I'm somewhat convinced that measuring water for cooking rice with fingers is a sort of ancient Asian communication code. 🍚

Anyone else?---
Anyone else been pavloved by the bell of a rice cooker to the point where you don't need a bell anymore? Or is it just me?
I'm using a new cooker pot that I got off amazon for cheap, and the dumb thing doesn't have a timer/stop function. It just turns on at a different heat level for each setting - and I find a don't need a timer. Turn it on, go back to the computer, and I get some, mental 'notification alert' in my brain that goes 'the rice is done'.
Then I started thinking about it, and even when I use the actual rice cooker, I haven't heard the bell go off in the longest time, because I'm always there to turn it off 1-2 minutes on the countdown.

Something I keep thinking about that irks me
The whole "rice is bad for you" thing is just remanufactured "MSG is bad for you" rhetoric and I think it needs to stop. Rice is a food staple for billions of people for thousands of years…like…shut the fuck up.
