Creator’s Week 2021 for @roswellnewmexicocreate - Day 1 : Character Recs
This is my favorite fandom event, and my third year doing it. The last year was really difficult, and fanfic more than ever was my escape from it. Shout out to all the writers, commenters, and lurkers who kept fandom going during it.
Rosa Ortecho:
heal it or break it all apart by @adiwriting : (7,600) All Rosa’s ever done is break things. Her entire life she’s destroyed everything she’s ever touched. So it’s really no surprise when she comes back that her powers do the same. Alternatively- 4 times somebody tries to get Rosa to seek help with her powers and one time she decides to help herself. GEN
why i like it: I pretty much love whatever Britt writes, but in the light of how season 3 is going, I found myself returning to this fic more than a few times. She really captures the fierce but vulnerable Rosa in this beautifully.
Kyle Valenti:
at every occasion i’ll be ready for a funeral by @bydayornight (1,330) Kyle goes on a vacation after the events of 3x04 and meets an unlikely beach companion. GEN
why i like it: Christine has become one of my new favorite writers, and has been a season 3 coda writing machine. Here is where we all would like Kyle to be - lounging on a beach without a care in the world (with that RNM twist! lol) She also does a brilliant job with the Kyle and Michael vibes here.
Maria Deluca:
Butter(bar)flies by @andrea-lyn (4,447) When all of Maria’s people fly away for new opportunities, she needs to find new ones. The lost decade and what should have been. MILUCA
why i like it: Manda has written some of my favorite stories, and even has dragged me into Ted Lasso, but this little lost decade AU is one of my favorites. She captures the flirty vibe of season 1 Michael/Maria, and inserts it into a time when it really makes sense to me for that a friends-with-benefits-relationship should have begun, to give weight to a choice for Michael. Maria is wonderfully characterized here, and it really makes it clear how a real love triangle should have been structured.
Liz Ortecho:
heart of lightning (a roswellian tale) by @bitch-ass-aliens (20,095) When Ser Elizabeth Ortecho of the Roswellian Court is sent by Queen Isobel to retrieve the heart of the missing King Maxwell from a fearsome lightning dragon guarding it, she knows success could bring her one step closer to completing a quest of her own. Ten years ago, a mage named Ophiuchus curse her sister with eternal slumber, and Liz has been searching for him ever since. Saving the king could be the key to learning Ophiuchus's true identity and saving Rosa. But the dragon is not what it appears to be. Soon Liz finds herself needing to guard her heart from feelings forgotten long ago as she and her friends journey back to Roswell, King Max by their side, with more than just the fate of Rosa hanging in the balance. For Ophiuchus's plans are bigger and more dangerous than any of them realize. ECHO
why i like it: This was part of the RNM Big Bang last year and as a fellow participant, I did my best to read and feedback the other submissions, which meant reading something that wasn’t Malex 😂🤯 - suz made it easy, writing a beautifully detailed medieval AU that retold the story of Rosa, Noah, and Max’s S1 sacrifice, through the amazing POV of Ser Liz. This story had everything I love about Liz- her devotion to her family, her bravery in doing hard things, and her love for Max.
Max Evans:
highway to the sun by @angsty-nerd (22,236) Noah’s heart is failing, and Max is on the verge of death. His final wish is to see Liz one last time, so he and Michael road trip to Los Angeles so that Max can say his goodbyes. ECHO
why i like it: Another part of the 2020 RNM Big Bang - Instead of a focus on Liz in this Echo story, we’re deep in the psyche of Max Evans, who is trying to tie up loose ends before he dies. I love the atmosphere of the road trip, the sadness of the clock that Max is trying to run out, and the whole Michael/Max brotherly bond in this story. It’s got all the sweet elements of some of my favorite romantic dramas - like “Beaches” or “Dying Young”, but mixed with the sci fi of RNM. Even though it was written pre-season 3, I really love how it ties up season 2 here.
Alex Manes:
i’m just like my mother, we both love to run @meneatyoghurt (5,211) After what his dad does, he runs and runs and runs. A look at Alex's relationship with running, from track and field to leaving Roswell. MALEX IMPLIED
why i like it: Alex is one of my favorite characters on RNM, mostly because of how hard he tries in spite of his flaws. I love a good story that focuses on why it’s a struggle for Alex to be present, and doesn’t shy away from the fallout of his actions. This is a gorgeous look into Alex and his tendency to run to feel safe, and how that affects his relationships, and why he wants to stop. I just have a lot of feelings about Alex, especially after reading this.
Michael Guerin :
looking for yourself out there by @haloud (6,670) It’s early; it’s a weeknight. Michael can only be here to get blasted or for Marco himself, and both of them know it.It’s been a while since this was a game, for Michael. The flirting he did with Maria was something else, a class all her own. Sex, and the lead up to sex, for the longest time was either life-or-death or it was a helpless, hopeless lashing out for any human contact. (It was either Alex, or it was Maria, or it wasn’t.)So this is nice. MICHAEL/OTHER
why i like it: I privately think hal understands Michael Guerin like no other, and their fic is just a delight for anyone who wants to look under that macho cowboy exterior to see him. One of the things we both agree on as Michael Guerin fans, is that Alex is not the male exception for Michael. And while the show will probably never deliver a Michael/OMC storyline like they have with Max/Jenna, Isobel/Blair, Liz/Heath, Alex/Forrest - that’s what fanfic is for and this story is so satisfiying. If you don’t come away from this story loving Marco and wishing he was real... I don’t know what to tell you. I was so inspired by it, I wrote my own Michael/OMC story.
Isobel Evans:
future starts slow by @foramomentonly (4,799) The bartop is sticky, but Maria's skin is clean and soft.This is how it starts. Brushes of fingers as Maria passes over a glass of wine; her cool, dry hand cupping Isobel's wrist as she reads her palm; Isobel's fingertips pressed to Maria's temples, wisps of curls caught around her knuckles as they practice combining their powers. MARIBEL
why i like it: It’s just facts that Maria and Isobel have incredible chemistry, their banter is off the charts, and I love this sexy story of Isobel approaching Maria for more after they’ve been circling each other for a while. It’s a gorgeous look at two strong women who very rarely let down their guards, but for each other, they do. The sex is really hot, but I think what lingers most with me is how this story rewards the swan dive of hope, Isobel after a lifetime of “being who she should be” becomes who she wants to be, a woman who loves fiercely but not destructively. Of course, Maria is no wilting flower here, which makes it all the sweeter.

