@red-wardens Just two very brief snippets. But I’ve been thinking of Lenn & your squad.

Isseya finds him in the chantry, standing in front of the Prophetess' statue in quiet contemplation. "We are about to set out," she announces. "But we can afford to wait if you need more time." His eyes turn to her, eerily dark in the dim candlelight. "No. I'm good to go," he says, voice soft and gentle, corners of his mouth briefly pulled in an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry to have kept you waiting." "Found any comfort here? Or answers?" she looks up at the statue, studying Andraste's serene face with more than a subtle hint of scepticism in her eyes. Lenn chuckles, but there's so little mirth in it, Isseya's mind conjures up an image of dark water closing over what was to be a gasp for air. "I found some quiet," he replies.

"The alienage is off limits. Nobody can leave – or enter," Zevran announces when he returns from the gate and rejoins them in the inn. "There's been an outbreak of a plague. Probably the Blight sickness. The whole alienage is under quarantine." He steals a quick glance at the two Denerim elves. 

Kieran is clearly on edge, the scowl on his face intense enough to conjure up a storm. Lenn doesn't bat an eye. He would seem composed and collected – were it not for his hands. They often betray him – as they do now. His grip on his tankard with ale is a trifle too tight. He is staring at the table, careful to avoid any eye contact. Zev hesitates before he continues: "I—tried to charm some more information out of the guard posted by the gate." Lennan's voice is too level and too quiet when he asks: "What did you learn?" There's more hesitation as Zevran silently regards Lenn's hands. "Maker’s mercy, just spit it out!" Kieran barks and Lenn winces at the volume of his voice. The Antivan sighs and continues: "The guard said something about elven riots a while ago – and a dead noble. Howe apparently ordered a purge. Led it himself." Blood drains from Lenn's face and tension sharpens the outline of his jaw. The knuckles on his hands begin to gleam bone-white – and as sturdy as the tankards here are, Zevran half-expects that Lenn's will crack. It's hard to say what's more frightening – Lenn's silence, or Kieran's impending outburst – but it's clear which of the two is more likely to get them in trouble. Before Kieran can make a scene and before anyone else can react, one of Lennan's hands shoots for the other elf's forearm, gripping it with almost as much strength as that ale just a heartbeat ago. "Not here," he says – softly but firmly, with only the slightest hint of tremor in his voice. "Not now." Lenn's tone and, more importantly, that implied promise of 'elsewhere and later' take some steam out of Kieran's fury – and as the group slowly eases into plotting their next move, he gets distracted enough to calm down. "It ain't your fault," he mumbles towards Lenn during one of the brief silences that evening. "I appreciate the sentiment, Kieran," Lenn replies, voice flat and face schooled into an unreadable mask. Lenn is less preoccupied with his guilt than Kieran seems to think. It is there for sure, a dull throbbing ache at the back of his consciousness.

But he was barely registering it until Kieran mentioned it. And he'd rather Kieran had kept his mouth shut. "Do excuse me for leaving your company so early," he says as he puts a few coins on the table. "It's been a long day. Have a pleasant night." He notes with some displeasure his vision is becoming blurry as he walks down the hallway towards the door of his and Aeducan's room. The haze doesn't clear as he washes, changes into his night clothes and gets into bed. The night around him is like cold, muddy water and there are dozens of dead faces floating about. He's still awake when Ronan retires for the night. He turns to face the wall the moment he hears the doorknob turning. He listens to the rustling of fabric and soft splashing of water as the dwarf gets ready for bed. Then the room grows dark. "I hope they're alright, Bookworm," Ronan says by way of 'goodnight'. Lenn would respond – if only his throat weren't so tight. He squeezes his eyes shut and hopes Ronan will forgive his lapse in manners.

So I was fighting the Archdemon and... this happened. I even looted off his armour.

Sadly, he resurrected for the coronation.

I think Swiftrunner also died? I kinda lost him in the chaos.

Overall:

- he was terrible, but I needed an evil playthrough at least once

- first and only time I had all my army slots filled for the final battle

- things that especially felt wrong: siding with Branka, killing Zevran, taking Caladrius’ offer and betraying Alistair. Never doing those again. Just... nope. I felt like a monster.

