I’m so sad tonight to find out one of my favorite artist/model of Gaga’s, Born This Way, has passed from taking his life.
I mourn for how his friends and family must feel, no matter what level of recognition.. mental illness can take the life from us. Practice love. Practice unconditional support. Practice healthy minds so we can learn to combat mental illness. Rest in love, rest in power, Rick Genest ❤️
I’m so sorry you were suffering silently for so long... I’m so sorry you didn’t get the help you needed..I hope this is a wake up call for a lot of people. You inspired so many.. ....Mental health is a topic that definitely needs to be talked about MORE and it’s one that still comes along with a stigma.
But would you be embarrassed to ask for help if you're diabetic? What about if you have asthma? No? Then why be ashamed to ask for help for depression?
Depression isn’t always reactional, sometimes it’s genetic, and sometimes we NEED help.
There’s no need to be silently suffering..I know from personal experience that sometimes smiling depression can be the hardest to admit, in fear of letting those around us down.. it’s also one of the most dangerous, because it’s hard to detect...but ending your life WILL let everyone down, including yourself. THINGS CAN CHANGE. You can change, but sometimes it takes help, and that’s okay.
*Asking for help isn’t admitting defeat, and hiding isn’t brave.* Admitting there is a problem and seeking help is the ultimate test of strength. THERE IS NO REASON TO SUFFER NEEDLESSLY. There is no reason to keep yourself hidden in secrecy. *Through vulnerability comes rebirth.*
