if you want a game dealing with accepting something difficult and inevitable i do highly recommend slay the princess! part of the reason i don't think deltarune is about escapism is because i don't think kris and co. need to accept the inevitable reality of. oppressive social structures (ie. the light world) that are not inevitable and in fact do not need to exist at all! we don't have to placidly accept that ralsei and his fellow darkners need to be objectified so kris can go to Normal High School. slay the princess by contrast is about accepting the reality of death and change – that is, that people are not immortal and things will change, but that can be beautiful as well as terrifying. death is a force of nature. suburbia isn't.

OK so I have never watched Riverdale and I have a Question: did the show, like, start out batshit insane, or was it fairly normal and then just drove off a cliff at some point...? Or was it more like a "boiling the frog" thing where it starts sane and then like two or three seasons in you've got parallel timelines and funeral cheerleaders?

So it starts kind of. Normal crazy? As in the first episode and season center around the death of Jason Blossom, Cheryl's twin. Not only is it revealed that a major character's family member is a straight up serial killer, but that he isn't even the one who killed Jason. And that the Blossom maple syrup business is a cover for a drug ring!

So uh. Batshit from the start but Gets Worse as it goes on. But by God it's like a trainwreck that I couldn't stop watching

(also the parallel timeline doesn't come into play until about season 6 after the timeskip and with the introduction of their stupid super powers that I Hate)

Advent Challenge - Day 13

My little Advent Challenge here reaches a new stage. The next 6 days will continue with Sketching. I'm looking forward to it. While it was cool to try out a medium like lettering, where I don't have much experience yet, it's also nice to do something in safer territory again. I'll have to see what motifs I use. Of course, it could be that I only draw Portraits for the next 6 days. They're simply the most fun with the medium. I'll start with one of my favorite characters from Dragon Age - this one actually comes right after Dorian in the popularity list. Loghain MacTir, hero of Riverdale. In this case somewhat younger - probably how he looked during The Stolen Throne Yeah, I know, he generally doesn't have that many fans compared to the crap he did in Origins. Guess I'm a sucker for grumpy guys with questionable morals and a tragic backstory :D

veronica's beauty (notable mention: her line “welcome to lodge lodge”)

jughead being a wEiRdO/a complete pathetic mess (the rat king...). also tabitha seeing him all disheveled + running from loan sharks and falling in love

tabitha. just..tabitha 

chic and charles

jughead and tabitha j living in their own little world. crazy things still happen to them, but they just roll w/ it and go to work. superpowers? comet headed towards the town? whatever jughead has debt to pay

reggies lines. the man doesnt give a shit about anything and it shows

chicles. yeah theyre here twice theyre so fucking funny and insane I love them

archies indifference to insanity. specifically the scene where he fell through the ceiling and just walked it off, unbothered 

the trash bag killer walking around in literal trash bags and this not being treated as peak stupidity. like seriously, if I saw him id laugh at the constant sound of crinkling plastic
