Foiled Revenge
Prompt: Rio comes back 7 months after Beth shot him to seek his revenge only to stumble upon a surprise…
Rio watched as Ruby backed out of Beth’s driveway and zoomed down the street. He’d arrived earlier this morning, but the house had been a flurry of activity. He hadn’t seen Beth but he’d watched as Annie and Ruby helped get all four of their friend’s children ready for school.
He’d thought about busting in. He didn’t really care if he scared the other women, but he didn’t like making scenes with kids around. He’d done a lot of things, but shooting a mom in front of her children wasn’t one of them.
So he’d sat and waited for the past two hours. He was mildly curious why Beth wasn’t taking her kids to school herself. Maybe she didn’t feel good. Well, she’d be forever pain-free soon enough.
Grabbing his gun from the safe in his car, he tucked it in his waistband and jogged across the street.
Taking the key to her house that he’d long ago made a copy of. He entered through the back kitchen door. The scene in front of him shocked him a little. Beth was meticulous. Even with four kids, she always made sure the house was clean and everything put away. Something must have happened in the seven months since he’d seen her because it looked like a tornado had hit the place. Dirty dishes were crammed into the sink and overflowing onto the counter. Toys and baskets of laundry were all over the place.
Despite the chaotic mess, there was a silence. There was no sounds of movement in the laundry room, no footsteps from upstairs, no sound of water running from the bathroom. She was here, wasn’t she? Her car was outside. Maybe she was sleeping.
He quietly headed down the hall to the master bedroom. The door was slightly ajar. Gently pushing the door aside, he slid into the room and turned his eyes to the bed that he’d once lain in with her.
On it lay a sound asleep Beth. He’d seen her sleep before but never quite as deeply. Maybe it was all those kids she had. Maybe she had to be a light sleeper just in case something happened. But right now, she was conked out.
This wasn’t how he planned on taking her out. He felt the weight of the three bullets in the pocket of his jeans. He wanted to have it all out with her. Find out why she shot him instead of Turner before he ended her life for good. Their working relationship was over. There was no way he could trust her and he knew she’d try to lie and wheedle her way out of it, but he wouldn’t let her. Not this time. She had to learn that her actions had consequences.
Just as he was about to reach out his hand to jostle her awake, he heard a soft mewling sound. His eyes darted around the room until they settled on a small body inside a bassinet on the other side of the bed.
His heart rate immediately sky rocketed and he involuntarily swallowed as his feet of their own accord dragged him across the room and to the side of the bassinet where a very tiny and very fragile human being lay.
Someone had placed a headband with a large pink rose on it around her head as if to shout “She’s a girl!” It looked silly more than anything else. Reaching down, he carefully removed the headband from the recently born infant. She couldn’t be more than a week or two old. His fingers caressed the black curls and his heart stopped as her eyes opened and hers were as mocha as his own.
Reaching down, he gently scooped her up. For a full minute, they both just stared at each other. The baby girl looked quizzingly at him as if to ask “Who are you?”
He padded quietly out of the bedroom and into the living room to spend some one on one time with his little girl.
He shook his head. Elizabeth had figured out how to wheedle her way out of consequences after all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beth woke up and immediately winced with pain. She gently pressed against the bandage on her lower abdomen. Words couldn’t express how grateful she was to her sister and Ruby for helping her out with the other kids while she was recovering from her c-section and learning how to single parent a newborn infant. Dean and her co-parented her other four kids. She had them Monday - Thursday while he had them over the weekends.
But there was no one to co-parent Gabriela with. Her father was gone. She squeezed her eyes shut in a vain attempt to stem the rush of guilt she felt. She was the reason her daughter would never know her father.
Turning her head, she looked towards the bassinet to check if Gabi was still sleeping. She was a little shocked to see that her baby wasn’t there. She’d encouraged Ruby and Annie to go home. That she’d be fine since it was Dean’s night to have the kids. She could handle reheating leftovers and taking care of Gabi on her own. But they must not have believed her and come back to help.
Getting out of bed slowly, she gingerly hobbled towards the living room. “Ruby? Annie? Is Gabi doing OK? Is she hungry?”
“She’s alright, ma. We’re just sittin’ here chillin’.”
Eyes widening in shock at the sight of the man she thought she’d murdered, Beth let out a small scream. “P-please don’t hurt her. Please give me my baby,” she said as she stumbled her way towards him, ignoring the searing pain in her abdomen.
“She don’t look much like Dean.”
Tears streamed down Beth’s face as she reached towards him, imploring him. “She’s yours. OK. Is that what you wanted to hear? Now, please. Please give her to me.”
Rio stood up and walked to the island and easily hopped up to sit on top of the counter. He shook his head and tsked. “We got a lot to talk about, don’t we?”

Tumblr media
jeon jeongguk / reader genre: hitman (john wick au), sugar daddy au, angst, crack, fluff rating: mature words: 3.5k warnings: toxic relationships, non graphic sex a/n: u guys asked and i delivered...tag yourself i’m me saying dancer in the dark was coming first....i was wrong...this is also very sweet considering part 5 will not be :D enjoy while u can!
Sometimes, saying “I love you” is inappropriate, and given your circumstances, you think it might send Jeongguk over the edge if he hears them again.
Parts: One, Two, Three, Four, Five
Tumblr media
(31) Pulling a chair out for them to sit down at the table.
Jeongguk’s not a gentleman.
Everybody knows it, and he’s not ashamed of admitting it. Half of the time, he thinks that it’s what makes him unique, at least. If you (or anybody else, even though since you walked out on him that one time, he’s been seeing all the others less and less) were going to be with somebody, then you might as well just make it different. Spice it up a little bit.
“It will be nice.” Jeongguk, because he’s not a gentleman, is not really listening to you. He sits behind the steering wheel and tightens his hand against the wheel, the other is on the clutch.
“Are you listening to me?”
“No,” Jeongguk replies. He turns the corner, and the car slightly leans you to the right.
A sigh fills the car as he pauses as a set of traffic lights further down the street.
This red light drags forever, and Jeongguk sighs instead and looks at you pointedly, “What, then?”
It takes reluctance to pull your gaze away from the pigeons near the bins on the side of the road, but you do, and you look at Jeongguk. “I just think it will be really nice to grab dinner together.”
“We do that all the time,” Jeongguk says.
“Yeah, but I don’t mean us, or just us,” you affirm, “I mean, like all of us. Family, I guess.”
Jeongguk bristles. “Family? We don’t have any family, baby.”
“We do,” you moan. “I mean. Not family-family, but family. The kind of family we get to choose. Taehyung, and Eunji and whoever.”
Jeongguk nods sarcastically, “Oh. Wrong F word, Y/N, those people are called friends.”
“Oh, whatever then,” you huff, turning back towards the window. “Forget I said anything, Jeongguk.”
Jeongguk wants to forget, but he doesn’t. Something about that line, about the way that it stuck with him: The kind of family we get to choose. He thought about it all night, groaned, and then swore and called Taehyung. Alright motherfucker, we’re going to dinner with Y/N so you better shut the fuck up, get a suit, and meet us at that fancy Gangnam restaurant.
