Rott Update

So! It's done and debugged.

It's been a long year, a hard one, but hopefully things will change and I'll be able to get back into gear and into the groove of things again (an explanation post coming soon to a theater near you).

I'm not going to lie... there's a lot here that is rough, there's a bit I'm not too proud of, but truth be told if I don't release it as is I'm never going to get anything done. FOR THE MOST PART, it is a complete experience; there should be nothing here that isn't completely playable or obviously a placeholder. If there is let me know and I'll fix that.

Keep in mind that old saves might not work with the current build. If you come across a bug and you have used an old save, you may need to restart the game to get it to work properly.

This version of the game includes the following:

The equivalent of the full first four chapters that were included in the original version of the game is now included. I've now caught up on the rewrites and will be moving onto the completely new chapters after a brief break.

You can now meet an additional three to six romancable characters with varying degrees of interaction; Lokeira, Korrin, Ettia, Ardwen, Nox, and Bex!

Train with Severa, Herron, or Spotter and potentially see a start to your own romances with them during the festival.

Speak to a messenger of the Gods?

The original dreams in chapter one were edited. Typos were fixed and some passages were changed. In some cases, additional choices were added.

A light mode has been added. It's a little bit rough and I would like to do some further changes to it but for now it's here. If you need some changes made or additionally want further colour modes added just reach out and I can see what I can do.

The relationship screen now mentions milestones in your relationships with certain characters (both romantic and platonic!)

Known bugs:

As far as I can tell I've ironed out most of the bugs but there's always inevitably some that sneak through and I have no doubt that there will be others. There's two main things I haven't yet been able to fix.

There may be some visual issue that I haven't gotten around to but aren't a priority at the moment. If you see one please let me know so I can note it down for later.

This one is a bit illusive. You may find you are unable to progress the game near the end of the final chapter. I currently cannot replicate this bug (I've tried, trust me I've tried) and thus have no idea whether it's fixed or not so... watch out.

​That being said, I'm glad to finally get this finished. I'm gonna be having a brief break before getting back into it (mostly to find and compile my old notes for the next few chapters).

When overwhelmed they become touch-averse & oftentimes find it hard to verbally communicate (when this happens they'll switch to signing - which they learned as a teen)

They used to be a huge crybaby ... now they try to keep all their emotions inside 😔

4. Lol. By now it's going to sound silly it's so obvious. My otp is and always will be Stricklake. ❤️💚 (but Jlaire comes straight after💙💜).

10. Favourite side character would be Vendel. (he totally counts, right?) He's the grumpy old goat grandad who really cares, even if he's exasperated, about the three human teens and two trolls always causing the rukus in Trollmarket.

20. I'm basic. The Hero's speech, or Destiny is a gift... Will always be what I think of when I think of Trollhunters. With Anton saying it only though.

25. Damn. Another one? Okay. Since its all we got, RoTT's ending of Jim going back in time to save everyone was the right thing to do. (only because the writers forced it, but let's not go there). Jim would NEVER not use the time stone if there was a way to not only save Toby, Strickler, Nomura, Nari, Archie and Charlie, but the world and all the civilians who died, not to mention people and allies before THAT. It would have been out of character for him not to do that. And I definitely believe everyone or some people get their memories back.

15.) most heartbreaking scene in wizards?

NO don't make me be basic on main… well. sorry not sorry. bellroc right after getting blinded ;___; yeah yeah big bad evil yeah yeah they veer right back to full-throttle anger right after but there's just—those few seconds of their armor eyes flicking back and forth, man! the little glimpse of something vulnerable behind the dread, terrible façade! i hate everything about this stupid mortal world, they said, caringly! stupid horrible bastard bird light of my heart joy of my life

30.) something i would change about wizards

god. god. those of you who have been playing along at home may have picked up that i think the arcane order deserved a little…better. at least more nuanced treatment. (especially as villains in a GUILLERMO DEL TORO PROPERTY…) but like!! it's so frustrating because the threads are there, right.

nari, a character we are supposed to sympathize with, never says the order was wrong.

she also only says what the order did "was not worth it" -after- bellroc is blinded.

are the order WRONG about the balance of magic/mundane being off?

multiple villains in both trollhunters (bular, strickler, angor rot) AND 3below (kubritz, tronos madu) are either are offered the chance to change, or are at least portrayed with SOME level of sympathy

but a combination of 1.) rushed and 2.) bad writing in wizards means we just got left with !!! NOTHIN. as much as it physically pains me to acknowledge rott: even at the end, once they've lost the only other things in the world like them, bellroc still offers jim mercy. how do you get that one thing so right and then fumble the entire rest of everything so badly, lol

Somewhere in my mind there is an au post-rott where Queenslayer goes on an adventure to find themself with Lokeira (and possible Herron, though not necessarily in a romance with either of them) where they travel the world and make it a better place and revisit all their allies who made it.

Not sure if you know about this but how about an AU where Skrael defects from the Order in ROTT (I think there's a couple posts about it in the tag)

(give me an au + i'll give you 5 headcanons)

oh, gentle anon. maybe not about rott specifically but "skrael defects" was, in fact, my original order endgame >:)

the kids think it'll be easier, two gods against one.

what they don't realize is that bellroc alone is bellroc at their most dangerous. they already think they've failed; that they've fucked up, catastrophically, something so precious as the balance of the world. with nothing left to lose, why bother pulling their punches?

(it's not like skrael thinks this is easy, either. when he first says so—a hiss cold and sharp as frostbite, perched aloof and lonely on camelot's parapets—nari only cradles his cheek in her hand, and laughs, with infinite sadness.)

morgana comes pleading alliance to merlin. maybe 2/3 of the way through? Our Darkest Hour, etc. maybe she's really "reformed," maybe she just wants to try to kill skrael herself before heading on to merlin. managing the consequent ego clash/tension is a critical distraction.

nari and skrael, together—after a long, HARD fight—might be able to get bellroc to a draw. it would be messy, it would be so, so much collateral damage. absolutely not a thing human children should be involved in!! if nari were really going for blood it would be easier but she can't help it; she still loves them, just as he does. just as bellroc loves them. but even so far in the depths of wrath and grief, they're too focused on what they think is failure to realize the world they care for is not yet lost.

so who better to shock them out of it
