Not in a bad way, but moreso that he didn't expect you to be that bold. Holding hands is one thing, but straight up hugging him in public was another

It isn't like he doesn't want to be close to you, of course he does, its other people seeing that raises his concern

Though, with a few scans around the area (with shades on, making him look even more suspicious unintentionally Gaku deems when its okay to continue exchanging loving gestures

If it were someone other celebrity, they might've set a boundary not to interact in that kind of way at all, lest a paparazzi gets their paycheck of the month from a clear picture taken of the act

But this was Gaku, and spending quality time with you meant far more to him than that

At home or even around his group members, showing affection is a different story completely

He more than welcomes your touch, always leaning into it if its a hug or squeezing your hand back when your fingers start to lightly graze against his

Even if you're like this absentmindedly, the idol usually assumes its intentional

Eventually, whenever you two are around each other he wants to be close or touching in some way when you're relaxing

Tenn even claims he gets 'grumpy' when you haven't been cuddly with him in a while

Yamato is more easily flustered than Gaku (by a long shot actually

He also enjoys your touch, but instead of being startled of your boldness because of being in public, its because of his own embarrassment

Now holding hands is fine, but hugging him or sitting on his lap in front of others is a whole other level

Which sucks for him since he very much enjoys both of those things from you but the thought of the others looking or god forbid teasing makes him wanna move countries

The last thing he wants to do is reprimand you for it though or set a boundary for your absentminded affection, what's he supposed to say? "Hey, can you not show that you like me in front of my friends or anyone else for that matter"?

Yamato's more lax about it around say, Sogo, Iori, or Riku. They're not the type to eyeball you and he too much, but the other three tend to be loudmouths

He loves you too much to say no to you though, so he'll just have to suffer from whatever they might say

He's a lot more comfortable with it in his own room (or when he's drunk)

When he's drunk with liquor running through his veins he could care less who sees you, even pulling you into his lap himself

Anyone else around him at that point doesn't need any more proof he's totally intoxicated because of that sight alone

plus with him being a lot more flirty like that he's bound to be open to more touching

— “We should go indeed, my love.” He tells you, head resting against yours.

— Honestly, you’re made for each other!

— Riku is pretty excitable himself, his every emotion clear as day in the little changes of his expression.

— So when it is you who is enthusiastic about something, it’s like a full circle feedback of exhilaration between you two.

— Honestly, Riku is your biggest hypeman, whatever it is you want to ramble about, he’s more than happy to listen; he just thinks you’re so cool.

— Due to his condition, IDOLiSH7’s center grew up pretty sheltered, resulting in him still being naive in regards to a variety of aspects.

— So, you telling him about the things you love makes him feel like a window to your inner colorful world opens right before his eyes.

— “Really? They’re releasing the next book already?” He inspects the magazine you show him. “Aah! They are indeed! This is such a nice surprise!”

— “Right? Right?” You prompt, holding both of his hands in yours, as you swing them. “We could have a date on that day. I’ll take you to a cafe with tasty donuts and then we can have omurice for lunch too…”

— You suddenly trail off, averting your gaze as your face feels suddenly a little too hot.

— “Ah… I… I’m talking too much…” You lower your head, burying it in your boyfriend’s chest. “I’m getting carried away… Sorry, Riku…”

— He smiles, his arms instantly tightening their hold around your form.

— Carmine eyes flutter closed, as his hands gently brush through your hair.

— “You never talk too much.” He tells you, searching for your gaze, brows slightly furrowed, offering you a reassuring smile. “And…” He scratches the back of his neck. “You already know that I like it when you share news with me, [Y/n]. It makes me happy.”

— A shy smile curls your lips as you fleetingly brush them against Riku’s.

“Thank you, baby.” You whisper, combing vibrant crimson strands away from his adorable face. “You make me the happiest, Rikkun.”

— His nose brushes yours lovingly.

The cricket's question made Riku think of Sora. Of course, Riku couldn't tell him everything, but Sora was still a friend with a special place in his heart.

"Yeah... actually I do." Riku closed his eyes and imagined Soras's face for a moment, then looked at Pinocchio and Jiminy. "That stupid grin he's always wearing— he's the best teacher I could ever have."

DDD novel — Riku's side.

I loved this scene during the game and it was clear in DDD he's so gay and he loves Sora so much. A big part of DDD in my perspective was being able to accept yourself/forgive yourself of the darkness of the past and maybe someday open himself up to Sora about his feelings.

And here it shows Sora has a special place in his heart... He definitely likes him. I love how he imagines Sora in the scene, I mean I thought he was thinking of Sora BUT TO EXPLICITLY SAY he imagined Sora's face is another thing.

"He saved me. But you two are nothing alike." Shiki leaned in close to Sora's ear and whispered, "You know, Neku and Riku are really similar."

"Huh?". Surprised, Sora looked at Neku.

Now that you mentioned it, I can see it. They're both a little prickly sometimes, but they have a heart of gold underneath.

"Wh-why are you staring at me..?" Neku returned Sora's gaze uneasily.

"Yeah, you may be onto something."

DDD NOVEL — Sora's Side

This is a nice section that shows a comparison between the characters. Shiki notes how Sora and Riku are nothing alike, but Neku is quite similar to Riku. It's not that Soriku filled, but it's nice to see the comparison with Neku who ends up in his actual game accidentally trading Shiki (who's very important to him/ with no memories at that) to continue to survive another round to be able to return to life.