So, it’s a Friday evening, and it feels like a Disney Channel crossover episode. Eunji definitely feels out of place in this restaurant, and Jeongguk acts uncomfortable about the way Taehyung sits opposite you, gauging your every move and word with overacted enthusiasm. Actually, all Jeongguk is thinking about is the moment that they got here.
“Here, honey, let me get that for you,” had appeared to be Taehyung’s favourite sentence to say to you; he used it when he opened the door for you, and again with the chair to the table. Jeongguk sat seething, almost red like a ruby. Eunji sips nervously from her glass as Taehyung laughs again at something you said.
Dinner went great, he would have to admit that.
“Oh, we booked the patio for desserts,” Taehyung says. One of Jeongguk’s other friends, Seokjin (who honestly came to observe rather than to fill in for the surprising lack of family at this family dinner) looks left and right to each person on the table and follows the crowd as they leave for the patio once the main courses are done.
Taehyung once again reaches for the door and lets you walk outside. As Jeongguk passes Taehyung at the door, he glares at Taehyung with eyes that could murder. Taehyung doesn’t waver but he does get the hint, even more so as you stroll towards the table. Before Taehyung can even move towards the table, Jeongguk curves in front and puts his hand on the back of your chair.
“Here you go, baby, let me sit next to you,” Jeongguk says, dragging it out for you to sit. You watch him with one raised eyebrow but say nothing. Taehyung says nothing for a few minutes but decides to get right back to it as the desserts begin. It pisses off Jeongguk to the point where his hand leaves fingerprints in your thigh, but you can’t find it in you to be mad about it.
(32) Wrapping a blanket around them when they are sitting on the couch and watching a show.
“You gotta stop letting yourself in here, it scares the shit out of me.”
“I own this dump.”
You gape over your shoulder, “Fucker, you own this dump that you call a dump but you gave me this dump, it’s my dump, don’t call it a dump.”
“Say dump one more time,” Jeongguk warns, shrugging off his jacket and ruffling his hair. It’s wet thanks to the torrential rain outside. His socks squelch across the floor because he left his slippers back at his place, and he’s not here often enough to have his own pair at your apartment.
The apartment is toasty and warm, the heating on high. Except the living room is chilly and dark, dark blue almost.
“What are you watching?”
Jeongguk moves towards your bedroom but can still hear you as he moves.
“Just this show I found,” you reply, watching the screen. “Dead To Me.”
“Never heard of it,” he yawns, and emerges from the room. He’s holding a heavy blanket in his arms, moving to the living room to sit next to you. He plops next to you and glances at the screen, wrapping the blanket around your shoulders, over your head like a cocoon.
You laugh softly, shifting it off your head and leaning up against him. “It’s American. It’s got Velma in it.”
“Linda Cardellini?” Jeongguk asks, settling back. “She’s hot as fuck.”
“I know, that’s why I thought I’d watch it, I love her,” you say.
Jeongguk wraps an arm around your shoulder and smushes closer towards you.
“Good day?” you ask quietly.
He takes a few seconds, like he’s truly trying to think about whether he wants to answer or not.
“Okay,” he admits. “Don’t care, it’s over, I’m here, don’t wanna think about work.”
You don’t push him to talk, and instead, let him sit next to you. He likes the darkness because there’s no way you can see his discomfort, his pain, the blood under his fingernails.
(33) Throwing away their piles of tissues when they have a cold.
Jeongguk travels for work a lot, and it’s no secret to anybody he knows. It was midday when he got a call, just a few words over the phone, and then he was moving out of the shower and into the bedroom to get ready.
He had told you to stay, stay until he got back. Unfinished business, he said, that would need dealing with when he got home. So you did, you stayed and he left, and that was that.
Jeongguk sighs and shuts the car door. Until next time, he thinks to himself as he watches the car pull away. Frowning, he straightens his blazer and walks up the steps to the complex he lives at and enters. When he gets to his apartment, he kicks his shoes off right away and as he steps inside, he notices that the apartment is unusually silent.
Normally at his home, his big mansion that he loves up in the hills, there’s some sort of noise. Maybe it’s the sound of the TV on in the kitchen, or the bubbles in the hot tub, or the sound of Elio prowling around the bedroom. This apartment is in central Seoul, closer to work and closer to school. He hates how silent it is, how empty it feels.
“Y/N?”
There is no instant reply. He moves across the apartment, searching silently.
“Babe, you here?”
Worry bubbles in his stomach and he moves in search of you. After searching everywhere, Jeongguk scoffs like it’s a sick joke that you’re not here, until he hears a noise, a croak and a cough from the spare bedroom.
“Y/N?” calls Jeongguk. He moves to the door and twists the handle, and is a few shuffles inside when a grottal, gross noise emerges from the darkness.
“What?” he asks.
“I said don’t come in here,” you croak out in reply, because it’s you, and who else would it be in his apartment?
Jeongguk enters and reaches for the light, pausing when you grunt in his direction. He can see you in the dim light of the spare bedroom, the sun outside the curtains, and he suppresses a smile.
“What happened? I said we had unfinished business.”
“I know,” you rasp. “But one of the kids in my class came to the lab with a sore throat, I thought I’d be fine. But, ta-da.” He can see in the light that there’s a plethora of tissues around your body, like a barrier. So many, snotty and probably damp and scrunched into balls. “Guess he had a cold.”
He grimaces, shuffling into the bedroom despite you telling him otherwise. It’s unsurprisingly stuffy in the room, a given since the room is closed off from the sunlight that bleeds behind the curtains. Like you requested, he doesn’t turn on the lights, keeping you safe in the darkness.
“Shitty kids,” Jeongguk grunts. Finding a lack of interest in the germs that breed in the tissues scrunched into balls, he moves them from the covers and tosses them towards the small bin next to the bedside cabinet. You sniffle, snotty and stuffed, and peer from over the duvet at him.
Jeongguk looks tired, as he always does when he gets back from work. He sports a brand new cut on his lip, one that will probably scar when it’s done showing crimson. There is blood on his shirt, and you know that it’s probably not his. That doesn’t make you feel better.
“How long you had it?” Jeongguk asks.
“Two or three days,” you estimate. He’s been gone almost a week, the seventh day being tomorrow. “Should go soon, don’t worry.”
He smiles, “Not worried. Did you get medicine, or something?”
You sniff once, the air hot in your nostrils. “Nope. I haven’t managed to leave since I came down with it. I only went to the door to collect soup and then I went back to bed in here.” Another sniff and Jeongguk’s eyebrows raise with amusement, “Didn’t want to infect your bedroom, so I came here instead. Hope that’s okay.”
“Sure, it’s okay,” he replies. “I’ll find something for you, I’ve got a bunch of shit that might help.”
“Really?”
Jeongguk nods, “Yeah. Stay put, buttercup, B-R-B.”
(34) Mending an item of their clothing that was ripped.
“Who even takes the subway anymore?”
In reply, Jeongguk gets an appalled scoff. “I’m sorry, not all of us are rich enough to have fucking chauffeurs taking us places.”
“What’re you talking about, you’re rich,” Jeongguk says, his voice kind of muffled due to the sewing needle between his teeth. He sits on the edge of his sofa, your skirt spread over his lap like a napkin at dinner. Down the leg, the seam is torn, showing what could have been an erotic amount of leg. Unfortunately, he’d only got a glimpse of your skin when you shuffled into his home.
