Hi, I think you’re referring to this post - that story is by @onyichii i. I don’t make comics currently. I just read a lot and illustrate on the side. You’re in luck I’ve been wanting to make a post about black & brown FL in webcomics. I’m always on the hunt for more webcomics with black leads! These stories can be found on Webtoon ( I know there are stories on tapas - I just don’t like their coin/ink system at all so I very rarely visit). Romance manhwas/webtoons I highly recommend!!!

Look! You guys must know, by this time, I am a romance connoisseur! *ahem* self-proclaimed*ahem* Romance is my fav genre and I'm not ashamed to say that aloud!! Since valentines day is coming and I'm still single, I simply fill the empty space in my heart with these cute manhwas/webtoons!!! I love reading them so much! But there are some really good romance manhwas that really give me hope about love. These are my recommendations, the ones I really enjoyed.

Daytime star

This manhwa is one of my most fav!! If you haven't heard of it, or read it...GO READ THIS RIGHT NOW!!....or whenever you have time, BUT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MANHWA! It's not just about its beautiful art style, but the story is AMAZING! If you're like me, who loves mature adult romance (and by 'mature adult romance' I don't mean a story like 50 shades of grey, but a more natural realistic romance between two fully grown adults) then this is the manhwa for you! I swear! I was binge-reading this manhwa the whole day, while eating, while playing games, while sleeping I was dreaming about this manhwa. The story is about a struggling actress falling in love with a very popular actor. It sounds simple, but it's really really REALLY GOOD! It's worth your time! There's nothing bad I have to say about this manhwa. It's truly outstanding.

Marry my husband

What? You want a revenge drama with the female lead in her comeback era? I recommend Marry my husband. I saw the Kdrama adapted from this manhwa and although the actors are really good....the story changes drastically towards the end. The Kdrama has so many....'Kdrama' elements which I'm not really a fan of and it just makes the story unnecessarily complicated for no reason. So I highly recommend you read the manhwa version. The manhwa version is more straightforward and simple compared to the kdrama and doesn't have any unnecessary drama to waste your time. All the characters are so good. Even the side characters have stories. I love how simple the story is and how satisfying it is. I'm sure you will enjoy the manhwa and fall in love the characters. Again, highly recommend this. This is the 2nd manhwa that I binged the whole day, and re-read it again yesterday. It's really good!

A Marriage of Convenience

I'll be honest, I was ignoring this manhwa for god knows why? Looking at the art, it just gave Under the Oak tree vibes.....and I'll be honest again, I got bored of under the oak tree. Everyone seems to love it, but I just got bored after 20 chaps or so. But this one, I finally decided to read it and again! I JUST CANNOT STOP READING IT!! I wonder why I'm so in love with it...it's because the female lead is so cool! I LOVE THE FEMALE LEAD IN THIS MANHWA!!! and you will know why once you read it. I feel like the female lead really carries the story on her back. Its so beautiful to see her growing and then comparing her present self to how she used to be in beginning of the story. Hey! I'm telling you! Go read it!! *points my gun*

I Thought It's A Common Possession (Ongoing!)

Isekai villainess manhwas are the trend guys! I wonder when is cybird going to release their own ver. of isekai villainess game? Well...I have not seen many people talking about this manhwa, so I wanna shed some light. It's a slow-burn but a really good one! At the first chap, you'd hate the male lead....but at the end of the latest chap, you guys will surely love the male lead. You'll think that the story is just a simple villainess manhwa were everyone hates the villainess but soon end up liking her...but no, it's much darker. You'll find out when you read it. Also the female lead...is a mommy!!! She gives me mommy vibes!! She's so beautiful!!

For My Lost Love (Ongoing!)

