All right, it's probably time we get this straight. Ronna Romney McDaniel, the former chair of the RNC, was not fired from NBC because she was a conservative, she was hired because she was a conservative. She was fired because her entire previous career, the resume item that NBC hired her for, was entirely based on what she now freely admits were outright lies.

Most people who lie on their resume get fired when they get found out (nepotism babies aside). The shocking thing about this isn't what happened, but how it happened. The fact that the executives at NBC had so little respect for journalistic integrity and so little contact with their own journalists that they green-lit this hiring that was so bad that their employees rose up in revolt against it shows something rotten at NBC. Hopefully this shone enough of a light on the issue that they can fix it.

Word got back to McDaniel that some or all of them had promised Vander Plaats that they were going to be there, come hell or high water. After all, nobody is going to watch the fourth and probably final debate, but every evangelical in Iowa is going to watch the Vander Plaats show. So she put her tail between her legs and backed off. After all, Vander Plaats calls his event, where all the candidates will be on stage talking about Jesus and politics a "forum," not a "debate." Presto! It is fine to participate. Problem solved.

The person who is the head of the Republican Party during Donald Trump's time in office and during his effort to throw out the election result and stay in power any way, and during his effort to run for election again after having done that, is Ronna Romney McDaniel. And she pitched in and helped. She helped set in motion the part of the plot that involved sending fake Trump electors to Congress from states that Trump did not win so Republicans in Washington could use those fake, fraudulent elector slates to contend that maybe Trump did win those states, even though he didn't. And don't believe me on that. There she is on page 23 and page 27 of the federal indictment charging Donald Trump with conspiring to defraud the United States. There is her personal appearance in this scene of the crime as alleged by the U.S. Justice Department in this ongoing criminal case. In Michigan, where the fake electors are themselves now on trial, she told the state of Michigan in writing explicitly, do not certify the election results. The Detroit News has reported that with Donald Trump on the phone with her, she directed Michigan election officials to not certify the vote. She told them, quote, “Do not sign it. We will get you lawyers.”