As the CEO of ripping his clothes, Jeongguk became familiar with sewing over the years, figuring it was less expensive to sew than it was to replace. So, of course, when your skirt got torn on the subway home, Jeongguk tested his principles and dug out the sewing needle.
“No thanks to you,” you sigh. “You didn’t need to, by the way.”
“Need to what, pay you?” Jeongguk laughs, sewing the seam. “Come on, Y/N, it’s overdue.”
“True, but I don’t really need your money that much anymore.”
“Funny, since you needed it when you didn’t have it,” he sighs dramatically. “Anyway, it’s barely a dent out of my bank account, I wanna spoil you. You’re welcome.”
You frown, shuffling to the couch and throwing yourself over the back so that your head is by his legs. Jeongguk spares you a glance from the skirt and smiles, returning back to the work.
“Thanks,” you mumble. Nothing is said, but he appreciates it, even if he did it out of guilt.
(35) Running out in the middle of the night to get a food item they’re craving.
“I think I’m pregnant.”
“What the fuck?”
Jeongguk shoots up from bed into a sitting position, his eyes blown wide as he stares at you. Whenever Jeongguk invites you to stay at his apartment, he always keeps a light on in the evening. His apartment is in a somewhat busier area compared to his house, which is stationed in a private neighbourhood only touched by the wealthiest of the wealthy. His apartment was supposed to be for ease, for if he had to do dirty work in the city and didn’t want to tie his name to a hotel. It wasn’t often that you stayed the night here.
In the light of the dim lamp on your side of the bed, Jeongguk can make out your face. You’re still lying down, staring up at the ceiling. After he stares long enough, you look over at him.
“Why the fuck would you say that,” he breathes, like it’s an insult.
“Wow, would it really be so bad?” you ask, curious now.
He blinks like an owl. “Obviously, dipshit.”
Sigh. “And here I was thinking it would be like the movies and you’d love me.”
“Even if I loved you, do you think I wanna have kids?” Jeongguk questions rhetorically, because he’s actually already talked to you about this. Jeongguk never wants to have children. His life is constantly on the line. There is no way he’d bring a child into the world, just for them to either be used as bait, or grow up in a world without their father. He knows how that feels.
“Fair,” you reply. “Still.
Jeongguk shudders, it’s cold in here. “Wait, are you for real?” He shifts, the covers make a disruptive noise in the night, “what makes you think that you’re...you know…”
“I keep getting weird cravings,” you explain, like it’s the craziest science that he won’t understand. As soon as you say it, he feels almost instantly better. It’s not like cravings are the most reliable symptom of a pregnancy. Besides, you’re on the pill, and when you’re not, he’s safe. He’s not an idiot, he’s not about to accidentally ruin both of your lives with a few squirts.
“Like what?”
You shrug, “Really craving the Fairway to Heaven ice-cream.”
Jeongguk scoffs. Actually, it’s almost a tch under his breath. “Yeah, of course, you’re craving the most expensive icecream. Predictable. Cute, almost.” He pats your leg over the covers, “We all know Phish Food’s the better flavour, by the way.”
“Tell that to the cravings, sir,” you reply. You frown, then, “I’ll pick some up tomorrow. Maybe I’ll dream the cravings away…”
“As if,” Jeongguk barks, knowing you better. If he knows you at all (which he confidently does), you’ll press about this for the rest of the night until you fall asleep bored of trying. So, Jeongguk enjoys the last few seconds inside a warm bed before climbing out, switching on the light so it burns your eyes as the room fills with it.
“Ouch, too bright!”
“Pussy,” he smirks. “Bro, get your coat, we’re going out.”
“Oh yeah, at midnight?” you ask sarcastically, sitting up. “Where’re we going?”
“Ice cream,” he replies, like it’s obvious. To him it is. “That store down the road sells it and it closes at 2, so get your big coat and let’s get moving!”
“Are we seriously going to get ice cream at midnight?” you laugh, doing as he says.
“We both know you’re not gonna shut up about it if we don’t.”
Jeongguk grabs his own coat and zips it up. Nobody’s gonna care that he’s wearing PJ’s, and even if you’re sleepy and grumpy on the way there, it’s better than keeping you at the apartment alone. He’d have to be crazy to leave you here than he is going out for ice cream at midnight.
(36) Helping brush their hair after a shower.
You’re the best he’s had, really.
Jeongguk knows this, because he’s not stupid or blind or oblivious. Compared to the other girls he’s had, and the ones he left not too long ago, he knows how lucky he is to have someone like you. Someone who doesn’t just want him for the sex and the money. Although scary, it’s reassuring.
Jeongguk comes out from the kitchen to the bedroom where you’re sitting, hunched over a laptop watching a YouTube video that bores you to sleep. Your hair is damp and matted, left to dry as you watch. Fourty minutes into an hour video. Jeongguk narrows his eyebrows, wondering if he’d ever have the patience to watch something like that. Probably not. He barely has the patience when he works, and he has a job that demands it 99% of the time. When he can be hasty he is, but when his job is to kill and protect, patience is a must.
As you watch, Jeongguk moves to sit behind you and he sets his chin on your shoulder, boredly looking at the screen. Your eyes are glossed over, possibly not even watching at all. Regardless, he stays there and slowly rakes his fingers through your hair, straightening out the curls that are close to knots.
He still blames the video for you falling asleep, although it’s probably his fingers. He won’t admit it.
(37) Making sure to be quiet while they’re taking a nap.
It’s not just that. Jeongguk enjoys being gentle, but only when nobody can see him doing it. When you fall asleep, slouched over like a zombie, he smiles and gently closes the screen of your laptop. Whatever garbage your Uni have you watching can be watched tomorrow.
Until then, you must sleep. He moves the laptop away to the cabinet across the room and comes back, collecting you in his arms and moving you into the bed. Once the covers are draped across your body, he takes extra care to be quiet leaving the room and shutting the door. There’s some food leftover in the kitchen from dinner that he’ll eat before joining you, and you don’t wake up, not even when the bed dips as he climbs into it.
(38) Letting them warm their cold hands under your shirt.
Despite his work often demanding him to be around people, Jeongguk isn’t really a big fan of crowds. If he can get out of going out in public, he will jump at the opportunity. He just can’t see why you’re so miffed about not being with the crowds of people on the Hangang Bridge waiting for the fireworks- he’s got a balcony that looks out over the city and the river, so what’s the big deal?
“It’s all about the vibe,” you say with a slight sigh. Your arms are draped over the balcony banister, legs slowly vibrating in the bitter winter air. “As a broody killing machine, I wouldn’t expect you to understand.”
“That stings,” Jeongguk replies, closing the door behind him as he wanders back towards you with a blanket. His eyes glaze over your face as he arrives and Jeongguk rolls his eyes, “Hold your face that way and it’ll stick.”
“Heard it all before from my Mom,” you reply boredly. A quiet thanks is spoken as you take the blanket shield and snuggle closer to his chest, staring expectantly at the black sky. “What time will they start?”
Jeongguk presses his cheek to your hair. “Considering three minutes ago it was only ten to midnight, I can safely assure you that it is not time yet.”
