him for losing a mark to another, damn her -
"He was marked by the Uchiha. ROOT has no business interfering." Obito doesn't rise to her bait, stamping down any annoyance as he pulls a butterfly knife free from his hip. Her eyes watch as his fingers and wrist elegantly twist, making the blade shine in the moonlight spilling in from a high window.
The woman sighs, letting the corpse drop without ceremony. She wipes her soiled blade on his jacket, tossing her short braid over her shoulder. As she approaches, Obito takes a step back, wary of the weapon she holds and keenly aware of the fact that despite the levity between their odd meetings, they're on opposite sides of a secret war for control of Konoha's shadows.
"You're the dog of the Uchiha, the scarred enforcer. The big, bad, man who gets called for the messiest jobs. You'd think you'd be a bit quicker to the draw," Akari says with a steadily growing smirk, still intent on closing the distance between them. Obito's eye narrows, lip curled into a snarl as he stills, holding up his blade in warning.
"Keep out of Uchiha business," is all he says, voice pitched low. He bristles when her only response is a snicker, light and musical and it really shouldn't make his gut clench like that.
"He was double-dealing Madara and Danzō both. Our bosses sent the best, but I was faster. As usual," Akari adds with a roll of her shoulders.
"Oh, I'm plenty quick," he snarks without thinking, corner of his mouth turning down when he realizes -
"So that's why you're single. And here I thought it was the winning personality that kept any suitable spouses at bay." She's grinning, now; Obito flushes deep enough his face practically lights up in the darkness, sucking in a quick breath.
"That's not - I don't -"
"Settle down, cowboy. Might hurt yourself."
Obito splitters, fist tightening around his knife as he inches forward. "You really want me to kill you this time, don't you, Shimura?"
Akari's spine goes instantly stiff. She bares her teeth, blade singing as she brings it up, pointed towards his throat. "You know that's not my name." Her voice has gone cold, any humor gone in a flash.
Stupid, for her to show a weakness in the face of an enemy. An opportunity Obito takes full advantage of, his lips curving into a smirk as he levels his knife right back at her. "Sore subject, A-ka-ri?" He draws out her name, testing the way it rolls over his tongue. Refuses to acknowledge the thought that he likes it.
Akari scoffs, her smile returning. He feels a small thrill at the red that dusts her cheeks. "You say my name like that when you're alone in the mornings?" She tilts her head to the side, an open challenge.
"Can you two decide if you're going to fight or fuck, it's chilly up here," a voice dripping boredom interrupts, making Akari's eyes go wide. She lowers her stance, free hand going to the waistband of her pants.
"Friend of yours?" She asks, voice airy and light even as she pulls free a low-cal pistol. Obito resists the urge to groan in frustration, already turning his back towards the door to make his exit, his eye not leaving hers.
"Surprised you didn't notice the sight aimed at your back," he says with a wide smirk, glancing quickly up where he knows Kakashi perches.
"Ah, so that's what that was. Thought you were just staring at my ass again," Akari responds with a thoughtful hum, smile still in place even as she tightens her hold on the gun.
"You're getting sloppy. Would hate for the Elders to find out ROOT'S best is losing her touch," Obito says, shrugging before pocketing his knife. His words have no bite to them, no real threat; he wouldn't dare break their strange dance of cat and mouse, not when he's found a unique and addictive thrill to their game.
Akari snorts, brown eyes dark in the dim lighting. Her expression eases, just a little. "See you around, handsome." Her voice is soft, just for him, before she's stepping back into the shadows, disappearing before he can blink.
Obito pauses for a beat, sighing softly. Shaking his head, he turns for the door, pausing to point at Kakashi, not even bothering to look up when he knows all he'll see in his friend's face is self-satisfaction. Which is honestly impressive, considering he only ever has one single eye uncovered. "Not a word from you."

That Strange Feeling Called Love 13-18
This is chapters thirteen through eighteen of a narusai fic. You can also read it on Ao3. (Still attempting to not clutter the narusai tag haha)
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7-12 | 13-18
Next
Sai awoke to the sound of voices and some sort of heat by his side. Someone was mumbling about ramen by his ear.
“Look at Naruto. The dunce is fast asleep!” Someone’s voice. Low, annoyed. Kiba, probably. Sai could hear the hint of a snarl in his voice.
“Oh, just leave him alone, will you?” Another voice. Sakura’s. “Anyway, I need to wake Sai next…”
“I’m awake,” Sai said, opening his eyes. “It just wore off.”
Sakura was kneeling above him, a vial in her hand, probably meant to undo the effects of the drug that had put them all to sleep. Fortunately, the fact that she was here was proof enough that Kakashi had made it in time to prevent her from getting killed by Sasuke, even though Sai had failed to stop her.
“Hngh… Make it an extra-large bowl of ramen…”
Sai blinked, looking beside him and finding a certain blond ninja curled into his side, drooling over his dreams of a good meal. Naruto’s forehead rested against Sai’s shoulder, his arms lightly curled around Sai’s arm. He was so close that, if Sai hadn't been wearing his cloak, Naruto's hands would be brushing against the bare skin of Sai's midriff.
Sai’s body processed his embarrassment before his mind did, his pale cheeks burning pink. He rushed to sit up, but Naruto clutched at his cloak, grumbling incoherently in his sleep. Sai paused his movements, propping himself up on his elbows as he debated on what to do.
It wasn’t often that they were this close without any reason. Naruto made exceptions for when he was injured and needed assistance, but it was more often the case that he kept his distance. If Sai got too close, Naruto would tense, his expression becoming strange in ways Sai didn’t quite know how to describe. His blue eyes would narrow and darken, and he would struggle to look Sai in the eye.
For Naruto to be this close to him without any real need for it… For Naruto to be the one to initiate that closeness, even while asleep…
Sai didn’t know how to describe it. His chest felt… bubbly. Light. Warm.
Another feeling he didn’t understand.
“Naruto.”
“Mmn… Sure, Sai, I’ll… hmm… have some of your ramen too…”
Sai shook his head at Naruto’s sleeping form, his cheeks still hot. He laid his hands over Naruto’s, pulling his fingers away from the cloak, one by one, trying not to move too much. He didn’t want to pull Naruto out of whatever pleasant dream he was having.
Sai was grateful that Naruto could still have pleasant dreams, after all that he’d been through.
“You two sure are chummy,” Kiba said, his arms crossed over his chest, and Sai stiffened, moving Naruto’s hands away from himself and onto the grass.
“I’m not sure what you mean,” Sai lied, putting some distance between himself and Naruto.