RNM Fandom Creators’ Week 2020 - Day 3: AUs
I LOOOOVE AUs! Love to write them, love to read them. Here are some of my faves.
Shadow Work

This, to me, is one of the ultimate RNM fandom AUs. I’d recommend it to everyone. I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since it was posted - I was recovering from mastitis last Halloween, and was LIVING for the nightly updates of this fic. It’s impeccable - an awesomely spooky plot in which Alex is a shade, Michael is the ex who is back in his life, and there’s a mystery afoot involving the aliens. Alex, Alex - he’s written SO well in this, and there are some of the best passages regarding physical intimacy in the entire fandom. It’s heartbreaking in parts, too - there’s a moment where Alex asks Michael to clear the forces that have been “pushing” him, only to discover it changes nothing - it’s been his own psyche for the entire scene. Marvelous. I reread it during the pandemic and still just absolutely love it.
You ask me to enter but then you make me crawl

One of my favorite, favorite tropes is secret marriage, and this is such a gut wrenching fic that hinges on the idea that Michael and Alex are secretly married, and this fact isn’t revealed until years later when Alex is injured. The characterizations here are superb, ALL of them, with so many heartbreaking details. I cried, for real, at the end.
Satellite’s Gone by the Anonymous Roswell Author
The Roswell Anon has written so many great stories, but this is one of my absolute favorites. Michael leaves the planet but is still able to communicate, for a time. But all is not as it seems. So perfectly written, and so memorable, to me.

