Updated information on the Soul Trilogy and its connections with other games from the same universe.
Tumblr media
⚠️This little information may contain spoilers.
The Quintet Trilogy.
There are a few connections between Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma:
Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma deal with world regeneration and all three games deal with the concept of reincarnation.
Blazer and Will (in form of Shadow) have the technique of launching the spirit of the Firebird/Phoenix and apparently in Terranigma the weapons of the Hero, Ark, are shaped like a phoenix, too.
In both the Japanese and PAL versions the Soul Armor of Soul Blazer, appears in Terranigma.
In Illusion of Gaia, Will uses his powers to attract "Gems" like Blazer.
In Watermia, from Illusion of Gaia, Kara says: "Freejia was the same way, but beautiful. Things always have another side to them" in Japanese version: "As was the case with the City of Flowers, I wonder if beautiful things always have a back face." In Terranigma, when Ark reaches the sewers of Neotokio, has a similar line: "The more fancy a town, the more dirty at the back". In Japanese: "The more glittering the city is the more messy it is to look behind the scenes."
In Angkor Wat temple, which appears in Illusion of Gaia, there is a room containing crystals that strongly resemble those in the Shrine of the Master from Soul Blazer.
In Neotokio, the most advanced city in the world, Ark fights a ghost hidden in a garbage can, there by reviving the Quintet programmers, including a chicken, who are creating the game Illusion of Time 2 that is Terranigma. In the Japanese version the game, he is developing 天地創造 (Tenchi Sōzō), they were literally making Terranigma. Also, in that version, you could answer a questionnaire (Quintet Quiz) if you were an expert in the games of the company, among them Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia.
Some characters and locations seem to appear in more than one game with different names:
All three games feature a dog named Turbo: in Soul Blazer, he appears in Greenwood; in Illusion of Gaia, he's at the Diamond Coast; in Terranigma, he's Meilin's dog.
In Illusion of Gaia, "The Moon tribe" people, are in the form of a Soul Blazer enemy: Ghost.
The enemies of Illusion of Gaia, Dinapedes and Nitropedes are similar to Metapedes of Dr. Leo's Lab in Soul Blazer.
Both Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma deal with Dark and Light Gaia.
In Illusion of Gaia the secret boss is Metal Mantis, who was the first boss of Soul Blazer.
Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, and Terranigma share a painter in their story.
The "Tulip" that appears in Illusion of Gaia in the of Edward's Castle Prison, is the same as those that appear in Soul Blazer.
Terranigma has Capetown in South Africa (though it can't be visited) and Illusion of Gaia begins in South Cape.
Mu exists in Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma.
In Soul Blazer there is a place called St. Elle's Seabed, which is "Palace of St. Ells" (セントエルズの宮殿) in Japanese. Elle (エル) of Terranigma has a similar name, both in English and in Japanese.
In Terranigma, before entering Great Lakes Cavern, Ark speaks with a man named Servas, who is awaiting the return of his fiancée, Nana. When she died, she became a mermaid, which is a reference to a mermaid's dolphin in Soul Blazer, Servas, who is the reincarnation of a child who died with his father in the a shipwreck and also is mentioned on Illusion of Gaia in Larai Cliff.
Some characters and places are equivalent to the same ones from Soul Blazer:
Guardian of the Forest = Ra Tree (Terranigma)
King Magridd = King Henri (Terranigma)
Queen Magridd = Bloody Mary (Terranigma)
Magridd Castle = Sylvain Castle (Terranigma)
*Dr. Leo = Beruga (Terranigma). In Soul Blazer, Dr. Leo says, "I am not passing away, rather, I am going to sleep. When a scientist with my knowledge is needed, I will be back." In Terranigma, Beruga was alive in the ancient world before it was revived by Ark.

Connection of the Quintet classic games between Quintet Trilogy
ActRaiser and ActRaiser 2: For being the beginning of the Quintet Trilogy and their complementary games (Robotrek and The Granstream Saga), there are different references in these:
In Soul Blazer, The Master (a non-playable character this time) is represented as a serious, kind, understandable, positive, and pious deity. He forgave King Magridd and never gave up hope that Blazer would triumph against Deatholl.
In ActRaiser 2 The Master has the power to turn into the spirit of the of Firebird/Phoenix for a few moments to attack the enemy.
There is a child named Teddy in Soul Blazer, and he tries to sell the Goat's Food to Blazer. He is a reference to the boy of the same name from ActRaiser.
In the Japanese version of the ActRaier 2, "Tower of Souls" is the "Tower of Babel" (バベルの塔戦]), which appears in Illusion of Gaia.
In Angel Village, appear enemies similar to Ramskulls which are from ActRaiser.
The outside of Angkor Wat temple is very similar to ActRaiser's Marahna temple. Also, in this level, The Master uses the Earthquake and in Illusion of Gaia, Will (in Freedan's form) get the "Earthquaker."
On Illusion of Gaia, the boss on the Great Wall of China is very similar to the boss of the Kasandora's desert boss from ActRaiser.
