"So, where is this plane taking us?"

Geto shrugged, a smile on his face as Gojo plopped down in the seat next to him.

You looked around. You spotted Haibara and Nanami. Heck, even THE Toji Fushiguro could be seen at the far end of the airport.

Riko, Kuroi, and Principal Yaga were here too.

"Is Shoko coming," you asked as you sat next to Gojo. But before your butt could touch the seat he pulled you to where you were sitting in between him and Geto.

"Nah, she probably won't be joining us for awhile."

You hummed a bit, your gaze facing forward.

"I hope we can all go to the beach together soon."

Gojo leaned his head back, eyes staring up at the too far away ceiling, "that would be nice."

Which is how you found yourself waiting for your other classmate. Gojo, Geto, you, and the others diving into different conversations here and there.

And for a second, you felt bad.

Out of all your friends (and enemies *side eyes Toji*), you were the first to die. To you, everyone should still be alive and be living for as long as they can with smiles on their faces.

But oh well, it did feel nice to finally not be alone in such a big airport waiting for a plane that may never come.

I think it's wild the fandom at large depicts Riko's abuse of Kevin as never being of a physical nature before the hand-breaking despite textual evidence to the contrary from RIKO HIMSELF. It's like people can't understand why Kevin could still love Riko after that, so it must have never been "real hurt"

(also, even if it was only ever emotional, Kevin still would be a victim. Please stop comparing Kevin and Jean's traumas 2k24)

ive been waiting for myself to be in a sons of exy mood to talk about this and today is the day!

two things: one, i think people have an easier time making peace with kevin's character if they believe he was not as severely abused as he was. i think it's conflicting to fandom's characterization of him at large to acknowledge that kevin was famous and revered in his field at the same time that he was being kept captive and routinely violated by both his caretakers and his similars. both things can (and often are, with celebrities) be true! it is very intentional, in my opinion, that the only real power kevin has ever known was in court, peforming the duty of his family name

the second thing is that kevin and riko are just as similarly complex and dual-sided as kevin's character is. it is hard to conflate the words brother and abuser together because they are supposed to be antonyms. kevin himself never properly explains the extent of riko's abuse, and he never tells the stories of before riko's cruelty reached this point either. what ALWAYS gets me is that riko's story didn't die with him — kevin is quite literally the sole keeper of his brother's memory, because he is the only one who has witnessed him both boy and man. so really, if kevin does not want to sully riko's image further, i don't blame him

and lastly because i think this still bears repeating: kevin and jean were more similar than they were ever different. the only reason kevin was ever spared the brunt of riko's cruelty was because he was riko's partner in the duo system, and he was worth nothing to riko if he couldn't keep up. kevin was abused in the same ways jean was, emotionally and psychologically and physically and sexually and culturally. what happened to him was kept behind the door of their dorm room, yes, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. jean is a character in a story who is only allowed to know what he knows — the fact that he isn't aware of the entire extent of kevin's abuse is normal. it is however very telling that the piss on the poor fandom struggled to understand that a character's view of another character is not the objective truth of what happened to them