This is a standout AU, in my opinion. Alex is a folk singer who fled Roswell after high school. Against his better judgment, he plays a show in New Mexico, and who do you think he runs into? This is perfectly written, with such vivid, descriptions and characterizations. The post-coital fight is one of the most memorable passages I’ve ever read in the RNM fandom.

We wanted to thank everyone who took time out of their busy lives to create content for Alex Manes Appreciation 2020 week. The overwhelming participation from every corner of fandom has been not only humbling, but also a clear confirmation of how Alex Manes remains the most valid man in the world of Roswell, New Mexico.
During the week we saw incredible stories, beautiful edits, and stunning gifsets all focused on Alex. We even welcomed brand new Alex content creators to the event AND to the fandom!
The past few months have been turbulent, for us both as fans and as content creators. Even as the season ended, we were unsure if fandom's love and passion for creation would return. We are however DELIGHTED that you all proved us wrong, and reaffirmed how much creativity and passion remains at the heart of this fandom.
While we don't know when season 3 will air next year, we can promise you Alex Manes Appreciation Week will definitely be back next year. And we cannot wait to welcome you all back to it.

I’m all about the dynamics on the show! What I want more than anything in the seasons to come, are the friendships of the group—and for them to work together to solve mysteries around Roswell!
However, my favorite dynamic will always and forever be Malex. I love them with my whole heart. We’re so lucky in our fandom, to have such beautiful Malex creations. So I want to spotlight just some of my favorite Malex creators and their creations!

Molly ALWAYS captures a bundle of emotions, deep love, and smut—3 of my favorite things. And this fic is one of my favorites. The love between Malex will always bring them back together finding home within each other in a cosmic way. And what better way than to dance in the arms of the one you love while declaring your love? Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. Thank you for this and thank you for always giving that emotion to Malex.
Home Is The Nicest Word There Is by @i-never-look-away
Michael comes home after a long day.
Beka always has a way with words; they’re beautifully poetic. She always captures the love between Malex in every way; from a glance to a gesture, to the thoughts that are unspoken. The way she created a sense of family in this story, was breathtaking. It goes to show that even the small moments bring the happiest outcomes. Thank you for the hopeful and happy moments.

Michael agreed to house-sit while Alex was away at an Air Force training. What Alex didn’t anticipate was returning to find traces of Michael everywhere.
This fic just really touched me. Amy always captures the love between Malex in the most creative ways! You can feel it, even when the other character is hardly in the fic. She’s that good! The way Alex connects with Michael in this fic, is so unique and refreshing. It shows you with confidence they’re building that foundation of trust, and more importantly, that their love will never fade. Thank you for showing us what could be!

Sadie has captured something so beautiful in this fic; like she always does. This one really touched my heart. The two of them have come so far in their relationship, yet the past is still sprinkled along their path. Canon provides so much pain on a daily basis, and some creators enjoy ripping our hearts with their works. Today's the day when we all celebrate creators who love breaking us. Share those works with all of us!

Another very angsty fic that just destroys me. In this, Michael finds out that the Evans wanted to adopt him too but Isobel and Max interfered to make sure it didn’t happen. And all Michael wants is to find comfort from Alex, so bittersweet and wonderful.

The first time I read this fic, I started sobbing. The idea that Alex recorded a farewell message years ago and kept it queued up even after he came back to Roswell so Michael knew how much he loved him, just wonderful. I still get a little teary-eyed every time I reread this fic
No Voice series by @spaceskam
This series is just so fantastic. The first part where Michael tries so hard to get Alex to trust him and the way he pines for him is just so wonderful. I love the build up of, how Alex slowly comes out his shell and trusts Michael, even going out in public on a date with him so wonderful. And then second part just sucker punches you in the heart. How they navigate their relationship in a new environment was going to be tricky to begin with but when they both want different things? Heart ache. But in a wonderful way because it ends on a hopeful note. I hope Alyssa writes more of this universe, it's so wonderful 💙