In Terranigma, you can see two paintings: The Master of ActRaiser 2 painted by Matis and located in Mati's, which is in Loire, and the other in Britain in Sir Rich's mansion. Like some statues of one of three angels that help him in ActRaiser 2, specifically The Warrior Angel in Loire Castle.
ActRaiser and ActRaiser 2 are of the games that appears in the Quintet Quiz of Neotokio in Terranigma in the Japanese version.
In Terranigma the virus created by Beruga, "Asmodeus" is a reference of ActRaiser 2 the boss: Deception, in Japanese version: 欲望|Lust. Deception, apart from his attacks, sludge spit, fireball and bomb; he teleports to escape and uses his "Teleportation orb" to take The Master to another site on the same battlefield. Unlike "Asmodeus", that demon teleports the combatant, but doesn't erase him forever.
Although in interview of Koji Yokota by John Szczepaniak of his book The Untold History of Japanese Game Developers: Volume 1, he revealed that The Master is part of the games Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. It's believed that he is also Light Gaia and Tanzra is Dark Gaia. This is believed because of the opening of Terranigma, (both in the original and the European version) which says, "They came to be called 'God' and 'Devil'."
The damaged sound effect of Blazer is the same of the ActRaiser when The Master is damaged.
The sound effect when defeating an enemy can be heard in ActRaiser, Soul Blazer, and Illusion of Gaia.
Sound effect of the enemies attacks bullet firing can heard in ActRaiser and Soul Blazer.
Robotrek: It's a relatively comical game where we can find again themes; such as is creation and destruction, human ambition, the use of science for good and evil, the theme of immortality that is implicit in Nagisa an assistant android with the resemblance to the deceased mother of the protagonist, problems between neighbors and among others. In addition to having some elements found in the ActRaiser and Quintet Trilogy, Robotrek would be the complement of those games:
The "Blade 4", in the Japanese version is called "SoulBlade" (ソウルブレイド), which could be the replica of the legendary weapon of the hero of Soul Blazer, "Soul Blade", with the technique of launching bullets shaped Firebird/Phoenix.
There are two ways to create "Blade 4", combining "Seed" with "Blade 3". The other way is combining "Smoke" with "Scrap 8", nonetheless the first combination is a hidden reference to the Kingdom of Freil from Soul Blazer, which in Japanese is フレイル王国|Fureiru ōkoku, where フレイmeans Freyr, reference to the name of the Norse god of fertility, which comes from Old Norse name Freyr ("lord"), meaning 'fertile'. Both in form and meaning, fraiwa ("seed").
The form of Tetron (bipyramid) resembles the "Shrine of the Master" from Soul Blazer and the crystals of Angkor Wat from Illusion of Gaia.
Inside the Count Polinky's mansion you can see knight's armors similar to the enemies of Stormrook from ActRaiser 2, but without the axe and shield. However, in this stage you can learn create Axe 1 (Inventor's Friend Lv 9).
In the Clock Tower of Count Polinky's mansion where there is an enmity of some dolls with the mice of the place, this part of the game could be a reference to Soul Blazer in parody form.
On the South Isle, a native scares the main character with a joke similar to that made by the dog from GreenWood's Restaurant in Soul Blazer.
In the Japanese version, the chicken on the farm of Robotrek is called "Catherine" (カトリーヌ), which is mentioned in Terranigma by a boy watching the chicken race, also are the only Quintet Super Nintendo Entertainment System games where chickens appear and the main character can talk to them.
On Robotrek "Rococo Town" (ロココ町) is a reference of the art style that originated in Paris in the late 17th and early 18th century. In Terranigma, Ark buys for 800 Gems: "Rococo Apartment" (ロココアパート).
In the computer of the main character (Hero's house) and that of his father, mentions ActRaiser 2 and Illusion of Gaia (in the Japanese and American version).
With the CyberJack, the player can enter the computer in dad's house and meet the Development staff of Quintet. This secret is present in Actraiser 2 and Terranigma, too.
The outside of Gateau's space fortress is shaped similar to that of the Tower of Babel.
In Rococo Town, The Master is mentioned in one diary where it narrates the preparation of a wedding: "From the bottom of my heart, to the God who brought us together I can't help but get excited." ("ふたりをめぐりあわせてくれた 神様に 心の底から かんしゃせずにはいられない"), doesn't seem to refer to the God (神様) of South Isle. In addition to the fact that the main character of the game learned to create replicas of The Soul Blade. It is possible that people in another part of the universe believe in The Master from ActRaiser and ActRaiser 2, but it has not been confirmed.
Robotrek is one of the games that appears in the Quintet Quiz of Neotokio from Terranigma in the Japanese version.
In the Japanese manual of Robotrek, the story section compare technological advancement of Rococo Town to that of Japan: "The civilization of Rococo Town is a little more advanced than the present Japan."(ロココ町の文明は今の日本 より少しだけ進んでいますが). It's possible can be seen this mention of Japan in Neotokio from Terranigma.
On Terranigma, in one of the houses in Crysta there is a footboard from the one bed a generic cat's face carved in wood that is later seen again in a mini game in Liotto, however the cat face is similar to the official art of Kurogane the cat from Robotrek.
In both the Japanese and American versions, a girl's dog and her grandmother's have the name Turbo (タ ー ボ), a name given to the Turbo that appear in Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma.
