Wait wait wait.. in relation to your post about Raven and when she became the spring maiden and if she had her mask going back to strq/beacon days? I just had a thought but.. what if one of the reasons Raven left was because of the spring maiden thing? Maybe she and the Oz circle were training the maiden (maybe Raven was mentoring her? Like Qrow mentored Ruby and Tai mentored Yang.. that just leaves Summer to be mentoring someone, maybe she joins Raven? Or maybe not both possibilities are interesting for her character) but then something happened (not sure what exactly, the ideas range from grim attack from Salem to a training mission gone wrong.. there's also the crack idea that the inner circle decided maybe spring was too weak but that just seems not possible at all given what we know of the characters) and Raven became spring and no one else knew about it and that was sort of the catalyst for her leaving?
Also when I was typing out that it could have been a training mission gone wrong I couldn't help but remember.. Hazel's sister died in a training mission (this is pure speculation and crack theory but.. what if she was the spring maiden? It probably isn't true but it's interesting to think about)
Ahh I'm sorry for rambling so much👉🏼👈🏼 I just got the idea and wanted to see what you think of it
okay this is my jam and i know majority of the fandom is fully behind the idea that there was an unknown spring maiden who ran and then found the tribe and i complete understand why because that's what we've been TOLD
but! i believe there's still a good chance that it was raven all along. it helps when all this information is TOLD to us in the same volume that's very big on "don't just blindly believe what you've been TOLD, ask questions and find out information so you can confirm it yourself" and since we haven't SEEN yet what exactly happened, i'm keeping that asterisk there for the time being.
[also, because sources are important and i couldn't find them for the initial post: rtx sydney 2018 (27min) and rtx 2018 (53:30min). both are questions regarding when exactly raven became the spring maiden (the latter relates to her mask more) and both get a spoiler treatment.]
back to the topic at hand: i would not be surprised if being the spring maiden did play a part in her leaving, especially since it looks like she went into hiding the moment she returned to the tribe, keeping it on the move as to make it harder to find.
qrow also says that after returning to the tribe, raven gathered quite a following, and then he assumes that the spring maiden's arrival would have only made it easier, but it doesn't sound like there was another "spike" in terms of followers that would indicate when that happened. with other similarities shared between raven and the spring maiden (running away and abandoning everyone), it's a little sus.
and i love that you brought up gretchen because yes!! raven claims to have trained the spring maiden, and according to ozpin, gretchen died on a training mission, but exact details are not known. i'm not sure how their ages would work out, since i get the feeling that hazel is around the same age as strq, so they might be a bit too close to age for raven to train gretchen—unless strq were two years older and were told about everything by ozpin on their 3rd or 4th year already. i'm not too worried about the previous spring maiden being called 'a child' considering most of the main cast are 19 currently and are being referred to as 'children'... and hey, hazel called gretchen "just a child" so that kind of works out, too, if she used to be the spring maiden.
one other potentially interesting bit here is that raven admits she was sent to beacon to learn how to kill, so maybe that's connected? like, raven is sent to learn how to kill huntsmen -> raven claims to have trained the spring maiden -> gretchen dies during a training mission, and during a commentary, apparently the writers said that ozpin is still hiding something re: gretchen from oscar.
maybe raven was just bullshitting her way through that conversation and applying her own experiences so she didn't actually train the spring maiden (i.e. little bit of truth mixed into a lie), but she did kill gretchen (who was the spring maiden) during a training mission, and that's why ozpin was being secretive about it?
also, hazel and gretchen are twins, as are raven and qrow. qrow was super committed to ozpin's cause and was the most pro-ozpin of his followers, hazel was super committed to hating ozpin. they both seemed to have a bit of a blind spot for their sisters or like, this very clear image of them in their head that they weren't super willing to budge from? so it would track if gretchen was the spring maiden before raven. parallels, ya know?
question is, though, would it make sense at this moment to reveal more about gretchen and her fate, now that hazel is dead? would it matter to anyone else, at this point?