- actually, killing Zathrian and his clan didn’t feel so wrong. The Lady had a lot of extra dialogue and she even came to Redcliffe. Might do it again with my Warden Solas since he would be PISSED that Zathrian bound a spirit.

- Hagen part of my Evil Worldstate along with Ronan Hawke. Funnily, Loghain survives everything in this one.

- unlocked so many achievements

- his name is Hagen because of the memorable villain in Wagner’s Ring (who isn’t half the dick mine is)

vampire au!

My OC’s: Vampire AU

Alyss Amell is a late 1700′s French vampire, and just, the sweetest little blood sucker; very polite, never kills her victims. Bitten at age 21 by nomad vampire Duncan to save her from dying of consumption. Pining for years over the pretty red-headed priestess with the beautiful voice who she can’t speak to because she’s always in the church at night and Alyss can’t step on hollowed ground. Leliana catches on eventually and is very endeared to the hopeless undead girl. 

Claira Hawke is Alyss’ human cousin visiting from England but ends up staying when Alyss turns. Always frantically trying to convince the town that her “sickly” cousin is very frail and that’s why she can’t leave the house and also she has tons of allergies like garlic and...crosses (”It’s the metal you see, Mayor Meredith, it just makes her skin hive up, you know, allergies.”). A terrible liar but Leliana helps her keep Alyss a secret.

Ronan Aeducan’s family is the head of a powerful modern-day (but a millennia old) coven but he fakes his own death so he doesn’t have to inherit leadership. Ends up opening a vampire-themed bar to go undercover, the goths of the town love it. He also over-pays a mortal bartender, Nora Brosca to keep his secret and be his daytime task-runner (he refuses to turn her into a vampire despite her repeated requests though). Ronan drinks animal blood since he was a vegetarian before he was a vampire and he sees this as the closest vampiric equivalent. 

Kyung-Jae “Kieran” Tabris is in the same timeline as Ronan and new to being a vampire. Got into a bad fight and could not afford medical care (cough cough guess which “first world” country he lives in) but was saved by century-old Blue Surana who had been walking home that night from the research lab she works nightshifts at. Now he’s greatly frustrated because he thinks being a vampire is so cool but none of his human college classmates believe him (”Look how pale and pretty I am now!” [”you were always pale and pretty..”] “Well look how strong I am!” [”idk you spend a lot of time at the gym dude”] “Ugh, come on! I can’t eat garlic!” [”Yeah well you’re also lactose intolerant :/”] Is invited to work at Ronan Aeducan’s vampire bar once Ronan notices that Kieran is, in fact, an actual vampire.

Blue Surana is the unofficial, unintentional coven leader of the small group of vampires that she’s either met (like Ronan Aeducan and centuries old now-phlebotomist Alyss Amell and her now-vampire wife Leliana) or turned (like Isseya Mahariel). Among others in her found-family is human vampire-hunter Cassian Cousland who she has befriended (or rather, saved, because he’d been nearly killed by a hostile vampire named Rendon Howe) whose family has protected humans from vampires for generations. He’s the first ever Cousland to befriend vampires and keep them a secret from humans and other hunters. This arrangement comes with the understanding and agreement that Blue Surana and her coven vow to not kill any human (human Nora Brosca is not thrilled about the lack of murder: “Oh come ON! Where’s the excitement in being friends with the undead if there isn’t even a littttle murder? As a treat?” [”Nora, no.”])

Back in the Circle, Blue didn’t have any friends. She mostly spent time with the Tranquil, liking their quiet and their straight-forward way of speaking. She felt more at peace with them than with her classmates. 

Some of the Tranquil even used to help her cut her hair, not always very well- and not at all stylishly- but usually at least very straight and neat which she appreciated. Sometimes they would accidentally cut it too short and she would be mistaken for a boy for a month or two. She never minded, and responded to he/him pronouns just the same. She never really understood the concept of ‘gender’ and it was never important to her. ——-

Nicole Shepard

Her face claim is Pilar Cruz. Nicole is Earthborn from Cagayan, Philippines and for her, the hardest part about adjusting to life in Alliance Navy was how damn cold space was. She always wore extra layers in Basic Training, causing her to almost overheat more than once. When they defeat the Reapers, she and hubby Garrus Vakarian - a Turian and thus fellow hater of cold weather- retire somewhere warm because it’s what they DESERVE.

ft Face Claim: Dev Patel

Is a bit in denial for a few weeks after Trian was killed. He was never the biggest fan of his older brother but, Ancestors, that was his brother. There were days in the Deep Roads where he was sure he’d heard Trian’s voice or glimpsed his shadow, his serene countenance just a facade while internally he was sweating and ready to flee. Finally seeing Trian’s ghost in the First Trial of the Sacred Ashes mission was too much. Ronan had never shed a tear for his brother before, but he broke down to his knees in quiet sobs. He didn’t get to pass through to the next Trial with the other Wardens because he hadn’t come to terms yet with the guilt, that what had happened hadn’t been his fault.

