I'm rewatching Malex scenes cause I miss the hell out of them and I decided to share my new ranking of Top Five Malex Scenes:

V • 4.02

I love this scene because it shows growth in Michael we haven't really seen before with Alex. The trust he put in him was amazing and I just love that so much.

IV • 3x10

Oooh this SCENE. Calling him Alexander, reaffirming that they are HOME to each other. And the scene after- it was simply perfection.

III • 1x01

The scene that started my obsession with Malex, and the one that made me start watching RNM in the first place. I don't know if I've said it before but one of my favorite scenes for my ships is a forehead touch, and these two not only gave me that, but also longing, pain and somehow, peace. I will never be over it.

II • 3x03

Unfortunate beanie aside (yes I'm bitter they didn't give a better one, that actually covered his ears ffs), I still can't watch this one without tearing up. The whole scene was perfection in how Alex managed to call out Michael for his self deprecation, but also managed to finally get it through his thick skull that Alex CARES- and he cares A LOT.

Annnnnnd Finally:

I • 1x12 Prison Scene

I will NEVER SHUT UP ABOUT THIS SCENE. The show is probably gonna end with this one at the top of this list. I remember watching it and not believing what was happening, because it was so raw and real and heartbreaking. I could write a whole essay about this scene, but I won't cause this post is long enough.

I will say this though: Alex's rescue better top the angst/heartbreak/love in this scene.

first impression: lol, followed quickly by ‘please let them be brothers’

impression now: fluffy cat, like not the kind from being long haired but from Max and Isobel towel drying him a little roughly. Anyways, on a more serious note I wasn’t a fan of his season four characterization (and a decent chunk of season three) so it’s been a difficult track for me to come to terms with his character. But I love and adore him and all his arcs of that makes sense. So I guess my impression now is he’s as delightfully complex as most if not all of the rnm cast. And I really wish they’d delved more into his hopes and dreams (specifically earth centric) and that intellect that’s always there. Instead of just saying he’s a genius and such. Like maybe he’s waxing poetic about how his future is going to look and he’s in graduate school while raising his three beautiful alien hybrid kids.

favorite moment: Hands down his intro scene. I mean ‘crying and masturbating to Russian moralistic literature’. But also cause I love to cry that scene in 1x12-13 where he and Max are at odds post his mothers death. I think Vlamis did a good job of capturing Michael’s desperation and the way sometimes rational thought escapes people in the face of loss.

idea for a story: One day I’m going to actually write the season one au where he and Liz are the main couple, and they lock themselves “accidentally” into his grotto for legit days science-ing and banging.

unpopular opinion: Idk, probably not liking how Hollier changed a lot of his character once he got the reins. (Specifically the fact Michael stopped having palatable interactions with women -barring Liz in 4x08- during season four)

favorite headcanon: I would love love love that he and Heath had shared a group home when they were around the ages of nine. And Michael was always like ‘what are you doing?’ cause Heath hand wrote letters to Dallas every day, and then Mikey starts writing to Max and Isobel. But he doesn’t have an address, just keeps them in a little box he took three homes ago.

my favorite female character: Liz Ortecho, my #1 gal.

my favorite male character: Alex Manes- the love I have for this character is immeasurable.

my favorite book/season/etc: Season 1, hands down

my favorite episode (if its a tv show): I think this is gonna come as a surprise to absolutely no one- 1x12.

my favorite cast member: I don't really follow any of them all that closely, but if I had to choose I would say Tyler cause I knew him the longest and loved him in PLL and his music (aka like 3 songs) is great.

my favorite ship: Malex (Echo is a really, really, REALLY close second. Difference is almost nonexistent)

a character I’d die defending: My main guy Max Evans- he gets so much unnecessary hate.

a character I just can’t sympathize with: Maria.