Another isekai manhwa that I'm obsessed with because the male lead is too hot for my own good! I think the reason I love this manhwa is because 1. it's a slow burn 2. the male lead is so good-looking 3. The relationship developing between the male lead and the female lead is really cute! It's like you can't help but want to see these two together! Right now, the male lead is completely in love with the female lead and its' so cute to see him being possessive about her and the female lead is completely oblivious. The female lead really loves the male lead because he is her fav character of her fav novel. It's cute! I love the female lead's personality, showing heart-eyes and blushing when the male lead does something....even the smallest things like drinking his coffee or arranging flowers. It's really cute!

Remarried Empress (First 80 - 90)

This story is really popular. There is a manhwa and a game....Phew~ Another one of those that I couldn't stop reading......BUT!! As much as I love the story and it's main characters...I feel like this manhwa is better if you only read it up to...90 chapters and from there, just read the spoilers. I'll be honest, the first 80 to 90 chapters of this manhwa are FUCKING AWESOME!!!! IT'S DRAMA AFTER DRAMA AFTER DRAMA! ABUSE! VERBAL ABUSE! EMOTIONAL ABUSE! It's bad but it's also good. The abuse is just too much to handle that you can't stop reading it because you want the female lead to be happy...and in the end she gets it. I highly recommend reading 90 chapters of the manhwa and then read the spoilers because the manhwa gets very sluggish. I bet you, because you will be only invested in the 4 main characters of this story and you won't care about anyone else. The first 90 chapters mainly focuses on these 4 characters and after that the story focuses more on other side characters until it connects back to the main 4 characters. This part is a drag.....so don't waste time and read the spoilers.

The Villainess Turn The Hourglass

Ah....This manhwa....truly one of the best villainess manhwa I've ever read!! I won't say anything! This is truly a 'VILLAINESS ROMANCE' manhwa and again...a story about a woman in her comeback era. Read only the main story though, I don't really care about the spin-off. The main story is truly satisfying. Read it! READ IT RIGHT NOW!! *Points my gun*

I'll keep sharing more manhwas and webtoons with you guys because I'm never gonna stop reading it! Even on my death bed, I'll still be reading it!!

I’ve been wanting to talk about the WebToon “My In-Laws are Obsessed with Me” and why it’s one of my absolute favorite stories just about ever, but haven’t had enough mental presence to go into it all.

(Warning: Romance comic, but amazing slow burn marriage of convenience between two traumatized individuals that is done exceptionally well, and even though you want both sides to spit stuff out you completely empathize with why they’re being respectful and/or still not in a position to recognize they’re falling in love)

But the most recent free episode!!!

🤩🤩🤩

It’s just a small thing, and I can’t even discuss it beyond broad strokes because it involves just about every single spoiler for the metaplot.

But! But!!!!

One thing I love the most about this series is that everyone in it is intelligent.

And not the “good at math smarty smart” kind.

This is not a series where the main character has to do everything because people are chained to their idiot balls.

I’ll say there is a curse involved, and the MC initially is like “Ok, time to do some research on this mystery!”

And then is introduced to the members of the afflicted family who have dedicated their lives to that single thing, becoming doctors in order to treat and research the curse, and the MC is just “Oh, right, they’d have already tried.”

There’s been a theory in the back of my head, never actually mentioned aloud in the series but pretty obvious (in the best way!) given the mechanics of the curse and a recent evolution of it.

In this episode, the female MC hesitantly goes up to her “marriage of convenience” husband and merely suggests this particular theory as he is the one in a position to ask questions…

Well, “suggests,” she brings up the relevant antagonist…

And he calmly goes over all the research he has already done into the matter, evidence for and against, pointing out the things she’s previously brought up that lead him to suspect things and it’s just…

They’re so smart!! They’re so proactive!!!!

The only thing that’s kept me from gushing earlier is a recent revelation that a major character has suffered sexual trauma in the past.

So please, if respectful depictions of “someone was drugged and put into a traumatizing situation in order to try and force them into marriage” is something you can’t deal with, please know this WebToon is respectful about it but it is a huge part of a character’s backstory and, sadly, the current plot.

If you can handle that, though???

This WebToon is a must read.

