Chrissy Cunningham, Edissy and Grace Van Dien

I don't usually make long text posts on here - hopefully I will make more about awesome female characters in the future - but I feel this situation requires it.

There are spoilers under the cut.

First off, I really liked Chrissy Cunningham as a character when she appeared. A lot of people did, and a large part of that is the actress making her so likeable. I assumed we were going for the bitchy head cheerleader stereotype when they introduced her, but I was wrong. She was really sweet, kind and had immediate chemistry with Eddie.

Obviously, the actors (Joseph Quinn and Grace Van Dien) made their characters so amazing and their acting made the characters have undeniable chemistry. Whether you see that as platonic chemistry or romantic chemistry, it's undeniable that it's there. The scenes they shared were wonderful and I actually got very attached to Chrissy in the short time we had with her.

Now, I ship 'Edissy' (Eddie x Chrissy) and I shipped them immediately. However I understand that some people see them as platonic and see a friendship there, which I totally understand. We don't all ship the same things. I also ship 'Steddie' (Steve x Eddie), and I love both those ships. They're great.

What is NOT great is the fact that a lot of people within the Stranger Things fandom - most of whom seem to ship Steddie as well - seem to think it's okay to post nasty and hateful things about Chrissy, Edissy and Grace herself. A lot of them have even sent Grace hateful messages on social media and genuinely made her fear going to conventions because she's worried about in person hate.

They are also claiming that Edissy is paedophilia because Eddie is around 19/20 and Chrissy is 17/18. They are both SENIORS, which means they are around the same age and even though Eddie has been kept behind a couple of years, he's still a teenager, like Chrissy. That age gap is NOT PROBLEMATIC and if you think it is, you need to log off the internet and go the fuck outside into the real world.

Edissy is a perfectly fine and valid ship, as is Steddie. If you don't ship it, awesome. Just move on with your life and don't harass people who do.

Moving on from people being gross about the ship, the fact that some of you think it's okay to harass and bully the actress who plays Chrissy on social media because you've decided you don't like the ship is vile and horrific. And a lot of people doing that are

a) super weird Steddie shippers who remind me of the horrible Lokius shippers in the Loki/MCU fandom who harass Sophia Di Martino for playing a female character that 'gets in the way' of their white mlm ship and

b) obsessed Eddie Munson/Joseph Quinn stans, who, a lot like the Tom Hiddleston stans in the Loki fandom (who send hate to Zawe Ashton, Tom's real life fiancée, as well as Sophia), or Robert Pattinson stans in The Batman/Twilight fandom (who send hate to Suki Waterhouse, Rob's irl girlfried, and a lot of whom seem to hate BatCat and Zoe Karvitz), seem to hold up their favourite purest bestest boy fictional character and the actor who plays him, but hates any woman who is close to him irl or in the shows/movies they're in, and seems to think they have some weird claim over them

You DO NOT have ANY CLAIM over a fictional character NOR THE ACTOR WHO PLAYS HIM.

The fact that you all have decided to bully and harass and young woman over a fictional romance that NEVER happened (both ships guys, BOTH ships) and are insinuating that the friendship between real people (the actors) is fake because you can't handle a a woman being friends with a man you see as your possession, is absolutely disgusting and you are all scum.

Also, so much of it stems from misogyny, and what's worse is that a lot of the people hurling this misogynistic abuse are other WOMEN. That is vile. It disgusts me. Women are people, and male/female ships are VALID. Also, the fact that you only harass the ACTRESSES in these situations tells so much. You all still see women (other women for many of you) as obstacles to what you want and as lesser then you. Go and revaluate your misogyny, internalised or not.

Also, while I'm here, all the people crying about Eddie being queer - you do realise bisexual and pansexual people exist? As well as a wealth of other sexualities where it's possible to love/be attracted to more then ONE gender. People in male/female relationships CAN BE QUEER. Eddie can like Chrissy AND Steve. It's possible.

Anyway, I got distracted. Chrissy is a wonderful character, Edissy is a great ship (romantic or platonic) and Grace Van Dien seems like a lovely young woman.

If you have been hateful towards Grace, or any other female actor, for playing a female character that you perceive as 'stealing' a male actor/character you like, or as 'getting in the way' of your gay ship? YOU ARE THE ONE WITH THE PROBLEM. You need to work on yourself and your misogyny and you need to leave social media and stop harassing real people.

I am ashamed to ship Steddie because so many abusive people ship it too and have decided that this is the 'superior' ship and they need to harass people who ship a different ship or need to harass the actress who plays one part of the other ship. I'm also ashamed to love Eddie Munson as a character because so many hardcore Eddie 'stans' (who also obsess over Joseph Quinn) are also being abusive towards Edissy shippers and Grace as well.