assuming that ozpin did not tell everything to oscar, and that there is more to gretchen and what happened to her, i would say yes, it matters, and only because of what hazel told oscar right before his death:
"no more gretchens, boy."
how can oscar—or anyone for that matter—make sure of that if he doesn't even know what exactly happened to gretchen? they're a bit past of training missions, and there's already bunch of 'children' involved and ready to get involved in this war, so it would make sense if "no more gretchens" is about something a bit more specific.
okay i'm done rambling now cos i'm not even sure if any of this makes sense anymore or if i'm just jumping from one end to another. i guess this is just a very long way of saying "yes, raven totally could have been the spring maiden already before leaving and it played a part in her departure, and maybe gretchen was involved somewhere there as well."
Raytheon receives $4.4 billion contract to modernize F-135 propulsion systems
Diego Alves By Diego Alves 06/15/2022 - 3:00 PM in Military
Raytheon Technologies Corp.'s RTX business unit, Pratt and Whitney, recently secured a contract for modification and supply of engines involving F135 propulsion systems.
Valued at $4.39 billion, the contract is scheduled to be completed in September 2024. This latest modification adds scope for the production and delivery of propulsion systems for the F-35 Lighting II Joint Strike Fighter, including 152 F135-PW-100 engines and 26 F135-PW -600 engines.
In accordance with the terms of the contract, Raytheon is obliged to supply long-term components, parts and materials associated with the F135-PW-100 and F135-PW-600 propulsion systems, along with spare engine power modules and other hardware.
In 2019, Pratt & Whitney "won" a contract for the supply of 300 F135 engines for US$ 5.7 billion.
Most of the work related to this business will be carried out in different locations scattered in the continental territory of the United States.
Over the last decade, a rapid increase in global terrorism and adverse geopolitical situations across borders have increased the demand for defense products, with combat aircraft constituting the majority of this portfolio.
It is imperative to mention that the F-35 jets built by America's largest defense contractor, Lockheed Martin, enjoy a dominant position in the combat jet market. With the F-35 being one of the highest-level stealth aircraft, Lockheed enjoys a consistent flow of contracts for the production, delivery of associated spare parts and other businesses related to the F-35 jet program.
For example, in May 2022, the company won two significant contracts, worth US$ 632 million and another amounting to US$ 398 million to support the F-35 program. These contracts won by Lockheed also benefit Pratt and Whitney, which supplies the F135 engine that equips all three variants of the F-35 fighters.
Therefore, as the F-35 jet continues to dominate the combat aircraft market, Pratt & Whitney should benefit from the order flow. The last "conquest" of contract is an example of this.
The production of F-35 jets is expected to continue for many years, given the current U.S. government stock target of 2,456 aircraft for the Air Force, Marine Corps and Navy. Consequently, Pratt and Whitney is expected to receive more order entries involving the F-35 program, such as the latest, which should increase Raytheon Technologies' revenue.
In addition to Lockheed and Raytheon, which benefit from the solid production goal of the F-35, Northrop Grumman and BAE Systems are also ready to "receive" more contracts, as both are important partners in the F-35 program.

Northrop provides its experience and low observation stealth technology for the F-35 program. As a pioneer in the development of manned combat aircraft, Northrop has a tradition of providing technological leadership in all aspects of military aviation and aircraft.
Currently, Northrop has a long-term profit growth rate of 6.1%. The estimate for the company's sales in 2022 indicates a growth of 2.6% compared to the reported value of 2021.
BAE Systems' short takeoff and vertical landing experience and aerial system support the combat capabilities of the F-35. The company provides an electronic warfare set for the F-35, including a fully integrated radar, aiming support and self-protection to detect and destroy aerial and surface threats.
BAE Systems has a solid long-term profit growth rate of 7.2%. The estimate for BAESY's sales in 2022 indicates a growth of 25.5% over the value reported in 2021.
Raytheon's shares gained 2.2% last year against the industry decline of 8.1%.