Even if you’re not into slow burn romances, even if you think all cishet romances are boring and pointless (which is wrong, btw, from my pan perspective).

The episodic formula sadly seemed to push the earliest episodes into a very rushed pace in order to lay enough plot points to get readers interested.

But once the marriage of convenience happens, this is a masterclass in writing.

On how to make empathetic, relatable characters who make decisions that make sense.

Bad decisions because of believable circumstances, good decisions based upon their own strengths.

In how to integrate clues to a metaplot through the narrative, and also have the characters react naturally to them.

The visual storytelling is also just so so good, you can tell so much about what the characters outside the mc are thinking!

If you haven’t yet and WebToon stuff is your thing, read this series!!!

Anika said, her laughter mingling with the parting gesture—a playful kiss tossed towards her circle of friends, who, alongside Strato, escorted her to the limousine. Struggling to maintain her composure, her face was adorned with a languid smile, her vibrant personality thriving under the spotlight. Strato, with a gentle yet firm grip, encircled her waist, guiding her into the vehicle while offering warm, engaging smiles to the onlookers.

The evening was awash with the liberal flow of spirits, a setting both were no strangers to. Yet, tonight bore an unusual essence. The familiar grip Strato had around her hips as they swayed to the music carried a new heat, a deeper connection. Anika attributed this intensified sensation to the latest batch of Drops, a privilege her status afforded her early access to. Enhanced senses were making Strato's breath against her neck not just perceptible but electrifying, igniting a cascade of shivers down her spine—a stark departure from the unnoticed. She found herself yearning for his hands to wander further, daring to venture beneath the hem of her dress, with the touch of those clawed gloves caressing the insides of her thighs…

"Let’s go, my little gem, the night is over." Strato's soft whisper pulls Anika back to reality, though her smile swiftly reclaims its place, her eyes sparkling with determination as she contemplates her next move. In her mind, the night was far from over.

With graceful compliance, she stoops to enter the limousine, Strato's touch lingering on her lower back—a constant, comforting presence, that now Anika could swear was purposefully made to tease her.. Settling into the seat, legs crossed, she leans back, her gaze fixed on Strato as he joins her. The door shuts with a soft thud, and he exhales deeply, methodically removing his clawed gloves and placing them neatly beside him. Anika watches every movement, fighting the impulse to bite her lip in anticipation.

When Strato's gaze returns to hers, Anika leans forward, an expectant spark in her eyes. "Do you have a cigarette?" she whispers, her voice sultry, her half-lidded eyes conveying an interest far beyond the smoke.

Strato's eyebrow arches, his lips curving into a teasing smile. "I do, but I doubt your petty lungs could handle them," he responds, amusement coloring his tone, even as his eyes inadvertently sweep over her, bolstering Anika's confidence further.

"Nonsense. Gimme one," she insists, her body inching closer, hand finding a pretext to rest on his thigh, her intentions crystal clear.

Caught off guard, Strato's breath catches at the escalating tension. Trapped in the confined space, their proximity undeniable, he realizes the complexity of the moment—with Anika in a state far from sober, seeking closeness he anticipated so badly, but under any other circumstances than current. Gently, but firmly, he captures her wrists, lifting her hands away from his leg. "Darling, I'm not sure you even understand what time is it.. Just sit back and be a good girl until we get you home," he advises, striving for calm even as his gaze unwillingly admires her flushed and defiant expression, the allure of her milky skin in the black dress he starts to hate becoming almost unbearable.

With a pout, Anika retreats to her seat, arms crossed, yet the air between them remains charged.

“Fucking disaster," Strato mutters, his frustration evident as he pinches the bridge of his nose.

Anika's response is a mere huff, ambiguous in its cause—whether it's a reaction to his words or her own irritation at the events.