As Sai had grown more accustomed to having casual conversations, such jokes and teasing were no longer lost on him. He knew what Kiba was implying.
Sai didn’t know whether or not he thought the implication was true. Not yet.
Even so, it didn’t change the fact that it was terribly embarrassing, especially with Naruto still scooting towards him in his sleep. Kakashi snorted at them, and Sai was shocked to find that his cheeks grew even hotter. He wondered if there was a danger to blushing so furiously. Sai worried he might hurt himself if this went on any longer. He placed his fingertips over his warm cheeks, trying to recall if he ever read a way to immediately stop oneself from blushing. Maybe his studies on feelings hadn't been thorough enough.
At that moment, part of Sai regretted finally experiencing what emotions were. Maybe Lord Danzo had been doing him a favor by having him lock his feelings away…
Wait. Danzo.
Sai’s hand moved to his throat. It felt surprisingly… light. Like something that had been suppressing him was now gone.
Sai forced his focus to shift away from Naruto. Something wasn’t right. He turned to Sakura, preparing to open his mouth and have her check something. He couldn’t sense the curse mark on his tongue.
“Could you… take a look at this?”
More serious matters had come up, for now. He could—and probably would—think about his feelings for Naruto later.
“Nn… Sai, I can’t eat anymore… unless… you pay for my next bowl…”
More serious matters had come up, but Naruto was still sleeping.
Such a sweet, simple-minded fool.
~ ~ ~
Somehow it had gotten to the point where Naruto had to pretend to be angry when Sai teased him.
Not that he particularly liked it when the pale ninja said that Naruto was “too simple-minded to form complex thoughts,” but it was still an effort to keep up that annoyance. It was an effort to force any anger towards Sai to linger. It used to be that just being near Sai grated on Naruto’s nerves. Now even cruel comments couldn’t keep Naruto feeling negatively towards Sai for long.
Maybe it was the fact that it didn’t seem like Sai’s comments stemmed from a place of malice anymore. They weren’t insensitive, coldhearted insults said with a false smile. They were genuine jokes, so much so that Sai couldn’t even keep a straight face. So much so that Sai lifted his hand to his mouth, as if he was preparing to stifle his laughter.
Maybe it was the fact that Sai was laughing at all that made it hard to stay angry. It was Sai, the man who took weeks just to show Naruto a genuine smile. And now he could tease and joke and grin and laugh—
What a good laugh it was too. Sweet, giddy, almost childish. Like a giggle. It was just so… nice.
But that didn’t stop Naruto from wanting to deter any more insults while he still could.
“Sai, what’s your problem? When did you ever develop a sense of humor?”
Sai simply kept grinning.
“Why, thank you for recognizing it.”
“I wasn’t being nice when I said that!”
Naruto kept the scowl on his face, but as much as he made a fuss about being teased, there was something fun about bickering with his friends.
…And it felt worth it, if he could get Sai to laugh again.
Naruto heard a snort behind him and whipped his head around to look back at the rest of the group behind him. Kiba and Akamaru were at the very rear, with Sakura, Lee, Kakashi, and Sai filling out the center of the group. And that pink-haired girl who used to be on Sasuke’s team was being carried on Kakashi’s back.
Kiba’s smug grin immediately let Naruto know who had snorted.
“What?” Naruto snapped.
“I was just thinking how it’s funny you can be all tough now, after hanging all over Sai in your sleep,” Kiba said, his arms crossed over his chest.
Naruto’s cheeks burned.
“W-what the—I didn’t do anything like that!”
“You calling me a liar?”
“Yeah, I am! I woke up by a tree and Sai was nowhere nearby!”
“That’s ‘cause he moved away like any sane person would with an idiot like you clinging to them!”
Naruto glared at Kiba once more before his gaze swept the group, hoping for someone to step in for him. He was pretty out of it when he laid down, but he would’ve remembered if he had really done that to Sai!
…Right?
“Well…” Kakashi said with a tilt of his head. “You were clinging to him, Naruto. I didn’t think it important enough to point out, but…”
Naruto’s face got redder with every passing second. He whirled around to face Sai, who simply averted his gaze, his cheeks pink.
“Wha—I—” Naruto’s hands clenched into fists at his sides. “I-if I did, then it’s Sakura’s fault, you know? She’s the one who poisoned me and made me sleepy in the first place—”
A harsh fist knocked against the back of his head and quickly shut Naruto up.
“Don’t bring me into this mess, you jerk! I accepted fault for the poison, but it’s not my problem that you were crying out for Sai in your sleep!”
“Sakura,” Sai started, his already pink face quickly getting redder, “I think that’s enough. Naruto did say my name, but that’s not the same as crying out—”
“Agghhh, alright! Everyone just shut up! I get it!” Naruto slapped his hands over his ears, his shoulders hunching.
Naruto renounced everything he said about liking bickering with his friends. Actually, they weren’t even his friends. Horrible tormentors, the whole lot of them—
Naruto heard laughter behind him and gritted his teeth. It wasn’t Sai’s laugh, but even if it had been, Naruto wasn't sure the pleasant sound would have been enough to appease him.
“What, Bushy Brow?” Naruto snapped, turning his glare on Lee, who merely smiled brightly back at him.
“Oh nothing,” Lee said, eyes bright. “You just seem like your old self again, Naruto!”
“He means you haven’t grown up at all,” Kiba immediately added. “Once an idiot, always an idiot.”
“If anyone’s an idiot, then you are, Kiba! You idiot!”
“Hey, no idiot gets to call me an idiot!”
Sai’s laughter cut through their argument, immediately proving that yes, it did have the power to appease Naruto, even at this level of annoyance. Yet that instant hit of joy he got from hearing the laugh somehow only served to make Naruto even angrier. He was supposed to be mad right now, dammit!
“Sai, quit it, I’ve had enough of your laughing!”
And this, of course, only made Sai laugh even harder. Which made Lee laugh again. Then Sakura. And Kakashi. And even Kiba.
Before he could even try to stop himself, Naruto was laughing along too.
~ ~ ~
They were going to be separated soon.
Sai didn't know that yet, but they were. Naruto would be sent off to a remote island, to keep him safe and to help him train and get stronger. To help him learn to control the beast residing with him. It would take patience and effort and time and his usual team would not be going with him.
But Sai didn't know that yet.
All Sai knew was that they were finally back at the village. Naruto’s quest to find Sasuke was on pause, and, at least for the moment, they had no missions. They could relax, at least for a few days.
Sai’s plan was simply to take advantage of the time off. He could go to the library and see if there was anything he wanted to read, or take some time to just draw and unwind…
“Hey, Sai!”
Or… not.