Nora Brosca

Because of her belligerent relationship with her mom, Nora doesn’t take well to drunks. And though she likes dirty jokes just fine, and is used to lecherous leers from her time in the Carta, she has little patience when it comes to Oghren who she feels should check himself since he’s been given the honor to hang with them post-Blight. Part of her hostility may come from his open flirtations with Sigrun (though Nora isn’t typically the jealous type). She can remain upbeat and  comical around him if others are also around, but her humor leans toward the more caustic and occasionally outright mean side when it comes to him. She prefers the company of women both romantically and platonically, so Oghren definitely isn’t her first choice to spend time with at the Keep. And Oghren’s definitely had one of her throwing axes land dangerously close to his head more than once after a particularly sexist or dirty drunken comment. 

Ronan Aeducan

There isn’t any companion Ronan is particularly close to or clashes with, generally remaining on neutral but pleasant terms with all of them as colleagues in war. In his opinion, Oghren is a decent man as far as drunken soldiers go. People of the Warrior Caste were some of Ronan’s favorite companions back in Orzammar, second only to his friends in the Artisan Caste. Ronan was about to be promoted to general before Origins and was generally well-liked amongst his men. Though he prefers his own drinks in moderation, he otherwise can kick back just fine with warriors like Oghren, swapping battle stories and the occasional bawdy joke. Unlike Oghren though, Ronan knows how to read a room and will refrain from such conversation if those who would be offended are around.

5 Pirate AU Headcanons

Blue Surana was saved by Captain Duncan of the Grey Griffon when a storm overturned a ship of “witches” on their way to a “trial” (to be burned at the stake). Blue was recruited to help Duncan hunt legendary sea creatures like kraken, sirens, and undead skeleton crews to keep the sea safe- none of which she believed until she saw them firsthand. After Captain Duncan was allegedly killed by pirates while away from his crew, First Mate, Alistair names Blue Surana the new Captain. She is now searching for his murderer and continuing his monster-hunting legacy.

Isseya Mahariel grew up among the large ships of the migrant Dalish Fleet. When her childhood friend Tamlen left to become a sellsword in order to send back money to support the Fleet’s clans, she went with him. He was killed one day while defending their ship from pirates and Isseya has since held a grudge against all of them. Once the old Captain decided to retire, he named Captain Mahariel in charge of the Seabear and the Black Arrow mercenary fleet. The Black Arrows are occasionally hired by towns officials and wealthy individuals to protect their ships and ports. More often, they’re hired by governments and royal families to hunt down pirates that have been notorious for eluding or attacking their Navy.

Cassian Cousland was a Lieutenant of the Antivan Royal Navy when the ship he’d been serving on, the Highever, was suddenly attacked by the traitorous Naval Officer-turned-pirate, Rendon Howe. His crew was slaughtered and he was taken prisoner to be ransomed to his wealthy family. But Howe made the unwise decision of trying to pirate the Grey Griffon on the way to land and was killed. Freed from his chains, Cassian swore himself to Blue Surana’s service, for a time, as both a fighter and the cook. 

Merchant Prince Ronan Aeducan has made quite a name for himself as a smuggler and procurer of rare goods. Rumored to be afraid of the ocean himself, he remains on land overseeing his trading ships. A pirate rumored to be in his service is Captain Nora Brosca, who he pays very well to deliver cargo across dangerous pirate-frequented areas of the ocean. And if she does any pirating of her own…Prince Ronan has been said to turn a blind eye to it.

Akono Hawke is both the doctor and Captain of the Sea Dragon, a ship known for hunting down slavers and freeing their cargo. The mysterious man goes under the alias “Jester” and is known for wearing a jester’s mask while out at sea. Few even among his crew have seen his true face. The Jester is rumored to be in allegiance, and close friends, with Admiral Isabela, one of the greatest pirates of the Dragon Age.