As the car continues its journey, Strato slowly lets his guard down, lulled into a deceptive calm. However, this is abruptly shattered when he notices, from the corner of his eye, Anika's fingers tracing the slit of her dress, deliberately revealing more of her leg than the fabric initially allowed. Strato's heartbeat thunders in his ears, a mix of desire and dread overwhelming him as he forcibly diverts his gaze to the window, attempting to distract himself. He goes as far as to close his eyes, silently invoking any deity for self-control as he feels an uncomfortable tightness in his clothing. Strato’s cock twitches in his pants, forcing him to shift his position slightly.

"You know..." Anika's voice, laced with a contemplative sigh, cuts through the tension. Her gaze is fixed forward, her fingers now drawing idle patterns on her nylon-clad knee. "I think I've been blind this whole time?"

Her statement hangs in the air, teetering on the edge of a question, seemingly genuine. Strato senses the direction of the conversation and feels a preemptive rush of adrenaline, his heart racing in anticipation yet his mind screaming for a quick cut.

"Sweet, trust me, you better keep that mouth shut until we reach your place," he says, managing to turn towards her with a semblance of his usual assurance, his eyebrows arched in a feeble attempt at levity.

However, Anika's ensuing chuckle sends a wave of unease through him. "Give me one good reason," she challenges softly, her body already shifting towards him with renewed boldness, her movements suggesting she knows he lacks the resolve to resist this time.

Strato recoils slightly, despite every instinct urging him otherwise. "Sweetheart..." he begins, only to be interrupted by her soft laughter.

"Don't bother, I know you don't have one."

Strato's mind teeters on the edge of panic, his breath catching as Anika toys with the collar of his jacket, her fingers gently fidgeting with the fabric. As she leans closer, his thoughts spiral, heart pounding at the prospect of their lips meeting. Yet, in a fleeting moment, Anika's movements shift, her face gliding just past his, compelling Strato to instinctively lean in, yearning for a kiss that evades him. Instead, her whisper caresses his ear, igniting a desire within him to embrace her, to explore the intricate designs of black metal on her bare back she constructed with her own hands. To forget everything—the demands of work, the boundaries they've set. This was the essence of Anika, constantly pushing him to the brink. With her, it was a paradox of ease and challenge to let go. The real struggle lay in how crucial she was to him, too significant to let her make such a mistake.

Anika shifts again, her leg sliding over his, sparking a curse under Strato's breath as his hand instinctively finds her hip, only to retreat swiftly to grip the seat's edge. Their interactions, even in moments of inebriation, had always respected the limits they established. But the Anika of tonight seemed to navigate beyond those boundaries.

Strato clears his throat, his gaze averted, wrestling with his next move. Her touch was rendering his mind feverish, as he was painfully aware of every inch where her body makes contact with his. And now, as she practically straddles him, the friction of her inner thighs against his makes him want to groan. He knows he must stop her. The temptation mounts, yet, with a deep breath through nostrils, Strato steadies himself, his hands clenching into tight fists for a moment until veins on the back of his hands are even more visible and then relaxing.

Lifting his gaze to meet Anika's, he's nearly overwhelmed by the intensity there. It's not the dulled, unfocused look of intoxication he half expected but a clear, deliberate gaze. Damned seductress, her presence toys with his senses, leaving him defenseless. Then, as she leans in closer, the lights shut down in Strato’s mind, all thoughts eclipsed by the softness of her lips, the mixed taste of alcohol and the sweet hint of her lipstick.

Strato's groan is involuntary, his hands moving without his mind’s command to encircle her. One arm snakes around her waist, the other cradles the back of her neck, drawing her closer as he desperately leans into the paradise her lips are offering him. The imminent regret shadowing this moment of bliss. He knows he will hate himself tomorrow for allowing this to happen. Damnit, he’ll hate himself for that in a few seconds, but God, how divine the sensation of her tongue dancing with his, her back arching, molding her delicate body into his embrace, forces all thoughts of consequence become momentarily irrelevant.

Hands roaming across her back, as his fingers tracing the cold metal that follows the line of her spine. Starto’s hips jerk up frantically in a mindless attempt to feel friction and that is what snaps him back to reality.