Also I'd imagined Riku getting flustered if someone stares at him because of one of the kh2 novel states that Riku always won sword fights, but Sora won starring contests. HE PROBABLY GETS FLUSTERED.

"I won't hold back, and I won't underestimate you. I give everything I have to set you free. I was always jealous of you, Sora. I used to feel it all the time, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't still. I believe that feeling was darkness, but now I know it's not.

The truth is, it gave me strength, and so did having someone to challenge me. Light and Darkness are perfect compliments of each other — the shadows are always greatest next to the dark. I know what that means now, truly. When those dark feelings come over you, only your heart can decide whether to let them sink deeper into the darkness or to bring them out into the light of the sun.

Accepting both is what it means to have a heart. It gives us strength. Even a form of pride, in a way. I don't think anyone can honestly say it's not. Same with wanting to be stronger. Joy and Sorrow, Anger and Hatred— whether those feelings become your light or your darkness is for you to decide.

The strength of your darkness is what allows you to choose. That's why I choose to let the light shine onto my own darkness. And Sora that's you."

I made a post on just this entire statement Riku made before but I had to include it, it's so gay. He's comparing dark and light to him and Sora. He says Sora is his light. He accepts both light and Darkness and because of that it's strength and some sort of pride... Maybe gay pride 🧐🧐🧐

But he realizes his jealousy made him stronger and just shows his development of how he is with darkness and how he is with Sora.

• Little spoon, indeed! It's good for Riku's (frequent) anxiety attacks to squeeze him a little. When he's in your arms and being held like some kind of plush toy, it's a lot easier to stop thinking about all of the scary things in the world. He's terribly flustered that you're touching him so much, but that's really more of a bonus than a problem. If you ever ask if you should give him space, Riku is quick to cling to you even more tightly.

• He's the perfect size for cuddling! ...as are many of his immediate peers. Keikou isn't exactly outstanding when it comes to a proper diet, and growing up an underfed, over-stressed teenager getting far too little sunlight and far too few frequent meals means that Riku and the majority of his friend group are small. He's endlessly embarrassed by this, but when he ends up situated in your lap for cuddles and your warm breath on the side of his neck, Riku cares much less about how tiny he is.

• Once he's more comfortable with you, Riku wants attention frequently. He's prone to resting his head against your back or sitting down just close enough to hint that he wants to be held. Even if he's still too nervous to ask for it, being in your arms makes him feel safe— and you'll be well aware of that. There's no mistaking how he goes utterly limp, with a sigh of relief, when you've settled in behind him, arms looped around his waist.

Hello, can I request some riku and ventus headcanon's on how they behave having a crush on someone?

Sorry for the wait, friend, the writer's block is immense and I, uh, have COVID so not exactly in the best shape haha Nevertheless, I've gotten to it eventually.

Riku and Ventus with a Crush HCs

Riku

In my humble opinon, Riku is a man that's quite married to his work. He's a Keyblade Master, after all, and that's a title that comes with responsibilities that Riku takes very seriously.

So it actually takes Riku quite a while to seperate his feelings for his crush from a distraction to romantic feelings. It's not something he really appreciates or understands at first - he has so many things to do, so many things to take seriously...he can't be distracted by his own personal messes.

Riku pretty much pushes his feelings for his crush down and away, trying to ignore them the best he can so he can more easily prioritise his responsibilities as a Keyblade Master. But...he still finds himself staring - which is unfortunately Riku's very obvious tell.

I reckon everyone notices pretty quickly that Riku's got his eye on someone, but most people are too nervous to call him out on it. They're not afraid of him or anything, but they know that it will take a lot of convincing to make him actually do anything about it.

It has to be someone Riku's known and respected for quite a while to help him embrace the fact that he has a crush: Sora, Kairi, or the King, even.

From then on, after he’s been called out for his (actually pretty obvious) behaviours, Riku becomes a heck of a lot more awkward than he was before.

Now he thinks it’s obvious to everyone, including his crush. So then the stammering and flustering begins, constant hand movement and fiddling with his hair and clothes to try and distract himself, getting himself lost in Keyblade training and activities like it...poor Riku, he doesn’t know how to handle all these emotions.

He’d never dream of confronting his crush directly out of fear of ruining the platonic relationship they already have - Riku treasures having any friends at all after his unfortunate history of jealousy and being entrenched in darkness. So someone else is going to have to give his crush the go-ahead before Riku does anything...

Ventus

Oh, Ven, he really doesn’t know what’s going on in his head when he develops a crush on someone. It’s difficult for him to interpret the difference between platonic love and romantic love because he’s...never really been around people in love before. His first exposure to love was during a pretty tough time for him with the Disney Worlds and he’s never really been able to grasp the difference since then.

So Ventus treats his crush like he would any one of his close friends with the constant affection - verbal and/or physical - and time spent by their side. He really doesn’t act much differently besides perhaps his overemphasis on complimenting his crush. 

Sure, Ven compliments a lot of people because it’s in his kind and caring nature, but, with his crush, it’s all the time and with the smallest things. This doesn’t get to a point where it’s overwhelming, but this is how other people start to notice that Ven likes this person a little more than he does others.

And of course Aqua is the first to take notice. She’s the one who is able to teach Ven about the difference between platonic and romantic love, even without her having much experience herself. 

From then on, Ventus doesn’t become any less or more obvious, honestly. He’s just...very excited to be experiencing what so many other people find so much joy in.

Summary: Sora doesn’t remember the pretty girl in front of him, but something about her moves his heart all the same. 