“I’m bored.”
“Why are you so hard to please today?” Jeongguk groans. He wriggles around, “And don’t try me with that ‘I think I’m pregnant’ bullshit. Spare me the moody bitch performance for today, please?”
You pug to yourself. “Sorry. Sorry, you’re right. And I shouldn’t be so...I don’t know. I’m sorry. Thank you for tonight.”
Jeongguk shakes his head slightly. He may never understand women.
“You really that mad over the bridge?” he asks quietly, his mouth against your head. It’s hot, and you lean back towards his minimal body warmth. “I’m sorry I didn’t pass your vibe check for tonight, but I thought it might be romantic or something for us to be up here.”
You almost laugh. “It is romantic. You’re right.”
Jeongguk brushes it off. Lately something has shifted, a comfort in the air that grants you permission to be in his life as someone more important than a ‘sugar baby’. Dare he say it, but Jeongguk actually considers you a friend. Now, you’re at the point where neither of you give much of a shit about the sugar clause you wrote yourselves into quite some time ago. An unspoken thing hangs there like Christmas mistletoe, seen but prayed away.
Distant laughter and a bang grows near the direction of Hangang bridge, and Jeongguk feels you perk in his arms. As a small warmth bursts across his chest, Jeongguk hisses in the cold and stuffs his hands up your shirt, where they curve around your body to cheekily hold both of your boobs. You jump, because his hands are freezing.
“You’re cold!” you whine. “What are you doing?”
Jeongguk shrugs, “My hands are freezing. I’m keeping them warm.”
You briefly glance down at his knuckles outlined by your jumper. “Oh yeah, because I’m sure that’s the reason why you’re literally groping my tits right now.”
“They feel warmer already,” he continues.
(39) Giving them your dessert when you eat out because it’s their favourite.
On the rare occasion that guilt consumes Jeon Jeongguk, he allows his guilt to control his feet. Usually, they end up on a pathway to the bedroom, or in the car where he drives you somewhere nice, or perhaps he picks you up from school instead of cruelly leaving you to take the subway. Now that things have shifted slightly in your dynamic, Jeongguk isn’t sure what flies as romantic anymore. He doesn’t want to leave you with the wrong impression. You’ve had the talk together, the one that touched upon what the future looked like and how quite definitely it looked as though you wouldn’t be with each other, but surely, dinner overlooking the sea in Busan isn’t too fancy or romantic, right?
“Here is your patbingsu.” The waiter circles around the table and gently lays a dish in front of you. Jeongguk carefully watches over his glass of wine as the waiter also announces his own dessert, the exact same. His eyes move down to the display set before him.
He’s never really been keen on dessert, but Jeongguk is the type of person who doesn’t enjoy the idea of one person eating when the other isn’t. So he had just ordered the same thing as you had, nice and simple, without giving it much thought.
“I love this,” you sigh happily, fiddling the metal spoon in your hand and peering up at him, “This is sick. Thank you.”
“I didn’t make it,” he replies.
You roll your eyes, spooning out some of the dessert, “you know what I mean.”
Something in the beach-fronted restaurant shifts as the sun sinks deeper into the ocean, and Jeongguk twirls his spoon anxiously whilst observing the patbingsu. He’s never been a huge fan of bingsu in general, and he looks with slight distaste at the green blob on top of what looks like cornflakes. He doesn’t get Korean desserts. Why can’t Korea be satisfied with an ice-cream sundae?
He dips his spoon into the dessert, taking a polite amount and very quickly taking a bite. For around twenty seconds, he thinks it’s okay, but the aftertaste makes his whole body shudder. Fucking hell, he really hates desserts.
After a few minutes, you finally move your attention away from the scraped clean dessert dish and take a glance over at Jeongguk, who is already watching you with a lack of interest for his own dessert.
“Is everything okay?” you ask, subtly wiping around your mouth just in case. You take in the sight of his unfinished treat, “not hungry?”
Jeongguk shrugs awkwardly, “I don’t really like bingsu.”
“Then why’d you order?” you question quietly.
“I panicked,” he replies, “you ordered it and I don’t like desserts but I didn’t want you to be eating alone.”
You pause, eyebrows quirked: “I don’t mind.”
He sighs. Of course. “Well…” He twirls the dessert dish and pushes it in your direction, “Since it’s your favourite, or whatever, you can have it.”
Your eyes light up, “Really?”
“Yeah.”
“Cool,” you squeal, happily taking it from him. “Thank you~”
Jeongguk rolls his eyes playfully and sits back in his chair. Whatever he didn’t eat from the dessert he instead eats up in the sight of you.
(40) Making a goofy face until they notice and laugh.
You don’t quite know how you ended up at Jeongguk’s work, but here you are. You could probably trace it back to Taehyung swinging by to get you from school since Jeongguk felt bad he couldn’t, and to be honest, you had been confused when Taehyung drove past the turning to your apartment and kept going further into the city.
Jeongguk’s workplace is pretty big, but still significantly hidden inconspicuously to avoid attention. As you slowly wander around the hallways, you begin to daydream about where Jeongguk’s office may be, what he might be doing and what he might think if he sees you.
Quietly passing through what appears to be a recreation room, filled with tired faces who blink curiously as you brush by, you finally step out into a web of hallways that connect to small rooms walled in glass. Each is empty, besides one at the very end that bustles with tense conversation, and you’re drawn to the sound of Jeongguk’s voice as it carries through the silent hallways.
You push forward, stopping not too close to the doorway so that if somebody who isn’t him happens to see you, you can make a hasty escape.
The room is filled with strange faces, strange men in tight suits and briefcases next to their feet. A man stands up beside Jeongguk at the head of the table, his hands animated as he presses on about something you’re not well read on. Hell if you know a single thing about gun models and firing ranges. You can just about tell apart Fortnite weapons and that’s only because they’ve got colours.
Jeongguk, however, is a sight that captures your gaze. For a while, he sits with his back turned to the man standing, his eyes observing each individual around the table, of who squirm under his watch. He eventually looks back at the man, his jawline sharp and his hair styled so that it only slightly falls into his eyebrows. God damn it, he looks sexy as hell; his shirt is black, cuffed, unbuttoned at the top revealing his skinny collarbones. He’s probably wearing the tight trousers too, the ones that make his ass look good.
A thought strikes you: how would he feel if he saw you outside? While it shouldn’t, the thought fills you with adrenaline. The idea of not him but somebody else seeing you, a girl dressed in white jeans and a red shirt, your coat discarded somewhere on an office chair. Would he be mad? Would he be turned on?
Would you die?
Deciding that the worse case scenario only involved you being yelled at, you decide to dip your toes into the water and tease the sharks; you wonder how long you can hold this silly face for until he finally notices you out there.
It seems like a long shot, and you’re quite close to giving up when finally Jeongguk returns his attention to the table. Heads begin to move in conversation, and Jeongguk’s gaze passes from gentleman to gentleman until they pause abruptly, locking onto you behind the glass. For a moment, he does nothing besides stare. Perhaps he doesn’t care. Then, his eyes widen, like he’s confused and alarmed and slightly impressed. Before his disturbed posture is noticed, you laugh to yourself and run away, back in the direction you tiptoed through.
