Are the pieces you did you nnd day 1&2 continuous in anyway? I’m really curious about the idea of Penny being what looked like a full on robot as a kid.

You have a very keen eye! Yes, I had the intention of the two drawings being connected :) Basically the whole thing started with a really fat "what if...".

My thought was that the scientist team wanted to test if Penny can operate a body safely before building her final, more advanced body (which probably wouldn't be similar to the canon design... in my head at least).

Then Penny learned about, you know, stages of life and being a kid and growing up and she nuked poor Pietro with puppy eyes and a "But daaaaad.... Please?". And of course the poor man budged. Even if it meant that he had to rebuild and adjust the mechanical body every year or so. As years went by, Penny more or less made her own design and upgrades step by step.

So... that's the core of it. I hope it was worth the read. Right now I'm focusing more on getting the prompts done in time, but I think I will explore the idea more when I have the time. :)

Edit: I forgot to include this part: I also thought it would be a cute thing if Ruby and Penny figured out things together about growing up and gender and all that stuff. (Forgive my crude wording. I'm kinda half asleep already.)

Do you know how they are picking questions? Is it just like a group call and everyone talks a bit?

I believe they said they aren’t going to pick questions and instead more talk amongst themselves about things that came up, which seems reasonable. It sounds like it will be facilitated by Brian as usual, and personally I think Dani Carr should get to just submit like 50 questions but that’s just me.

I also don’t know how exactly they’re filming (video chat? in Brian and Ashley’s backyard?) or if they’re still doing two guests at a time but I don’t see why they’d change that format since it is still a time commitment and having everyone on the call for a more directed discussion is a lot. I think three or four people max on the call for a real discussion is probably the best way to go or chaos will in fact reign.

So glad we all agree The Things They Carried was an awful book!

Oh it’s so bad... it has some literary merit and is a realistic take on war and why there’s no winners I’ll give it that but like.... not only is it one of the most boring and dry books I’ve ever read (that for some reason gets touted as the fucking epitome of Symbolism And Hidden Meaning??? Read Beloved by Toni Morrison and then look me in the eyes and tell me TTTC has superior usage of symbolism) but it also just has so many moments where you’re like “this is a very... not great portrayal of Vietnamese culture” (tongue necklace chapter yes I know it’s not explicitly meant to portray the culture but you can’t ignore that it’s representing the girl “””becoming one with the land””” shut up Tim O’Brien.) like I get it “oouurhhhgh war is hell we are all suffering” is a fair statement but like massively ignores the suffering of the viatnamese people who had their fucking land invaded and were killed just so the US could fulfill its capitalist wet dream of eradicating the evil of communism. Also nobody ever talks about why the authors self insert’s wife is named after his real life daughter which isn’t a massive con to the book but like Why? Why Did You Do That? in terms of books my school made me read it wasn’t the worst (silver star by Jeanette walls takes that gold medal) but it was one I really just did Not Enjoy.
