Day 19 - Prompt: Wonder @pandalilymicrofics

It was astonishing that Pandora managed to stay upright all the way through Lily’s tarot reading. She was so intently focused on every nuance of the medium’s predictions and observations that she’d entirely forgotten about the piece of rose quartz she picked up. Only when Lily pulled out her wallet to pay did reality blink into focus again.

The Fool! She pulled The Fool in a one card reading.

A fascinating turn of events that Pandora was trying very hard not to celebrate outwardly. The urge to shriek at the top of her lungs gripped her chest when the medium encouraged Lily to move to London. It was a wonder that she managed to contain it. Pandora was convinced that this proved they were connected.

Lily appeared at her side and tapped one finger on the crystal in her hand. “This is pretty. Do you like pink or is this one special?”

“Both.”

Pandora frantically rerouted her thoughts. She couldn’t begin her own reading with her mind muddled. It wouldn’t serve either of them well.

“Are you going to buy it?”

She glanced at the thumb-sized piece of rose quartz, then up at Lily. “Yes, I think so.”

“It would look lovely as a necklace.”

The medium cleared her throat delicately. Pandora took the cue for what it was and turned to greet her. She settled into the same seat Lily had vacated and tried to ignore the flutter in her belly at the warmth left behind. Remnants of Lily’s beaming aura flickered in the air around her and mingled with Pandora’s teasingly.

“One card or three?”

Pandora picked up the deck set before her and shuffled it. “Three, if you don’t mind.”

“Not at all, my dear.”

She appreciated the woman’s subtle nod of acknowledgement at her experience with tarot. Unlike with Lily, the medium didn’t give her step-by-step instructions or explain the cards in exquisite detail. Once three cards lay face up on the table before her, the woman simply smiled knowingly and waited.

“Is it what you expected?” she asked, tipping her head curiously.

Pandora placed her hand on the third card, representing her future, and stroked the all-too-familiar face of The High Priestess fondly. She appeared in nearly every one of her readings. Seeing her in the future position was gratifying. Her heart would lead her and her instincts were trustworthy.

The stern woman with a horned crown, a crescent moon at her feet, and scroll of laws in her lap reminded her of Regulus. Beyond the chin-length dark hair they shared was a blank mask of indifference and the fact that both figures clung to the “rules.” For Regulus, it was the constant reminder of “appropriate behaviour” that he had drilled into his mind as a child.

“Yes and no,” Pandora replied. “She is a constant in my future, so I am happy to see she’s still here.”

“And the others?” The medium’s lips twitched as she glanced at the centre card.

A Cups card wasn’t a wholly unfamiliar addition either. She’d received another one at her first reading with her current medium, Celestina Warbeck, when she was trying to decide if she should join Regululus in France for uni, or attend closer to home. Her father was thrilled about her interest in his home country, but her mother vehemently protested the idea.

Speaking her mind created a divide between them, but ultimately it was necessary to sever the cord. Yet, here it was again. Pandora wasn’t sure what she needed to confess this time.

“The Knight,” she said, shaking her head. “I’m not sure.”

The medium pointed to the knight’s open visor, then his uncovered cup. Pandora followed her meaning and nodded. His vision was unobstructed, which meant that his view of the path was clear. The cup was uncovered and empty, meaning she was prepared to fill it.

“Mm-hmm,” the medium agreed. “The Knight represents the idealised perception of a partner. Taken literally, a knight in shining armour on a white horse.”

“It’s romantic?” she checked.

“Yes.”

Oh. Oh!

Pandora’s heart thudded against her chest. The Knight in the present position meant…Lily. It had to be. She was the only one that Pandora wanted.

“I’m right, aren’t I?”

The medium flicked her eyes toward Lily, then smiled. “That’s how it appears to me. Your direction couldn’t be any clearer.”

The cardinal.

In one of their early, most intensive sessions, Celestina had seen a brilliant red cardinal waiting at the end of her path. Afterwards, every time they discussed Pandora’s love life, a red feather flitted just outside of her vision. She caught glimpses of it in dreams as well.