(Later, Jeongguk finds you in Taehyung’s office sitting on an uncomfortable and torn armchair, a Rubix cube moving back and forwards in your hands. You’re not matching any colours. It’s going nowhere. He smiles.
“Field trip?” he questions, making your head snap up suddenly. He slides next to you on the free chair, “I’ll skin that prick alive, you know you’re not supposed to be here.”
“I know, but I’m here against my will!” you promise, putting the cube down. “I really wanted to go home. Dead To Me episodes don’t watch themselves, you know.”
“Yeah, I know,” he sighs. “I gotta go to a meeting again, then I’ll drive us home, okay?”
You nod. “I’m sorry I distracted you, by the way. I realise now I’m actually very lucky that it was you who saw me and nobody else.”
Jeongguk laughs, kissing your forehead as he rises to leave. “Yeah, well, I’m the most dangerous guy in there, so consider yourself very lucky.”)

Describing it as being like home is actually pretty accurate yeah.
And YES! I am totally willing to talk about my modern AU.
I've been calling it the Adoption AU because Time ends up adopting all of the boys. It mostly started as, I saw an edit for a tweet someone did with Wars and Wild that involved Taco Bell (cannot remember the blog or post for the life of me though), and so I wrote a thing about Warriors sneaking out of his university dorm to pick up Wild, who snuck out the window despite his broken arm, and then got extorted by Legend in exchange for silence at 3am.
This was followed by a fic where Groose decided spray painting a public building was a good idea and got himself and Sky arrested, set earlier in the timeline.
So then I made a timeline. Twilight is Time and Malon's biological son, and he found Wild on the side of the road one day (Wild's backstory involves a bad car wreck and an underground hospital, but no conspiracy bullshit. Yet). Wild has no memory, so they keep him. Wild brings home Legend, who was told his uncle died at school before a holiday. They then also keep Legend. Malon finds Four in her barn one morning for complicated reasons, and they keep him too. Twilight finds Warriors, who is in his class, hiding in an alley one day after he ran away from an abusive home and brings him home too. SS Impa (who I've nicknamed Shield because there are enough prominent Impas here that they should get nicknames too) is a social worker who's trying to find Sky a home and has run out of options, and turns to Time, who has a record of successfully housing 'unhousable' youths, and asks if he can take one more. He can. Wild finds Hyrule and brings him home because 'Rule needs a shower even more than Wild does. Hyrule stays. Wind's grandma ends up with Wind and his sister but can't financially take care of both and so Wind ends up with the boys and everyone is +1 Grandma.
Twilight has a fic detailing how he knows Midna and Dusk and I ended up shooting him (oops) but at least their social project gets handed in on time.
Then I started hashing out Time's backstory and suddenly this AU had plot. And organized crime. And a conspiracy. And secret societies.
The summarized version is that the gems from OoT are like, Idk what they do yet. Haven't gotten to a point where I need to figure that out yet. But they are Important and have to be carefully guarded. The Great Deku Tree (just called Deku because he's not a tree here) was Time's foster father before Ganondorf killed him. Also, Ganondorf is Deku's half brother. Because. However Time 'stole' the Emerald and he and Navi ran until OoT Impa (Sage) and Lullaby found them. So Time got adopted into Lullaby's family. Ruto inherited the Sapphire from her mother who also died from mysterious circumstances, and Darunia has the Ruby. Lullaby got the Ocarina from her late paternal grandmother.
Then Ganon finds them and tries to steal the Emerald from Time, so Lullaby goes looking for help and thus finds the sages. Saria is an anonymous hacker who uses the screen name 'Kokiri'. Time reveals he didn't steal the Emerald, he was Deku's heir, and then Navi goes missing. Time is home worried enough that he's physically sick, and Ganon decides to try and attack the home. Only Lullaby's family is Olde Money, and they live in a big, old manor, so Lullaby as Sheik decides to play 'Home Alone' with the secret passages in the walls and they piss off Ganon because when did that brat get a sheikah bodyguard??? Sage and Rottla (Lullaby's mother, who is fully sheikah as well) rush home from a thing and Kokiri is running a play by play watching the security cameras.
I pull in my headcanon that Time was killed in the Downfall Timeline by getting impaled on Ganon's tusk and Ganondorf stabs him with the tusk of a mounted boar head and then Sheik shows up to protect his brother, and then Mama gets home and is not happy to find this man in her home attacking her kids. Time is fine, but Navi stays missing. (She's alive tho.)
Also, Time's foster dad was the last leader of a secret society known as The Order of The Lost Woods, and Time learns this upon meeting Tatl, who gets him sucked into another event that would probably make a good action movie. I have thought too much about the Order and it's hierarchy, but what's important here is that Time ends up with a standing job offer and Tatl and he remain friends and we find out how I fit FD into this AU. It's not pretty. This is where Time loses his eye too.
The AoC came out and I added that Link in as Wild's twin brother and he shows up during the main plot.
Which starts with Twi getting kidnapped. (I'm not really meaner to him than the others, I swear, he's just the most logical choice to be Time's heir. Which he is. He doesn't know this though.)
So he's kidnapped by Ganondorf, who broke out of jail, Zant, who shot Twi in highschool, and Ghirahim, who has some history with Sky I haven't fleshed out yet and a very public rivalry with Warriors over twitter. About six weeks later Sage finds him in an abandoned warehouse (because of course) with a shackle on his left arm and a lot of new injuries. He ends up fine, but he tells Time later in the hospital what happened and he's both message and messenger and Time is this close to just committing murder. Tatl talks him down.
Somewhere here is the half finished fic where I introduce AoC Link as Luke/Knight, and this is as far as I've plotted thus far.
Other tidbits: Wild and Lullaby/Sheik are both genderfluid, Lullaby/Sheik married Ruto, Wild has a very popular YouTube channel, Twi does drag racing sometimes, Sky has a pet bird, Four has DID to explain how the Colours are here too, and Wolfie exists in the form of a random wolf-dog Wild found and brought home that Legend somehow convinced half the family was Twilight. Also, Warriors has somehow befriended an entire sorority and he doesn't know how this happened.
This... got long. As you can see I have a lot of thoughts about the Adoption AU. It's gotten a bit away from me, I'll admit. This went from 'Wild does stunts on his motorbike and keeps breaking bones but somehow not the bike' to 'Twilight got kidnapped and Time is the target of a mafia that Ganon runs and also maybe killed a man once' and I don't know how that happened. Also, this is the condensed version of the summary. My actual summary/outline is much, much longer than this. So if there's any detail you want more on, feel free to say so and I'll happily go into more detail (there are so many things I didn't even mention....)
And yes, Robbie having a bong is very important to my best friend, for some reason. He has one in a modern AU and he probably invented one in canon. I happen to agree that this makes sense for his character, if anyone would invent a bong in LoZ it's Robbie (this is such an anticlimactic end to this ask after the stuff about the modern AU...)
Also, sorry for the long ass ask. I genuinely don't know how to condense the Adoption Au down any further. There's a lot of important plot beats to cover, and I still skipped things.