In one video "Brute Press" VHS Vol.24 July 1995 (【非売品】ブルートプレス Vol.24 1995年7月号) published Terranigma Beta version. The sound effects can heard is the same of the Robotrek.
The Granstream Saga: It's not certain if the story takes place on Earth or in another planet in a distant future. In American version the story of manual tells us:"One hundred years ago, on the planet of Granstream, a great war devastated the land"; while the Japanese mention "the world" (世界) and "land" (地表) or "above ground (地上): "Going back in time, 100 years ago. The war that divides the world broke out, and humankind was on the verge of extinction. Based on different magical powers as the basis of civilization, the two opposing forces "Magical Empire Army" and "Spirit Alliance Army" do not yield to each other, and finally the empire destroys the enemy's center with forbidden super magic weapons Executed the operation. It shattered the earth's veins and caused cataclysms. The earth's axis tilted greatly and the surface of the earth was completely submerged. And all life and civilization rooted on the earth have perished".
Although in an interview Koji Yokota, identifies Terranigma and The Granstream Saga different from ActRaiser, Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia, these two games from different consoles, presented various themes related to the company's previous games, for these that suggest to be possible sequel of Terranigma. Due to the fact that the connection with the others isn't official, it could be considered as another complement to ActRaiser and Quintet Trilogy:
In the game Eon and Arcia make it a goal to raise the other continents to restore the world.
The level of Stalagmite Castle just like Dr. Leo's Painting of Soul Blazer.
A stone appears named: Star Stone.
Among Eon's weapons we find a sword called: "Arc Blazer" that increases damage to enemies that are weak against ice.And the axe of the Spirit King: "Gaia Edge."
The stained glass window of the church is very similar to the one that appears in Terranigma in Litz's church, but not the colours.
Outside of Airlim, the magic control Tower, it's similar to the form of Tower of Babel.
The background of Curio Shop, you can find a vase with two handle, just like Illusion of Gaia.
Appears the enemy "Mimic", like in Soul Blazer.
Eon use"Dried herb" and "Special herb" to heal like the herbs from Illusion of Gaia.
The original form of the Demon King Demaar (Digol) looks like the final form of Dark Gaia of Terranigma.
In The Granstream Saga, if Eon decides to sacrifice Arcia using her pure soul for defeat demon Demaar. In the end, "Deity" appears, sitting on a throne in the Palace of the Heaven, talking to her. This is possibly The Master from ActRaiser, but it has not been confirmed.

Rococo Town
Before leaving town he thought about buying provisions at the Crispy Shop, then he heard some mumbling coming from next to his house. They were those naughty children from the town who seemed to be organizing a plan.
Hero approached them:
Kid A: What do you want? I have an important meeting. Talk to me later.
Kid B: We’re planning to go on an adventure, but I’m not going to give you the details. Ha!
Kid C:We’re talking about going out to have fun. Go away!
With those comments, Hero preferred to let them continue with their plans to go out and have fun; in fact he wanted to go to his dad to show him his new robot, Redbot, but first he went to visit the store again.
Tumblr media
Crispy Shop: Tool Shop
Unlike the first time now:
Hero: Hi, sir.
Tools salesman: Dr. Akihabara’s son?
Hero: I need to buy several tools to combine. I would like to invent things with the Invention Machine.
Tools Salesman: Want to invent things? Well, it’s not than simple. Your father read books, thought a lot, and invented things. He’d talk about combination, then collect a bunch of stuff and make something.
There’s sure junk in the back. Do you want it?
Hero: Sure, I’ll take it!!
Tools Salesman: Go in the back. There’s two capsules there. Take them both.
*Hero went in search of the two scraps that are inside some capsules.
On the way to dad's house:
Father’s House
Hero left the town and walked through the suburbs until he reached his father's house.
Tumblr media
Hero: My father and I really like nature! I'll see if the little bird from last time laid an egg in the nest.
In effect checking the nest to find a small egg.
Tumblr media
Hero entered his father's house and saw one of those guys who were chased by the police, when he and his father were moving to Rococo Town; having a talk with his father:
Soldier: How about it, Doctor? A good salary, benefits, and health insurance!
Akihabara: It never changes! You Hackers area all a like. What an evil bunch!!
Soldier: That’s what you say, but evil is good. Evil is the job.
For our future we need great inventors whit your kind of power!
Akihabara: Hmmm...I appreciate your interest, but I can’t use my inventions for evil.
I’ll show you my latest invention. Want to know it is?
Soldier:...Oh, a trumpet? I remember...In high school. In was in the band.
Akihabara: It’s not just a trumpet, you use it like this.
Soldier: Waa-a-a-a-a-a-h!!
At the same time that the bad guy was running away from the house, the cat, Kurogane was running scared towards the next room.
The fleeing bad guy was so scared that he pushed Hero who ended up at the entrance to the door, so he could escape. Hero, with his backpack half open, walked towards his father and worriedly said:
Hero: Dad? Who was that guy? Dad?!...