She called Lily my cardinal. The cardinal direction…due North is Lily.

All things concerned Vera had a happy childhood, being adopted at the age of five to the Patterson family was the best that could have happened to her.

Being the youngest she followed her older siblings anywhere they went, soon learning her away around the town. Greywood was her home and she planned for it to remain that way. She followed in the family business but soon found that her dream laid elsewhere, for the first time during her 20's she travelled outside of town to study to be a fashion designer a path that would lead her to what she truly wanted, making jewelry, part do to the fact of the small memento she carried with her from her past live, a small pedant left by her mother round and silver with a rose quartz in the middle. She treasures it deeply and often uses it as inspiration for her designs.

Due to her business, she travels more often than she would liked but in the end she always returns home to Greywood. It was during one of these travels, where Vera went to France, that she came across a vampire named Leonie in need of help, she guided the young vampire in what she could, giving her a daylight charm and telling her of Greywood in the hopes that the other would feel safe.

Vera is now back in town again, her dream of opening up her own shop to sell her designs strong then ever.

EXTRA INFO (in no particular order)

Vera has an online shop where she sells her jewelry, it takes most of her time but she is very proud of how far it's come. Sometimes she opens commissions for specific pieces, her favorite usually are involve weddings.

She is a romantic at hear but so far she still hasn't had much luck, Vera is still hopeful that she will find someone to share her life with.

The youngest of the Patterson siblings.

Has two cats, a tabby cat named Peaches and a black cat named Lucky.

Since a young age Vera has found that she can manipulate metal, only a small amount but enough to make her designs come to life. It took her a while to control and she is still learning but is getting better and better at it with time.

Vera often takes walks around Greywood for inspiration especially the forest.

Crystals Indepth: Selenite

Hi my badass bitches and badass witches, It's me Mai. With a random crystal of the day that we are going to learn about. I am just going to pull a card from my lovely Crystal Oracle deck and take a moment to learn about it in depth.

Ironically the first card pulled was Selenite, which is honestly a great place to start especially for those that are just starting out.

What is selenite?

Selenite is a part of the gypsum mineral, you may also know other types of gypsums such as desert rose or satin spar. Selenite is formed from Calcium Sulfate dihydrate and is a monoclinic crystal. The name comes from the middle english word, selenite which derived from the latin word selenites and also from the Greek Word selēnítēs líthos (σεληνίτης λίθος) translating as Moonstone. This crystal can be found in places like Mexico, Russia, Morocco, Greece, Poland, German, France, Australia and the US and other deposits can be found in many different countries. It was originally believed that the crystal would grow and shrink with the phases of the moon.

True selenite usually comes as a translucent stone, and has a 2 on the Mohs scale. Selenite Forms as a result of an accumulation of salt that has been evaporated from saltwater. For millions of years, the water will build up and evaporate and leave behind a layer of salt and then the process repeats. When the water becomes concentrated with a high level of saline solution in a cool environment when the mineral gypsum is present, the gypsum will start to crystallize. Selenite will form from the wet condition that they crystalize in and will often trap particles of sand and other minerals within the crystal. While selenite is often translucent it varies based on location and environment.

Selenite Vs Satin Spar

You might be very aware of satin spar, it's sold in many stores and shops and are usually labeled as selenite, but there is a difference between the two. Both Selenite and Satin spar are both from the Gypsum family, and are basically made with similar compound formulas.

Selenite is clear, almost transparent and has a more crystal like structure that you can see in other crystals such as rose quartz. While satin spar is a bit more milky and opaque and is more fibrous in structure. Overall they have similar properties, just one is built a little different from the others

Properties and uses

Selenite can be used for many things such as bringing balance, blessing, cleansing, creativity, inspiration, motivation, protection, and cleansing.

Selenite can be helped to bring awareness, harmony and balance. One can also use it to help keep one focused or to keep away negative spirits. Many believe that selenite has healing abilities as many healers have used selenite by placing it outside of one's home when they were sick to promote healing and Wellness.