Sora stared at the girl in front of him. Man, she was pretty. Really, really pretty. Long red hair, these big blue eyes, soft pink lips, cute outfit, nice figure— 

But she wasn’t happy. Her eyes were watering like she was about to cry, and her lower lip trembled. Something was making her sad. Was it him? Was he the one making her sad? He couldn’t bear the thought. His heart felt like chains had just wrapped their way around it and squeezed. 

“I’m sorry, did I say something wrong?” Whatever it was he’d done, he wanted to make things right. 

“Sora, this is Kairi,” Riku said as he walked up to them, and his eyes were pained. Riku wasn’t really open with his emotions, so if he was upset too, then man, Sora must’ve really messed up. 

“Kairi?” Sora repeated as he turned back to the girl, trying the name out. It slipped off his tongue easily, but other than that, nothing came to mind.

Riku rested a hand on Kairi’s shoulder. “Sorry, Kairi, I wanted to warn you.”

“Warn you?” Sora echoed. “About what?” 

Kairi turned away from him and sniffed, and those chains around his heart pulled tighter.

“Do I know you?” he said softly, reaching for her but pulling back at the last moment. “Are you someone important to me?” 

He looked helplessly to Riku. “Riku? Who is she?” 

Riku hesitated for a moment, then said, “She’s—” 

“—an old acquaintance you haven’t seen in a while.” She turned around, a smile plastered on her face that didn’t really reach her eyes. “You… saved my world from the Heartless on one of your journeys. Please excuse my impertinence earlier, I just got excited about seeing you again, that’s all.” She tucked her hands in front of herself like she was about to bow, then switched to a curtsy. “Thank you again for all your help.” 

Riku looked stricken, but he said nothing, and Sora’s heart leapt into his throat. Something was very, very wrong. 

“How did you end up here?” Sora asked. “Did something terrible happen to you?” 

“Oh! Um… You know…” She glanced at Riku. “It just happens, you know? Sometimes you just… die.” 

She grimaced, and he worried he’d asked for too many details. For all he knew her death was really traumatic. Strelitzia’s had been, after all. He still shuddered to think about it, and the thought of this girl suffering a similar fate made a lump form in his throat.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” he said lamely, then wanted to kick himself. What was it about Kairi that made him so flustered? It was like he couldn’t form a coherent thought around her.

“No, it’s alright, it’s… in the past.” She fiddled with her necklace, then looked up into his eyes. “I’m sorry you died, too.” 

Her voice choked on the final words, and he felt his heart squeeze. His death… he couldn’t remember it clearly. All he could recall was warmth, warmth and his heart so full of love he couldn’t contain it. But he also felt like he’d been torn in two. A single tear flashed through his mind, then a flood of grief beyond compare washed over him. He couldn’t remember why his heart had felt so wonderful before being torn in two. There was another feeling he couldn’t exactly place, he just knew it was because this kind girl was feeling sorry for him, was apologizing for something far beyond her control, was crying for him even though he didn’t even know her.

Without thinking, he wiped a tear from her face. She froze and stopped crying, and he wondered what had gotten into him, touching her like that when he didn’t even know her. 

Or did he?

“You’re someone very important to me, aren’t you?” he said softly. His own voice surprised him, tender and gentle like he was addressing someone very special. “I may not remember you, but I want to.” 

For a split second, a tangy taste lingered on his tongue, but then it was over. 

“Thank you,” she said, then pulled away and wiped her eyes. “But please, don’t push yourself. Maybe it’s better if you—” 

He frowned. “Better if I what?” 

She plastered on that fake smile again. “Better if you keep moving forward. You want to get home to your islands, right?” 

Sora looked to Riku for guidance, but Riku had an unreadable expression on his face. His lips were pulled into a taut line and his eyes were stony. Was he angry? Oh no, what had Sora done wrong this time? 

“Sorry, Sora, will you excuse us?” Riku said. “I need to talk to Kairi about some stuff. Meet you back at your apartment in an hour.” 

“Oh, sure thing,” Sora replied, relieved that he didn’t seem to be the target of Riku’s wrath. “I need to pick up dinner from Family Mart or Seven Eleven anyway.” 

Riku rubbed his forehead and groaned. “Sora, you have got to eat other stuff, and I’m getting sick of the onigiri and ice cream you always buy. You can’t live on a diet of convenience store food alone.” 

He put his hands behind his head and grinned. “Watch me. Besides, there are healthy options!”

“Uh-huh. See you back at your place. And can you at least get us some curry or something? A rice pilaf? Okonomiyaki? Seriously, anything but more onigiri.” 

“Sure.” Sora hesitated for a moment. “Um, Kairi? Want anything?” 

She fiddled with her necklace. “I’ll just have whatever you guys are having. Some ice cream would be nice too, though maybe we should get fruit instead.”

“Only the best for you, princess.” As soon as the words left his mouth, he felt his face turning red. Where had that come from? It sounded like some corny pickup line from a movie, and yet it had come so easily to him. Maybe Kairi was a princess on her home world? 

Her lips parted, and she flushed and ducked her head. “Um, I’ll pay you back later. When I have…” She turned to Riku, and Sora felt a pang in his chest. “What’s the munny called here again?”

“Money. Sounds the same but different spelling.” 

“Right, money.” She fidgeted with her necklace again. “I’ll see you later, Sora.” 

With that, she and Riku were walking away, and the pang hit him again and grew into a throb. 