-Attllhak
oh my GOD???? if you ever write and post this somewhere id love to read it, the level of "crazy" conspiracy/action movie elements implemented sound sosososo cool, from Ganondorf being Deku's half brother to trying to "send a message" via Twi and- just- all of this is SO good.i sat here and reread this ask like 3 times as if that would magically spawn more info about it ahaha
there's so much to unpack here but it's honestly so worth it i love every single detail!!! i can imagine the actual outline being way longer, nad honestly that just makes me the more excited/curious about all that might be missing from this ask - i cant believe it started with Wild and Wars going to Taco Bell of all things
also i can totally see Robbie making a bong, no matter the setting or AU. fits him a lot I'd say
and dont worry about long asks!! i adore opening up my askbox to see one ask take over the entire thing, it makes me really happy aha

Dinner?
[Smut]
It was a regular day at Beacon Academy. A little rain, a tad stuffy, but bearable. Jaune sat on his bed in a white tank top and uniform pants. Being a leader meant he got one less class than his teammates so he could organize their gear and come up with tactics for them. It was sorta a class, but not in the traditional way. Jaune was even sure he got graded on it somehow. The only hard part about it was the occasional bullet that shot into his room from across the hall. You would think Ruby knew how to handle her own sister’s weapons with extreme care.
Jaune nonchalantly wrote down the inventory of ammunition when his dorm room door swung open abruptly. Nora walked with her shoulders slouched, textbooks in her arms, and head held down. The normally energetic plopped the pile of books on her nightstand before belly flopping onto her bed. A mighty scream came from her and bombarded her pretty pink pillow.
“AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!”
Jaune didn’t know how to take that. He slowly put down his pen and paper and got up to shut the door before someone or something got curious. Stray bullets already get in easily. He didn’t need to add people who would be curious about the sound of murder that Nora let out. “Ummm, you okay Nora?”
“School sucks…” she muffled, still face down in the pillow. She felt her mattress sink in slightly. Her head popped up to see Jaune with a raised eyebrow.
“You’re just now figuring that out?” He responded, half jokingly and the other being completely serious. “Tell me what’s wrong. Who do I have to get Pyrrha to beat up?”
Nora chuckled, “you saying I need help beating someone up?”
“That’s a fair point. I don’t know what I was thinking. If it isn’t a person problem, then it’s a school or Ren problem.”
“Is Ren not a person?”
“Not a person you want to beat up or anything like that.”
He got her there. Nora couldn’t imagine hurting a hair on that sleepy ninja’s head, but he was part of a greater problem. “I already said it, school sucks! I thought it would be more...everything! It’s mostly just work though and trying to stay awake! How do people do this for basically two decades!? I’m half a year in and overwhelmed.” She let out a sigh.
It was easy to forget that Ren and Nora fell into the category that didn’t go to combat school or regular school. They simply survived for years until coming here. It was amazing actually. Jaune studied pretty hard and yet his grades were usually right behind there’s. Not to mention his complete lack of combat experience for obvious reasons. Still, he knew what school was, how the game was played. Nora probably only had the perception of tv and books to paint the picture of school. Not the most reliable medium by any means.
“Yeah, school can be a lot to deal with. Honestly you’re doing amazingly. Ren too.”
“Ren is pretty good at most things, except socializing.” Nora said bitterly. “He’s not the best at any social thing really.”
“Then there’s you, the social butterfly.” Jaune watched Nora spring up suddenly. She grabbed him by the shoulders and stared intensely into his eyes.
“That’s just it, I can’t socialize with anyone outside of this team and RWBY! Everyone either doesn’t click well or thinks I’m too much!” She shook him. “I’m stuck in a bubble!”
Jaune grabbed her arms to stop the shaking before he got nauseous. Nora had realized that she might have crossed into “too much” territory again and laughed nervously. “Sorry.
“It’s fine.” He said, holding his stomach for a second. “Is the bubble you’re in bad or something? I mean, it has seven cool people in it.”
Nora narrowed her eyes. “I hope you’re not counting me because it’s my bubble, instead of excluding yourself as a way of saying you’re not cool, right?”
“I don’t think that’s important to this discussion.”
“Hmmm, we’re talking about that later. As soon as Pyrrha and Ren get back from town. They wanted extra tool kits.”
“You didn’t want one?”
“Jaune, it’s raining outside. It just might thunderstorm and I’m a human lightning rod. I’m not about to carry metal tools in the rain, then get on an airship.”
Jaune made a mental note to stand so far away from Nora if a situation happened where they are caught in a thunderstorm. Nora finally kicked off her shoes and undid the shirt ribbon. Nora also flung off her blazer and unbuttoned the top three buttons of her shirt. Today was just too stuffy for the multiple layers of restraint. Even if the uniforms were cute. She breathed a deep sigh of relief, finally more comfortable. At the corner of her eye, she caught Jaune’s eyes dip down for a split second before looking away. “Huh…”
“What?” Jaune said as he turned back around.
“Nothing, just thinking. Anyways, I guess I had this grand vision of school. Tons of friends, classes that weren’t boring, sports, guys flirting with me; maybe even a girl or two as a shock value.”
Jaune raised an eyebrow. “I thought you liked-”
“No! Well, it would be nice admittedly, but Ren is doing his own thing and I’m doing mine. If he wanted to date me then he would’ve done it ages ago.” Nora sighed. Clearly she was a little bothered by that fact. She leaned backwards and did that weird sound whenever a person’s lips flap real fast. Jaune followed suit by laying next to her and mimicked the noise.
“If it makes you feel better, school isn’t panning out exactly how I wanted to either.”
“That doesn’t make me feel better Jaune. It just means we’re both unsatisfied, you dummy.” She elbowed him. “You’ll get the hang of combat. The best is training you.”
“I know but it isn’t just that. I’m fine with our friend group, but I do wish I could not look like a complete joke to my fellow peers at all times.”
“Confidence is key.”
“Ugh, you sound like my dad. Confidence is in short supply when you always try and whiff, terribly.”
“Weiss…?” Nora hesitantly said.
“I was still talking about things in general but yeah sure, we can stab the sore spot.”
“Sorry.”
“Eh, it’s fine. It doesn’t bother me that much anymore. I was a little annoying. I can admit that.”
“Yeah… but she’s also just kinda rude to you. I think you could do way better than the ice queen. I mean you’re handsome and tall. Sure you’re dorky, but-”
“Wait wait wait, you think I’m handsome?” Jaune questioned. He wasn’t expecting her to say that.
“Of course, do...do you not think that?” Nora watched Jaune shrug his shoulders in confusion. “What do you mean you don’t know!?”
“No one has ever told me that so I just sort of assumed wasn’t or average I guess.”
“Are you trying to tell me that your seven sisters and mother have never called you handsome?”
Jaune rolled his eyes playfully. “We both know that doesn’t count.”
She nodded. Nora just had to make sure. “Yeah well anyways, I think you’re handsome. I’m sure other people do too.” Both of them stopped talking for a moment. Nora fidgeted with her fingers while toying with a thought that was at the forefront of her mind. “What about me? Being beautiful, I mean.”
“Oh that’s easy, of course you’re beautiful. Anyone would have to be crazy to think otherwise.”
“I don’t see any boys trying their luck. Maybe I really am just a lot to deal with?”
“If someone likes you then it isn’t ‘dealing’ at all. It’s accepting and loving that individual for who they are.”