Dr. Akihabara, thinking that his son had managed to build a robot and seeing a capsule in his backpack, forgot for a few moments what had happened to the soldier:
Akihabara: Oh, Hero. Wow! A robot! You must use it, too. If you can configure the robot’s Status and Skill with the Invention Machine, you can make the robot stronger.
Hero, realizing that his father was distracted by the robot, asked him again:
Hero:Dad...Who was that guy? I heard that he proposed that you work for evil.
Akihabara: What? Him? He’s been around lately. A Hacker Soldier. He’s spying. Inventions have a meaning if they’re useful. Using them for evil is out of the question. You can have this. A Surprise Horn. It’s really loud. It will be useful.
 Hero received the Surprise Horn!
While receiving the item, Hero thought:
“So those well-covered guys are the Hackers...Interesting.”
Later, he remembered that the Hacker Soldier was scared by that invention, so he thanked his dad:
Hero: Thank you dad! Your invention sounds like an explosion. Is incredible...It even woke me up, today.
His father laughed and then was proud of his son who he saw was striving to be an inventor like him, said:
Akihabara: While you’re here. Would you like me to tell you about my inventions?
Hero: Please!
What Subject?
Akihabara: Inventions-
To invent, Inspiration is need. There are many Kinds. First, Reading.
You have seen the Invention’s Friends books haven’t you?
You should read them. Some of them may be hard for you to understand but eventually you’ll be able to.
And, listen to other people.
Check out everything. That’s the first step. In order to buy Material, you need GP. Don’t forget. Inventions aren’t free.
What to hear more?
Hero: Yes, teach me.
Akihabara: What subject?
Akihabara: Combinations-
If you combine 2 of your own items with a Robot’s equipment, it’s called Combination.
Especially Scraps can make lots of things the combination doesn’t need GP. Experiment.
If you combine new and used weapons, the new weapon will have more power.
Hero: Understood.
What to hear more?
Hero: Yes, teach me.
Akihabara: What subject?
Akihabara: Robots-
Robots-Once created, are very reliable.
Robots-The Invention Machine creates up to 3.
Robots-Once they’re created you can power them up.
Robots-Weapons and other equipment are made by combining. With the Machine’s Program Changing the Special Attack Program is possible.
Robots-When HP is low, Repair will heal them. Whit the Invention Machine, Maintenance can be done. You can change robots in battle Hero by using command.
Hero: Okay dad.
Akihabara: What to hear more?
Hero: Nothing.
Akihabara: No, no more.......Ok. No, that’s all right...
Hero:Don't worry dad. I'll soon understand those books After all, you know that I really like to read. I will listen to people's concerns to inspire me, build inventions to help them and about the cost of the inventions...Max and Ralph from the Invention Machine told me.
His father confirms what he thought, that he will be a good inventor like him and smiled at him.
After talking to his father he went to Development Room Invention Machine to programmer Skills his robot.
Hero: Skill. The special move is a combination of the R button, L button, and X button...I try whit RRR. Name: Triattack.
Concluding he left the Development Room, walking out, he noticed Kurogane in front of his father's bed. He looked like he wanted to show something. He approached to know that he wanted to show him his cat.
Hero:  What do you want to show me, Kurogane?
Tumblr media
Approaching, he saw a book between the sheets of the bed. Even though it was one of inventions, he took it and began to read it. To his surprise, *Hero found a Diary on the bed! The Diary looks old.
Kurogane: Huhhh...
At his cat's insistence, he continued reading it:
“*Month, *Day”.
“The Android, Nagisa, is finished. No one can tell she’s an Android. Nagisa looks like my late wife when she was young. As if she’s come back. I’m a little embarrassed. Little Hero if he thinks of her as his mother, it will be a success.”
Hero put the Diary back where he found it. Then:
Hero trying not to speak loudly:
Hero: Nagisa! My assistant...She's an android and my mom! I can't believe that!! Now I understand why the similarity. *I thought she would be like a older sister, but I was wrong. No, no, no, no...My father built an android based on mom!
Kurogane? So that's what you wanted me to know.
Kurogane replied:
Kurogane:Meow.
Holding back tears, to remember his mother. He caressed his cat and said:
Hero: You must be a very smart cat.Thank you.
Kurogane replied, again:
Kurogane:Meow.
After congratulating his cat, he went to the living room, saw his father and walked quickly towards the exit door. His father found out and told him:
Akihabara: Since we’re close, let’s visit your ancestor's graves.
Hero with a smile replied: “Sure Dad”.He still couldn't get over the fact that Nagisa is really his mother.
Leaving the house, before he could continue moving towards the grave of his ancestors to tell their what had happened, he heard the voice of that Hacker who was trying to make some kind of deal with his father or rather trick him into working for evil.
Tumblr media
Soldier:Hey, kid, wait!
Hero stopped, Hacker continued:
*Soldier: Hey, kid. Are you the son of Dr. Akihabara? Come with me. The Hacker boss said to take you as a hostage if the Doctor doesn’t cooperate. Gruntt!!
The First Battle.
Tumblr media
The first battle of Redbot and Hero began.
Hero:There's no way. I wont go with you!...Redbot, It's time for you to take action.
Hero got out Redbot to get rid of a Hacker:
Hero:Go!