Roswell New Mexico Creators Appreciation Week 2020
For the second year in a row, our RNM Fandom Creators Appreciation Week has been a huge success! So much love has been shared this week, and we are deeply moved that so many people from so many different corners of fandom decided to take part in this!
Thank you very much to everyone who’s participated, everyone who’s taken a moment of their lives to create a post spreading love around fandom for their favorite creators, for the people who keep this fandom running despite everything, only asking for some comments, kudos, likes and reblogs in return of all the priceless talent they share with us.
Once again, we are only human and we’re sure that maybe some posts have been missing from the tags. In case your posts haven’t been reblogged to this account, please send us a message and we will make sure they are shared. Also, if this is the case, we are sorry for having missed them.
We will be back next year, hopefully, with more love to share and more creators to gush about. It’s been a pleasure running this event this year, and we hope to see you next year for more!

Carina Adly MacKenzie is out as the showrunner of the CW's Roswell, New Mexico.
According to multiple insiders, the first-time showrunner's relationship with studio Warner Bros. Television had been strained for some time. One of the latest points of contention came late last month when MacKenzie, who created the soapy drama renewed for a third season in January, fired off a series of tweets. One source, in particular, says that Warner Bros. had to do "damage control" with a foreign distributor after MacKenzie accused ITV in the U.K. of homophobia, biphobia and bigotry for cutting selective sex scenes from her show.
Really, really, REALLY upset to hear that @itv cut out a (pretty tame) love scene between two men and kept a (much more raunchy) heterosexual sex scene in their airing of an episode of #RoswellNM tonight. There are a lot of angry tears happening at my house tonight.

A spokesperson for ITV2, the channel that aired the episode of Roswell in the U.K., disputes MacKenzie's characterization of the editing, however. "During our compliance process on episode two, we edited love scenes featuring the characters of Alex and Michael and Max and Jenna," said the rep. "Editing is only ever undertaken to ensure content is suitable for scheduling in a pre watershed time slot when younger age groups may be watching. Scenes involving sexual content were edited in keeping with the regulator, Ofcom's, guidelines."
For two-plus years, MacKenzie had co-run Roswell with Christopher Hollier (The Originals, Once Upon a Time) but was the show's sole creator and its chief creative voice. During her time on the show, she is said to have fostered a working environment that some say was rife with tension. Among the issues, according to those insiders, is that MacKenzie would spend an unusual amount of time on the set in New Mexico, away from the show's Los Angeles-based writers' room — a move that was said to frustrate some of the writers.
Showrunners typically spend the bulk of their time during the writing process in the room (or at least they did pre-COVID) and though Hollier was technically in charge in MacKenzie's absence, some point to the fact that MacKenzie did a lot of re-writing and often turned scripts in late as proof the show may have been run more smoothly were she around in person more. Sources note that the situation improved some in the second season when the writers' room was given more lead time before production started.
There was also said to be friction at times between MacKenzie and some of the actors, including series star Jeanine Mason. Multiple sources say that Warner Bros. HR looked into the matter last year. The results of that probe, which MacKenzie, Mason and Warner Bros. all declined to comment on, are not clear but what is known is that MacKenzie was able to continue running the show.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, a Warner Bros. TV spokesperson would say only, "Carina Adly MacKenzie has departed as executive producer/co-showrunner of Roswell, New Mexico. The third season of the series will return to The CW as part of the network’s 2021 midseason lineup."
MacKenzie, for her part, told THR: "I have made the difficult decision to resign from my role on Roswell, New Mexico. I do not take this decision lightly, but ultimately due to fundamental differences, I must depart and entrust Roswell, New Mexico to capable hands. I am so proud of what we built over the last two years, and I believe in the heart and soul of the show: asking tough questions, striving to make the world better, amplifying marginalized voices, and fighting the good fight."
Her departure comes just as writing for the upcoming third season is beginning. Roswell, a steady enough performer for the CW, follows the daughter of undocumented immigrants (Mason) as she discovers her teenage crush is an alien who's kept his unearthly abilities a secret. Warner Bros. is likely to make a formal announcement about a succession plan in the coming weeks, though co-showrunner Hollier is expected to stay on and take full responsibility for the show.
MacKenzie, a former TV journalist who wrote about The Vampire Diaries at the now defunct Zap2It.com, transitioned to a career as a TV writer after the show's creator Julie Plec took her under her wing. MacKenzie started as a writers' assistant on Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals, quickly rising through the ranks to become a writer and story editor on the series. Her credits also include an episode of The Flash. In April 2018, she inked her own two-year development deal with Warner Bros. TV. Sources say she is no longer under a deal with the studio.