It is often very widely known to keep away negative energy and to attract positive energy. It is also why I personally keep a piece of selenite above my door as to leave any negative energy from the day behind and bring positivity into my home.

So now it is also really great for meditating to help one connect with their own spirituality as well. Some people use it to better connect with their personal spirit guide. Selenite can also be used for scrying and can be used to help one connect with their higher self.

Because of the stones' association with the moon it's often that the crystal is used for Moon associated spells. And since ancient times my husband used to channel Divine energy from different planes which is why many use it to direct to energy during their work

Cleansing

Selenite is a crystal but I often don't tell people that they have to cleanse due to the fact that all night is self-cleansing because it brings a positive energy and reflects negative. Because of the chemical compound of selenite however and because it's part of the gypsum family, Selenite is not ideal to cleanse in water if you do choose to cleanse it. and we also for these reasons we do not leave selenite in salt because it can cause the crystal to corrode. Also please remember that Selenite t especially satin Spar is a bit fragile and it's important to Handle With Care as they can be very brittle. If you are to handle selenite in general please make sure to wash your hands after wards so that you do not accidentally cause splinters into your eyes etc.

Stray observations as I read and visualize Kushiel's Dart:

In my mind's eye the angel Naamah's earthly form has a Rubenesque figure and an abundance of thick curly hair; in other words she bears a resemblance to Rose Quartz, but without the pastel color scheme

Melisande Shahrizai wears her hair (which is blue-black and very curly) piled high on her head, not unlike the Sun King and other royals of early eighteenth century France. By her features (and height) she resembles Eva Green, Katie McGrath, and Elizabeth Debicki. (Fans self)

Oooh I think about this often!! I think it would go something like this:

Actual Rose Quartz (ARQ) + Amethyst = Rose de France amethyst, lepidolite, kunzite

ARQ + Pearl = Pink fire quartz, rhodoschrosite, angel skin opal

ARQ + Garnet = Rubellite, rose aura quartz, mushroom tourmaline

ARQ = Garnet, Pearl, Amethyst = plume agate, mystic topaz, Mojave turquoise

I'm having fun with this, so I'll even throw in some fanfusion speculations here! This time I'll put "Rose/Pink" as they could work for a Rose Quartz or a Pink Diamond:

Rose/Pink + Lapis = tanzanite, winza sapphire, pink moonstone (like the dyed kind that's this glorious bright pink with blues and purples)

Rose/Pink + Peridot = watermelon aura quartz, watermelon tourmaline, candy jade

Rose/Pink + Jasper = strawberry quartz, childrenite, phoenix aura quartz (or imperial topaz for a fourth one)

Rose/Pink + Spinel: pink sapphire, cherry quartz, pink topaz

ARQ + Pink Diamond = pink moissanite, morganite, pezzottaite

All things concerned Vera had a happy childhood, being adopted at the age of five to the Patterson family was the best that could have happened to her.

Being the youngest she followed her older siblings anywhere they went, soon learning her away around the town. Greywood was her home and she planned for it to remain that way. She followed in the family business but soon found that her dream laid elsewhere, for the first time during her 20's she travelled outside of town to study to be a fashion designer a path that would lead her to what she truly wanted, making jewelry, part do to the fact of the small memento she carried with her from her past live, a small pedant left by her mother round and silver with a rose quartz in the middle. She treasures it deeply and often uses it as inspiration for her designs.

Due to her business, she travels more often than she would liked but in the end she always returns home to Greywood. It was during one of these travels, where Vera went to France, that she came across a vampire named Leonie in need of help, she guided the young vampire in what she could, giving her a daylight charm and telling her of Greywood in the hopes that the other would feel safe.

Vera is now back in town again, her dream of opening up her own shop to sell her designs strong then ever.

Metal Manipulation - Since a young age Vera has found that she can manipulate metal, only a small amount about but enough to make her designs come to life. It took her a while to control and she is still learning but is getting better and better at it with time.
