what do u recon the gorillaz types are?? murdoc either likes bimbos or goths bet
ohhhh
2-D: Enjoys. How to put it. Oddball types of women. Not quite alternative, just weird and slightly trendy. He just. Enjoys odd women. Like Paula. Yk? Not sure about men. Maybe jocks
Murdoc: Has already says he's partial to a "man prone to psychosis" so, that, and men with dimples. Judging from Kirk Douglas. He just likes. Pretty boys? That are slightly ripped. Classy. And as for women? I'm not quite sure, I think it's just "is a woman" for him. And "is into leather"
Russel: "Please just be a normal fucking person" is his type. Someone that can make him feel safe. Secure. Doesn't really matter what else. He just wants a friend
Noodle: Shares in some of Murdoc's tastes, but her taste in women is a bit more specific, maybe she just likes preppy girls for no reason (not me bending her tastes to skew toward Noobles 🤪)
Ace: "doesn't call the cops" is his type

SPARTACUS is one of my favorite movies, so I drew this tribute about a year ago when Kirk Douglas passed away. It has been gathering digital dust in my WIP folder ever since—in my head I’d built it up as a monumental task to complete, but when I opened up the file this past weekend I was surprised to find that it was like 85% finished and just needed a quick clean up and fine-tuning. Yet again I have learned that I shouldn’t put things off! 😅😬 ANYWAYZ, Kirk Douglas has a great face for caricature, and you can head over to my Instagram post to see a little video peek at a few of the steps I had in the sketch process, from super-crude to almost-there to all-done.

“The biggest lie is the lie we tell ourselves in the distorted visions we have of ourselves, blocking out some sections, enhancing others. What remains are not the cold facts of life, but how we perceive them. That's really who we are.”   RIP ~ Kirk Douglas

my brief eulogy for Kirk Douglas
Probably the only movie I know Kirk Douglas from is Disney’s “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.” It wasn’t my favorite movie, but Douglas’s cocky harpooner was definitely a highlight. He stole the show with “A Whale of A Tale”, and then on board the Nautilus he was quite the rebellious comic relief: breaking into Nemo’s treasury, making a guitar out of a turtle shell, befriending Nemo’s pet sea lion Esmeralda, shenanigans when he goes looking for love onshore.

but my favorite scene: the harpooner stole some specimen bottles, emptied out the preservatives (I think he and Esmeralda drank some), and then stuffed the bottles with SOS messages.
The Nautilus comes up to the surface for a short while. The Harpooner discreetly opens up the hatch, kisses those message bottles goodbye and throws them into the sea, humming “A Whale of a Tale” all the while.  ICONIC. srsly somebody find me a gifset or some footage

Kirk Douglas (December 9, 1916 – February 5, 2020)
In his youth, poverty was all too familiar to Kirk Douglas, the son of immigrants who migrated from Russia early in the 20th century to seek a better life. Anne Douglas was born into privilege in Hannover, Germany, until the Second World War divided her family and turned privilege into hardship.
Kirk and Anne Douglas were destined to find one another and in their own way share their experiences with those around them. Through Kirk Douglas’s success in the film industry, they found themselves looking to do more than simply live as celebrities. They wanted to give back – not only in thanks for their many blessings, but as a means of teaching their children and grandchildren the lessons they had learned.
The Douglas Foundation’s principal goal is to help those who cannot otherwise help themselves.  Its primary focus is improving the education and health, fostering the well-being, and most importantly developing new opportunities for the children who hold our future in their hands.
Recognizing the crisis in health care today, the Douglas Foundation also lends its support to medical research, equipment, and programs within the health system that strive to enhance the quality of care in local communities.
