As a Tomdaya on the bird app, who stans Tom and Z as individuals as well as their relationship, I’d thought I chime in. I agree with the anon that Z is treated very differently on the app than Tom and I find it weird. I think Z fans are very proctevtive of Z, rightfully so but they often fail to view her as a human being and put her on this bizarre pedestal that sometimes removes her humanity as an individual that I can only really compare to to Taylor swift. Disney is the starting block to ownership because a lot of fans either grew up with Z or rewatched her shows on the channel that they are the super fans today. Add in The Greatest Showman, MCU, Euphoria and Dune. Properties with big fan bases. Her music career was also very successful though cut short and had a huge impact. It’s not lost on me of the sheer volume of fame and fans she’s received being strategic and being one of a kind talent.

Tom on the other hand has MCU but really didn’t grow up in the public the way Z did at age 13. Another factor I think is a big contribution to this phenomenon is that Z encourages parasocial relationships with her fans. I didn’t think to much of this because most celebs have social media but most don’t really talk to fans unless their gen z or musicians.

They put Z on puritanical pedestals and remove her humanity.Sometimes I think they forget that they know she lurks on socials and might like or retweets accounts thus creating subfandoms that have relations to Z. Those fandoms are not bad and great if your a fan. But those ones like timdayas, hunterdaya or anyone daya who cut Tom out of everything is just so weird to me. They get annoyed if you make a Tomdaya joke cause she more than her relationship. They’re not wrong but she’s always more than her costars but they never see through that logic because it doesn’t fit their narrative lol.

Timothee used to be parasocial as well, especially at the beginning of his career. He would communicate with fans and actually create a bond with them on socials and real life. Club Chalamet is a result of that lol. After the Eiza situation, he stopped and mainly keeps interactions slim and mainly related to his next project because he saw that lines were being blurred and those fans at the time were judgmental. Idk if you remember the infamous Timothee I trusted you meme because despite general public coming for him, those stans really were doing too much lol. I think that’s why he hid his relationships from his fans because they built this idea of him when he’s just a man in his 20s figuring it out lol.

Tom fans are in three catergories mcu fanboys, Tomdayas like me lol, antis who don’t like Z. His fanbase on twitter is really an amalgamation of Tomdayas who both love Z and Tom but their small compared to Z’s or Timothee. When he gets hate Tomdaya felt the need to defend on his behalf. The reality is Tom doesn’t care. He only uses insta and avoids twitter. He healthy because he live in his own universe. However, he’s not a Paul mescal or Josh O’Connor where his work little or alot can stand out for itself whether he’s likeable or not. A lot of his fame comes from his personality or ip films. I’m aware I missed Billy Elliot, just don’t thinks it relevant on social media. Yes I loved tcr but when the rt score came it was brutal. It was shocking seeing critics who relatively have a niche on films come for him and I was just sad that ppl had this much vitriol despite the fact he’s not problematic. Both film twitter beloved Chris Pine and Chris Evans have critically failure and there’s not hate as much as Tom got that week. One thing as a Tomdaya that muted certain z fans who hate on him is that he really doesn’t care.

Him liking that insta post about him forgetting he’s famous made me realise that as a fan I should not care and just curate my account for my own happiness. I don’t engage tweets about comparison with other actors, z’s exes or costars because I know it’s bait. Toms fanbase is small so I’m happy it’s not as big as other actors. That’s why I think those fans can repost his kissing scenes of intamite scenes cause he doesn’t lurk Twitter and it doesn’t start trending. Z does so when those fans post things about her boyfriend or her exes or costars, they know she lurks and I think that’s weird. Maybe that’s why Tomdayas get on defence lol. I’m aware though some Tomdayas can be cringe. I’m not rewriting history here lol.

Well, honestly Anon.... MOST Celebrities (I feel) have realized over the years that the LESS they share of their personal life, the BETTER. If you go back 7 years....even just 5 years....and you were to go back in time and be on IG or Twitter as a fan back then, you would see that Z, Tom, Timothee, shoot....even Austin, Nadia lol, etc. ALL used to be waaaay more personable, engaging, and even posted WAY more on their social media accounts back then compared to now. I think over the years, a LOT of these celebrities (especially the ones who are fairly famous) have all realized just how toxic social media has become in just such a short time, and I think they have figured out that the less they share, the better.

Fans have definitely crossed the line, and these actors have realized that they need to put a boundary again btwn them, their private life, and their fans. That's just my own personal observation and theory. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I definitely think you should curate your online account for your own happiness and not worry too much about Tom. With that said, while he may have liked that post, we can't say with 100% accuracy that "he doesn't care" about what people say about him. He IS human after all. He might not care about ALL things, but certain things might def be hurtful.