He turned and saw Naruto waving at him from down the street, wearing a wide grin. Upon making eye contact, Naruto jogged over to him, and a smile formed on Sai’s lips. Time with Naruto outside of missions was always welcome.
Seeing him now made that warm feeling return to Sai’s chest, fuzzy and insistent. He still didn’t know what it was; he hadn’t always had this reaction from simply being around Naruto, and he had never felt anything similar from being around his older brother.
It was like happiness, but sometimes it would ache. And it would bring thoughts into Sai’s head that would normally never come, like how the sun brightened Naruto’s blue eyes to such a brilliant hue that Sai wasn’t sure if he could recreate the color with paint if he tried. It was a vibrant, persistent emotion that deeply affected Sai, that seemed to change him more and more every time he felt it.
And it was a feeling reserved for Naruto and Naruto alone.
Sai… Sai had read about something like it before, but he had never thought… He had never thought he would ever be capable of feeling something so strong, not when it still felt like a miracle that he could feel enough to laugh and be angry. It wasn’t so long ago that he couldn’t muster up enough emotion, enough opinionated thought to name his own drawings, and now…
“Hey, what’s the glum look for, huh?”
Naruto leaned a little closer, looking up at Sai with his eyes narrowed.
“Nothing,” Sai said instantly, still smiling.
No. Sai was certain he was mistaken about his feelings. There was simply no way someone like him could ever…
…He didn’t even want to admit it.
It didn’t matter anyway. For Naruto, there were so many others, so many people he possessed stronger bonds with. There was Sakura, who Naruto openly said that he loved. Hinata, who nearly caused Naruto to lose himself to hatred when she was hurt by Pain. And of course, Sasuke… Sasuke who Naruto had relentlessly chased, who Naruto was still chasing. The man Naruto once said knew him best.
So Sai’s feelings, whatever they were… They were irrelevant at best.
He and Naruto were friends. Sai was more than happy with just that.
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I am,” Sai said, nodding his head. “Did you need something?”
“Oh.” Naruto grinned again, leaning back. “I was going to ask you if you wanted to come with me to Ichiraku’s.”
Naruto’s grin morphed into a smirk, wiping at his nose briefly.
“I’ll even do you a favor and let you pay for my ramen.”
This time, when Sai smiled, it was genuine.
“I would gladly go with you.”
Naruto’s smile widened. His gaze dropped to the floor, cheeks reddening.
“Y-yeah? Good!”
“It’s the least I can do,” Sai continued, eyes narrowing. “Since, when you were sleeping earlier, you begged me so nicely.”
Naruto let out a sound like he was choking, his sheepish smile morphing into a glare.
“If you’re going to be like that, I’m taking the invitation back, you know! I’ll pay for my own meal!”
Even Naruto’s annoyed expression added to the warm, light feeling in Sai’s chest. He wanted to capture the moment, he wanted to tease Naruto more, he wanted to touch Naruto, bring him closer—
He wanted to do so many things that it was hard to refrain.
“I’m simply making good on whatever promise I made to you in your dream.”
“Would you quit it with the dream stuff? I don’t even remember that!”
Naruto huffed, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Forget it,” Naruto grumbled. “I’ll go by myself.”
He marched down the street with the intention of leaving Sai behind, but Sai simply followed, undeterred by Naruto’s grumpy attitude.
“I said I’ll go by myself.”
“Yes, I heard you the first time.”
“Then why the hell are you coming with me, you jerk!”
“Perhaps I’ve decided I also want ramen.”
Naruto heaved a sigh, grumbling to himself, but he didn’t make any further attempts to make Sai go away. Sai laughed a little, stepping closer to Naruto as they walked side by side down the road.
“Was there any particular reason you invited me, Naruto?”
“Just wanted to spend time with you, but I’m starting to think that was a mistake…”
The second half of Naruto’s sentence completely went over Sai’s head because of how badly he was affected by the first part. Sai wasn’t sure he’d ever heard Naruto say that before. It sent a shock through him like the adrenaline from a fight; his heart skipped a beat.
Sai pressed his lips together in an attempt to not let his smile spread too wide.
It was such a simple statement. He wanted to spend time with Sai. It was nothing monumental, but… But Sai's chest filled with a sort of light-hearted warmth at the sound of it, like heat from a candle's fire. Like distilled happiness was pouring inside of him.
It was only Naruto that could make him like this, that could cause him to be giddy at the smallest things.
“When we get there,” Naruto said firmly, “I’m paying for my own bowl, alright? So just forget about whatever I said to you when I was asleep earlier.”
“No,” Sai said. “I’ll pay for you; however much you’d like to eat.”
“I’m telling you, forget about the dream—”
“It’s not that,” Sai said quickly, pausing on the street. “I would just… like to treat you.”
Naruto’s gaze widened before he quickly looked away from Sai.
“O-oh.” Naruto cleared his throat. “Not sure why you’d wanna do that, but… fine.”
Sai was perfectly happy being friends. This desire to do things for Naruto, to take care of him, spoil him—that was all part of being friends.
He just had to keep telling himself that.
~ ~ ~
Sai was… really attractive when Naruto stopped to think about it. Soft, round facial features. Dark, serious eyes. Plump, pale lips that looked so soft…
It wasn’t like Naruto had never noticed Sai was good-looking. That was the first thing so many girls said when they met Sai. Besides, Naruto had noticed that Sai was attractive before he even thought Sai was a good person.
It was just… It felt like Naruto had never really stopped to appreciate it until now. Like Sai had somehow gotten more attractive in the time they had known each other. Maybe it was that they were a little older now than when they had met—not much older, but still, they were technically older. Maybe it was that Sai smiled more now. Maybe it was because Sai had softened a little, his default expression no longer so cold.
Maybe it was just that Naruto liked Sai more now.
When they first met, they didn’t get along well. Now, Naruto saw him as a friend. Maybe… Maybe even as something more.
Did Sai…
How did Sai see Naruto? Naruto didn’t think of himself as particularly bad-looking, but being stuck around Sasuke for the majority of his childhood hadn’t exactly helped his confidence. All the girls in the academy fawned over Sasuke, cooed about how handsome he was, and then they would look at Naruto and have nothing to say.
Nothing good to say, anyway.
But Sai was different from them. First off, Naruto didn’t even know if Sai was capable of being attracted to anybody. When they first met, Sai was so devoid of emotion that he told Naruto that he didn’t feel anything towards anyone, not even feelings of dislike.
Then again… Sai had called Sakura ugly, but he called Ino beautiful. Maybe he liked curvier women? Naruto couldn’t blame him there; it wasn’t a bad preference to have. Or maybe… maybe… Did Sai like blondes?