Roswell New Mexico Creators Appreciation Week 2020:
Next on the fic rec train is Du'énágu juu'tii'da {Don't give up} by @jocarthage
I read this fic awhile back and it was one of those fics that I had to sit with for awhile because there was just so much to appreciate about it - I find that often is the case with Jo’s writing. She packs so much into every word she writes and does so much world building and research that every little bit of info she gives you, you find yourself wanting to know more. But that’s a tangent for another time. Right now I just want to say: Alex is in therapy. This fic has Alex in therapy and working on himself and that’s honestly what drew me in at first. Because don’t all of our RNM characters need that?
The premise is that Alex is given homework and has to create a list of 10 things that make Alex happy... and he goes to Michael for help. It’s a lovely little piece that is followed up by 2 more lovely pieces all that end up with a list of 10 things that make Michael happy and 10 things that make Malex happy. I really hope no one is surprised that I’m focusing on Alex heavy content for day 2 of @roswellnewmexicocreate! 😎
the hardest place to be is right where you are by @queersirius is a sweet as heck but heart hurty Alex pov fic. It’s slow and steady look at what could have been season 2, and a way forward for Alex that would have lead him back to Michael, which is the best thing of all!
love is a burning thing by @sabrinachill is a fic that I often think about. This is one of those stories that you end up thinking of in the darkness of night. Alex’s quiet struggle towards freedom is heavy thing, wrapped in solitude and frostbitten with grief. Michael’s addition as a spring thaw to Alex’s heart in this story is perhaps something that will live in my dreams for a long time.
i won’t give it up (now your heart is in my hands) by @hannah-writes none of my rec lists will ever be complete without Hannah's stories. She writes Alex’s pain like a living thing in this one, a breathing heaving boulder straining Alex’s shoulders like Atlas. The slow evolution of his pain into relief, his sorrow into joy, and his loneliness into romance never fails to make me cry. I love Alex Manes, but here, in this story, I cherish him.

There are no more Manes Men left by @queersirius friends, Millie isn’t just a talented writer BUT ALSO an incredibly talented gif maker. LOOK. AT. THIS. I love the gifs, the comic book style and the overall focus on Alex’s strength, and his freedom. Millie deserves all the kudos for this!