The Ten Year Miracle Pt. 1

I just saw the guy I used to obsess over in high school, and this grew itself into my head...

A ten-year high school reunion sounded like the least fun thing ever. Philip had hated most of high school. He'd had a few friends, but none of them had been in his class. They were either older or younger.

Just for fun, he scrolled up the group Facebook message to see who all was attending. Philip gasped at the sight of one name in particular: Joshua Woods.

Josh Woods had been the most popular guy in Philip's grade, a ripped football player but also on the honor role and a pretty nice guy to boot. Every guy strived to be like him, but no one could match the perfection of Josh Woods.

Philip had been just a little obsessed with him. Whether it was the popularity or the confidence, the intense blue eyes or his massive ass and feet...Definitely the ass and feet.

Philip wasn't a weirdo; the only kink he had was a foot fetish (everyone liked asses). Whenever Josh had worn flip-flops on his size 14 feet, Philip would stare at his long toes from across the room, wishing to touch them.

Five years ago, Josh had apparently moved to California with his high school "sweetheart", a bitch named Courtney. Philip had lost all hope at seeing him again, but Josh was going to the reunion! Though he might regret it, Philip would go, too. Just for Josh.

Philip drove the two and a half hours back to his po-dunk hometown with one stoplight and one gas station. There were other businesses, but nothing important or memorable. Philip shuddered. He hated coming back here.

He parked behind the high school, took a deep breath, and went inside. Mrs. Marsh the English teacher was manning a table of name tags. "Philip! Nice to see you again, young man!"

Philip hadn't felt young in years. "Nice to see you, too."

He grabbed his name tag and pushed on to the dark, decorated gymnasium without putting it on. Philip looked around at everyone and laughed to himself.

Some looked exactly the same, some looked completely different, but most of them had gained a significant amount of weight.

Philip got a cup of soda and sat down by himself at one of the round tables. He never stopped scanning his former classmates; Josh still hadn't shown. Philip doubted anyone would recognize him, as his face in high school had been covered by pink and black Scene kid bangs.

This was a mistake.

Philip got up and went out the back gymnasium doors. A yard of fresh-cut grass separated him from the parking lot. Philip pulled out a cigarette and lit it, not even caring a little that he was on school grounds. He wasn't a student.

Philip lowered himself to sit against the wall.

The door opened, and a huge ass in black jeans walked past him. PHRRR-RT!

A fart had been ripped inches from his face. Philip grimaced at the sudden smell. It turned his stomach at once, a smell so bad it shouldn't be allowed to come from a human being.

The tall, overweight guy squatted and turned around slowly. BWRLRRRRRRR...

The guy jumped when he faced and noticed Philip. BWRT!

Philip was in shock. Few times in his life had he heard or smelled farting that vicious. He took a second to blink, shielding his eyes from the sun.

The guy's hair was almost the same dirty blond as Josh Woods, and his bright blue eyes looked very similar, as well. Philip looked to his feet. They were size 14 and currently covered by dirty white sneakers.

"Josh?" Philip stood and pushed off the wall. His heart was going to burst as he realized it was, indeed, Joshua freaking Woods.

"Crazy, right?" Josh held out his arms to show off his new body. There were huge sweatstains in the pits of his sky blue dress shirt. "Ten years and about a hundred pounds."

It didn't look bad, was Philip's first thought. His face had been changed, giving him a second chin and filling out his cheeks, but if anyone could carry it around and make it look sexy, it was Josh.

His farts hadn't left the air, thick enough to hang in one place. It had been a lot of farting, after all. Philip was still shocked by it. Josh Woods was perfect, but those farts had started to shift Philip's perspective of him.

"I'm sorry. I have no idea who you are." Josh blushed, holding out one big hand to wait for the name.

Philip stepped to his left to try escaping the fart air. He shook the warm, callused hand. "Philip Garry."

Josh looked a little lost. Philip swore he let out another small fart, but he dragged back the nickname. The jerks who surrounded Josh hadn't been the most creative bunch. Philip sighed. "Phil Scary?"

"Phil!" Josh enthusiastically pulled him into a bro hug. Philip savored it. Josh was sweating so hard, and his musk was warm and syrupy and salty.

Josh pulled back and fanned himself. "Sorry. Hold on. I'm dying, man."

Philip watched Josh unbutton his shirt, not wearing a shirt underneath. He bared his shiny chest and then the soft pouch of his belly that hung over his waistband. It was coated in light blond hairs almost matching the tannish skin.

Josh pushed the shirt off. His thick chest hung with his belly, his nipples wide and brownish pink. He had love handles and stretch marks, and still, Philip was nearly drooling.