7. “Sleep is for the weak!” VS “Sleep for a week” (from the OC rivals meme, for any group and/or pair of OCs)

Team Sleep for a Week:

Winner: Ronan Aeducan (is probably asleep right now)

Alyss Amell (in Origins, but that’s mainly due to Depression™ )

Kieran Tabris (Warden Mahariel’s threats don’t scare him. He’ll sleep in when he wants to and barricade his bedroom door so she can’t drag him out)

Team Sleep is For the Weak:

Winner(?): Blue Surana (she’s searching for a cure for the Calling and she knows she’s running out of time. Sleeps the bare minimum, powers through her days with many cups of high-caffeinated tea, lyrium, and “energy drinks” that Amell makes from various herbs). 

Isseya Mahariel (boss lady likes to power through missions and reports one after the other nonstop. She’s a perfectionist work-alcoholic, and later a mom of 4. She literally schedules in sleep and power naps into her weekly agendas in order to maintain her efficiency)

Akono Hawke (he’s pirating slaver ships on the high seas with Admiral Isabela during the day and plotting the downfall of the Tevinter Imperium by night. He’s a busy man. Will make an effort to get some sleep but has no qualms about losing any)

Honorable Mention: 

Henley Hawke gets the least amount of sleep out of all my OC’s, maybe 3-4 hours a night sometimes less, rarely a little more (no wonder she’s in such a foul mood all the time). She’s had chronic insomnia since she was a teenager. Her fiancé Prince Sebastian has his people working on sleeping draughts for her all the time trying to find ones with the fewest side effects).

Isseya Mahariel is the Planner. Before they even hit the road she’s got all the motels/air-bnb’s booked, the emergency supplies in trunk, and the itinerary emailed to everyone who’s going. She’s Yelped-ed all the best tourist and food places in each area they’ll be driving to along with what the Reviews recommended at each (i.e. what to order, bring sunblock, etc.). Things never go according to plan though, and her friends help her learn to be ok with that. She likes to try the coffee at every city they stop at and has a note-taking app on her phone to record her compare/contrast notes. 

Kieran Tabris always finds a way out of his turn for driving (headache, too sleepy, “lost his glasses”, too rainy, too hungry, too full). Buys giant sized Slurpies at gas stations that cause frequent impromptu stops at fast-food places or bushes. Demands to ride shotgun and will race back to the car after each rest stop for it. Was once left behind at a gift shop because Mahariel said he was taking too long. Blue Surana made her go back for him. He likes to stop at “Instagram Worthy” spots and take a bunch of pictures/selfies. 

Cassian Cousland is the one that packs a ton of extra snacks and water in case anyone forgets. Also packs sunblock and allergy meds no matter what the weather. Likes to buy novelty hats and magnets and keychains everywhere they stop. When it’s his turn to play music it’s usually Disney music, Spanish pop (Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, etc), or music from musicals. Likes to point out distant cars and make up stories about the people inside (who they are, where they’re going). Journals daily. Texts his boyfriend Nathaniel Howe all the time because he misses him. 

Nora Brosca is non-stop excited the whole time, always chattering, pointing out the sights passed, and taking pictures with her polaroid camera. Punches really hard when she sees punch buggies or yellow cars. Claims to have “lost” Mahariel’s itinerary and gets everyone purposefully lost whenever it’s her turn to drive. She likes to shake things up. Blasts “Take me home Country Roads” when it’s her turn to DJ or songs to sing out loud to, yet Ronan Aeducan somehow manages to sleep through them. 

Alyss Amell  worries if they’re going the right speed limit since it starts to vary so much from place to place. She’s the one who cries their way out of a ticket that one time Brosca does get them pulled over. (They are small and were able to quickly swap driver/shotgun seats without getting out, before the cop got to their car). Likes to buy sweets from the locally owned bakeries and diners in each town. Plays a lot of Taylor Swift and Top 20′s when it’s her turn at music. Researches any potential “haunted” places before the trip and asks to stop there because she’s “curious” but will not get out of the car unless someone comes with her.