Naruto cleared his throat harshly, shaking his head. He was taking this thing too far. That would be way too convenient. He was thinking too hard about this anyway. It didn’t matter how good-looking Sai was or if he liked blondes or if there was the tiniest possibility that he could think Naruto was good-looking too—
“Naruto?”
Naruto—who had been shoveling ramen into his mouth in an attempt to clear his mind—nearly choked. Sai, sitting beside him at the restaurant, quickly leaned over and patted his back, trying to help him out.
“Wh-what, Sai?”
“It just looked as if you were thinking of something serious. Are you alright?”
“O-oh.” Sometimes Naruto forgot how attentive Sai was. “It was nothing, you know? Don’t worry about it.”
Sai frowned.
“Are you sure?”
Actually… This could be an opportunity.
“Uh, actually,” Naruto began, cheeks warming. “This isn’t related to what I was thinking at all, but… What kinda stuff do you find attractive?”
Sai tilted his head.
“I’m not sure what you mean.”
“Well, you know, it’s when you look at somebody and there are parts of them that make you wanna…” Naruto cleared his throat. “I-I don’t know. When you want to touch 'em or kiss 'em or date 'em. Things like that, you know?”
Sai pulled a notebook and pencil out of his pocket.
“I thought the name of those feelings was love,” Sai said.
“I mean, it can be, but sometimes you find someone hot or something without even knowing who they are, you know? For me personally, you’ve gotta get to know someone before you love them. And sometimes you think somebody’s attractive but you still don’t love them even after getting to know them…”
Sai nodded along seriously, diligently copying Naruto’s words into his notebook. He even repeated some of the concepts under his breath as he jotted them down. Naruto almost felt a little bad; he felt like he wasn’t the best person to be explaining this to Sai, especially when Naruto was still confused about his own feelings. Maybe it would have been better for Sai to learn this from a book. Or from Sakura, even.
Or maybe, without input from someone else at all.
“Naruto.”
“Huh?”
“What things do you find attractive?”
Naruto’s cheeks burned and his hands floundered. His eyes darted around the restaurant, desperately trying not to meet Sai’s gaze.
“W-w-why?”
“Because you asked me, and I need examples before I can create my own opinion.”
…Naruto never should’ve asked.
“Fine, I’ll tell you," Naruto said, tilting his chin up and crossing his arms over his chest. "But there’s exceptions to everything, alright? Sometimes I'm into things I never even thought I liked, you know?”
Sai nodded, flipping to a new page in his notebook. Naruto heaved a sigh, ducking his head. It was fine. This stuff normally didn’t embarrass him. It would be just like teaching Konohamaru tips for his Sexy Jutsu; totally casual.
“If we're just talking generally, I'm a fan of any pretty face. Oh, and usually, the curvier the better." Naruto glanced at Sai, his eyes drifting over the pale ninja’s figure almost against his will, quickly becoming distracted by the sight. “But there’s something nice about the slender types too… And dark hair… And eyes like yours…”
Sai’s eyes widened, his cheeks growing pink.
“Like mine?”
Naruto’s mind snapped back into focus, blushing so hard he could feel the heat on his neck.
“N-no, I just meant—Because your eyes are dark—I just like dark eyes, not yours specifically—”
“Naruto—”
“Oh, boy, I sure did eat a lot today!” Naruto exclaimed, slamming his hands on the counter and pushing himself out of his seat. “Thanks for coming with me, Sai. I’d better get going.”
“Wait, Naruto—”
Sai reached out for him, but Naruto dodged his hands, taking off from the restaurant at a dead sprint. He told himself that he would see Sai soon. They could see each other again and act normally, as if this whole thing never even happened. He just needed a few days to cool his head so that he could live this down.
If he didn’t, he wasn’t sure he’d ever be able to look Sai in the eye again.
He just needed a few days, that was all.
Naruto didn't know that, in a few days, he'd be gone, sent away to a remote island. He didn't know that the last Sai would see of him for quite a while was his back as he ran away.
~ ~ ~
Before the war began, Sai painted a picture of himself and Naruto.
The Leaf Village was still rebuilding from Pain's attack when the fighting started. Homes on the outskirts were still just rubble, waiting to be demolished and made anew.
In the rubble, Sai found a place to reminisce and a surface to use his paintbrush. He painted himself and Naruto in the perfect fantasy of peace: Team 7 standing together, even Sasuke, and Sai beside them too, holding Naruto’s hand.
Sai still didn’t particularly like Sasuke, but he was sure that if Sasuke were to return, Naruto would finally be at ease. So much of his pain would disappear. He wanted that for Naruto more than anything. He wanted Naruto to be happy.
Part of Sai felt almost like… like he owed a debt to Naruto. Because Naruto was the one who helped him remember how important it was to have faith in people. Naruto helped him gain new friendships and bonds and even allowed Sai to remember how important his old bonds were.
Would he have ever gained peace about his brother without Naruto? Would he ever have been able to draw that picture of him and Shin smiling together without Naruto?
Sai was so grateful. Painfully, immensely grateful.
When the painting was done and the ink was dry, Sai allowed himself to look closer at the Naruto that he painted. He was happy, smiling. Sai brushed his thumb across his inky cheek, as if wiping away a smudge that wasn’t there.
…Naruto had never let him answer that question. What did Sai find attractive? If he had been asked a year ago—no, even just a few months ago, Sai would have said nothing at all.
But now…
If Sai had answered, what would Naruto have done? Given Naruto’s own examples, Sai could only think of unruly blond hair, bright blue eyes and a stubborn, almost childish grin. Body type was irrelevant to him; he was sure that he would like Naruto in any form—
Sai stepped away from the painting, forcing his hands to his sides.
At first, Naruto’s words had confused him. He wasn’t sure how someone could ever tell who they loved, if attraction exhibited similar symptoms. Many books had taught him that love was what Naruto called attraction. The desire to touch, kiss, and date.
But books had also taught him that love was struggling to stop oneself from smiling around the person they cared about. It was wanting to help them, putting themselves on the line for them. It was thinking of them above almost all else.
Sakura had told Sai not to trust what he read in manga so much, but…
How else was Sai supposed to understand that warm, aching feeling in his chest? Friendship manuals only went so far, and Naruto’s descriptions only lead to more confusion.
So, so much confusion.
Dark hair… Slender… Eyes like yours…
Sai didn’t understand anything.
Perhaps, if it had come to this, it was simply better to just ask someone while he had the chance.
~ ~ ~
Naruto hadn’t known he was going to be sent away when he ran from Sai that day. All he had wanted was a few days to clear his head.