I just read your post about the inconsistencies and it had me laughing lol. I watched the episode with heart eyes for EdSer and enjoyed their scenes but def thought something was off. For sure the one thing that stood out immediately while watching was when Eda was saying goodnight, she was being so flirty and he was so moody?? What??? Def 2 different moods going throughout the day that didn't mesh with one another lol. I do wonder what happened, and I feel like your theory about them changing the "not trusting" thing makes sense. Also, the timeline has always bothered me but I can ignore it but when it's obvious you're going from summer to end of the yr but still saying something only happened last week or 2 weeks ago, it's messy. Thinking back it's funny how fast the tree went up and gifts were bought 😂😂 I still love it all!!!! Hahaha it's been a balm to the soul for 2020
It’s been a balm for my soul too! I love it and I don’t really care about the ridiculous timeline, that’s something I’m willing to suspend disbelieve on, partly because I think that how short of a time that Serkan and Eda have actually known one another is a romantic part of their story.
I suppose, though, that the timeline is a causality of each episode always starting at the exact moment the last one ended. Most times I really like that device, but it does make it harder for the narrative to show the passage of time. Also they write and shoot things so quickly, I don’t know that there is anyone going through and making sure things match up and make sense. Maybe there are no continuity experts.
With the obvious changes and weirdness this last episode, and with the creator leaving, I do wonder if there was some internal drama going on. Anil did a live yesterday, and I can’t be sure because I’m relying on random translations, but when asked about the ratings and the future of the show he was positive, but said something about them getting back on track when the writing straightened out. (If anyone has a better translation of what he said let me know),
If he did say something like that, that’s pretty telling. While I don’t fully understand how things happen in Turkey, I do understand how they happen in Hollywood and backstage shakeups are common on shows. We just saw a huge one this hiatus on one of my other shows, when the creator/showrunner of Roswell New Mexico was unceremoniously fired, and I was a huge The West Wing fan back in the day when no less a writer than Aaron Sorkin was shown the door on his highly rated, award-winning creation at the end of season 4. Just saying, if he can get ousted, anyone can. Maybe it was the creator’s decision to leave, or maybe there were other issues, and we saw the manifestation of that in episode 24. (On a side note, it’s stressful for the actors and crew under normal conditions, but under these conditions when they’re working all the time and doing it only a week out from air, if there were issues in the writer’s room that’s got to put even more strain on them. All to say, please be kind to them on social media!)

2020 Creator Wrap: Favourite Works
Tagged by the lovely @ravens-world - that was like 23 days ago! But I wanted to have more work posted, so forgive the late response.
Rules: it’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 (or so) favourite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought to the world in 2020. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
I now have 8 completed works on AO3 and 1 set of Tumblr ficlets, and I will say that this time last year when I was tagged in the meme, I had only one work. So 2020 was more successful than I imagined.
1. Last Year’s Wishes Are This Year’s Apologies - (176,000 words) what started as a hiatus project that I wanted to have done before season 2, ended up stretching through June past the finale I believe. Missed deadlines aside, I’m very proud of it and feel it still holds up as a season 1 fix-it fic. It still gets “traffic” with hits and new bookmarks.
2. in sickness and in health (trojan horse) - (51,000 words) the hardest thing I ever wrote, during this pandemic that will not end, secrecy of the challenge and another hiatus that lingers on day after day. However, it’s probably the tightest written story I have ever produced, where there’s really nothing that doesn’t tie into the plot or make the plot hurt more. Lots of angst, and I unknowingly let a bit of the 2020 Covid crisis color some of the details. Despite all of that, I hope the happy ending was carthatic.
3. Leave the Fire Burning (20,000 words) - originally intended for Malex Week’s trope day, this sex pollen/lab accident/misunderstandings post-season 2 work was really just an excuse to write some explicit porn, particularly a few tropes I find hot to read.
4. This Hard Love (34,000 words) - debuted much of this during Michael Week, but the last chapter took almost 2 months to write as I juggled my big bang- but anyway, I loved tweaking canon, sprinkling some of the lines we love, and then playing out alternative scenarios. I also really wanted to do a look at Michael and his economic struggles in Roswell, particularly post-high school when he was living in truck, briefly in a shed, and then back to his truck again.
5. you give me a good reason to be heartsick again (let me down easy) with @christchex (5900 words) Writing a story set around early season 3 with Malex as being friends who talk about everything with Christi was a lot of fun. Yeah we tossed some salt about Forrest Long, but mainly we were complaining about some of the plot lines in season 2 regarding how “out” Alex was perceived to be. We laughed our way through writing this! First cowrite in way too many years. Also, somehow we left out the important kiss - but we all know that Tuesday night “date” was going to end in bed together.

RNM Fandom Creators’ Week 2020: Day 2 - Character
There are so many talented writers in this fandom. It’s no secret that I love the Michael/Alex dynamic, and I was thinking about some of my favorite portrayals of Michael and Alex in fic.

