Funny story idea...

Every god in the pantheon has Isekai'd their own hero into the world. This is too many heroes, all fighting in their own way to achieve the same goal.

Since only one of them can be "God's Chosen Hero destined to save the world!" they aren't just fighting against the big bad, they're even fighting each other!

They are causing too much chaos.

Time to Isekai in a villain to take them out.

I just had some thoughts about my AU, particularly the Extraction thing... and the bit leading up to the MCI...

(spoilers for We Become What We Consume/For Clara/FNaF stuff)

So, basically, once a week, a seemingly-randomly-selected employee is harvested, and has their remnant extracted, right?

There's an entire chapter explaining the process behind this, including the fact that William purposefully hires inexperienced, younger people who won't have the reference to know this isn't a normal job, targeting college students from out-of-town, since their families won't notice they're gone for a few months, at least. There's some deleted scenes where he's basically stalking them, to find out who's the easiest to trick, manipulate, or outright kidnap.

(There's one I really like, but had to take out for time where he figures out one of the mechanics he hired to basically just hold the Cupcake feels underutilized and unimportant, so he's like "I can make you worth something to me if you just hop in that there soul-eating deathtrap" and after a ton of convincing, she does it. She kinda felt like a self-insert and the chapter was wordy, so it's not going in the published fic.)

For the most part, it's from William's perspective, so it's all very justified. He genuinely thinks this is a morally good thing to do. It's to keep his family alive! That's the right thing to do! Everything is fine!!!

But as we lean away from the somewhat-justified extraction, and into cold-blooded murder, as we approach the incidents that are going to slowly ruin this man's life, the methods stop being planned the same way. It isn't about doing what's right. It's about doing whatever will get him his remnant fix.

Now, it's like a game to him: if he kills children, in hopes they'll have more remnant, since they would have had longer lifespans in front of them, and someone notices they've gone missing, he can just pin the blame on the performer who used the suit that lured them away-- the performer who has been dead for a week.

It's no longer about making sacrifices for his family, it's about making a game out of other people's misery, and seeing how long he can go before it comes back to bite him.