“Kairi? What am I to you?” he said softly. She glanced back at him, their eyes meeting for a split second. 

“My whole world,” he wanted her to say, but she was silent. She just looked at him sadly and then continued on with Riku. He was left standing there, alone in the alley. 

Why did watching her walk away hurt so much? Why did seeing her turn to Riku instead of him for help hurt so much? It shouldn’t. He didn’t know her, and it was obvious Riku did. And yet he felt drawn to her. Wanted to get to know her better. Wanted to see her smile. Not the smiles she’d plastered on to try to make him feel better. No, a real, genuine smile from her heart. 

What would it take to see her smile?

A/N: Thank you for reading! 

As I was writing this chapter, I got to wondering how Sora would feel about his own death? And it really made me think because it's not every day you get to write about a character reflecting on that. And then of course I got to have Kairi get to properly grieve his death a little with him present, and the irony of him not knowing she's grieving out of love for him and guilt over his death (because she absolutely would blame herself) made for some interesting material to work with. I debated whether he should comfort her so forwardly, but in the end it felt like such a Sora thing to do that I rolled with it. 

Also shoutout to okonomiyaki, my favorite Japanese food. If you haven't tried it before, 10/10 would recommend.

The admission comes with ease, something that startles him greatly, but feels natural in how quickly it’s spoken. His voice remains steady, firm in its tone as he continues tracing little patterns along the other boys palm held in one of his hands. Idle patterns, random shapes here & there, he doesn’t dare to raise his sights, slowing his motions to instead curl his hand a bit more around Vanitas’ hand. The brush of his thumb along the key-bearer’s is gentle, maybe even soothing in case his words prompt some form of tension. But before the other can try to brush it off or deny it, Riku huffs out a laugh before he continues, determined to elaborate further.

Hopefully it’d put any remaining fears to rest.

“—  &  not just because of what you can do for me or give to me. I like you. I value you as a person.”

With that, he lifts the hand up to press a light kiss along his knuckles, a slight grin quirking at his lips as he finally peers back, eyes curiously flitting across Vanitas’ face.  』

This moment felt special somehow, even before Riku had begun speaking. The twilight appealed to many of their number, but being here in Destiny Islands, sat on the odd curve of the Paopu trees and watching the colours paint the sky and shimmer over the water… It felt like something just for them, special somehow in a way that sitting upon the clocktower in Twilight Town simply wasn't.

Their hands had touched then, while he was still admiring the view, and it pulled his eyes away from the mesmerising sight and towards the teal pools currently fixated on him instead. He still had trouble believing sometimes that they'd gotten to this point… A point where Vanitas had learned to trust Riku, and Riku had found loyalty and understanding in him and somehow it all worked out. They were at a point where romantic dates on Destiny Islands were a thing now, and neither would even consider making fun of it, it was far too precious and special for that.

Never mind that such peace and such a wonderful view was new to him and a gift in and of itself even without Riku's presence there to soothe him further. Indeed he shifted a little closer as the other spoke, even as he pushed away the swelling feeling in his chest he'd begun to more readily associate with emotion at the same time as it indicated an Unversed wanting to burst free and skitter around.

"Yeah?" He murmurs softly, eyes flicking between the other's face and the hand held in his, with which he got to enjoy Riku's grip and the careful, gentle motions of his fingers over Vanitas' skin. He already wore more casual clothes ever since joining up with the keybladers' squad, but Riku was one of the few Vanitas didn't wear gloves around any longer.

He was getting sappy… He's well aware of it, and that if his past self saw him now he would scathingly be declared weak and pathetic by his very own alter image, but… Well, he's learned and grown since then, and so would his past learn just what a treasure Riku was once he got to that point, and he would realise exactly how worth it this was.

That doesn't keep him from blushing as the other elaborates however, a dusting of colour that seems all the more amplified by the reds and oranges lighting up the darkening sky.

"You're such a sap…" He snipes instead, tone soft and visibly flustered still, thus lacking any bite in the words. It isn't that he means them, but rather that he's using snark to mask just how speechless he's gotten. He has no idea what to say or how to show that he reciprocates…

After a brief moment he squeezes Riku's hand gently as it's lowered back to the bark of the tree before he shifts over, careful not to disrupt either of their balances on the rather narrow trunk, and kisses Riku soundly. There, that should do the trick, right?

"Good thing you're my sap, though."

-Riku is terrible with anything romance so you will be having to make the first move. He wouldn't prefer to be confessed to in an overly dramatic and romantic way.

-He feels that it shouldn't be too extra and should be straight to the point but, he wouldn't want it to happen around people he knew or even strangers for that matter.

-I think he would like a note in his locker to meet him somewhere after school or during a break time.

-Actually gets flustered when you confess to him, although he tries to deny it. His face will get visibly pink and he'll start to shift around a lot.

-He will, in the end, accept your confession and promise to take you out on a date. If you do anything remotely romantic during it though, he will try to pull away, but not because he doesn't want it, he's just scared of someone seeing.

-" (name)! What are you doing?! Don't do that. "

-As for a first date, he would take you somewhere simple. Possibly the cinema or even a study date!

-For a movie date, he'd let you pick the movie and he'd try to sort out the rest for the two of you to go. (Although he probably gave you a select set of movies to pick from)

-He was probably told to be a gentleman by his parents which caused him to buy your popcorn/drink for you. He's just a bit awkward since he's new to it all so he's not sure how to act!