As Anika's whine melds into their kiss, Strato's hold tightens, a mixture of pleasure and agony etched across his face. It takes him a few seconds to drink out the last drops of that sweet nectar of the intimacy she’s providing, even if those weren’t the last in her possession, but the last he’d let himself have, before he manages to pull away, despite the protest echoed in her whimper. His hands unwrap from her body and he’s quick to gently but firmly cup her face, forcing her to meet his gaze.

Her confused hum, parted lips and eyes heavy with desire, nearly convinces him this is all normal—that their kisses are a regular occurrence rather than a boundary crossed. Strato, however, steadies himself, thumbs caressing her cheeks in a bid to ground them both in reality.

"Hey…" he prompts, seeking her full attention. Anika's eyes open wider, a frown forming as she realizes the restraint in his touch. Her attempt to close the distance again is met with gentle resistance.

"No, no, no, sweetheart... Anika, look at me. You're drunk. We can't," Strato implores, his voice a mix of firmness and care, a testament to the love driving his caution.

“And why is that? Have you ever been sober while sleeping with someone?”

Her retort, half-serious, half-teasing, attempts to trivialize their dilemma. She shifts provocatively, though Strato remains resolute, his focus on safeguarding her from making mistakes. Anika huffs with annoyance, met with another obstacle.

"Isn't this what happens between all friends at some point? You want me, I want you, blah-blah-blah, let’s fuck!" she challenges, the nonchalance in her voice mounts Strato’s confidence in belief that what is happening is not a good idea.

Strato sighs, his touch descending to her arms, giving them a gentle squeeze. "Yes, I want you. So much, you have no fucking idea," he breathes out, his tone tightening with emotion and he almost grits his last words trough clenched teeth, before exhaling to relax his jaw.

He leans back in seat, icy eyes never leaving hers.

"But tomorrow you will wake up with a headache in that pretty head..."

His smile, surprisingly easy to feel tender, softens the tension as he brushes a stray lock of red hair from her face. "And a bag of regrets. I’m not going to be one of them," he asserts, ensuring his words resonate, seeking understanding rather than compliance.

The shift in the atmosphere is palpable as Anika processes his sincerity, eventually relenting in her pursuit. Strato exhales in relief, carefully adjusting their positions, helping her back in her place, to ease the intensity of the moment without alienating her. His biggest fear is making her feel rejected, yet he knows Anika too well to believe she'd easily feel unwanted.

Touching her chin, he seeks her gaze once more.

"Let's get you home, Annie."

Weird webtoons with weird stories: "ok let me try it, she is isekaied in a romance book she loved, but it is, for no apparent reason whatsoever, invaded with zombies and she dies multiple times but a loop keeps sending her back in time to the beginning of the day."

NW: "ok no let's try something else. What if a quirky character had a day job that brought a lot of shenanigans?" (Daily JoJo, Maid for Hire, She's Hopeless, Let's Play, Publishing Love...)

WW: "ok lemme try, we've got a handful of quirky characters opening a restaurant and not only does it apparently start the end of the world, traps them in a dark food dimension and kills and resurrect some of their clients, they also think it's boring and try to spice things up by making things explode" (Just Pancakes)

NW: "what if the MC was a being with a physical difference that made them an outcast?" (Woven, New Normal Class 8, Carl, Down to Earth, Sable Curse, Cursed Princess Club...)

WW: "What if the MC was divided into four versions of himself at different ages and had to deal with the consequences every minute?" (live with yourself)

NW: "What if the MC lived an epic romance?" (the Remarried Empress, Lore Olympus, Subzero, Siren's Lament, See you in my 19th life, My dear Cold-Blooded King...)

WW: "What if the MC was unwillingly thrushed upon the path of a white-haired dude and both engaged in a self-and-mutually-destructing relationship of love, hate and obsession?" (the Double Agent, My Deepest Secret, yes there are two stories at least that fit that bill)
