I like to think that at least once, the Avatar cycle seemed to skip the Water Tribe—like people knew it was the water tribe’s turn, everyone was looking for them, the tests are done on all the kids, but like 60-80 years go by and no avatar until some Earth Kingdom kid shows up. People wonder if the cycle skipped a generation or what, but nothing serious was going on at that time so they shrug and move on.

It’s only many many years later that someone is researching Swampbender oral history and someone tells the story of “Ol Stinky Jess, she was a funny one, could light the swamp on fire an’ all sorts o’ shenanigans! Best catfishgator catcher in the tribe, she was” and thats literally it, she just lived a totally chill life in the swamp and nobody knew what an avatar was at the time so they just rolled with that funny gal’s odd bending ways.

Saw a post a while back that said something along the lines of 'math textbooks, but written in the style of fanfiction' which I spontaneously remembered today. So I looked up a random math textbook and- they kind of already are?

'A proof is a sequence of logical statements, one implying another, which gives an explanation of why a given statement is true.'

Okay- hear me out, but- 'They were inseparable, a chain of linked actions, one implying the other - a simultaneous explanation that regarded them both as true.'

And 'Writing proofs is the essence of mathematics studies.' is just straight up the kind of over-dramatic description you would find in old fanfiction hidden in a locked folder from seven years ago that you abandoned on well justified principle-

Hey gang! River Babble here! [Insert obligatory “Im not dead” reassurance.] Some quick updates for yall who are still hanging around (thanks you’re awesome!):

Yes, I do plan to continue IANAA someday (AND DO ALL THE PATREON CAMEOS IM SO SORRY FOR THE WAIT YOU GUYS) No, I still don’t have that day nailed down, although I have slowly started finding excuses to draw Sales and the gang again, which is a step in the right direction!

My cat Shuri is COMPLETELY healed AND all her fur grew back on the shave site!

I have an editing job and a HOUSE now! Which I am currently not staying in because freakin MOLD likely caused by a leak in the basement gave me a rash and I had to flee until I can get the issue fixed. (I am fine! My parents lent me a guest room and I have medicine! And I work from a laptop, so that’s easy to accomodate.)

On those notes, because I’m in the mood to draw MLP and because it’s a nice way to recoup a little of the bills related to the annoying mold issue, I am currently open for commissions! Just character sketches or inked lineart right now, as I don’t have the bandwidth to color on my laptop or do backgrounds. I offered on my Discord first, but I wanted to share it here, too, in case anyone else wanted a shot at a slot. :) PM me if interested!

Pricing: $10 for sketches, $20 for inked, $5-$10 extra for props or fancy outfits, depending on complexity. A second character in the same scene gets a $5 discount, so long as they are interacting.

Inspired by my Wasteland Timeline where Salespitch’s dad Sales Patter broke his horn, @reversal-mushroom wanted to see what Sales Patter would look like in Tempest’s role and Storm King armor. I must say this was fun to draw and I rather think he pulls it off. :D

Oh my word, you guys.

Clark Kent's glasses. What is they aren't fake.

As in. He doesn't need a prescription. But what if the glasses are prescription? Have you ever tried looking through prescription glasses that aren't yours? How wonky it is? I'd find it pretty irritating to go around all day in some that were even slightly off.

But I'm thinking about it and . . . this guy is physical perfection, basically. But he's always pretending to be an ordinary, even somewhat klutzy, human. That must be hard to maintain all the time. Having to constantly make sure you aren't TOO perfect? Always trying to find a balance of acting slightly off-kilter, even klutzy, so people would never suspect?

Maybe giving himself bad vision is a simple way to naturally handicap himself. Make him just a little more cautious and unsteady. He's still have to be careful, of course - but Clark is always super (ha) aware of his own strength. Maybe the glasses help make it a little easier, take a little of the pressure off, because they naturally give him a minor, normal weakness he doesn't have to fake?

It's a little thing, wearing wrong-prescription glasses when he could just wear non-prescription frames (and hope nobody every looked through them and questioned why he was faking). But maybe that little bit of distortion of his vision, making himself feel just slightly off-balance but in a way that he can shed when he needs to save the day . . . maybe it helps him feel a little more human.

so now we have FOUR versions of the "Manor Family Photo" - two with Orpheus; the one with just him and his parents and the one with Bane's parents, their faces obscured:

and two with Alice, one with normal eyes and the newest one with button eyes:

and all that confusion aside, i'm most intrigued by the significance of button eyes vs. regular eyes. we know it's significant who has them and who doesn't, and we've seen plenty of examples of this.

the earliest example we see of this contrast is in "Go Hunting"/"Da Capo", where Orpheus and "Memory" have normal eyes while Norton has button eyes (EXCEPT in his Hunter form/when he has Detention):

and then even more intriguingly, we got to see Luchino's eyes change the literal second he was bitten by the mysterious reptile, even before he became a Hunter:

see also Yhidra's followers permanently having one button eye and one normal eye, implying that this condition is related to Yhidra somehow.

but of course all the Hunters have normal (or relatively normal) eyes and all the Survivors have button eyes (in their shorts and in-game, although we've seen pre-game portraits where they also have normal eyes), and the family portraits and "Memory"/Alice show that there is a significance beyond that. one could argue based on Luchino's short that the difference is a particular connection being made, but Norton going back and forth between the two states, as well as the Survivors being seen prior to the Game with normal eyes, disproves that imho.

AND THEN THERE'S THIS.

according to NetEase, "humans" have normal eyes, and "puppets" have button eyes. but again, why do Yhidra's followers have one of each? why does Luchino become "human" when he is bitten by Yhidra's reptile? why does Norton only appear "human" sometimes?