The characterizations in this are so, so good. It’s that theme I love - Alex and Michael trying really, really hard to work on themselves and their relationship. EVERYONE is so well-written in this - certainly Michael and Alex, but I really like Kyle’s portrayal too. And it also has the most realistic child character in the fandom. I’m a mom of two young children and I usually dislike kid fic (I often find it very cloying), but this is just... SO good and spot on. I’ve read a lot of fic, ha, and the fact that I still remember specific lines from this is telling.

Look, I raved about this yesterday too, and I’ll rave about it again today. This is SO well done. The characterizations are great, and so THOUGHTFUL, especially Alex, Michael, and Maria. The author had mentioned that she read meta and gave a lot of thought to the portrayals and motivations, and it shows.

This was the first work I read by myrmidryad, and WOW, did this fic 100% capture Alex for me. It’s tough, too, because Alex is deaged in this (another trope I don’t typically enjoy that works perfectly here), so the author is dealing with two different Alex characters, but it’s handled so so well. Young Alex’s horror and lack of understanding at what his older counterpart’s life looks like now? Ooooohhh... it’s so good.

Look. I know I’ve talked about this fic on here before, but this is truly the fix that launched a thousand head canons for me. It was so raw and gritty, and so Michael. And this was before Season 2 gave us an actual shot of Michael bent over a pool table, grinning around a mouthful of blood. I love ninswhimsy’s writing style, and I feel like she has a really good handle on Alex and Michael throughout her fics.

RNM Creators Week 2020
Ok, well I’m gonna give this a try. I normally only reblog stuff so actually participating in an event is making me nervous lol.
Before I started watching Roswell NM I’d never been on Tumblr, had never heard of AO3 and had never even read fanfic. Now, a year later, I have a serious AO3 addiction, check for new fic every day and have my own regularly updated list of the fics I love the most and keep going back to over and over again. So I have to take this opportunity to give some love back, as ”just” a reader.
Day 1 - Dynamics
This will mainly be Malex-centric stories, I have no other choice. They occupy a permanent spot in my brain now to an extent that I’ve never experienced before. It’s just how it is.
Narrowing this down to a few authors/fics has been really difficult, but here it goes...
The Cost of Greatness – @bestillmyslashyheart, @iwontbeyourmedicine /reachedthebitterend
Beginning with the exchange ”Don’t act like you love me all of a sudden” ”Are you fucking stupid?” just straight away sets the stage for a lovely satisfyingly angsty rollercoaster of emotions with an ”us against the world”-feeling that I am a complete sucker for.
Speaking of dynamics, this not only has a Malex dynamic I love, it is also a great duo of authors. They have some amazing stuff, both separate and as co-authors and I’ll happily just spend hours scrolling through their work. To name just a few pieces of brilliance: The red name, Alex Manes: Secret agent man, The last cut is the deepest by @bestillmyslashyheart and truth serum-ish (series), the person that you’d take a bullet for is behind the trigger by @iwontbeyourmedicine /reachedthebitterend
To raise a child – @haloud, @maeglinthebold /MayGlenn
This childhood AU is a really great series and I am immensely looking forward to continuing reading the 3rd part. It is so interesting to see the dynamics between the characters in this different, but still similar world.
This is also another set of authors who have put out some great fics together as well as separate. A lot of it is distinctly more adult content, but with really great characterizations and lots of emotions. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Repeating myself, but this author is another one where again everything is fantastic! When it comes to nsfw I love, love, love their Malex dynamic – as it is demonstrated in this little gem with the boys on assignment, featuring BAMF Alex Manes and overwhelmed Michael.

Last but in no way least – If I for some reason would have to choose only one fic to read from now until forever, this would probably be it. It just completely ticks all the boxes for me. It’s wonderfully long so you can just get completely lost in it, it also has a lot of amazing scenes so if you are in the mood for something specific – angst, fluff, nsfw, you can just dip into a specific part to get a quick fix. I get frustrated with the idiots speaking past each other, I cry over Alex hurting, I get a warm fussy feeling when they start opening up to each other again – it is all so very, very satisfying!
