I recently noticed something that makes me think that maybe the RoseGarden couple is canon after all and that is that, apparently Oscar refers to the story of "The Little Prince" according to the RWBY wikia (I know it's not 100% viable, but it's the best we have) and if this is true, I ask you the following:

Do you remember who the little prince loved in his story?... No? It's his rose. His only love it's his beloved rose and in RWBY, this could only refer to Ruby.

This is just a theory I have after checking the RWBY wikia and I just wanted to leave you guys this theory since it motivated me to keep writing about them.

I'd like to think that this could happen so that the RoseGarden could actually be canon in the series. Of course, this implies other things regarding Oscar as a character, but that's another matter.

After all, it was your comic that made me start writing about this couple, even though I haven't achieved anything good yet XD.

I had a realization of why I'm so against RG.

Oscar fans ship rosegarden.

Ruby fans don't.

Because RG as a pairing exists for the sole benefit of Oscar, Ruby doesn't get anything out of it. That's why everything about the pairing is Oscar-centric. Nothing in the ship is equal. Ruby does all the heavy lifting, and only Oscar benefits. Rg fans operate under the belief that Oscar benefits Ruby just by existing, his presence is a gift. Oscar has a crush, and that means that Ruby should date him, he's earned it.

Just like with Summer or Winter in relation to Hummingbird or Snowbird, the most important aspect of the pairing is how one half of the ship, Qrow, is benefiting or developing. Or rewarding them for good behavior or character development. While the other half is more or less an accessory in service to the focus character. Or a trophy.

This is why Ruby's feelings, or more specifically her lack of romantic feelings or interest is never brought up. Because her feelings in regards to the ship, and her character largely isn't really a factor. She's just there for Oscar to admire, or pine for, or get comforted by. If rg fans actually cared about Ruby's feelings, they wouldn't push it so hard, because Ruby has no romantic interest in Oscar.

But at its core, the ship isn't for Ruby's sake. So of course I would be against it, Ruby is in my top three RWBY characters. While I'm very lukewarm on Oscar as a character. I've long believed that Ruby doesn't need a romance. But if she was to get one, I'd obviously prefer a well-developed pairing between two equals with good rapport & chemistry where both participants mutually benefit. Not rosegarden. Rosegarden is an Oscar ship, not a Ruby ship. That's always been the case.

Team rwby will be gone from vacuo for like a week maybe, but no more than that.

I am a new fan to RWBY, and all I can say is that Rose Garden is my favorite ship. Since oscar First appeared, I just shipped them. Hopefully, they can have a cute reunion in vacuo, but my theory is that oscar will still be the age he is now, and little to no time has passed since team rwby disappeared.

Why?

First, because if years have passed since they disappeared, Salem will probably have already attacked vacuo to get the relic. It would not make sense that she waits years to attack Shade Academy and conveniently attacks when team rwby returns after years?

Second, because in the case that she DID attacked vacuo when they were on the never after, there is no way that they will just skip that part and not involve team rwby on it.

That's why I think team rwby will be gone for like a week maybe, but no more than that. Or even less.

I really hope at least a week so they have time to mourn team rwby, and when they come back, we can have a big reunion.

I really dig Timeskip Rosegarden for a lot of reasons.

Timeskips are just so dramatic and tension filled when they’re one sided and, because I’m not making actual RWBY, I can take as long as I want on whatever I would like to focus on.

I don’t talk about Ruby’s side of it a lot, because just dropping her into a situation isn’t quite what I enjoy. I like to build stuff up!!

But I think there’s something really exciting in writing Ruby’s feelings about the world being just different enough to feel jarring. The people she knew are different too! They’ve all grieved her, or been surrounded by hero worship that might affect their feelings (distorting it or making it hard to remember how things actually were).

Specifically relating to Oscar feelings though, the disorientation of not knowing how he feels is fundamental! Is he happy she’s back? Is he distant?

The idea that other people might know him better could make her feel…frustrated? Or maybe just surprised. It’s an uncomfortable idea that someone’s life has continued onwards in the short time (for you) that you were gone.