He ordered his robot to use its arm cannon and fire a projectile and scare the Hacker away.
After the battle, the boy and the robot were calm at having gotten rid of that "evil guy."
Hero: Good job Redbot, there will be the opportunity to test your new skill, now you must return to the capsule. See you later pal.
Redbot :See you later Master...Hero.
Hero doing facepalm when he heard his robot pal call him master again and while he put it in the capsule he said:
"There are 2 more robots missing...I'm sure they will also call me master... I would like you to call me my name, no Master."
The recovering Hacker opined: "Well, I think it's okay to be called you Master. Well, that's my opinion.”
Hero told him: "Hmm...well. I prefer to be called by my name."
In a few moments the kid and the Hacker remembered what had happened before, therefore:
Soldier: Oh great! Beaten by a kid! What will I tell the guys?  I’ll never live this down?
Hero scared, forgot to visit his ancestors and went to his father to tell him.
Tumblr media
Hero:Dad!
Akihabara: What’s the matter Hero?...
Hero:A Hacker Soldier tried to take me hostage so that you would resign and work for them.
Akihabara: What?...A Hacker Soldier?...He was?
Hero: Yes, dad and with the help of Redbot, I was able to save myself.
Akihabara: I’m glad you’re safe. Nagisa worries when you’re late. Return to Rococo.
Hero:Nagisa? Of course, dad, I'll return to Rococo.
Tumblr media
Ancestors' tomb.
Leaving the house, Hero remembered what his dad had told him, about visiting his ancestors, so he headed towards where they always were.
Towards his right, passing some trees, he approached where his ancestors' tomb is.
On the stone
Akihabara Family Tomb is carved.
Hero tells the stone all that's happened.
Kneeling and closing his eyes he told them:
Hero: Great-great-grandfathers*...I was able to build a robot with one of the invention machines that you helped develop, but one of those Hackers tried to my dad, your descendant, Dr. Akihabara to work for evil. He didn't accept and the same Hacker tried to take me as hostage so my dad would give up and accept. With the help of my robot you can free me from this bad guy...I hope the robots that I can build can help our people save themselves from those bad guys.
About Nagisa…She's technically my mom, like a her robotic reincarnation and now I'm going to visit her, but I won't tell her that I already know. I'll tell you more later. Bye.
Hero got up and headed to Rococo Town to see Nagisa.
*In Japanese: Hero found a diary in the bed! The diary seems to be from a long time ago. “The android "Nagisa" is almost indistinguishable from a fully developed human. ``Nagisa'' was made to resemble my late wife when she was younger, so I’m a little nervous, as if my wife has returned. If Hero, who is still young, thinks Nagisa like a mother, I think this invention is a success."
Hero gently returned the diary to its original location...
*Inspired by the official Quintet Quiz from Terranigma, there’s the question of true or false:
“In Slapstick, Nagisa, who lets you save the game, is the protagonist's older sister.” False.
*In Japanese: "Hey boy, you're Dr. Akihabara's child, right? Will you come with me?" If the doctor doesn't cooperate A great hacker told me to take you hostage Don't think badly about it! ”
*Logically, in the tomb they should say the name of their ancestors, that's why the "..." and to avoid spoilers in this guide.

Roboss
I release a new tabletop rpg every week, and the past couple weeks have been fairly short games.
So here's a 78 pager.
Roboss is a robot fight sport ttrpg set on an impoverished scifi colony world.
It uses flexible but granular rules for robot building, and it encourages players to experiment, try new builds, manage resources, and lean into the spectacle.
It is inspired by works like Robotrek, Real Steel, and Pokemon XD: Gale Of Darkness.
Also I made it on a $0 budget so please enjoy the public domain machine illustrations from the 1800s.

About one of my newest projects
Title: Jonas Corbin’s Guide to Life
Jonas Corbin’s sophomore year of high school is getting off to a good start - he’s been assigned the locker next to his childhood friend and long-time crush Kiera Bernhardt in the same year that Kiera’s rather intimidating older brother has gone off to college, giving him the perfect opportunity to confess his feelings. However, will he be able to talk to Kiera without choking? And why is their mutual friend Chloe suddenly being so harsh towards him? Tells the story of Jonas’ sophomore, junior, and senior years at Foxwood High School in New Hampshire.
Other things:
Lots of esoteric references, mostly to anime and JRPGs.
Some degree of fourth-wall awareness, but not to ridiculous levels.
Teen characters are treated with respect.
Despite being named after a specific character, has an ensemble cast. Jonas is the narrator, though.
Everyone is ****ed-up to some degree, just like in real life.
At the same time, no one is purely good or bad. Again, just like in real life.
Some supernatural elements, although most, if not all, of them would be Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane.
Musical numbers, not necessarily in every episode, but a decent number.
Starts out fairly lighthearted and gradually becomes darker throughout, possibly even with some deaths, but never loses its humorous side and ends on a hopeful note.
No one is beyond redemption, but not everyone accepts it.
————————————————————————————————————————————
TV TROPES THAT APPLY TO THE SETTING AND CHARACTERS
Jonas Corbin:
Brilliant, but Lazy
Captain Oblivious: Oblivious to both Chloe's and Mia's feelings for him. However, it's slightly implied that he may be faking it to avoid breaking the heart of one of his best friends or his other best friend's little sister.
