Writing Prompt #118

"I am... Tired."

The sentence made Henchman pause from unraveling the blueprints on their boss’s desk.

"Tired, Boss?" they ask, looking up at the seated criminal before them. "Would you like me to come back another time?"

"No. Pushing things off until later won't fix anything," Villain murmurs, resting their head on the back of their hand. “It’s not that kind of tired.”

The henchman’s brows furrow slightly. “...I don’t think I understand.”

The villain lets out a small sigh. “..No, I suppose you wouldn’t.”

There’s a moment of silence that fills the room.

“...I believe I am experiencing burnout, Henchman. …Or maybe I’ve just forgotten what exactly it is I am fighting for. ..I don’t see the point in continuing this cat and mouse chase with Hero anymore.”

Sriracha

Villain: Gather 'round, my nefarious associates! Today, we shall unleash a prank of unparalleled villainy upon those insufferable heroes. The very foundation of their breakfasts shall crumble!

Right Hand: My Lord, are you referring to the diabolical plot involving the jam and the... err, spicy sauce?

Villain: Indeed, Right Hand! I have devised a scheme so devilish that even the most stoic hero will shed a tear over their ruined toast. Behold, we shall replace all their innocent jam bottles with jars of fiery sriracha sauce!

Henchman #1: (snickering) Sriracha sauce, boss? Won't they notice the difference right away?

Villain: That's where you're wrong, my unwitting underling! The labels, yes, the labels shall be our masterpiece. Mittens!

Mittens: (with a tiny villainous cape) Oh, joy. I always wanted to be a cat forger.

Villain: Mittens, you shall forge labels so exquisite, so perfect, that the heroes won't suspect a thing! I want the labels to scream "premium, extra-fancy jam" while concealing the fiery truth within.

Right Hand: (suppressing laughter) My Lord, isn't Mittens more skilled in knocking things off tables than label forgery?

Villain: Nonsense! I have seen Mittens weave her devious paws through the most intricate tasks. She once unraveled the hero's secret meeting plans by batting a ball of yarn across their secret files!

Mittens: (proudly) Meow.

Henchman #2: (snickering) But boss, what if they taste the sauce and realize it's not jam?

Villain: Ah, my dear simpleton, that's where our pièce de résistance comes in. Scientist!

Scientist: (entering with a clipboard) You called, my villainous overlord?

Villain: Scientist, you shall concoct a special potion that numbs the taste buds temporarily! Just enough for the heroes to savor the sweet anticipation before the fiery revelation.

Scientist: (scribbling notes) Numbing potion, understood. How long should the effect last?

Villain: Long enough for them to question their very existence, but short enough for them to recover before they suspect foul play.

Right Hand: (trying not to laugh) Brilliant, my Lord. A scheme so devious, even the heroes won't see it coming.

Henchman #1: (chuckles) And they'll be wondering if their taste buds have turned traitor!

Villain: Precisely! Now, to action, my minions! Mittens, forge those labels. Scientist, brew that potion. Henchmen, prepare for a raid on the hero's breakfast nooks!

After lunch we did ten 30second drawings on our non dominant hand. I found these to be challenging but also useful as I found myself breaking out of bad habits I draw with by using my dominant hand. We then drew two 10 minute drawings using our non dominant hand as shown above . I found these to be more difficult than the 30 second drawings as you had more time to be in detail and had to rely on your non dominant hand more.

Finally, for fun, we did blind line drawings using our non dominant hand and our dominant hand. I enjoyed these as the finished drawing was always more worse than I had imagined in my head.

Me llevo el corazón pero solo el que se encarga de lo irrelevante, de mover la sangre y esas cosas. Mi corazón se queda... se queda en mi cuarto, en mi escritorio, en mi silla, en la mesa del café de los domingos y en el sillón de la siesta. Se queda en esas cosas por qué ahí es donde lo puse en otras personas, en mi mamá, mi novia, mi familia, mis amigos, en mi mismo. Dejo el corazón esparcido por todos lados, por todas gentes. Ahora me voy sin corazón a buscar uno nuevo, a buscar otros cafés, otros sofás y otras gentes. Que difícil es vivir con el corazón esparcido por todos lados, ya luego extrañaré el corazón que hoy voy a buscar.

Me voy sin corazón pero con esperanza y la certeza que ese corazón no se desvanece, no se enfría, seguirá ahí por qué he dejado el corazón en las personas correctas, en las mejores personas.

Use Both Hands While You Can

All non-dominate hand still, I tried my right but no strength yet, but it moves. 🙂 Mostly colored pencils but did try a cool gel stick and one copic marker. I don’t have enough control over them using my left hand. You know only two half years using my left compared to my right for 49 years. Pointer, use both hands because you never know when you lose your dominate hand. Love this book, quotes…

An Unusually Large Predicament

Villain: (Observing the chaos outside) My brilliant mosquitoes have the heroes in a frenzy! But where is our dear Mittens?

Right Hand: (Glancing around) I haven't seen Mittens for a while. Maybe he's found a cozy spot for a catnap.

Scientist: (Nervously) Actually, there's something I need to confess, boss.

Villain: (Raises an eyebrow) What's the matter, Scientist?

Scientist: Well, remember that growth serum I made for the mosquitoes? I, uh, accidentally left it out, and Mittens mistook it for water. Now... Mittens is, well, massive.