He didn’t know he was going to be sent off to a remote island the very next day. Sure, he was grateful that Granny Tsunade trusted him enough to send him on an S-rank mission (or, so he was told at the time), but, but…
But now practically the last thing he said to Sai was that he liked Sai’s eyes, and then he ran away! Sai was dull sometimes, but even he had understood there was something fishy about that. And besides, half the other things he said were just descriptions of Sai! It would have been better if he played it off as a coincidence, but no, he ran away in shame in the most conspicuous way possible. He might as well have said he was in love with Sai and then run away; the effect was just as bad.
Not that Naruto was in love with Sai. Thinking Sai was hot and being in love with Sai were two completely different things. Naruto thought Sasuke was hot and—
…No. Bad example.
Naruto almost wished he could say that his feelings for Sasuke proved he wasn’t into Sai, but that just wasn’t true. What had been a powerful childhood crush was back to friendship. He still cared about Sasuke, of course. He probably would forever. But… not like that. Not anymore.
There was Sakura too though! Naruto had been in love with her for what felt like forever. With feelings for her in his heart, surely that meant that he couldn’t be into Sai!
…Except when she had confessed to him, all he had felt was frustration. She had been lying then, trying to get him to agree to everyone’s decision to kill Sasuke. Naruto knew that; that was why he had rejected her. But… even if it was a lie, a part of him should have been happy, right? If he really loved her so much, shouldn’t he have held onto a little sliver of hope?
But Naruto didn’t even consider it. There wasn’t a single part of him that heard Sakura say “I love you” and imagined a future with her.
When did that happen? Sasuke, he could understand; they’ve been apart for so many years now, fighting and arguing with each other every time they meet. But Sakura… Naruto and Sakura had actually gotten closer as time passed. She relied on him more, said kinder things to him than she ever did when they were kids. She held a big place in his heart, even now. In fact, he was sure he still loved her.
Just… not in the way he used to. He loved her as a friend. He was no longer trying to flirt and attempt to be her boyfriend. He was no longer clinging to every little bit of affection she gave like his life depended on it. He even used to get mad at Sai all the time for interrupting their alone time! Now something like that didn’t even impact him.
So when… Why had that all changed?
Could it be that Sai… Was Sai the reason his feelings changed?
No, no. It couldn’t be. Not weird, gloomy, rude Sai. Sai who made crass dick jokes at Naruto practically every time they talked when they first met. Sai who would get on Naruto’s nerves and had the gall to say that it wasn’t from a place of malice or anger because he “simply didn’t feel anything at all.” Sai who kept dragging Naruto into his punishments whenever he called Sakura ugly.
But even as Naruto tried to convince himself of all that, part of him knew that it was hopeless. Because Sai had changed since then.
Because now Sai showed him smiles—genuine, from the heart smiles—all the time. Because now if Sai said rude things, he meant them with the best of intentions or he meant them as jokes. Because now Sai got angry on Naruto’s behalf. Because when all of his friends tried to hide the truth about their plans to kill Sasuke, Sai was the one who couldn’t bear to leave Naruto in the dark. Because when those ninja from the Hidden Cloud beat Naruto so badly he could barely stand, Sai jumped in to protect him. Sai held him up. Sai listened to him. Sai patched his wounds. Sai was there for him when he was hurt because Naruto couldn’t bear to saddle Sakura with worry. Sai was someone Naruto could trust with that worry, someone Naruto wasn’t afraid to show weakness to. Because Sai watched over him. Because he believed that Sai cared about him.
Because he cared about Sai too, way more than he liked to admit.
…Naruto hoped this mission wouldn’t be long. He needed to go back soon. He… He had something he needed to tell Sai now.
He just needed to work up the courage to actually say it.

Obito x Reader
The beach trip (Part 1)
(The next part here---- https://sweetyaoigirl.tumblr.com/post/660118916791664640/the-beach-trip-part-2-the-previous-part-here )
Tumblr media
Kakashi and Rin invited me on the trip to beach to let me relax from work.
But I didn't know that they invited someone else too.
Someone I know very well.
When the person entered the van my eyes widened.
Obito ?
Oh you are here already Obito. Rin smiled.
Took you long enough. Kakashi said.
Of course they invited him too. How could I forget ?
Those three were with each other their entire childhood.
"You didn't hate Obito at all. It was the opposite. You love him so much that you can't even look him into the eyes."
I hope you don't mind we invited Obito too. Rin said to you.
N-no it's okay. I shuttered.
So we can finally go. Kakashi started driving.
Rin was sitting next to Kakashi and I was sitting next to Obito.
Such a bad luck.
The awkwardness was too high between the two of us.
"Obito didn't know about your crush towards him since he was too blind to even look at you."
His eyes were on Rin all the way until you all came to your destination.
Y/N look it's the sea ! Isn't it pretty ? Rin asked already dragging me of the van.
Yeah it is. I nodded.
Rin was your best friend. You didn't mind her at all.
Just jealous.
In your eyes Rin was more pretty, cute, smart and kind.
No wonder Obito loves her.
But Rin is dating now Kakashi. Obito suggested that idea to Kakashi a year ago that they should start dating.
He wants to see Rin happy. At first Kakashi didn't liked that idea but soon fell in love with Rin.
Obito was happy for them.
But he still had a strong feelings towards Rin.
Let's go Y/N ! Rin took my hand..
W-wait Rin ! I'm coming. You don't need to drag me.
Let the ladies play. We will go book rooms. Kakashi said to Obito.
Obito only nodded.
I can't wait to show my new swimsuit to Kakashi.
This is going to be so much fun. Rin clapped her hands happily.
Yeah...
Don't look so nervous Y/N. Everything will be fine. Obito isn't some kind of pervert so you will be okay in your swimsuit too.
No that's not it ! I'm not nervous about that at all.
Then what is it ?
Are you sure that it was good idea to invite me ?
Of course. Y/N you are such a hardworker and you need a rest too.
Oh I forgot to tell Kakashi that you two should have your own rooms.
What did you said ? I can't be with Obito on the same room ! Rin help me. I begged.
Don't worry I'm sure that Kakashi should know that. We should go now. It's so dark already.
I followed Rin and the boys were already waiting for us two.
So how is it with rooms ? Rin asked.
Rooms are reserved. Kakashi said.
Does Y/N and Obito have their own rooms ? Rin asked nervous.
Oh I forgot about that. Kakashi said.
You can't be serious. I said.
I'm serious. Kakashi said.
No way. I fell on my knees.
I'm just kidding ! Kakashi chuckled.
Stop Kakashi. Rin playfully smacked his head.