Character Narrator
Childhood Friend Romance: With Kiera - they've known each other since they were kids, and he's had romantic feelings for her since they were in seventh grade.
Clueless Chick Magnet: Especially in the later seasons.
Deadpan Snarker
Determinator: Despite his lazy tendencies, he can be surprisingly persistent if there’s something he really wants.
First-Person Smartass
Friendly Enemy: He has this kind of relationship with Principal Mazlish.
Fun Size: The shortest boy in the core six, and a pretty fun guy.
Guile Hero
Hidden Depths: He's a gifted writer, and is implied to become a professional novelist in the future.
High School Hustler
Inferiority Superiority Complex: His Small Name, Big Ego tendencies are implied to be a way of coping with his insecurities.
Jerk with a Heart of Gold
Kindhearted Cat Lover: He may not be especially kindhearted, but he does dote on his cat Leo.
Not a Morning Person
Obfuscating Stupidity

Production Nickname: The Bernhardt siblings each have one. Kiera is "The Brocon Lacrosse Girl," due to her brother complex and passion for lacrosse, and Adrian is "The Anti-Fraggle" because he's tall, grim, and hates radishes, unlike the small, jolly, radish-loving Fraggles.
Red Oni, Blue Oni: Jared and Nick Murphy, respectively, with Mark Seaver as their Purple Oni.
Mark is also the Blue Oni to his sister Chloe's Red Oni, and the Red Oni to his best friend Connor's Blue Oni.
Logan is the Red Oni to most people, but the Blue Oni to his Genki Girl sister Saige.
Riddle for the Ages: How did someone as childish and irresponsible as Donna get primary custody of her son?
Why does Thom insist on spelling his name with a silent H?
Rivalry as Courtship: Chloe and Mia start out as athletic and romantic rivals, but eventually resolve it and become a couple.
Secret Diary: Connor has one which he keeps hidden in his dresser. However, it's later revealed to be not so secret to Morgan.
Shout-Out: A long-haired, drug-addicted alt guy named Connor, who has a bad reputation, a strained relationship with his sister, and a penchant for black nail polish… sound familiar?
Adrian's car has a "My Other Car Is A Gundam" frame around its license plate.
Because she doesn’t like the name Dandelion, Lauren secretly calls her family’s pet Pomeranian “Toby”.
Word of God has stated that Nate's Character Tic of tying his hair back when he's thinking is a reference to Violet's similar tic in A Series of Unfortunate Events.
Jessica Beaumont and Ashley Cournane are both named after fictional cheerleaders - Jessica Wakefield and Ashley Hammond, respectively.
Sickeningly Sweethearts: Michael Levy and Marissa Anderson.
Six-Student Clique:
The Head: Jonas Corbin
The Muscle: Brad Thompson
The Quirk: Nate Kellerman
The Pretty One: Alicia Ramsey
The Smart One: Kiera Bernhardt
The Wild One: Chloe Seaver
Slice of Life
Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism: Falls somewhere in the middle, leaning slightly toward idealism.
The Glorious War of Sisterly Rivalry: Between Nina Chapman (The Smart One) and her older sister Zoe (The Popular One).
Theme Naming: The Urquhart siblings both have Celtic names that can be used as first or last names.
Those Two Guys: Josh Reilly and Robbie Wolfe.
¡Three Amigos!: Jonas, Brad, and Chloe, although somewhat disrupted by Chloe’s attraction to Jonas.
Town Girls: Chloe (butch), Kiera (neither), and Alicia (femme).
True Companions: The core six.
Vitriolic Best Buds: Jonas and Brad, and Kiera and Chloe to a lesser extent.
Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Donna and Jonas form a rare mixed-gender example.
White-and-Grey Morality: Jonas' relationship with Principal Mazlish applies, with the former being straight-up chaotic good and the latter being, at worst, lawful neutral.
World of Snark
Some tropes I want to include:
A Day in the Limelight
Amateur Film-Making Plot
“Anger Is Healthy” Aesop
Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other
Both Sides Have a Point
Brick Joke
Call-Back
Chain of Deals
Continuity Porn
Couch Gag
Did They or Didn't They?
Dumbass Has a Point / Jerkass Has a Point
Enemy Mine
Enmity with an Object
Evolving Credits
Fade to White: How the series ends, signifying Jonas' "ascent" into the world after high school.
Fair Play Whodunit: Maybe a spotlight episode for Josh and Robbie.
Ferris Wheel Date Moment: At first I wasn't sure this would work with Kiera's fear of heights, but I found out from the trope page that it's actually common for the girl to be acrophobic, so… ^_^
Flippant Forgiveness
Friendly Enemy / Reformed, but Not Tamed: This would eventually apply to the Murphy brothers.
Funny Background Event
Hard Truth Aesop: Abusive parents are still complex humans like everyone else.
Intergenerational Friendship
Joke and Receive
Leitmotif
Magic Realism
Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane
Mundane Made Awesome
Musical Episode: Also A Day in the Limelight episode for Mark and Connor, in which they form a band with Jared (lead guitar), Morgan (vocals), Alicia (keyboard), and maybe Christi (rhythm guitar).