-And for a study date, it wouldn't be your first date but a second date possibly? If you were struggling in any subject in school, he'd help!

-He would offer you to come over so he could help you with whichever subject you needed. Also, he'd be very awkward. Partly because his parents would be home as well but he would attempt to hide this fact with his confidence.

So I finally got around to watching and finishing Yashahime and so many things happened. They finally reunited with their parents, saved Ren, brought back Inuyasha and Kagome. Which was really great and fun and I just loved all of their interactions so much~ 

We found out that Towa’s teacher, who I had been suspicious of for a while was not Kirinmaru himself. But like Riku is just a piece of him, his hand, their was allot of epic fighting. Where Riku seemed to have died Which at the time had me upset because I had grown to really like Riku. But as we find out later he survived, (Yes!) possibly in the same way that Towa did. Thanks to Rion and now we seem to be done with Kirinmaru. What’s in store next, who knows, I guess well have to wait and see.

Okay maybe not the best summary but now I want to get into the best parts, or my favorites moments from the final episode of the season. 

One of which is Jaken, not only once but twice mentioning Sesshomaru having a happy expression. Which I’m a tiny bit disappointed we don’t really get to see it and then getting stepped on. You know Jaken if it happened once, it’ll probably happen again, lol although if he hadn’t said anything we probably wouldn’t know that Sesshomaru was happy seeing his kids.  

Kagome hearing about her daughter being in debt and then fussing/ordering Inuyasha to help out. Again I loved the interaction between the parents and kids, mostly Inuyash and Kagome and maybe Ren. Because Sesshomaru being his complicated and hard to read self hasn’t really interacted with them much. Not like Ren or Moroha’s parents have.

But also Moroha being so freaking cute, while interacting with her parents and also in that one scene. Where she’s talking with Setsuna and Towa about parents and they hug her, with Moroha being in the middle and becoming flustered. 

But the biggest moment where I lost it, because OMFG Hisui almost practically admitted to liking Setsuna!!! (But also Setsuna being so freaking oblivious and missing it completely!! lol)

Kingdom Hearts Final Mix Recap: Destiny Islands (A Prison, Surrounded by Water)

Our wakes up from his weird dream, looks around, then lies back down,only for a red haired girl to fully startle him awake.

This girl is Kairi, and our hero's name is Sora.

Another teen, Riku, shows up carrying a log with one hand, and throws it onto Sora's ribs for lazing around while he and Kairi were working on the raft. The three of them joke around a bit more, and then Kairi takes advantage of the boys' rivalry to rile them up into a friendly race, giggling as she runs after her friends.

After the race is done, Kairi tasks Sora with finding rope, a blanket for the sail, and some logs.

While collecting these items, Sora can have playfights with Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie. Upon defeating all three of them, Sora learns that Riku was able to take on all three at once and win, unlocking an optional battle with all three of the Final Fantasy characters.

In addition, Sora can fight Riku on the islet with the weirdly twisted tree. (The game keeps a tally of your wins and losses until you leave Destiny Islands.)

After collecting all the materials, Sora gets an item from Kairi as a reward. The less times he needed her to remind him, the better the item will be.

Before going home, the three friends watch the sunset together on the islet with the weird tree, where it's revealed that they intend to sail on their raft to another world. Riku knows it HAS to be possible, because Kairi herself had to come from somewhere. She's the reason he had this idea.

After Kairi's headed off the the boats and is out of earshot, Riku throws a star-shaped fruit at Sora, a Paopu. He reminds Sora of the legend where (as stated in the Japanese version) if you feed it to someone, your destiny will be forever intertwined with theirs. He asks if Sora intends to split one with Kairi, flustering the other boy as he laughs and heads to the boats so they can row back to the main island.

Meanwhile, in the distant world of Disney Castle, the Court Magician Donald Duck arrives at the audience chamber to wish his king and friend, Mickey Mouse, a good morning. However, the audience chamber is empty, and Pluto has a letter in his jaws.

Upon reading it, Donald runs out of the audience chamber in the panic, all the way to the gardens where Captain Goofy of the Royal Guard is taking a nap.

Donald wakes him up with a cast of Thunder, and tells him that the King has gone missing, and that they can't tell anyone, not even Queen Minnie or Lady Daisy, who are standing right behind Donald as he says this.

Meanwhile, it is now the following morning on Destiny Islands, and it's time to name the raft and collect rations for their voyage.

Riku wants to call the raft "Highwind" while Sora wants to name the raft [insert player choice here, but the default is "Excalibur"]. They decide to have a race to decide which name to use.

Before the race starts, Riku adds an extra wager: The winner will get to feed a Paopu to Kairi (going with Japanese text here because otherwise a scene later in the series won't make any sense). Kairi, not hearing Riku, starts the race before Sora can collect himself.

While the player can rematch Riku as many times as they want, this first race will permanently decide the name of the raft.

Regardless of the outcome, Riku reveals he was joking about the Paopu.

In the Final Mix only, a new text conversation with Kairi reveals that she's working on a special lucky charm made out of thalassa shells. It's said that charms shaped like Paopu Fruits will guide sailors back to each other, ensuring that they'll never truly be apart.

She then sends Sora to collect food for the raft.

Sora's gathering takes him to the Secret Place behind the waterfall, where he, Riku, and Kairi have scribbled all over the walls over the years. He walks up to a drawing he and Kairi had done of each other (Kairi's drawing of him being far more neat than his drawing of Kairi), and adds an arm holding out a paopu fruit to Kairi coming from her drawing of him.

