I have a senior in high school on my hands, living in my house, hands in my pockets, future heavy on my brain... I know once work and school starts back with me, time will become tight. We're getting in front of my schedule and visiting schools of interest for fall of 2020 to meet application/scholarship deadlines in the next couple of months. Her objective: liberal arts: theatre (performance). My objective: HBCU (because where else should a black person learn and find themselves in the arts?) and at least 4 hours away from home. First stop was Alcorn State University. She loved the campus and I was able to share some of the local history with her. The abandoned town of Rodney, Windsor Ruins and Natchez Trace. The full circle moment was when I shared my book, "Mississippi Window Cracks" is about my first visit to this area in the early 2000's.