this demonstrates very effective storytelling about the creative process
Focuses on details
Fluid editing
Emphasises through voiceover how the creative process is affected by the person’s individual ethos and approach to the creative process, which could also be applied to a brand
First video is only 30 seconds, but I thought it used sound and visuals very effectively to demonstrate and convey a process of creating a product, obviously this is different with lights compared to music production but it’s nonetheless a good example of storytelling about the process of creating something
Very good use of editing to utilise 30 seconds to the maximum. Transitions between scenes and music is incredibly seemless and hard to replicate.
Starbucks: Coffee Perfection -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqX4W3Rz8iw
Particularly great example of storytelling about the process of creating a product and demonstrating the passion and creativity involved (obviously we wouldn’t be making a video that visually looks like this one but it’s good storytelling about a brand)
Feldhaus Klinker - Manufaktur -
https://vimeo.com/315428484
Great example of how we might use black and white footage to create more striking visuals
Filmed the production process very effectively in a way that was extremely captivating
Also very good use of light and contrast to draw attention to certain aspects of the production process
I personally found this video to be a bit stagnant and boring. The shots start to feel quite repetitive. Without any dialogue to reinforce a narrative I personally lost interest. I think something like this is very achieveable. The use of black and white footage does enhance the visuals. However, has no function towards conveying the companies product. I feel that this video was simply completed by filming random shots around a warehouse and then compiling the clips into a sequence. Nothing about this necessarily feels thought out.

Another very good example of crafting a narrative around a brand and its products as well as incorporating their values and ethos and combining it with their production process and products they create
Good way of filming and documenting the production process as part of the brand and demonstrating its progression from start to finish in an engaging way
NEVER TOO SMALL Sydney Small Basement Apartment - 49sqm/527sqft -

Good shot composition, use of lighting and emphasis on detail, as well as demonstrating the use of the products in the video and having someone explain them (there are tons of videos like this one so there are multiple examples of this)
Biennale Arte 2017 - Senga Nengudi -
https://youtu.be/qHo7wD9hhvM
I thought this was a really good example of visual contrast, fluid camera movement and storytelling as well as demonstrating a person interacting with objects, which could be good things to consider for the brand video
Process: Kerry James Marshall -
https://youtu.be/WNiGOR4LenU
I thought this was a really good example of again capturing detail in a space, particularly a studio or warehouse setting, which could be something to keep in mind when filming in the warehouse or showrooms, also intercutting them with completed Rakumba products and potentially voiceover or a person speaking on camera
Two Generations The New York Times -
https://youtu.be/JD0xQ2ogr04
Great example of black and white footage again were we to decide to use it
Captured details in a space beautifully again
Also filmed the process of creating something very beautifully in this video
I think the use of black and white footage for this is particular effective because they are discussing heritage. I can’t exactly remeber the advert, but there was one I watched way in the passed that used b/w footage to showcase the creation of pasta in italy. The use of b/w in that context defines heritage and tradition. Something that is passed on from generation to generation and thus b/w footage establishes the sense of age and muturity. Something that is done very well in this piece.

“Extended

https://youtu.be/Byin7zoiiUU
I thought this captured details in a space and filmed spaces beautifully and particularly edited the individual shots together very well in a way using similarly coloured shots to create a cohesive visual style for the video, but also allowed for variation and contrast, they also used contrasting lighting on some occasions in the video which was very good
Crenshaw/LAX Corridor Artwork: Kenturah Davis -
https://youtu.be/5WN1WHa7qz4
Filmed the process of creating something very effectively and demonstrated how it progressed into the final piece very well
Really created a sense of telling a story through the creation of a product
I personally like this video because it’s an example of illustrating a fabricated story to gain excitement over a topic that isn’t traditionally very interesting. Introducing a new team isn’t exactly exciting. However, watching an introduction like this can get you following a team you weren’t particularly interested in before.
