Why Do We Love…

Charlotte Martin

Our series "Why Do We Love..." published on each muse's birthday are getting to an end, and French former model and artist Charlotte Martin is next!

We first new about Charlotte when one of us created a website called Family Zepp on piczo back in the day, remember that? We were teenagers and we loved Led Zeppelin, but unlike The Beatles, there weren't any sites for the girls or the children, so one of us started and we became familiar with the names of Maureen and Carmen Plant, Sabel Starr, Lori Mattix ... and Charlotte!

Truth to be told, we had to do a real detective job with Charlotte, because it was said that she was a 1960s supermodel, but unlike Pattie Boyd, we couldn't find anything! And, like her, she had a relationship with Eric Clapton, before having one with Jimmy Page.

We also learnt that she had a short relationship with Beatle George Harrison, but never was included anywhere as a "Beatlegirl". Little by little we found (sometimes with a little help from our friends) more and more Charlotte information and photos, including modelling pics, but in every pic she looked different, so we weren't sure if it was her or not!

[For years these were the only Charlotte pics on the net we could find, early 1970s, late 1970s and 1980s...]

Little by little we learned she was on The Beatles "All You Need is Love" video or in Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the Same" film, so we took screencaps of her, to build our collection for the Family Zepp website!

But we think most of the photos we found came after, maybe thanks to tumblr and later (recently) instagram. We found amazing blogs like Liz Eggleston/Miss Peelpants who find the greatest and rarest Charlotte pics and share them with us all. So we could see Charlotte's beauty and talent once and for all!

Robert Whittaker takes UD over Paulo Costa.

There is your fight of the night, folks. That was by far the best version of Paulo Costa we have seen since 2019. And it wasn't the swarming, put your back on the cage by any means necessary Costa. He was methodical, thoughtful, but still aggressive.

Whittaker got off to a strong start. Costa looked athletic and powerful early. Launched a couple of head kicks from both sides, revealing that was going to be a major part of the gameplan tonight. Whittaker defended well early, either blocking or getting out the way. His feint game was on point. Using the jab feint to enter into the pocket where he would either land a nice stiff jab or throw the hook around the rear hand of Costa as it came forward to parry. Costa was finding success with his own jab too but just wasn't throwing it enough. Costa throws a wheel kick with five seconds left in the 1st, it lands flush and rocks Whittaker, stealing the round for Costa.

To Whittaker's credit, he recovered between rounds and got back to work in the 2nd. The jab feints really had Costa biting hard. And they were leaving him vulnerable to the leg kicks. Costa was having success with his jab and the head kicks were really eye catching, though not really landing. He started landing leg kicks of his own though as Whittaker is very front foot heavy as he likes to spring off it to get to the pocket. The real saving grace for Whittaker is he was throwing combos. The 1-2, the 1-head kick off the rear leg, the 1-feint-3 or feinting into the 1-3. Some really great, tense action over the last two rounds.

Know what fight this kind of reminded me of - Yair vs Holloway. One guy is obviously technically better but the other guy is able to leverage his athleticism in way that makes him dangerous and gets him moments all the way through the fight. Costa was most dangerous when he could press Whittaker back with his jab but he wasn't able to keep him there along the fence.

AiO Thought of the Week

I really appreciate all of the new and resurfaced art that is being put up on the AiO website but...

In the original version of the art he's not smiling. They didn't create a new piece of art for this they just literally pasted a smile on his face. Why?

In a few of these they pasted new Whit's face over old Whit's. Like seriously why? Eugene still has the old look.

Tamika and Marvin have such baby faces now. This has bugged me since the club first started.

Mitch, Lenard, Curt and a lot of the episode art looks like it's collaged together. Side note: is Curt supposed to be like two feet tall?

I don't want to be a negative Nacy, more art is fun, but I'm just so confused why this is the route.
