Nvidia RTX 3080 Review: Still Worth It?

A decent gaming experience can be had with the Nvidia RTX 3080 despite its age. Once rare, it became readily accessible and somewhat more expensive in 2024, making it an excellent value. As the RTX 40 series arrived, it was no longer one of the best graphics cards, but if one was available at a reasonable price, it was still worth a look.

As previously said, the best substitutes for the RTX 3080 are the RTX 4070 Super and 4070 Ti Super, which bridge the mid-range price difference between Ada and the product while maintaining/improving performance. Performance is provided by an AMD RX 7700 XT, which costs $450. Costing $999, the RTX 4080 Super offers additional power and playability comparable to that of an 80-class GPU.

RTX3080買うたった

購入したのが10月下旬で、4080の発売まで一か月を切ったタイミングでしたが1年以上前から調子の悪かったグラボがいよいよヤバくなったので欲しい時必要な時が買い時と思って買いました。ずっと3070Tiを物色していたのですが、いざ買う時に目星を付けた製品と比較したらさほど値段差がなかった3080を買いました。感想ですが、Vega64に比べるとベンチスコアが2.5倍程違うらしいので性能に不満はありません。画質はよく分かりません。とにかく解像度が変わる度に画面が消えたり等の不調がなくなった事が快適です。

他の人がやらなそうなマイナーなベンチ結果をいくつか載せておきます。

スーパーパイは以前に比べたらちょっと良くなりました。グラフィック周りの負担がちょっと減ってるんでしょうか。

PSO2のオプションは前回も今回も初期値です。Windows10とありますが11です。

The new RTX 4090/4080 and the older RTX 30-series graphics cards from Nvidia are both notoriously expensive. The majority of the 30-series cards have been retired since the 40-series components are more recent, superior, and often less expensive. For example, the RTX 4070 outperforms the RTX 3080 10GB in terms of performance, costs at least $100 less, and consumes 30% less power.

It also comes with support for DLSS 3 Frame Generation along with a few other additional capabilities. Comparing the RTX 4060 Ti to the RTX 3060 Ti, the RTX 4070 Ti to the RTX 3090, or the RTX 4080 and 4090 to any component from the prior generation can all be done in a similar manner.

Really, the only Ampere generation Nvidia cards that are still worthwhile to consider are the RTX 3060 and 3050, and even then, AMD need to proceed with care. The RTX 4060 from Nvidia will be on sale in the next month for $299 MSRP. Though will miss the 12GB VRAM configuration, it should easily outperform the RTX 3060 12GB in terms of performance and power if the previously established trends hold true.

Black Friday GPU often provides better value, and it offers some great bargains in the budget to midrange category. The lowest price at could find for the RX 6600 was $189 on Black Friday, and it is now $199. If you have more money to invest, the RX 6650 XT, which costs $259, is also a fantastic buy.

Nowadays, AMD’s GPUs are all selling for less than their initial MSRPs, which makes sense given that some of the GPUs are two years old. Naturally, some of those MSRPs were raised as a result of the previous two years’ lack of GPUs.

In addition, there is the Radeon RX 7900-series, which may outperform the RX 6950 XT by up to 50% and is available for $899 and $999. As AMD would assume, this is driving down the cost of the older GPUs, while Nvidia’s prices have skyrocketed in order to “make room” for the 30-series.

Same anon: Oh I definitely agree with some of those ESPECIALLY the abyssmal performance. I think I spent as much time browsing the forums and trying all kinds of magic in nvidia control panel as I spent actually playing. I didn't get to enjoy the combat bc of those freezes as well so I played it on story mode to save the frustration. Completely agree on Cere's story being extremely interesting but I have a soft spot for Cal too even if he's a good boy protag #429326. I wish Merrin got more spotlight too. The whole Dathomir area and story was one of my favourites (the one i 100%ed despite the backtracking it required oof). Tho.. I wish that immediately after taking of her cool hood for no reason she did a 180 on everything and basically became a goth gf awkward love interest for Cal. He didn't do anything special to warrant that:/ All in all i thought the story was simple but solid which in these trying times all we can get in SW but I wish there was more of it. I am looking forward to the sequel:'D

I also looove a good boy protag (I am a naruto stan unfortunately) I just wanted just a little bit more from him. I think if he had time to develop with the crew more I would have liked him (i love a shonen protag who makes everyone good by the end lol).

Yeaahhh I really liked Dathomir also, I went there first and was sorely surprised when I realized I had to just turn around LOL.

I am hopeful the sequel has a dev team who isn't being thrown around like barbie dolls by executives LOL because I would like to enjoy the sequel.