He took deep breaths to stop his dick from jumping to attention. Josh threw the shirt over one shoulder and bent both knees BWRRRRR-RMP! He sighed and laughed, his teeth still as white and straight as they had always been. "So much better!"

Philip unintentionally took a full breath of his fart, finding it just as spoiled and toxic and sour as the last ones. He covered his nose with one hand and waved the air with the other. "Goddamn!"

"Ha-ha!" Josh chuckled, seeming proud of himself for annihilating the oxygen of another person. "I totally bombed you when I came out. That was not intentional. Trust me, you'd know if it was."

Ew. Did that mean he farted on people often? Philip couldn't recall a single time Josh had even talked about farting, let alone doing it, and they'd had a gym class together.

"Is Courtney here, too?" Philip asked, desperate to change the subject from disgusting things.

Josh laughed extremely hard, bending over. Half his ass slid out of his jeans. VRRRMP! "That one's your fault for making me laugh that hard! No Courtney. Turns out she's a total bitch."

"I could've told you that." Philip waved away the most recent ferocious fart.

"Yeah." Josh shrugged and wiped his shining face with his shirt. "Well, I also realized I'm actually gay, so there's that, too."

Philip screamed on the inside but kept his composure physically. Could it be possible? Did he actually have a chance at being with Josh Woods?

"You good?" Josh asked.

"Yeah." Philip covered with another wave of his hands. "Just stinks a little."

Josh shrugged again, his belly jiggling with the movement. "I eat too much for my own good."

Philip wasn't sure about his attitude towards gross things, but this was Joshua Woods, and now, Joshua Woods was gay. He couldn't fart all the time, right?

I left RWBY Tumblr a while back cause the fandom wasn't really it for me so don't really keep up with all the news (Tumblr is also my primary social media besides discord so I only tend to know what's happening if it reaches the news on the radio), could you give me a rundown of what the hell is happening 😳

Honestly, anon, I'm far from the best source atm because I've been out of the RWBY loop since September too, but what I do know is:

Kdin (VA for May Marigold) came forward about her treatment at RT which included, among a lot else, others using a slur as a nickname for her, not paying her properly for work, and truly horrendous crunch.

After releasing that, Kdin followed up with an apology for her own "behavior and words" over the years.

After Kdin, others like Arryn have come forward either detailing their treatment by RT, referring to awful treatment friends/co-workers suffered, or simply liking other, rather critical posts.

There's a whole lot of discussion about the crunch the workers have suffered (which is not new. We've known about that for years) and some of the higher-ups seem to be trying to wave those claims off, though I admit I've only heard about that second-hand, so take it with a grain of salt.

These confessions include one very detailed account from Ariana Filippini, one of the animators.

Josh Grelle, VA for Tyrian, has stated on twitter that they won't reprise their role so long as RT thinks "belittling BIPOC or LGBTQ is okay."

There's a ton of debate, Harry Potter style, about whether fans can still enjoy RWBY now that RT's problems have been revealed. Or, if I'm allowed to be salty for just a moment, the debate is about whether fans can still like RWBY now that they're starting to believe that RT's problems are real. The RWDE corner of the internet is understandably frustrated at being told that they were just liars out to condemn a webshow for the hell of it, only for those same accusers to now drastically change their tune. I mean, I'm all for growth. We want people to learn and change their minds when presented with new and/or additional information, but it's still quite frustrating. A very, "If you're shocked now you haven't been listening/paying attention" situation.

Josh proudly identifies as non binary, we dont know their sexuality and frankly its not our business but they have also identified as queer. So them leaving RT after everything was revealed is literally not only good for their mental health but shows they dont tolerate shit like that and respect themselves to not work for that company. it's so victim blaming, especially to a queer person in a company & amongst people that have proven themselves to be violently queerphobic. the way that rooster teeth would "congratulate" people on coming out as nonbinary like lindsey or josh, only to then act like this behind the scenes is. disgusting.

josh deserves to be in a workplace where they will be valued as a person & not potentially face queerphobic abuse or be a bystander to it. they did absolutely the right thing in standing by the queer + bipoc folk affected by rooster teeth + crwby.

Shitty people were in CRWBY too. Barbara has been exposed by employees under her for bullying them. Gavin came up with the F slur nickname for Kdin (and she didn't accept his apology), Michael did too and laughed at a joke of Ryan touching his child. Stop trying to separate CRWBY from RT when Josh Grelle themselves has said they're one and the same.

No they’re pretty different. Do you blame say Dana terrace or Alex hirsch for the faults of Disney because they ran shows for them? No. Employee and employer are different.