Now move things up. Kakashi said.
Should I help you Rin ? Obito asked.
No thank you Obito. Kakashi is helping me. How about you help Y/N ? I'm sure that she can't do it all alone.
You don't need to. I'm fine. I said.
Nonsense. I'm helping you Y/N.
Thank you. I avoided his eyes again.
When Obito bringed the last box to my room i thanked him and closed the door.
The next day we all were finally able to go to beach to have some fun.
This trip is going to be more stressful than my work.
Y/N stop hiding. Show yourself too. Rin said.
I tried to cover my chest since I was wearing bikini but no one seemed to notice since both boys were too busy admiring Rin.
Rin truly looked beautiful in her swimsuit.
All attention was now on me.
You look beautiful Y/N. Bikini looks really good on you. Rin said and looked back at the boys to say something.
You look great Y/N. Kakashi said while Obito only nodded.
Thank you. I said shily when I looked at Obito.
I haven't seen Obito without a shirt yet but now I can tell that he looks so hot.
Is something wrong Y/N ? Obito asked me which made me realize that I was spacing out.
Nothing. Really. Just don't burn yourself. I said the first words that appeared in my head.
How stupid. Of course he knows it even without me.
Yeah I won't thanks. But you should worry about yourself. You are showing too much skin.
What's wrong with showing too much skin Obito ? We are at the beach. I think Y/N looks really pretty. Rin smiled.
If it's really that big problem I can go buy similiar swimsuit like Rin has.
No there's no reason to do that. Obito was just trying to be nice. Right Obito ? Kakashi elbowed him.
I was not trying Kakashi. I care about Y/N so that's why I said that.
I knew it. Obito you are so nice. Rin said in awe while Obito's heart suddenly started beating harder.
He cares about me. I don't know if he was lying or not but this made me happy. He doesn't show any discust when he looks at me even if it's just for a second like now.
If only he looks at me like he is looking at Rin right now.
Y/N let's go collect seashells. Rin suggested while I only nodded.
You two don't go so far. Don't make me worry. Kakashi said to us.
We will be fine Kakashi. You worry too much. Rin dragged me somewhere and I only followed her looking back at Kakashi and Obito who were most likely trying to have some competition.
Oh there ! Y/N come here ! There are a lot of seashells. Let's clean them up in water since some of them are dirty.
Okay. What are you gonna do with that seashells ?
I'm just collecting them. I might make as well some necklace later.
That's a good idea. Making a necklace...
Y/N are you okay ? You know that you don't need to be so awkward around Obito. He is your friend too right ?
Yes a friend. Of course he is. I'm just not good with boys that's all. I lied hiding it with my laugh.
You need to find someone too. I was so suprised when Kakashi asked me out for the first time and we started dating. It was the happiest moment in my life. Even now he is worried about me. Kakashi is just a very sweet boyfriend. Rin smiled at the thought of her sweet boyfriend.
Rin what if I tell you that Obito has still feelings for you ? What would you do ?
Obito ? He moved on. He doesn't love me anymore. He told me himself.
How can you know that ?! I raised my voice which caused Rin to look at me.
Sorry. I didn't mean to raise my voice.
Y/N do you perhaps....love Obito ?
I- what makes you say that ? I don't know what you are talking about. Let's return back shall we ? We already collected a lot of seashells.
Yes you're right but-
Huh who do we have here ? Me and Rin turned our attention towards some weird guys.
How about you two come with us ? It will be fun~
Don't bother us ! Rin yelled at them.
You are pretty cheeky girl won't you say ? Catch her.
Rin stay behind me ! And don't move ! I stood up in front of Rin.
But Y/N-
Rin ! Don't worry you have me here. I smiled at her and she returned the smile.
Awww such a nice friendship you have. Some of the perverts grabbed my wrists and I couldn't move my hands.
I managed to kick them to the stomach but more of them came up behind me to stop me from moving.
Y/N !!!! Rin yelled.
Rin run ! I said.
I will go for Kakashi and Obito ! Rin run away faster than I ever saw.
You are pretty persistent. I like girls like that.
I hate these kind of guys. He had blonde hair and gray eyes with some lame old swimsuit.
Those guys are poor I can tell.
Let me go or you will regret it.
And what are you gonna do ? You can't move. Me and my boys are gonna have some fun with you later.
He carressed my cheek and I clenched my teeth.
Shit.
Kakashi ! Obito !
Kakashi and Obito run up to Rin with worried look on their face.
Rin what happened ? Kakashi asked.
Y/N is....Y/N is in trouble ! We gotta save her ! There is so many of them. Please save Y/N. Rin begged with tears at the corner of her eyes.
Let's go. Obito said and Kakashi nodded.
I'm not going anywhere with some sick perverts like you ! I bite one of them and he released my hold.
I smirked at myself but as soon as I could react the blonde one punched me to the face.
I bit my lip and tried to come up with something.
That must be their leader or something.
You will receive one more if you don't stay still. The blonde one warned.
Is there really nothing I could do ?
Just when their leader wanted to punch me someone stopped his punch.
I looked up to see who it was and I couldn't believe my eyes.
Obito ?
Get away from her ! Obito punched every single one of them. Some of them were still standing trying to attack Obito but he dodged and kicked them to the stomach.
Hey Obito. Let me have some of them. Kakashi smirked cracking his knuckles.
You bastards ! They panted.
I watched as Obito and Kakashi beat them all without having a single scratch.
That brings back memories. Kakashi to Obito.
Tell me about it. Obito's eyes looked to mine and I froze when he was walking up to me.
Are you okay Y/N ? Did they hurt you ? Or touch you somewhere ? Obito asked with concern in his voice.
I'm okay Obito. Sorry for causing you and Kakashi trouble. Thank you for saving me. He grabbed my wrist and leaned closer to my face.
You saved Rin ! So what are you saying ?!
We are the one who should be grateful. And you are my friend ! So stop saying things like sorry for causing trouble. Obito hugged me and it felt like the whole world just stopped.
It was only me and Obito. I didn't know that he cared so much about me.
When Obito broke the hug Kakashi came up to me and said.
Thank you so much for saving Rin Y/N.
I don't know what would I do if something happened to her.
Don't worry about it Kakashi. Me and Rin are friends. It's only natural to save your friend.
Oh no Y/N you are hurt ! Let me see your face. Rin said.
But she just said- Obito started.
Y/N likes to lie ! Y/N how much did they hurt you ?
Just a little bit. They had very strong grips.
Will you be okay to walk on your own ? Rin asked.
I will be fine. I just need to rest and I will feel better.
Suddenly I was being picked up by a strong arms.
