Se olisi bussinkuljettaja Risto tässä terve! Ikonisten AEC:n (Associated Equipment Company) valmistamien Routemastereiden taival Lontoon paikallisliikenteessä oli pitkä ja vaiheikas. Tässä videossa tullaan luomana katsaus tähän, minkä lisäksi kerron minkälaisia versioita näistä ikonisista Lontoon busseista oli! Eikä siinä kaikki! Oletteko koskaan kuulleet uusista Routemastereista (New Routemaster)? Myös näihin tulemme luomaan pikaisen katsauksen! Kannattaa siis ehdottomasti tsekta tämä video!

The Old Routemaster Bus: risky nostalgic experience
The Old Routemaster Bus: risky nostalgic experience
CHASING THE NUMBER 12 ROUTEMASTER destined for Dulwich was something I’d got accustomed to. As it pulled away from the bus stop, I’d run as if being chased by Freddy Krueger to catch it! Health and safety was non-existent as I jumped on the back platform and grabbled the safety pole. Getting on a moving bus was challenging, but getting off was even more challenging! The whole shebang certainly…

If you could pick three DW audio adventures to make into TV episodes, which would you pick and why?
Hello kind Anon
Ooooh, now you've got me thinking. I’ll admit that I immediately thought “I know which one it wouldn’t be”, but you weren’t asking that*.
a. Somehow I feel like this was question asked to give me the perfect excuse to vote for No Place, hahahaha!
Tumblr media
I mean, who wouldn’t want to see the Doctor and Donna paying love tolls and trying to outdo each other with the gush? Plus, parts of that story were wonderfully creepy – no I wasn’t referring to a smiling Sylvia pretending she loves the Doctor, but I should have been. And the story featured Joel Fry as Justin, the presenter of 'Haunted Makeovers'! You might know him better as Frenchie in 'Our Flag Means Death'.
It's a very inspiring tale to listen to.
b. For a nice bit of social history that is normally skipped over, and a huge dose of spookiness caused by the London smog, I’m choosing The Creeping Death.
Tumblr media
It has London Routemaster buses (I do like a bus), the lovely Richard (made me think of the one with black nail varnish), and a great atmosphere. Well, a rotten choking atmosphere, more accurately, but you know what I mean.
There’s just something about thick fog that makes you wonder if something sinister is out there… And I just about remember really thick fogs occuring in London, back when I was a child (we used to get sent home early from school because of them).
c. And for my final choice of audio adventure to be made into a real episode, I’m cheekily choosing Pest Control
Tumblr media
purely because I’m dying to see how the costume department would deal with centaur-like creatures. It was the first TenxDonna audio adventure I bought and listened to, so it has sentimental reasons for being chosen, the normal marriage joke we'd come to expect in tales, and a great Star Trek joke with their names used as aliases.
But I'd be happy for any audio tale to be made into an actual TV episode; as long as it has the Doctor and Donna.
d. IF I'm not allowed that one, due to it being read rather than acted, am I allowed all of Kidnapped!?
Tumblr media
I'm sure we could come to some agreement about how much Donna Noble I'm allowed. The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned, but I know that's a wee bit greedy.
.
[* it was The Stone Rose, for anyone interested enough to ask. I got it free with the Radio Times, listened to it, and gave it away to a local charity shop]

Great Central Railway Quorn Leicestershire 16th March 2024
flickr
Great Central Railway Quorn Leicestershire 16th March 2024 por loose_grip_99 Por Flickr: Withdrawn British Railways Standard 9F 2-10-0 92214 was in Quorn yard on Saturday during the 125th anniversary weekend. The two halves of the GCR were linked by a free heritage bus service and I rode this one from Quorn to Ruddington. My bus-enthusiast friend tells me that rather than a standard Routemaster "RM121 is known as a 'Dartmaster', one of the buses that were refurbished by Marshalls of Cambridge for TfL a while back for route 13 and maybe some others. The engine is probably a four-cylinder something and not an AEC six with a new Allison auto-gearbox and not the four-speed original, and the winding windows have been replaced by hopper type".

"Bridging Rhythms: The BUS IDLING Symphony"
In the heartbeat of the city, where BUILDINGS whisper, emerges a new rhythm – the BUS IDLING, a testament to innovation blending with tradition. London's Mayor, unsatisfied with the urban chariots, sought a symphony of change. Enter Thomas Heatherwick's studio, orchestrating a design revolution, a reincarnation of the iconic Routemaster.
And as these buses traverse the urban sonnet, an anagram whispers – a reminder that in the stillness of idling, architecture meets its silent partner, pollution. The BUS IDLING, a paradox, symbolizing progress and its quiet toll on the city's breath. A reminder that every architectural note plays in the symphony of sustainability. 🚌🏙️

rating the aesthetics of buses i've seen around
since i'm so obsessed with bus routes i guess i'm doing this now (the models i'm gonna show aren't all representative of the bus routes i see, fyi) (also some of these i haven't taken, so i'm going off of aesthetics)
Tumblr media
Mercedes-Benz O530 C2 Citaro 12.0m: 7/10 BOY WHY YOU SQUARE 😭 no but really these are cool, although the lack of curved edges looks kinda funny. that being said, it would be nice if this wasn't on one of my least favourite bus routes, i can say that much.
Tumblr media
Wright StreetLite 11.5m: 8.5/10 it's cute, funny round edges, i love buses that look like this. maybe a little ugly but i find it charming bonus:
Tumblr media
Wright StreetLite 8.8m: 9/10 IT'S SOOO CUTE... so small and round. i love it... i haven't been in one before but they look really funny and cute (i've heard that these actually suck but i'm talking about the outside. and imo the outside looks very cute)
Tumblr media
Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Dart 8.9m: 6/10 it's nice and simple, doesn't too fancy, wacky or out of place... nice but not very interesting. same thing for the 10.2m model
Tumblr media
Enviro 200 MMC: 8/10 kinda like a modernised dart, it definitely has a "modern" look to it... it's nice! i like it! i think it looks cooler.
Tumblr media
Enviro 400 MMC: 5/10 the double-decker version of the 200 mmc should look just as nice right?! eh. idk. i don't like this one.
Tumblr media
Alexander Dennis Enviro 400: 7/10 this looks a lot nicer. i see this all the time. i think it is very nice.
Tumblr media
Wright Gemini 2: 9/10 oh yes yes absolutely. i love the way this thing looks. it's the same charm as the streetlite 8.8m. it is Round. i love how it is Round. it looks very nice
Tumblr media
New Routemaster 11.2m: 7/10 too Central London (although i know this is the 176 which goes to penge which is very not central london but shhhh) and Modern for my liking but i meeeaaan... three doors, with two staircases, one of which having windows??? what, am i NOT meant to have fun with that?!
Tumblr media
Enviro400 City EV: 5.5/10 boy why you led screen????? nuh uhhhh. it looks so weird around bromley, maybe it looks nicer in croydon. at least it's eco friendly, i suppose...
i probably got loads of things wrong here so if i did like feel free to correct me BTW