Not So Above It All
Out-of-Character Alert
Parents as People
"Rashomon"-Style
RPG Episode
Saved by the Awesome
Shown Their Work
Something Only They Would Say
Spoof Aesop
Stealth Pun
Strange Minds Think Alike
Stylistic Suck
The Greatest Story Never Told
Thinks of Something Smart, Says Something Stupid
Unusual Euphemism
Vignette Episode
"What Do They Fear?" Episode: For Brad's arachnophobia, Kiera's acrophobia, Mark's claustrophobia, Connor's gephyrophobia, and/or Morgan's coulrophobia.
What You Are in the Dark
“Where Are They Now?” Epilogue
Whole Plot Reference
You All Share My Story
Tropes to avert:
A Weighty Aesop: And in the unlikely event that I were to do an episode with one, it would emphasize moderation rather than abstinence.
Anvilicious: Any and all morals should be as subtle as the B in the word "subtle," except for spoof morals.
Character Shilling
Diet Episode: See A Weighty Aesop, above.
Girls vs. Boys Plot
Hate Sink
Kids Shouldn’t Watch Horror Films
Limited Wardrobe
New Technology Is Evil
Pair the Spares
Real Men Have Short Hair: As a direct Take That! aimed at this trope, Jonas' hair gets slightly longer with each season as he matures, although the two factors are otherwise unrelated, and it's never mentioned in-universe.
Shipper on Deck
Social Media Is Bad
Strangled by the Red String
Teens Are Monsters
The Friend Nobody Likes
Where the Hell Is Springfield?: Foxwood is located somewhere in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire.

The reasons why the main character of Robotrek could be the reincarnation of Dr. Leo from Soul Blazer.⚪
⚠️This writing contains spoilers of *Soul Blazer and *Robotrek.
Tumblr media
「いつか、私のような発明家が必要になった時、再びこの世に生まれてくることだろう」
"Someday, when the world needs an inventor like me, I will be born again."
Dr. Leo in the Japanese version.
The theory is based that although the genius inventor, Dr. Leo thought of returning to this world, it is likely that The Master (God in the Japanese version), would allow him to reincarnate in another world and without remembering his past, since being on Earth, it is possible that the same thing would happen to him again. Then, to help him, the Master would give him the joy of being reborn on a planet called Quintenix (*Gokuraku), as a new opportunity to live again as a human and with the dream of becoming a good inventor, yes we are referring to the protagonist of Robotrek.
Let's remember a fragment of what he said before leaving in the Japanese version:
「私は生まれてくる時代を間違えたのだと思う。 発明家は様々な機械を作り出し、人々を幸せにする。 だが、時代に合わない天才の出現は逆に文明を衰退させてしまうのだ。 人は何もそんなに焦って幸せになることはない」。
"I think I was born in the wrong era. Inventors create various machines and make people happy. However, the emergence of geniuses who do not adapt to the era actually causes the decline of civilization. People do not become happy being in such a hurry. I hope everyone can find happiness little by little."
About Robotrek, one of the important premises of the game is that the player takes the role of an apprentice inventor and helps others with inventions.
Tumblr media
Now, the reasons listed:
■That child's dream is to be a good inventor like his father.
■He is an inventor's apprentice, so he starts from scratch.
■He has an inventor father, as Lisa, Dr. Leo's daughter.
■Absence of his mother, like Lisa, however, changes because his father built an android named Nagisa who, apart from being his son's assistant, secretly takes on the role of mother.
■He lived at his father's house who is an inventor. At the beginning of the game he moves to another house that will be his new home, because he wants to be independent and study about inventions, which his father agrees would try not to involve him with the "evil" organization called Hackers.
■The same thing almost happened to him as Lisa regarding the Hackers who wanted her father to work for said "evil" organization.
■He likes animals and with an invention of his father’s colleague, who learned to create, he talks with them. In general, he appreciate nature, in fact he donated a seed for a little girl to make bloom in Rococo Town.
■He met two dogs named Turbo.
■He was in contact with the replicas of the Soul Blade. Mentioned by Robot K as the Legendary Blade.
■Explodes in three scenes of the game, but without any damage, including in the opening. In the game he is saved from exploding with the help of the Tetron and later by Kotetsu; although in the present, his father found him in the rubble of the destroyed Hackers air base.
■Some Hacker combatant understood his situation.
■When you talk to the Mayor again, after Rose's betrayal, he says in the Japanese version: "Women totally confuse men. It is a terrifying creature. You should remember that well too."
It might sound sexist, but no, he is referring to his secretary Rose, potentially making the player remember the evil Queen Magridd.
This concludes the reasons why it is; Now I would like you to comment about post and if you have more reasons for that kid could be new life of Dr. Leo, I would like you to write, share them in the comments.
Note: Of course Dr. Leo is an allegory of the Renaissance genius Leonardo Da Vinci or rather the version of the same in the Quintet universe, but that would be a topic for a future post.