I will take her. Kakashi, Rin you can go ahead. Obito informed his friends.
I got it. Let's go Rin. Kakashi held Rin's hand and they left.
Obito soon started to move with me still in his arms.
Obito you can put me down. I don't need some special treatment.
I'm not letting you walk on your own. Just let me know if it hurts somewhere.
I didn't wanted to say anything. I was too embarrassed. This is enough for me.
Being held in Obito's arms.
There is no way I will forget what you did.
I will try to make it up to you sometimes Y/N.
You don't need to Obito. I just tried to protect my friend that's all.
The rest of the time both of us didn't said a word.
We finally returned to the hotel where Kakashi and Rin were waiting for us.
Rin comforted me and made sure that I have no pain.
So you don't feel pain no more ?
No it's better Rin. Thank you. I smiled weakly.
It should be better now. Thankfully you don't have any bruises but it can still hurt from the inside. Rin said.
No need to make such a big deal of it. I will be fine tomorrow.
Rin then left and it was soon nighttime.
I decided that it was good time to go to bed.
I'm so tired. I laid on the bed and soon fell asleep.
After few hours I opened my eyes and noticed that it was still night, more like midnight.
That reminds me I always wanted to look at the beach when it's night. I'm sure that will be a goid view. I opened up my balcony to see a beautiful moonlight.
What I didn't noticed that there was someone at the other balcony next to mine.
And it was no other than Obito. I quickly hide behind the big plant that was there.
I peeked through the plant to see Obito looking at the moon.
He sighed and rest his head in his palm.
Obito can't sleep ? I wonder what's wrong? Soon he interrupted my thoughts.
Y/N is really amazing. I am truly lucky to be her friend.
What is he saying ? I don't think this is still about the accident with me and Rin, but did me and Obito ever talked with each other longer than one hour ?
As long as I remember we always passed each other, maybe a short talk and that's all.
I wonder if she has a boyfriend already ? Or are we both that unlucky ? The wind was flowing through Obito's hair which made him even more attractive.
Oh Obito I guess we are both unlucky. I never had a boyfriend. You are the first boy that made me fall so in love.
It's pointless for me to confess to him when he still has feelings for Rin.
I silently left without him noticing I was even there.
I laid on my bed and stared at the ceiling for a while before I fell asleep thinking about Obito.
The next day as soon as I left my room I go outside and saw Kakashi ,Obito and Rin playing in the water.
Good morning for you Y/N. Rin chuckled.
Good morning sleepyhead. Kakashi said.
Who are you calling sleepyhead ? It's still morning. I scratched my head.
Sorry it's just that Obito woke up too not so long ago. What were you two up to last night ? Kakashi smirked at me and Obito which caused me to blush.
N-nothing. I was in my room !
Shut up Bakashi ! Obito said embarrassed.
I was not sure if Obito was blushing or not because of the hot weather.
Y/N now that you are here want me treat you for some drink ? Obito stood right in front of me.
Is that okay with you ? I asked avoiding his gaze.
Of course. I'm willing to pay for you. Now come. He grabbed my hand and dragged me with him.
I was staring at our hands not able to process how this happened.
Why did he invite me ? Wouldn't Rin be better choice ? Ugh I'm idiot. He might love Rin but he doesn't think about her 24/7. He thinks about his friends too.
I waited for him to buy our drinks letting him to choose.
I'm not really that picky.
When he returned he handed me a Rainbow Paradise cocktail.
Our hands brushed against each other and I quickly took it from his hands with a quiet thanks.
It looked like he had something similiar as me. Wait isn't it the same cocktail ?!
Well it doesn't matter. It was his choice.
I'm happy to be alone with him.
Does it taste good ? He asked me.
I nodded while I took a sip.
He gently smiled at me I looked up at him.
What ? I asked confused.
Nothing.
Just...
Can I talk with you about something ?
Go ahead. I said still drinking.
What were you doing on the balcony last night ?
I almost choked.
What ? You noticed me ?
Yes I mean it was quite obvious that you were here but what were you doing there ?
Oh I was just you know admiring the plants. I facepalmed at my response.
Can't believe I just said that but I need to cover it up somehow.
Oh...
Interesting.
You didn't heard anything I was saying right ?
Not at all. The wind was so strong last night so I couldn't hear anything.
But Y/N the wind was normal. There was no strong wind.
I stopped drinking and my eyes widened.
Oh no. He got me. I started to drink faster to avoid answering his question.
But that was mistake because my brain froze up. I forgot that it was so cold.
Hey Y/N you shouldn't drink that fast. He placed a hand on my shoulder and took a look on my face.
I need to go. I quickly drank it all up without no hesitation and dropped the glass and run away.
Y/N ! Obito yelled behind me but I was not listening.
I'm sorry Obito. But I'm coward and I can't explain it to you.
Not when you still love Rin.

What are some of your fave animes
OK LET ME PREFACE THIS BY SAYING I HAVEN’T BEEN INTO ANIME SINCE 2014 AND I AM JUST RECENTLY GETTING BACK INTO IT!! BUT
- DEATH NOTE (netflix, crunchyroll, funimation, kisscartoon)
it follows a guy named Light Yagami who discovers that a shinigamai(god of death) dropped a notebook into the human realm and that whoever’s name is written in it will die(and you can specify how, if you’d like). it shows how he becomes sort of a vigilante to put criminals in place. he is then under suspect as the killer by L, a smart and elite person who works with the police and has never lost a case.
seasons: 1 total episodes: 37
RATING: 10/10!!!
warning: violence/murder, major character death but like thats expected, religious themes(i guess), light swearing
fave characters: matsuda and L are high up there...as well as Mello, Mikami, and Gevanni ships: i mean the most common ship is Lawlight(LxLight) but i think my main are lawtsuda(L x matsuda), mikalight (mikami x light), mikanni (mikami x gevanni), and mellodramattic(mello x matt)/nearlymellodramattic(near x mello x matt)!!! remisa is also cute:( notes: i just spent all my money on the manga! i’m so excited to read it!!!
