Just to clear something: Rockmond didn't lose his lawsuit, he lost one of his claims, he still has others pending. And like you said, it wasn't a decision only by 9-1-1, it's other Disney shows as well, such as Grey's Anatomy. The timing is funny, but that's it.

I have seen the "lost the lawsuit" bit floating around (and it didn't occur to me in the moment to straighten that out with my nonnie), so thanks for giving me a reason to now: Disney and 20th Television no longer face a disparate impact claim in a lawsuit brought by actor Rockmond Dunbar. 

A federal judge ruled that Dunbar’s dismissal from the drama series for refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine can’t claim disparate impact because no other members of his Universal Wisdom church have been affected by the reason for his job loss. He had claimed a religious exemption, saying the firms discriminated against church members. 

Disney and 20th still face 10 other claims that include racial and religious discrimination, breach of contract, and retaliation.

honestly you’re better than me cause i still don’t like eddie bc of ryan, and with carla…well i never really cared for her tbh, but with rockmond/michael i guess bc to me compared with the other two it isn’t AS bad, plus that man can act so that helps a little, but yeah i get not liking a character bc of the problematic people who play them

Oh anon, don't worry.

There is no such a thing as being better or not. This is just how I did it. No one should feel less or more for their opinion regarding how they deal with actors having problematic actions.

Some people can forgive, some people can't, some can separate the character from the actor playing them, some can't and that is fine. I do see a lot of discussion over how they feel or should feel about characters vs the actors in different platforms and it's just... it goes from each one, it depends.

For me It took me a while to appreciate Eddie as a character again, and that is just me. The same probably won't happen with Carla, since I doubt I can ever look at the character the same way again as now all I can see when I look at her is Cocoa harmful comments.

With Rockmond... Personally, it was equally upsetting given the context. In the pandemic they shortened the season 4, and Peter and Angela had asked for less screentime since then... With that in mind Rockmond scenes usually were centered in the Grant-Nash circle... If it wasn't enough to put colleagues at risk (who were taking precautions to protect themselves since the beginning) due his refuse to follow the vaccination mandate to work, Rockmond's actions had consequences for the show as it lead to the writers cutting the only black gay couple rep of the show since there was no point in going deeper with David's character if Michael wasn't on the picture... and even after a whole episode done for his leave (with an open door for a comeback), he did cut that path by himself with a lawsuit.

I mean that was a way to leave... and honestly till this day I wonder how was the vibe on the set when they did record Michael getting vaccinated, because looking at it even feels like an indirect call out?

This last part is just an speculation of me, but yeah... I think it was a lot to process.

Anyway I talked too much, I just wanted to say the way you feel about a character vs actor, differs from other people, be by circumstance, mentality and beliefs. You shouldn't feel worried about it, it's normal, and fine