“W...wow, that was unexpectedly deep. So, you don’t ‘deal’ with me or think I’m too much?” For some reason, Nora was nervous about his response.”
“Sure you’re energetic, but like you said, I have seven sisters. I’m used to being energetic and bubbly. You like having fun and it’s not your fault sitting still is hard when you’ve been on the go all your life. I think you’re just fine Nora. I wish I could have half of your enthusiasm. Now that’s real confidence.”
A bright pink blush came across her face. That had to be the sweetest thing someone has told her. Nora felt so moved by it. “Thank…” she said, the words slipping out. “I think you’re pretty great too. Ever since initiation.”
Jaune cringed, “I was constantly flying through the air for one reason or another. How did you get the impression of me being great.”
“You didn’t run away. You stood by us, planned for victory, and even fended off some attacks. I knew I saw a fearless leader from the get go. I’m glad to be on your team.” Nora smiled.
Now Jaune was blushing a little and “thanks…” was also all he could say too. The two turned to look at each other quietly, their eyes fixated on one another.
“Jaune, by any chance, do you think I’m physically attractive. As in my body.” She wasn’t sure why she was asking the question after the glance earlier but she just had to hear him say it.
“I do.” Jaune stuttered, “You a- are very attractive.”
“What part?”
“Huh!?” His heart started racing. “What’s with the sudden game of twenty questions?”
Nora sat up and pulled Jaune up with her. Nora grabbed his shoulders again and positioned herself on top of his lap. The two of their faces were now crimson. Nora dragged her hand down to Jaune’s chest and felt his heart race and he shivered a little bit. “I like your chest the most I think. I can tell you’re training seriously. Try not to get too buff though. You can move your hands too, to what catches your eye the most.”
Jaune wasn’t sure what to do. His hands felt like stun until the sound of Nora giggling lightly snapped him into action. This was fine. This was going to be fine. Jaune thought about it for a moment. Hips, thighs, toned stomach, a chest that basically rivaled Yang. There wasn’t a bad part of Nora anywhere. Jaune finally settled on her thighs though, before his hands went further up to Nora’s butt. She let out a yelp by surprise. It was really cute.
“Funny, I thought you’d go for tits.”
“It was a really hard decision.”
Nora shifted closer to Jaune. Their blush increased. Nora could absolutely feel something poking her thigh. “It’s not the only hard thing either.” She took her left hand and grabbed her leader’s clothed shaft. It didn’t stop him from letting out a subtle groan, or throbbing. Nora bit her lip softly. Jaune was turned on, and it was for what she was doing. “Want me to help with your confidence?” Nora said, her voice slightly shaking and fueled with teenage desire.
“Are...you actually okay with-” He was cut off by Nora’s lips. She pushed against him freely until Jaune started pushing back, slipping his tongue in eagerly. His grip on Nora’s ass got firmer while she started wrinkling his shirt. It was impossible to deny they were both horny for each other. The kiss unfortunately ended to get air.
“Confidence rule number one: Don’t second guess a woman who’s grabbing your dick and asking you to touch her; hell yeah I’m sure…” she put her arms around his neck and claimed his lips again. It wasn’t long after that her hips moved back and forth on their own. Jaune let out a grunt Nora didn’t know he could make. She pulled back again and puffed out her chest. Jaune got the hint and made quick work of her shirt, then removed his. Seeing Nora wearing a frilly pink bra wasn’t something he thought would be happening today, but here he was. Her entire body radiated heat and looked soft, despite the power that it held.
“Does Mr. Seven sisters know how to remove a bra, or does he need help?” She egged on.
“Let’s not bring up my family while I’m doing this.” Jaune’s hands went to the strap. It took a couple seconds but it unclasped without fail. The fabric was removed and gave Jaune the sight of Nora’s boobs. The orbs were definitely rivaling Yang’s and Nora’s light pink, slightly puffy nipples made him very anxious. It felt like staring at a goddess. Nora took his hand and placed it on the right one. Jaune’s fingers sunk into the soft mound immediately. He started slowly groping and massaging it, earning a gasp the most his index finger traced around Nora’s nipple.
“They’re sensitive…” she gasped again, feeling his other hand come to keep the left one company. Jaune pushed them together and kept rubbing them firmly. Nora could only whimper as Jaune kissed her again. His tongue was invited in again to claim Nora’s mouth without fail. The grinding became more and more difficult to handle as Jaune and Nora kept their liplock. Minutes passed by before Jaune fealt Nora breath heavenly against his chest until her legs clenched and let out a whimper more intense than the others.
“Mmmmmmhhhh~” Nora started to calm down a little before realizing what just happened. She broke the kiss to see Jaune stunned. His pants were stained, heavily. Not to mention her underwear. Nora covered her face,“sorry, I have a short fuse.” She confessed. “I can still go for sure but...I didn’t think I’d get this wet so fast.”
She got off of Jaune quickly and removed the rest of her clothing. Being completely naked was less embarrassing than what already happened. Except for removing her panties. Strands of her arousal clung to the fabric briefly and ran down her thighs. The way Jaune was hypnotized by the glistening pink flower only made her body feel hotter. Therefore, keeping her wet for him. But Nora needed to do something first.
The beautiful woman walked back over to her leader and got on the bed with her hands and knees. She gave Jaune a quick kiss before leaning him back and pulling off his soiled pants. Jaune couldn’t say a word as he watched Nora pull down his boxers, springing his erect cock straight up. Nora marveled at the six inch phallus. Jaune let out another groan as she grabbed it, slowly jerking it. “Do you like that?” Nora moaned.
“Yes…” Jaune had never been this excited before. “I love it…”
“Then you’ll love this.” Nora kissed the base of his shaft, sucking lightly on it as she slid her tongue up to the tip, then wrapped her mouth around the whole thing.
“Nora!” Jaune gasped. Nora eagerly sucked and slurped on her leader's dick. Her tongue swirled around it and she held his heavy balls. The vibrations of Nora moans and his leg twitch every time she sucked a little harder on the tip told her that Jaune wasn’t gonna last long. She was hungry, craving his taste. Nora’s free hand made its way down to slide inside herself as Jaune placed a hand on top of her head. Her heart started racing faster and her mind zoned out as his hips rose to meet Nora’s soft lips. Nora took him all the down her throat one more time before the man reached his limit. Jaune groaned in ecstasy as he shot ropes of his pent up cum down Nora’s throat. The girl never stopped her assault. Nora slowly bobbed her head and sucked as much seed as she could, reveling in the sounds of Jaune being pleasured like he never had before. Nora finally came all the way, licking his sensitive tip clean as her lustful eyes met his. She ran her finger across her lips and went back to slowly jerking his still very hard erection.
Nora gave a smile full of pride. “You should see your face. You’re as red as Ruby's cape.”
Jaune didn’t doubt it. He was still catching his breath. “Nora, That was...fuck. Why are you so good at that?”
Nora played with her, a little embarrassed by the question. “You may have filled my mind a few times when I was alone in the shower. I’m living out those thoughts right now.”
“You think about me?”