Villain: (Stares in disbelief) You turned Mittens into a giant?

Scientist: (Nods) Yes, boss. He's currently the size of a 19-story building.

Right Hand: (Laughs) Oh, this is going to be interesting.

Villain: (Rubbing his temples) Scientist, what were you thinking?

Scientist: It was an accident, I swear! But Mittens seemed so thirsty, and I didn't label the serum properly!

[Villain and Right Hand exchange amused glances.]

Villain: (Chuckling) Well, I suppose we'll have to make the most of this situation. Giant Mittens, you say?

Scientist: (Relieved) You're not mad, boss?

Villain: Oh, I'm furious, Scientist, but let's see how this plays out. What's Mittens doing now?

[Outside, Mittens, the giant cat, casually strolls toward the heroes' headquarters.]

Mittens: (Speaking to himself) I always wanted to make an entrance, but this is ridiculous.

Hencheman 1: (Spotting Mittens) Boss, look! Mittens is heading for the heroes' headquarters!

Hencheman 2: (Excited) This is gonna be epic!

Villain: (Grinning) Well, it seems Mittens has a plan of his own. Let's see how the heroes handle our colossal cat.

Right Hand: I have a feeling they're in for a surprise.

[Villain, Right Hand, Scientist, and the henchmen watch as Mittens, now towering over the heroes' headquarters, playfully bats at it.]

Mittens: (Purring) Time to knock some sense into those heroes!

Hero 1: (Panicking) It's a giant cat! We're doomed!

Hero 2: (Frantic) Quick, somebody find a litter box!

Hero 3: (Trying to reason) Wait, Mittens, we can talk about this, right?

Mittens: (Smirking while knocking over the heroes' headquarters) : Well, I could use some giant cat treats, but that headquarters needs a little redecorating first!

[Villain and his crew burst into laughter.]

Villain: (Clapping) Bravo, Mittens! This is the most feline-friendly assault I've ever seen!

I've been getting staph infections in this finger for 2y because I didn't wash something I bought at a thrift store before wearing it that exact same amount od time ago. What's unfortunate is that you cannot see the red and purple discoloring, and can barely see the swelling, but I assure you it is quite painful and inconvenient. Now I have to weigh making an urgent care appt vs. just leaving it alone and hope it gets better. I've been to the Dr before. They always say to leave it alone and it will go away. #DailyDevotions The Promises Of The LORD Encourage & Preserve Us Psalm 16 6The land allotted to me is in pleasant places; yes, my inheritance is something beautiful. This alone should give us peace in this life. David is prophesying. He is not just speaking for himself but for his seed, Jesus Christ and all who are united with him. What land, what inheritance can we have that gives us peace in this world? Jesus tells us in Matthew, the meek shall inherit the earth. Paul reminds us we are heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ. God Himself is our inheritance. Our lack of things in this present age should not alarm us. The things of this age are passing like the leaves on the tree during the course of the year. They look good for a little bit and then turn brown, fall off and decay. What Jesus has promised us last forever. ?I praise the LORD Who gives me counsel; also, at night my deepest feelings show me what is right. 8I always keep the LORD before Me. With Him at My right hand, I can't fail. As we dwell on the word of the LORD it will give us counsel if we subject our thoughts and plans to its light. As such we should praise the LORD who counsels us from His word. “My deepest feelings,” is from the Hebrew word for kidneys. It is where the seat of our emotions are. We think today of butterflies in our stomach. Our deepest feelings can only show us what is right if they are instructed by God's word. Now David is speaking for Jesus Christ here as the end of the psalm will show. His kidneys are probably trustworthy. Perhaps it is also the seat of our conscience. I haven't confirmed that though. If we haven't seared it yet or we are born of God, it can lead us to some extent into what is right and what is wrong. More importantly, David says, he keeps the LORD before himself. With the LORD at his right hand he cannot fail. Certainly we see Jesus doing this as he spends much time in prayer. He trusted his Father and our Father to be with him in his mission. We too should keep the LORD before us by being in His word and praying like Jesus from His word. We, in times of doubt, need to remember the promises of Jesus which tell us of perseverance. He promises to sustain us with the Holy Spirit through all our days to keep us from falling. We should, on our part, make use of the gifts he has given us to preserve us. 9That is why My heart is glad, and My soul is delighted. Also My body will rest securely 10because You will not leave Me in the grave nor let Your Holy One experience decay. 11You show Me the path of life —plenty of joy in Your presence, delightful things at Your right hand forever. So here David sees his descendant, the promised seed, who will live and reign forever on his throne. He can be glad in heart and have his soul delighted in this. Jesus who is the seed and descendant of David is not left in the grave. He is the Holy One who does not experience decay. He is risen from the dead on the third day never to die again. Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father where he reigns forever. This is good news because Jesus promises us that what has been given to him is also given to those who put their trust in him. While David and we may experience decay, as we are united with Christ Jesus, we shall be raised from the dead on the Last Day. As Jesus sits on his Father's throne, Jesus promises us that we will sit with him on his throne. He is our path of life. He is our joy. From his right hand we receive pleasure forever more. Heavenly Father, grant us to take joy in our inheritance. May it preserve our faith in Christ Jesus until he bestows it to us in the world to come. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
