i think what tumblr ultimately fails to understand is that its strength as a website lies in the fact its NOT like other social media

#ive seen a feel people saying 'it feels like tumblr is targeting us (rpers)' and while it certainly feels like that #we are most certainly not being targeted much less on staff's radar (which is kinda part of the problem) #the issue is that tumblr is trying to become like other social media like facebook and twitter #and other social media websites are overwhelmingly not useful for rpers. at least the type of rp we do here on tumblr #and thats why these updates feel like they hurt rpers the worst because social media ultimately is not set up for our needs. #but the thing is #tumblr was set up for the needs of bloggers writers and roleplayers #and artists and graphic makers and content creators in general #but now it seems like tumblr would rather cast aside what makes them stand out in the sea of basically the same culture of social media #than embrace what makes this site unique and useful for anything besides #posting bullshit memes getting into drama consuming propaganda and doomscrolling #which honestly what it feels like to visit most social media websites nowadays #ooc. #rant /

not a personal but i am a multimuse so i'll request hibiki and kasai (and leo too if you want)

Starting with Kasai because I am *slightly* biased towards Team Magma: The Unicorn.

It's cute, one of the rarer tames, and can still pack a mean kick. It reminds me more of his current journey as a coordinator than his history with Magma, but I think would have still been useful either way. It features all the utility of the regular equus, just with more style and ability to turn heads.

For Hibiki: The Basilisk.

I waffled between this and its smaller cousin the titanoboa, but the basilisk is a little better adapted for use on both land and sea. Given Hibiki's use of seviper and hit and run / poison tactics, it felt too good to pass up.

For Leo: The Tek Stryder.

The Arks are usually worlds where you have to build everything from scratch. The Tek Stryder is the best resource harvester you can get, ensuring Leo will never run out of materials for whatever he's working on next. It's also a fairly solid multipurpose beast; tanky health, decent speed, hits hard, and can even be used as a mobile base.

It needs to be said but some of y'all (the general rpc) are so anti or pro Reblog Karma that you end up being the same and you're both lowkey annoying and are why this space is so hard to exist in. Using people as meme sources is so rude and discouraging in a hobby that already makes getting traction on a blog feel like wading water and it's so tacky for y'all to flaunt the "Yeah I think Reblog Karma is cringe I'll reblog whatever I want! :P" every chance you get. In the same breath, reblogging a meme only to see a mutual IMMEDIATELY reblog it from the source right after you without sending anything is also obnoxious and it, frankly, doesn't make you any better than the first example.

RP is a hobby that is, whether y'all want to hear it or not, is a give and take hobby. If you want memes, you have to send them at least every so often. If you want threads, you have to actually do drafts. Etc. You can't just expect people to flock to you when you don't make any returning effort.

I'd say it's not hard to just copy and paste a silly sentence into someone's inbox but APPARENTLY it is since that's the reason aggro reblog karma and aggro anti-reblog karma even exists in the first place. Silly the community would rather circlejerk about how stupid reblog karma is or jump on people for not reblogging from the source instead of, idk, actually trying to interact with people but what do I know.

If you don't interact with people, they aren't going to want to interact with you and this won't change whether you're a tool who reblogs from people directly or reblogs from the source not even a minute after someone else without sending anything ever. People see, people notice, and people remember, and people are eventually going to stop putting in energy where energy isn't being returned. This is a social hobby and ask memes are like the bare minimum you can do and it's wild to see so many of y'all unable to do even that.

HM dragonlord paladin is something ive always had an eye on tbh. also i really want to play a cleric at some point, i dont think i ever have. also have a specific eladrin barbarian idea i've been stewing on for a while

Nat 20: What's the most memorable RP scene you've been a part of?

SO . probably a toss up between sid's resurrection scene in orcus or my heel turn as ward in alien. i had been trying to play his agenda veeeery lowkey the whole session, so it was Immensely satisfying to let everything deteriorate over the course of the game and then take advantage of it at the last second by shutting the captain out of the bridge. the dice were there for me too which really made the moment, because if they hadnt been i could have revealed him as an android and pushed the roll anyway, but being able to pull it off made the reveal so subtle and delicious. also genuinely one of my proudest moments of improv to say 'mother and father are watching' after he'd hooked himself into MU-TH-UR and id been trying to play him as a sort of fatherly figure. tasty connection to make

YES so . it happened with sid and that whet my beak and we did it again with adina lol.

with sid, we were in like. fantasy tron dreamspace thing, it was simulating a historical battle. so our spirits were not in our bodies, and i had sid moved forward so he could actually hit something with his spell. and he did. and then the thing he hit (a black dragon iirc) came over and bodied him. because i had forgotten how turn order works lol. and he is insta dead. no death saving throws, nothing. you die in the game, you die in real life.

when he 'wakes up' he's walking into an old dusty saloon. a familiar man in black is at the bar. they have a drink he asks what sid regrets the most, and then makes him an offer. truly an impeccable scene. sidney accepts of course, and then wakes up for real, permanently changed.