This wholesome moment is interrupted by an ominous voice:

"This world has been connected. Tied to the darkness. Soon to be completely eclipsed."

The voice belongs to a man completely concealed in a brown robe. Sora asks him his name:

"A meaningless effort," the figure answers, "One who knows nothing, can understand nothing."

He disappears as abruptly as he appeared, with Sora wondering where he came from and where he went, since there's no way to open the door in the back of the cave, he and Riku have tried.

After he's done collecting all the food, he and Kairi watch the sunset on the pier, where Kairi remarks that Riku's changed. When Sora asks her if she remembers anything from her old home, she lies and claims to remember nothing (this isn't a spoiler, the cinematography used in this scene is typically only used to indicate deception in Japanese media).

Kairi jokingly suggests just taking the raft and going, and before heading home for the night, she looks forward to setting sail with Sora and Riku.

Meanwhile, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, Minnie, and Chip and Dale are going over the King's letter:

Donald,

Sorry to rush off without sayin' goodbye, but there's big trouble brewin'.

Not sure why, but the stars have been blinkin' out, one by one. And that means disaster can't be far behind. I hate to leave you all but I've gotta go check into it.There's someone with a "key"—the key to our survival. So I need you and Goofy to find him, and stick with him. Got it?We need that key or we're doomed! So go to Traverse Town and find Leon. He'll point you in the right direction.

Minnie chooses to place her trust in the King, and sends Donald and Goofy off on their mission, asking that they take Jiminy Cricket along to chronicle their journey.

While walking down to the hangar, Donald and Goofy chat with Jiminy, where he reveals that his world was destroyed, and he doesn't know if anyone else survived.

Donald reminds Goofy that they'll have to wear less conspicuous clothes once they arrive at their destination, since they can't let anyone else know that other worlds exist. They need to protect the World Order!

In the Hangar, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto board their vessel, a Gummi Ship that coincidentally has the same name as the raft Sora, Riku, and Kairi were working on! Which is how we know Riku is the canonical winner of the race, because it's called the Highwind in all future appearances!

The tunnel ahead opens, and Donald declares ignition, only for an arrow pointing down to appear before them, the Highwind dropped into a pit that goes clean through the World they're on and deposits them on the opposite side of the planet.

Setting a course for the closest world, they take off!

Back on Destiny Islands, Sora looks forward to the next day's departure, and looks outside his window to see that an ominous sphere of darkness has appeared over the Play Island.

Without a moment's hesitation, he rushes out to protect the raft, his mother announcing that dinner's ready in her only scene in the entire series, only to never again be acknowledged in the future of the franchise.

When Sora arrives, he finds that Riku's and Kairi's boats are already there, and the Shadows from his dream are also attacking.

His wooden sword can't hurt them, and the ornate door from the third stained glass platform is blocking the way to the Secret Place, so he runs up to Riku on the island with the Paopu Tree.

Riku, simply rambles on and on about how the door has opened, and this is their only chance to leave.

When Sora asks about Kairi, Riku impatiently snaps that Kairi's coming with them, and holds his hand out to Sora as he calls upon the powers of darkness to guide him to another world, opening dark portals beneath his own and Sora's feet.

Sora reaches out to his friend, but is engulfed by darkness before he can reach him. Fortunately, a bright light dispells, it, and he's now holding a key-shaped weapon, a Keyblade, already equipped with its default Keychain, the Kingdom Key.

Now able to damage and slay the Shadows, Sora fights his way back to the Secret Place, opens the ornate doors, and rushes in to find Kairi.

She looks physically drained, lifelessly states Sora's name as she turns to him, and the door in the back of the cave is thrown open by a blast of darkness. Sora tries to catch Kairi, but she passes through him and vanishes, Sora's own body getting thrown out of the Secret Place.

When Sora wakes up, he's on the only patch of land that has yet to be destroyed, suspended in the middle of an apocalyptic whirlwind of darkness, the Darkside from his dream having arrived for real.

Desperate, Sora fights the monster, eventually weakening it enough that it can no longer resist the pull of the dark vortex that tore Destiny Islands apart.

In spite of Sora's best efforts, he too is torn away, and thrown to a whole new world.

His adventure began, with the death of everything he knew.

Next off: the first trip to Traverse Town!

If his sisters were to see how flustered he gets over even the slightest compliment, they would undoubtedly tease him for the rest of his days.

He's relaxed after a long morning trip to their mother down below, the surface horizon breaking with the first burst of afternoon colour as he rises, & it's become near instinctual, now, to go to the cove they've called their own.

He's not surprised to see Sora there, though he isn't always - but it's a comfort when he is, for there always seems to be a bright smile aimed in his direction burning brighter the closer they get.

The kissing is new, too, even more so than the cove visits or anything else between them - it's like every kiss makes them bolder, more confident, & this kiss definitely lasts longer than the ones they've shared before, fingers brushing through the wet strands of his hair as his own hands catch against Sora's jaw.

He loses track of the seconds, ends up counting based on the rapid thrum of his heart in his chest, until they part - & it's fascinating, to see the way sky blues glaze over, as if this is too good to be real to Sora, & has to be a dream.

Sometimes Riku feels like that, too.

It's been a long running joke of his friends that he'll never date anyone because he's already married to the sea. They aren't --- weren't --- wrong; he'll be the first to admit he's always been bewitched by the waves, the eerie beauty, the mystery of what lays beyond where humans can physically reach.