- SIRIUS THE JAEGER (netflix,  probably kisscartoon but i havent looked)
the main character, Yuliy Jirov, is the last of his tribe (he is a sirus. so like...sorta like a werewolf) and he is set to revenge his family’s death as a jaeger(hunter. but like. a vampire hunter) but it turns out his brother, Mikhail, is alive and was turned. the main goal of the plot is to find and also somehow protect this thing called Ark Of Sirius , which is sort of like sacred power that was given to Yuliy’s tribe, from falling into vampire hands.
seasons: 1 total episodes: 12
RATING: 10/10!!!
warning: violence, action, major(?) character death
fave characters: Yuliy...i love him so much; Mikhail, Hideomi, Willard ships: so uh i wouldn’t recommend going thru the ao3 tag because its a common thing to ship the brothers(*disgusted emoji*) but i am working on writing something to fill the tag with hideomi/mochizuki, hideomi/willard, and yuliy/phillip
notes: i think the way the creators did the vampires is really interesting. honestly i watched it bc of the pretty vampire man in the cover. i learned that i hate him but he’s still pretty. THIS SHOW IS REALLY SHORT PLEASE WATCH IT I AM BEGGING TO HAVE SOMEONE TO TALK ABOUT IT WITH
- CASTLEVANIA (netflix, ???)
Dracula sends creatures of the night(? literally don’t know another way to describe them. uh. monsters?) to attack the cities of Wallachia because they killed his, albeit human, wife (her name is Lisa)because they thought she practiced witchcraft. It follows Trevor Belmont, the last son of the Belmont family (a family that basically killed these creatures + vampires); Sypha Belnades, a badass speaker magician; and Adrian ‘Alucard’ Tepes, the son of dracula. their goal is to end the war against the human race. It also shows Dracula’s side of things and follows the two humans that are on his court, Hector and Isaac (they both denounced humanity because of their bad upbringings/experiences)
seasons: 3 total episodes: 22
RATING: 10/10!!!
warning: violence/gore, action, death/killing, sex, angst, religous themes, swearing
fave characters: really love the main three of course but like i also love Hector ships: trevor/sypha/alucard, hectorcard, alucard x happiness, hector x happiness
notes: it’s based off the video game. season three fucked me up(it’s AMAZING THOUGH!) i cannot wait for season 4 omg:((((
- NARUTO (netflix, cruncyroll, funimation, probs kisscartoon)
naruto uzumaki wants to gain recognition from his peers and also become the leader of his village(hokage)
seasons: 5 (i didn’t watch shippuden. i’m talking the OG naruto) total episodes: 220
RATING: 10/10 but like tbd bc ive only seen the first 3 seasons so far
warning: violence, action
fave characters: kakashi, iruka, gaara, rock lee ships: uhh kakairu(kakashi x iruka) i don’t really ship a lot of things. kobuto x orochimaru is kinda good too but like LKASDFASD
- B: THE BEGINNING (netflix, ???)
Genius investigator Keith Flick rejoins the royal police force, RIS, just as serial killer "B" emerges and commits a double murder. Mysterious youth Koku may be an ally of the group's -- or a target. When the RIS investigates a death that appears to be linked to B, Keith disagrees with the crime being connected to the criminal mastermind. An attack on a member of the RIS leads members of the group to suspect a traitor within their ranks. After being declared a murder suspect, Keith turns himself in. Koku is forced to fight for his survival
i copy and pasted that bc i cannot remember it that well but i do remember liking the show!! i will rewatch and update accordingly w my own summary
RATING: 8/10??? i can’t remember it that well which is why the rating is lower than the others
fave characters: oh dear i cannot remember a lot about this show but it’s good i promise. MINATSUKI was pretty tho ships: idk....
notes: yeah i need to rewatch it but its good i swear

- free! (i haven’t seen it in a while aa)
- one punch man (i watched it on a bus w this guy i used to like so it has a place in my heart aa)

Even more Akatsuki Babysitter's Club, heyoo
...
Obito didn’t mind taking care of Naruto while Kakashi was out on missions.
But. The missions.
Obito really didn’t like Kakashi in ANBU. He hated every time Kakashi put on that porcelain mask and jumped out the window. The irrational, terrified part of Obito thought it might be the last time he ever saw Kakashi again, the last time he could stare at every inch of his stupid masked face, the same paralyzing fear that gripped Obito in his darkest and most silent moments stuck in that cave.
So maybe he asked Nagato or Konan or somebody to watch Naruto for a bit while he followed Kakashi once. Or five times.
And he maybe took out a few enemies for Kakashi. Just a few.
Obito thought he was rather sneaky about it until Kakashi cornered him one evening. Obito was busy jangling a ring of dull painted shuriken above Naruto when he heard Kakashi snap his book closed.
“Obito.”
“Hm?”
“I’ve got an interesting story for you.”
“Yeah?”
“On my last few missions, I’ve had the strangest feeling someone was following me. This, coupled with a few mysterious enemy deaths that my team were not responsible for, I have to wonder: am I being paranoid or is something going on?”
“Huh, wow, that is weird,” Obito lied.
“Yes. So imagine my surprise with my latest mission when I not only met no resistance whatsoever, but that my target was already decapitated before I arrived, exactly as my mission brief ordered it.”
“Um.” Maybe if Obito jangled the shuriken harder he could pretend he couldn’t hear this.
“And that I also happened to catch a scent that new chocolate you’re fond of, currently local only to Konoha.”
Shit.
Kakashi grabbed Obito’s wrist, stilling the shuriken. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Visual stimulation is important for infant—”
“You know what I mean. Why are you interfering in my missions.” Kakashi actually looked angry.
“Interfering? What, no, I’m, uh—”
“Do you think I’m that weak?” Kakashi said lowly as his hand trembled. “Is… is this about Ri—”
“No!” No no no oh no Obito was not going there. Shit, this wasn’t what Obito meant at all. He thought about making a break for it to Kamui but blurted out, “I just don’t want you to.”
“Don’t want me to what?”
“Be in ANBU.” Not where that creep Danzō was nearby, the skulking prick. Not where Kakashi would get the worst sort of suicidal missions. Not when Obito could lose him.
“How would I support Naruto then? By becoming a farmer?”
Obito almost wanted to say yes, but that would be insulting to Kakashi’s skill, his talents and finesse as a fighter and hunter. Obito could watch Kakashi kill people all day.
Kakashi continued, “We’re shinobi. I’m a jounin. My missions will almost always be dangerous no matter where I work.”
“I just—” Obito looked away. “I wanted to be there. To be sure you come back.”
“Obito,” Kakashi said, his gaze softening, “I’ve got your eye, haven’t I?”
Obito looked up. “Yeah?”
Kakashi cupped his scarred cheek. “Then you’ll always be there with me.”
Oh.
Kakashi patted Obito’s shoulders. “Now stop following me on my missions. You’re making my reports a nightmare to write.” He turned to tickle the sides of a laughing Naruto before picking him up. “Is it time for dinner, pup? I think it is.”
Obito watched Kakashi saunter off. He felt all squirmy and weird, with the echo of Kakashi’s hand on his cheek. Actually, his whole face felt kinda hot and—
Oh. Oh no.