Even though the target audience is aimed at designers and investors. Creating a video that can gain interest into a regular consumer may give the video an advantage as it allows all viewers to be interested in a company they were not interested in previously. This gives us the power of word of mouth to spread the video from consumer to designer.
Note worthy aspects to a successful Brand Video
A clear concise narrative - if we decide to push towards a stronger narrative based film I think it’s essential to make each point within dialogue concise. Extended sections of dialogue to sound sophisticated just comes off tacky and feels like poorly used time. It also pulls the audience away from authenticity. If the company is passionate and open minded then that is what needs to be most conveyed through dialogue and shot choices in the film. If the company is punctual and efficient then again, this must be conveyed.
Associating shots with dialogue - I feel it is so important to associate every shot with the dialogue, repetition of similar shots (eg. aerial shots or manufacturing process) to simply fill out the time to allow the entire dialogue to play feels uninspired and unthought out. For the 30-60 second video this is of course very important. However, in 2-4 minutes this should also be a main focus, poorly used time will come off as boring to investor and designers. These people can recognise creativity. Therefore they should not just see it through Rakumba’s work but through us as aspiring film makers.
Shot choices to convey beauty through detail - In every example we have listed, the best of them always show beauty through the smallest details, whether it’s the marble rolling through different lighting, or the art pieces that hang on a wall. The small details create a more engaging film with many things to look at.
Vocal tone to establish Rakumba - Vocal tone must be perfect, it must display creativity and artistic freedom whilst also conveying punctuality and professionalism. (this may be hard to figure out as well as get approval)
The process of creation - This is very specific for us as it will be essential in order to create this film. We’ll need to stage most shots of the process to make the film as engaging as possible. For example with feldhaus klinker, the shots of people working on the metal with embers flying and sparks illuminating his face are interesting, where in contrast to that, the repetitive shots of cinder blocks being made isn’t very interesting or satisfying. These shots also don’t convey any personality, what I mean by that is that they don’t emphasize the heart of the company and rather just emphasizes the cogs in the machine.
Interviews - The best examples from the above of good interviews are the ones that are setup well. Good lighting, good audio, good setting. All are important. Comparing Two generations with Process: Kerry James Marshall emphasizes this well. The intimacy you feel within two generations is far more effective than Process.
Black and white footage - I think this is worth considering but it needs to be used in the correct context. Using b/w for the sake of aesthetics feels cheap. It’s an attempt to make something more appealing by removing colour and focusing on details. I agree with it mostly when it is used to define age and maturity. If we want to use it within our film, I believe we need to use it under the context that we are describing Rakumba’s history. That the lighting pieces made are made carefully, slowly and with discretion.
The announcement of Achievement Hunter’s new show “Achievement Haunter” on the Off Topic panel at RTX Sydney.
Geoff Ramsey, Michael Jones, Trevor Collins, Jeremy Dooley, Jack Pattillo, Lindsay Jones, and Ryan Haywood discuss plans for a new ghost hunting themed show in 2018.
Sorry this took so long to upload, but shout out to Jeremy, Ryan, and Michael for signing my art.
I can’t express just how wonderful it is to see their excitement, let alone how fantastic it is to hear them say that they not only love the artwork, but recognise/remember it. I couldnt believe it when Jeremy eagerly started telling Ryan about the stuff I’d shown him and Michael the day before. When one of your inspirations boasts about your skill to another inspiration - who agrees - your legs go numb and you start to shake. Brilliant!
Bonus: Jeremy adding a ‘x2’ to my program guide as a joke for us meeting twice.
At the RTX Sydney RWBY panel Anna Hullum talked about Raven and said that she struggles to connect with her on a superficial level because she makes all the choices she wouldn’t have made, but on a deeper level she connects to her through conflict, because Raven is full of internal conflict. She wants Yang to be part of her world and tries to get at her and talk her around, but she also pretends she wants nothing to do with her. She knows how to be loyal and how to uphold her ideals, but her ideals obviously aren’t Anna’s.