Sometimes, he wonders if Riku is the ocean's gift to him for his earnest, lifelong commitment to its well being.

He waits on the warm sand of their little sanctuary with mounting impatience. There's homework in his backpack to do, a book about the anatomy of various species of sharks to distract him, snacks and water --- but he wants nothing more than his siren. When Riku finally does break the (relatively) tranquil surface of the water, everything, including his patience, is forgotten.

He meets him in the surf. His bare toes curl at the inevitable chill of the ocean, but it's forgotten in the velvet heat of their first kiss. It's hard to say which of them initiated it. It doesn't matter, not in the least, as his lips explore and memorize Riku's. The bitter tang of saltwater still clinging to the other's skin is forgiven.

The caress of fingers against his flesh, pressed against his jaw and cheeks, cause a hum of contentment; his own fingers catch and soothe through starlight hair, turned shades darker by the water still clinging to it. He remembers the comb and hair ties and towels tucked into his bag - and his fingers slide loose, only to catch around Riku's.

Their foreheads touch briefly.

This could be heaven.

The apology grabs his attention. His brows furrow, just slightly, and he has to force himself to focus to remember why he should be upset. But he's not. How could he be? Riku came back, after all.

"You don't need to apologize for that. I would wait the whole rest of my life for you, if I had to."

Sora tugs on those larger, gentler hands with the flash of that usual, devil-may-care smile.

"Come on. I brought snacks to share!"

And, it's likely that the rest of their afternoon would be spent in this little cove of theirs - truly, paradise. Then again, wasn't anywhere paradise, so long as Riku existed in the space?

Some little headcanons I have for the kiddos. Simply for fun and because while I despise the direction the anime took, these four had potential that was wasted.

Some brief notes: Towa and Setsuna are SessKagu twins, Rin grew up and became a healer. She later married Kohaku and they moved to the Demon Slayer village and had children.

Towa and Setsuna are Sesskagu’s only children as their birth was dangerous. But they have a big family w/ InuKag and MirSan.

Kirinmaru happened when the twins and Moroha were four and ended two years later. They have since lived in peace and just had some adventures. Zero, Rion and Riku never existed while Kirinmaru’s reason for wanting to fight was for territorial reasons.

Tuna twins first (I remember seeing this fun little nickname in the earlier episodes of YH, but can’t remember who coined it):

Towa 💖

She is kind, but is also crass. Unlike Setsuna who is reserved and tries to maintain some modesty, Towa is “Attack first, ask questions later” She also has a foul mouth because of Kagura and Inuyasha.

That usually results in Jaken yelling at her and getting smacked by Kagura.

She uses masculine pronouns and is usually assumed at first glance to be male since she prefers men’s clothing.

Gay 💖🏳️‍🌈 but still grasping who is aside from that. Being the daughter of a demon lord and also granddaughter to a former big bad really makes her question herself.

Rin is her mentor growing up and her confidant when she needs her.

As a teenager, she worked with swords. Her father, uncle and paternal grandfather did so it should work for her right?

She later settled on fans like her mother and knives.

She keeps her hair short until her twenties, growing it to her mid back. It eventually becomes wavy like Kagura’s.

The red of her eyes darkens over the years. Her eyes go from reddish-brown to magenta during her teen years before settling on the crimson hue her mother and grandfather Naraku are known for.

She strongly resembles her father when enraged: snarl and all. She even gets his glare down to the T by 17. Jaken cried himself to sleep the day he was on the end of a triple stare down from the twins and Sesshomaru.

Kagura affectionally calls her ‘spider lily’ because of her eyes.

She remains single until her 30s, through she does have lovers on and off.

The best way to sum of her and her wife’s entire relationship is essential HaruMichi from Sailor Moon except Towa winds up flustered more times than she can count during their courtship.

Setsuna 💜

Setsuna is the more polite twin. Inuyasha has stated she follows in Sesshomaru’s footsteps of being reserved.

She also follows his speech pattern of announcing herself as “This Setsuna” in an almost arrogant tone.

She was trained by Sango to fight, as was Towa.

She is asexual and aromatic. She doesn’t view love as she something she needs but acknowledges that it’s others seem to want and have. She however, enjoys being alone.

While Towa grows her hair out as an adult, Setsuna cuts her shorter and wears it in a fashion similar to her mother’s.

She and Moroha have a friendly rivalry and while she claims to hate it, she secretly enjoys when her cousin calls her ‘Setsu’.

Rin calls her Secchan.

Hisui is her brother in everything but blood. She also warns him that if he ever hurts Moroha, she won’t hesitate to hurt him.

KinGyo had a bet going on if Hisui would marry either Setsuna or Moroha. Kin’u wound up winning the bet.

She and Moroha enjoy teasing Towa when she becomes smitten with her future wife.

Sesshomaru affectionally calls her a wind spirit.

Moroha ❤️

Inuyasha dots on her. She is his first born and eldest daughter, and they always have little moments between them.

Inuyasha nuzzles her head.

Kagome taught her about herbal remedies, and she sought out Jenji when she was fourteen to learn more.

She is close with her cousins, and has a friendly rivalry with Setsuna.

Inuyasha gifted her a robe of the fire rat when she was eleven. Kagome gave her a bow and quiver a year later for her twelfth birthday.

She grew up with the MirSan brunch. KinGyo are her older sister figures while Hisui is her best friend and confidant.

She often calls him clueless when it comes to women flirting with him.