Pros & Cons of Dating: Ronan Aeducan

[Aromantic. Asexual Male]

Cons:

Won’t ever approach you romantically first because he doesn’t have any real interest in romantic relationships. That being said he’s not strongly against them so if you’ve been friends a while and bring up the idea of more he’s likely to give it a try unless he suspects it will be too “high maintenance” for him.

Very lazy. Will not be motivated to go out places much so if you’re not a homebody it might be a challenge. He’s not against you going out though. If partying/clubbing/concerts/festivals/theme parks are your thing, he’ll give you a thumbs up from the couch and wish you a fun day/night. 

A little spoiled. Ronan is not used to doing things like chores, cooking, or errands for himself and will want to hire people to do them even if it’s just cleaning people who come in once a month or so. Might have a private chef. 

Is rather reserved about his affections, especially in public, but also somewhat in private. Not a very tactile guy at all so if you need a lot of physical affection I would not recommend. 

Ronan likes to paint but rarely finishes anything he starts so if you were looking forward to seeing a WIP done, sorry. Also he often has paint on his hands and it might get on you. 

Bottles up feelings. A lot. If he has issues with you or anyone else he keeps it to himself and is very good at avoiding personal talks. He’ll listen to your deep talk intently but will dodge questions that pry into his mind. Ronan is in general very hard to read behind his calm, laid-back demeanor and you might always have this sense that you don’t fully know him. 

Pros:

Ronan’s....got money. He is smart with it but also likes to spoil his loved ones, especially you. 

He’s very chill and accepting of you no matter who you are/what you’ve done/what you’re doing now. He’s very laissez-faire about the people he cares about and if you have some bad habits you haven’t kicked yet or just in general a disaster he wont hold it against you.  Will not judge you for anything. Ronan will be very encouraging to help you recover though and is very slow to anger/annoyance. Even when he does get mad or frustrated he will always keep his cool. 

 An insane amount of patience. Won’t argue with you and will hear you out every-time no matter how loud and unreasonable you’re being. 

He loves/is incredible with kids (see gif above) All his/your friends/sibling/cousins will be always asking you if your boyfriend will babysit for them. Because of his patience is really good with talking to them respectfully and specifically caters to their age. Won’t watch teenagers though, he draws the line at 12 because after that there’s just too much attitude.

He’s handsome and takes good care of himself. Very hygienic (smells nice, good taste in aftershave and cologne, keeps his hair and beard looking hot) and works out almost daily because “getting back in shape is a lot more of a hassle than maintaining it”. 

A Fashion Icon (TM). Ronan dresses well and know how to help you get your style together if you ask. Won’t actually go out shopping with you though so you’ll have to bring the outfits to him or show him pictures. 

Great photographer, definitely knows your best lighting/angles and will often be trying to snap a shot or two of whenever he has his camera in his hands. 

Highly intelligent and observant. Doesn’t miss a thing and will always remember little details including what you say you like. Also highly analytical and a critical thinker so Ronan can help you figure out problems or give you suggestion if you need him to. (You might have to ask him a few times though since, again, very lazy. He’ll help but there will be a resigned sigh). 

Misc./Up to You:

Ronan will almost always take the neutral stance on issues as to not cause any trouble. He’ll support you in what views you have and actions you take but make it clear they’re not his own. Any strong opinions he has he will keep to himself. 

While he does for sure love kids, he really doesn’t want any of his own and won’t be talked into it. He’ll have the discussion whenever you want but it will just be talking in circles. The responsibility of always having a kid around, worrying about them, having to come home to them where there’s no breaks?- it’s just not his thing.  

His sex drive is near to none so he won’t ever take the initiative there. He’s sex-neutral though so after being together for a certain amount of time, and you bring it up, he wouldn’t be against trying. He’s not a virgin but he’ll probably read up on it a bit first though and it won’t ever become a frequent thing (too much exertion, clean up is a hassle, etc). 

Most times the relationship will feel more like a very close friendship than anything else (but he will be committed to you). 

It’s easy to turn Ronan into your therapist/psychiatrist. (especially in Modern AU where one of his two Bachelor Degrees is in psychology). He’s a good listener and very insightful. Will be able to figure you out and that might put you off if you’re prepared for him to point out something you aren’t ready to deal with yet. 

Physical:  He’s 5 feet tall exactly. A bit on the harrier side body-wise. Has a man bun. Tattoos, quite a lot of them, and many piercings in his ears. (and Henna in Modern AU).
