Ghost Train

It was no secret that the trains in Gotham were damaged, whether it was from all the explosions that flooded the city on a daily basis or the fact that the rails were broken wasn't completely clear. At that point, what was once a train station was nothing more than an empty place used by some homeless people to sleep.

Or that's what it was supposed to be, because while the station was damaged and underneath the city, it was actually active. It just had another kind of train, a slightly more interesting one.

In Danny's defense, he was extremely bored and there was an abandoned train station he could use to play with. All it took was calling in a favor from Technus and a fully functional ghost train connected the Infinite Realms to Gotham.

The ghosts, of course, used this for fun. Fighting each other, chasing each other, celebrating, having concerts. It was a way to go to the human world without anyone causing trouble for them, not that anyone was paying attention anyway.

Or at least, no one was supposed to be paying attention, because Waylon was dumbfounded at the sight. He had escaped to the old rails when he had no other choice, his sewers were compromised and he needed a way out. He didn't expect to walk right into a party, or be offered a sandwich with a smile instead of a shout.

He could also observe a clearly glowing train and the fact that everyone there was glowing. They could be metas, or another completely new creature, but Waylon didn't care, they gave him food and he wasn't a snitch.

sooo glad we live in the universe where twdgs4 was rewritten to be about saving the school instead of the original lis2-esque on the road each-episode-is-a-new-location plot. really dodged a bullet there

dont know if it was due to the cuts and collapsing work environment (no budget for all the assets needed) or what but the school plot is just like the perfect setting for her to end her story. and we really almost got a plot about her.... just trying to make it back to her original house? oof

#my biggest problem with lis2 is that being on the road made a lot of your choices essentially meaningless #like wheres the threat of consequence when you know youll be gone by the next episode anyway? #the kids were originally gonna kick them out permanently.......Nightmare Scenario #the plot of her trying to get back 'home' is so silly honestly like its Just nostalgia/fan bait. convince me otherwise you cant #it makes no sense....she lived right outside a major city... that place is Not safe anymore #it wasnt even safe when she left it 8 years ago girl why would you go back #her finding a place to MAKE a new home and having to fight for it? with a community of her peers who love and respect her? so much better #shes a community leader now :) of a bunch of kids living secretly in the woods just trying to make a safe home for themselves #in a hostile world that wants them dead #love that for her #shes been managing adults since she was 11 and even before that tried to be a voice of reason. at 8 years old. community leader makes sense #s4 is just so narratively sound to me for clems character that i cant believe there was ever any other direction they wanted to go in #every time im thinking about how good s4 is i remember what it almost was......... and i am so grateful we got what we did #not only do we live in the universe where s4 is about the school but we Also live in the universe where s4 was un-cancelled :) yay #shit makes me so happy man. i remember clem is living happily at ericsons and my day is Immediately improved #these little fictional bitches in my head giving me free serotonin on command #it speaks #twdg

its a unique kind of pain when you get really into something with a small fanbase and not much recent fanart, and you find a really cool piece from a really good artist and you just love how they interpret and draw the characters and you're obsessed with it and you can't wait to see what else they have in store, but then you go to their blog and you realize that the drawing was just a one-off 'i watched this show (etc.) recently and thought it was kinda cool" and they're very unlikely to make anything else for it again

#in general being into superhero comics it's so. it's sketchy out there #and it's like i don't know WHERE to go. where do i look? where is it safe? #it's one of those things where the source material and the fanbase is so big that its super diluted and spread out all over the place #there are factions. i'm likely to stumble into enemy territory. i'm absolutely going to walk face first into untagged x reader smut. #i walk into a bar searching for water and all the usual patrons turn their heads staring daggers at me #so i wander down the dusty road sunburnt and dehydrated just looking for a place to lie my head down for the night #and i meet a man on the street corner selling some beautiful pieces or original art and i say #good day to you sir my what fine work you've got there! #and he takes me by the hand and he says #come with me. i know a place #and so he leads me down an alley back round behind the inn (no vacancies) and he takes me to a door #and there's a staircase that leads to a room down under the old inn and i step inside and there's a group of 10 or so people #engaging in a lively discussion around a table and they look at at me- this newcomer- and welcome me like an old friend #and its beautiful #...huh?

Not me crying over Baldur’s Gate 3, my Tav is slowly getting more and more morally dubious and it’s only a little bit their fault

I finished my (sketchy af but at least done) outline for my next project, and my bag is packed: tomorrow morning I’m taking a freaking vacation!!!

oh no the character who was comedic relief and silly has transformed in my mind into the most nuanced and mentally ill wet cat in all the land

I actually really really like Wally as well. He's a super expressive and responsive character, and it makes him very fun to write. I find the way he talks, thinks and engages with his environment and other characters to be inherently entertaining and charming. He's definitely produced some of my favourite bits of incidental prose/dialogue comedy in the story so far.

He's been coming off as a bit antagonistic and mean for the last few chapters but I promise it's not meant to bash him or make him look bad. He's just a flawed character - I like the complexity it gives him - and this is a situation where he's going to have to face some of those flaws. Speaking of which...

I am so excited to finally be on this chapter, you have no idea. I've been planning this one for ages - the bones of some of these scenes and conversations were plotted out while walking between classes back in the final year of my degree (i.e. yonks ago). I think I've come up with a pretty unique or at least, not very common way of solving this particular character problem and I am so keen to share and talk about it with everyone!