I adore Chrissy, and Grace, and I ship Edissy. I needed to say that. And the rest of it needed to be said.

To all those antis, haters, whatever you call yourselves. If you've harassed and bullied Grace or anyone on social media for liking Chrissy or Edissy, I wish the worst fates on you. Grow up, put down your phone and go and revaluate yourself and how you think.

So this author wrote this as a prequel to one of my fics, and I’m incredibly glad I managed to inspire them because now we all have this to enjoy. It’s five times the length and perfect and you should all go read it right now!

leave my heart open - temerity (forsanethaec) - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] - E, 29k - canon. To be honest, I forgot to make notes for this one, read it almost two months ago and have a terrible memory. But it’s a long, plotty, canon Nouis fic with angst and pining, you know I’m reccing it for a reason.

Top 5 Batman portrayals? 👁️🫦👁️💕

So Misha said they don’t have to be live action portrayals so there’s a mix in here! This was also SUPER HARD TO CHOOSE so for the record these aren’t so much ranked as they are a nebulous cloud of a top 5

Kevin Conroy in B:TAS/TNBA/JL. This was probably pretty predictable. Come on. He’s first voice I hear in my head while thinking about Batman (a close second tho actually is something like his voice in Arkham Origins and the Hush movie! Idk their actors tho) and he played one of if not the most important Batman portrayals ever. To get NUANCED about this briefly, I do have issues with the DCAU’s later writing for Bruce, namely how everything about him seems to get so grimdark and edgy compared to his warmth and gentleness in B:TAS BUT how and ever SO. Kevin Conroy king forever 👑

Robert Pattinson in The Batman. You know I love me my Rpatz. I can absolutely understand why he might not be someone’s favourite, especially if they’re a fan of the classic depiction of Bruce, but what I really love about him (and this extends to Riddler too!) is that despite being different in some ways on the surface, all his traits ultimately come from the same core character and experience as depictions that feature more galas, swimwear models and ski trips in the Alps Brucie Waynes. He’s both a very grounded depiction of a deeply troubled man yet he toes the line between the “realism” of ‘verses like the Nolanverse and more camp superhero stuff so well and he has so much potential for his sequel, as well as of course giving us the chance to see him be a detective!! Finally!! To mention Robert himself then, he did such an amazing job playing Bruce. I love Robert Pattinson, I really do, I seek out movies with him in them, and still every time I see him in a movie, Rob completely melts away and it’s just… the character. There truly are few actors I can say that about, but I feel it so strongly for him, and his Batman portrayal was no different. (Also autidm bruce yuh). I also love his dynamic with Jim, Rob and Jeffrey are so good together.

Bruce in Batman: The Imposter. A non-actor one on here! Admittedly I don’t read as many comics as I’d like, but Batman: The Imposter was one I had to buy in May after seeing The Batman and having it recommended to me. For a lot of the same reasons I like The Batman 2022 Bruce, I like B:TI Bruce. I find with him that there’s such a… a softness to him. When he’s Bruce, there’s such a quietness, almost a meekness to him. He really reads as very pained but still somehow managing to find a kindness in his heart, even when he’s so isolated from the world. I also think it’s interesting — if slightly concerning — that Alfred is pretty much gone from Bruce’s life. A while after Bruce comes into Alfred’s care as a child, Alfred can’t handle him anymore, sends him off to boarding school, and dips from the Wayne family completely. Absolute worst Alfred I’ve ever seen, we do not stan. BUT my point is that, while I feel like there’s a chance the author wrote Bruce to be alone for the sake of cliche lone wolf edgelord, it just makes his shy nature outside of the Batman suit stand out to me more. Even so alone, he hasn’t lost hope. And. The page where he’s talking about his effect on Gotham, and he sheds a tear from under the cowl. Yeah. Yeah it got to me. Also! He’s the closest we have to a canonically autistic Bruce!

David Mazouz in Gotham. Okay. Okay. Gotham is not well-written, nor do I like the fact that Bruce plays a part in the show at all, I don’t like him being on a path to Batman from the moment his parents die. HOWEVER. I think David is a fantastic depiction of a young, struggling to grieve, anger-filled, doesn’t-want-to-feel-powerless Bruce. He’s a kid trying to understand himself and the world that’s been turned upside down on him, and David portrays a great balance of innocence and blooming maturity. Also, the older he gets, the more he looks like a perfect Bruce I swear to god. Even if I don’t like Bruce’s role in the show, I always thought David Mazouz was a great fit.