She often ignores the pain her chest when Hisui actually flirts back.

Because her life was spent in their company, she is just as mischievous as the KinGyo twins.

Kouga basically calls her his daughter, much to Inuyasha’s ire.

She has a younger brother named Hige and a sister named after her grandmother, Izayoi. Hige was born when she was 4 and Izayoi when she was 7.

While she loves slaying demons, she settled into the role of village priestess after Rin married Kohaku and Kagome settled into raising her siblings.

She and Hisui fell in love in their late teens to early twenties.

She was 19 when she got married, while Hisui was 21. They had their first child, a boy, two years later.

Moroha saved Towa’s future wife during a demon slaying mission.

She was able to meet her maternal family once. She was four months pregnant with her son when she was drawn to the well and went through.

She named her son after Kagome’s father.

Moroha outlives her husband and children, and even two generations of grandkids.

In an ode to her parents, she died resting against the Tree of Ages, surrounded by her cousins, uncle and aunt.

Hisui 💚

Took up demon slaying after being inspired by his mother and uncle.

He was gifted Hiraikotsu when he was eleven years old.

Has a much better relationship with his father than in the actual canon.

A bit clueless when it comes to women flirting with him. He’s a soft hearted young man, but he isn’t afraid to take care of his sisters and younger siblings.

The middle child and the oldest boy. Between his older sisters, and his younger brothers, someone has to be the Mom sibling.

There was period of seven years where he didn’t see Moroha or the Tuna twins. He was off demon slaying and forging his own path. He was 18 when he reunited with the three.

Hisui is his mother’s son when it comes to romance. He develops a crush on Moroha and doesn’t know how to handle it. So he usually keeps quiet but oh boy does he get jealous.

The moment he realizes he wants to marry Moroha, he sits Inuyasha down and asks for permission to court her. The hanyo is flabbergasted but he doesn’t make it easy (at first) but he folds a month in because he knows Hisui is a good kid.

He proposes in a similar fashion to his father. And like when his parents got engaged, Towa, Setsuna, KinGyo and their parents are all listening in.

He is a nervous wreck when he learns he is going to be a father.

He and Moroha have three children: two sons and a daughter.

Hisui was 84 when he died, surrounded by his family. He was also the first one to greet Moroha in the afterlife.

Hello hi! This idea is super cute even if I might not have done it proper justice! While Sora and Ven are quite similar, they both have their own reactions to their own feelings so I did both! Hope you enjoy and sorry if it is short!

Sora and Ventus crushing on their best friend

Sora

I think Sora would go for quite a long time without realising himself what his true feelings are. Everyone is his friend! Just friends…right?

For years, it’s days out as just “friends:” night-time walks on the beach, sharing Paopu fruit, adventures to other worlds, Sora staring lovingly into your eyes for minutes while you talk about something you love - you know, the usual. Sora’s not observant and neither are you, but he does have friends that are very observant. Kairi loves to stick her nose into Sora’s business already and Riku just wants the best for him so both of them have been taking mental notes for the past few years until Kairi gets super sick of it one day.

She takes Sora by the shoulders while he’s talking to you and outright pushes Sora away on his heels like she’s wheeling a wheelbarrow. He doesn’t really resist but asks why when he’s far enough away and Kairi snaps. “How can you not understand you love them?! I’m not even you and I can see it!” Sora won’t refute the idea but kind of goes silent, thinking. He…does? He trusts Kairi, he really does, but he’s never felt anything like this before.

Sora sets off on a metaphorical journey to find out what makes you more than just a friend. Which means even more time spent by your side and even more little “dates.” And, quickly, he starts to pick up tells from other couples around you both. He watches couples hug and is like “Yeah! I hug them all the time! Maybe it’s not so different!” then watches couples kiss and that quickly turns into him becoming super flustered and lost in thought. He’d love to but something in his heart is making him super nervous and he doesn’t understand why!

He’s trying so desperately to tell you how he feels but you’re just as confused as he is and can’t understand that by “more than friends,” he doesn’t mean “best friends” or “super best friends” or “super duper best friends.”

Ventus

Ventus is much quicker on the uptake than Sora purely just because he’s that little bit more mature and has probably had many “talks” from Eraqus and Aqua.

Those two are also probably one to notice - not Terra because he is useless with his own emotions, never mind other people’s - and try to let Ven figure it out on his own barring a few hints. Aqua might tease him a bit about it, the sisterly kind of “Going out to see your lover today, Ven?~” which Ventus brushes off as her being weird. On the walk there, though, Ven starts really thinking about it.

You two have been together for so long and have been through so much…Ventus couldn’t bear to lose you and finds himself feeling pretty lonely when you’re not around so…is that what love is? As much as he thinks about it, he forgets when he sees you because he’s just so entranced - all his worries fall away when you’re together.

It’s definitely something that keeps him up at night, though. He takes your ignorance to his puppy eyes and flushed face as a way of you saying you’re not interested in him like that and his fear of rejection and you viewing him as a creep keeps him up late.

Aqua sometimes assures him that it’s definitely not the case and you’re also just a little “awkward” like him and can’t quite tell the difference in each other’s behaviour when you’re together, but outsiders can see it all clearly. She nudges him out of the house to go tell you directly, explaining that some people just need to be told outright, that some can’t perceive others’ emotions very well.

Aqua really helps Ven regain all his confidence and he’s raring to tell you just how dearly he feels about you!...but he still can’t stop shaking and sweating and blushing like crazy.