✨Special thanks to @kahran042 for the idea that the protagonist of Robotrek could be the reincarnation of Dr. Leo.✨

ActRaiser | SNES LongPlay [001]
In late 1991, Enix was already an established brand in the US with their Dragon Warrior titles, but it was arguably their relationship with Quintet that first cemented their legacy in the west. ActRaiser was the development studio's first game, and it was a good indication as to what we could expect from them in the 16-bit era. SoulBlazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, and RoboTrek were all amazing games, and ActRaiser served as their foundation.

Hero’s House:
Development room: Inventor Machine
Hero followed Nagisa until they reached some stairs that led to a room below. When he arrived, he saw Nagisa waiting for him to explain about the machine that was in front of his eyes: Inventor Machine.
The boy was happy to finally use this machine, thought: "Finally, I will be able to use that machine!"
Nagisa, who was waiting for him, began to explain what it was about:
Nagisa: This is an Invention Machine. Inventors use it to invent things. Reading and the like speaking with people will give you ideas. Combining items will also work. So your Robotscan be made, maintained and power up. Are also possible. First Hero, create a robot.

*Ralf and Max
Ralf: Oh! a stranger. Never used this machine before eh?
Chose a task from the commands at the top of the screen.
Hero: I'm new to this, but it's not the first time I've used this machine... I actually tried to use it and caused a explosion a week ago.
What the boy said was true. A week ago he tried to use his father's and caused an explosion. Dr. Akihabara, concerned that something had happened to him, ran to help his son. When he saw that his son was not harmed, he hugged him, he remembered to scold him for the disaster he caused, at the same time he told him that he was afraid something had happened to him:
“Hero, don't do that again. You still can't invent by yourself, you need my help.”
 Hero told him:
"Dad, I want to build inventions to help others, by myself...My dream is to be  a good inventor, like you."
At the moment Dr. Akihabara understood that his son wanted to grow up soon, so he surprised him by letting him live in a house in a nearby town. Hero was happy and hugged him saying "Thank you dad." A day later they traveled together to Rococo Town, however the arrival of the Hackers made things complicated.
After this flashback...
Hero: I don't remember seeing them.
Max: Me neither.
Ralf:  Although I do remember that the machine was destroyed, not in its entirety, but...I don't remember why we weren't there when that happened.
Max: I think we are at the break time.
Ralf: Yeah, you're right.
Hero: Break time?
Then Hero realized that they weren’t simple software’s characters, but some beings that lived in the Inventor Machine. With this he thought that they would be gnomes or elves.
Hero: So, you are not computerized beings. How come they live in the Inventor Machines?
Ralf: I'll tell you that the inventor Akihabara asked us to help his son. Are you the Dr. Akihabara’s son?
Hero: Yes.
Ralf: Good.
Hero: That's fine, but what are they really?
Ralf: We are unidentifiable beings.
*Max: We are not so unidentifiable. It could say that we are descendants of gnomes. I think we are assistants gnomes?
Hero: ¿Gnomes?
Max:Yes, gnomes who learned about human beings....
Hero: Really?
Max nodding head, is stopped by Ralf who nudges him so that he doesn’t continue saying that they are.
Before Hero could ask about their lives, Max stated: “Don’t worry, now our lives are longer than of our ancestors.
Ralf is putting one's hand up against the face (doing failpalm).
Hero: I’m glad for that. Wheew!
Max: Also we have a little magic. We can travel from one place to another without any problem. If you wish, we can transport ourselves in your backpack so that you can use the portable Invention Machine.
Hero: Yes, please!
Tumblr media
Ralf: We can make inventions, combine, recycle and maintain your robot, but you won't be able to build remaining two robot, only on non-portable Inventor Machines. For that, you must make an effort to gain experience and thus level up. Only then will we appear to help you, of course it will not be free, you will have to pay a certain amount of GP.
Hero: Okay.
Max: Yes, it was learned from the human beings. Ha Ha Ha Ha!
Hero was speechless:
Hero:...
Max: Come on!
Ralf: Well, how can we help you?
Hero: On building a robot, please.
Max: To make robot, 2000 GP.
Hero chose the option of “Make.”
Both Ralf and Max said: “Let’s get to work!!”
Tumblr media
Hero saw how little  assistants left the chamber where the robot or finished inventions would come out. After a bowing greeting they began to build the robot. Initially Ralf and Max operated two levers, and then Ralf connected a large cable to the power socket to turn on the entire machine or rather the contraption to make robots, all this while Hero pressed buttons on the panel.
The next thing was to prepare the parts of the robot, then Hero welded each part with a blowtorch and protective mask, together with Max who provided battery to these parts with an electromagnetic bar, then Ralf hit them with his hammer to forge. Hero, Ralf and Max waited for the final product to come out.
Tumblr media
A red robot came out.
*Ralf and Max in Japanese namedトンテンとカンテン|Tonten to kanten
*It’s not canon that Ralf and Max are descendants of the gnomes from Mountain of Souls from Soul Blazer, but it’s curious that these strange characters have some magic and with the Inventor Machine they can help to make replicas of the Soul Blade (ソウルブレード) with the name Blade 4, in Japanese SoulBlade (ソウルブレド) with the ability to launch bullets in the shape of a fire bird.