Bruce in The Batman 2004 cartoon. This one’s just fun. They don’t really touch on the darker aspects of him and they don’t mention his parents much at all (they don’t pretend they never died, but they’re very *very* vague and rare about their mentions of them) but I just think he’s really fun. He’s young and energetic but he’s not a party animal, and I think he’s interesting as a,, surprisingly stable Bruce. He also doesn’t have as much separation between Batman —> Bruce and Bruce —> Brucie as other depictions which I think is interesting! He feels very genuine and always like himself, but they’re also not afraid to show him being self-destructive or neglecting his needs for his work.

BONUS MENTION BECAUSE I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS: Ben Affleck in the DCEU. Okay okay OKAY I do not like the DCEU. I really don’t, and I think Bruce is grievously miswritten (???) in BvS. But. Ben deserved better. I can very easily see him as Bruce. I think he makes a very good older Bruce, AND he was great in the party scene in BvS where he meets Clark and they butt heads. Same as with Henry Cavill, they deserved to play better written versions of their characters.

I think we might see them spending Christmas separately and we might get some unfollows. Keep an eye on unfollows because Sebastian Stan's team cleaned his ig with all the interactions he had with his pr gf Ale. He unfollowed her too so that might also happen here. We might never get a break up article because there was none for Seb too he was just seen with Annabelle after five months.//

I want to clarify this. I am a SebStan girl and no, he did not unfollow Ale. People from his circle did. Her brother also unfollowed SS after their breakup. We never had an official article but there were lots of articles coming from spanish media outlets. She also posted passive-aggressive stuffs about breakups and meditation during Late December to January, and we took that as a sign of break up bc she's dramatic (God, if only you knew). Her last bating attempt was thanksgiving, and the one in December where her best friend Jon posted a tree as a tribute for ale and ss relationship. Seb however ignored it and we were laughing bc after 2 weeks he dumped her ass and sent her flying back to Spain.

There were sightings of Seb in feb saying he was with a blonde woman and by May 2022, it was Annablle. Pictures of them got released from time to time. There are others from feb, the rob pattinson's party, and then pap walks.

I think public opinion has turned on fandom & stan culture in general. Things like when Adam Driver stans performed rituals to try and get his wife to miscarry his baby & die in the process, all the disgusting racism thrown at FKA Twigs when she was dating Rob Pattinson, the ongoing attacks against Brie Larson for being a woman and joking the MCU, and there are STILL Benedict Cumberbatch fans that vehemently believe his wife has trapped him and their children are not real. There’s a fair bit of attention being shone on the whole culture of fandoms at the moment, and it’s likely causing some people to take a step back.

I am in no way painting the entire PP fandom with the same brush as the examples above, but there is still a lot of toxicity like you said. Thankfully nothing as bad as the above examples, but sadly it only takes a few bad apples to ruin the whole bunch, and fandoms are getting tainted.

Stan culture was NEVER supposed to be a good thing. Holy shit. I can’t believe some of these people. That’s just disgusting. They need fucking help.

I can’t imagine the pure embarrassment these people endure because their fans are fucking dumpster fires. The shit that is said to them online is outrageous and some of them apparently never learned how to be a decent human being.

Everything about Sandman screams potential for dark adult 2d animation and instead we got another cgi heavy dr strang clone which itself is just an inception clone that came out 6 years too late. The only thing I find remotely impressive about this show is how they somehow managed to not only find someone that actually tricked me into thinking they already lured Rob Pattinson into another comically broody DC property so quickly, but who also does a surprisingly good James McAvoy impression- clearly to make up for the fact that they likely only greenlit this after the shittier professor x gave the audition of a lifetime on the audible original only for him to get busy with… I guess hosting a game show that’s basically big brother but instead of fun challenges and drama they… build a bridge for 20 days. Anyways.

tl;dr the Sandman tv show isn’t necessarily bad but seriously just listen to the audio drama, it didn’t drain nearly as much money or sfx artists’ sanity in the process of making it and it’s got Michael Sheen! Gaiman stan bitches love Michael Sheen!

OKAY SO, 

I’ve decided that I want to do another writing challenge for both Halloween and Christmas but I wanna involve you lovely lot. 

Halloween

Halloween will be one fic per day for 15 days [up until 31st October].

Since I’ve had no requests for this one I’ve changed the challenge

Fics will be song fics & outstanding requests will be done as and when I can get around to them

Christmas 

One headcanon/imagine per day for 25 days.

Most likely a dating would include or NSFW Alphabet