“Like I said, I think you’re pretty handsome. I know we’re both new at this but our first round should last longer now that-eep!” Nora yelped. Jaune had pulled her leg unexpectedly and put her underneath him. His left hand put both of hers above her head slowly, before holding them down by interlocking his fingers with her own. Nora quivered as Jaune’s fingers spread her open and rubbed her soaked entrance. A single digit slid in to be immediately wrapped by immense tightly. Nora craned her neck up, letting Jaune kiss and nip along the tender skin and collarbone.
“Jaune~” Nora moaned. Her body never felt so hot. “Don’t tease me, I want it. I want you.”
Jaune was ready to fulfill that wish, but a single thought bothered him. “I know we talked about that first rule but you’re safe right? I don’t have protection”
“Hehehe, relax, it’s a safe day. Kudos on asking though.” Jaune smiled and gave her a gentler kiss. The fact that he did that after what her mouth was just on only made her heart flutter. “Please fuck me already…” The heat from his length pressing against Nora made her feel so weak in the best way possible. She could break out of this pin so easily but had no intention on doing so. Slowly the tip pressed into her. Inch by inch made her breathe quicken as a feeling more electric than lightning shot through her in waves until Jaune was buried inside her constricting walls. Then sensation of their skin against each other only made things more intense. “I feel so full…” Nora whimpered. There was no real resistance with how wet she was.
Jaune dared not to move immediately. This feeling was way too much. The soaked heat of Nora’s walls beckoned him to move through with intense lust. “Nora! You’re so tight!” Jaune rocked his hips forward and could only moan with Nora. She had gotten tighter.
“Jaune! Move!” Nora cried out. She didn’t need to ask twice. Jaune tried to go slowly but couldn’t help himself to start thrusting into Nora’s pussy to the point wet slaps echoed through the room. Jaune released her hands and Nora pulled him into yet another makeout session that could hopefully contain her from screaming. It didn’t do much with Jaune grabbing her waist. He got up on his knees while raising it. Nora could barely see the look of lust on Jaune’s face passed her boobs, but felt him as his dick started ramming straight into her and pressing against her womb.
“Ah fuck! Jaune! Y-You’re-aaaah!” Nora couldn’t think. She could only feel the pleasure Jaune was giving, her own arousal dripped down onto and coated Jaune’s dick; spurring him on to keep making her bed rock. Nora could feel herself getting closer to the edge. It felt as if a knot inside of her was getting pulled tighter and tighter. Every thrust, every touch, every noise; it slowly kept stacking up to the point her nails dug into sheets in a desperate attempt to cling on to anything. Until finally…
“JAUNE!” She snapped. Nora’s orgasm hit her body like a train, tensing up her entire body and gripping Jaune until he couldn’t take it anymore. Despite their earlier talk, Jaune pulled out and came right on Nora. Unleashing thick beads of white that reached to her chest, all the way down to her throbbing red soaked pussy. It was still quivering and leaking like a faucet, but her attention was too busy focused on controlling her breathing and feeling Jaune’s hot load on her skin. Nora got some off with her finger and let Jaune watch her lick it like a dessert. “You came on me.” She gasped, trying to breathe right.
“Yeah.” Jaune gasped as well. “Better...safe than sorry.”
“I guess, but…” Nora kept her legs spread. Gently she rubbed her clit as her face was gaining the same level of red from earlier. “I wanted my leader to mark me up. “ Nora could see how much Jaune’s dick was still throbbing, excited her. Both were thinking the same thing, one more round. They knew their teammates could come in at any time but they didn’t care.
“I’ll mark you this time. Jaune said, getting excited at the idea. It got even better when Nora turned around. His teammate got on all fours and rested on her forearms. She looked back at him, waving her magnificent ass enticingly to get what she wanted, Jaune back inside of her.
“You said my ass was your favorite part right?” She lightly painted. Nora watched Jaune get right behind her and teasingly rub his tip to tease her, before spreading her out again. “Ah! It feels bigger like this!” Her pussy kept spasming and Jaune’s hands gripping her ass only made her want to cum faster. Jaune began thrusting into her yet again. The wet slapping of his hips crashing into her again made Nora’s arms want to give out. “More~” she moaned, arching her back further. Nora was about to drop her entire upper body down to the mattress but Jaune had other plans. His strong arms went under Nora’s and squeezed her breasts. Jaune made her stand on her knees while he did the same, fucking her deep. Jaune pinched her nipples enough to make her jolt. Nora’s head leaned back on his chest and she could only look up at him as she squirmed.
“You’re so sexy.” Jaune moaned. His right hand traces her gorgeous body down to her clit. Nora wasn’t ready to feel him press up against the hood of her swollen clit.
“Ahhh! Jaune!” Nora reached up and all but guided his tongue into her mouth with a kiss that could only be described as lustful. Any decency left was completely abandoned as Jaune and Nora held that position. All of her buttons were being pushed and they all made her tighten around Jaune’s cock . Jaune felt her ooze down his shaft. Knowing how good he made her was a high he didn’t know he needed until now. To think Nora Valkyrie would be into him was like a dream he didn’t wanna wake from. Jaune broke the kiss and whispered in her ear, “I’ve thought about you too.” He said, kissing her ear.
Nora whimpered and whined when she felt him pound harder after his confession. His hands held her firmer in place. She was sure he’d leave red marks all over her. “Am I as good as you hoped?”
“Better, you’re so much better Nora!” He could himself reach the end of his rope. “Fuck I’m gonna cum!”
“Give it to me! Cum in your teammate. She’s cumming for you!” Nora gasped, sweaty and on the edge again. Jaune captured her lips again to control their moans. He got several more blissful thrusts before he hilted himself in her, climaxing. The sudden warm feeling of Jaune unloading inside Nora pushed her over the edge and made her walls squeeze down on the shift to get all Jaune had to give. The two held each other tight, shivering as their shared orgasm went through their bodies. Jaune slowly kept rocking his hips to draw it out as he made out with Nora. The two finally fell over. Jaune caught himself so not to crush Nora underneath him. She could still feel him inside as they desperately caught their breath.
“That was...everything!” Nora tiredly laughed. “Hot damn, I’ve never felt like that before.”
“Same here.”He kissed the nape of his neck and laughed.
Nora felt Jaune slowly start to pull out her. The sensation still gave her chills beyond belief. Her high sex drive was working over time. What surprised her though was the slow plunge but into her. Nora gasped, turning around to see Jaune still breathing heavy, but with eyes that adored her. “Let me too this time.”
Jaune smiled and got off of her. Nora felt like she couldn’t move fast enough to straddle Jaune again and spread herself on him. She made Jaune lay on his back again and his hands grabbed hips, while Nora leaned forward to put her hands on his chest. Jaune was mesmerized by the view of Nora’s flushed body as she began riding him. Her boobs bounced up and down in a rhythm of slamming down onto his cock. Nora’s toned thighs were on display too. It wasn’t long before leaned back and groped one of her boobs, giving Jaune a shown.
“I’m not gonna last long.” Jaune groaned, thrusting up into her. He missed pressing against her womb. “Fuck~”
Nora smiled devilishly. Her hands went through her hair to give Jaune a perfect view of everything. It fired her up to see his eyes fixated on watching her envelope his twitching erection. She wasn’t gonna last long either. “Just a few more minutes!” Nora moaned, closing her eyes and biting her lip. “Let me ride my leader's cock a little longer.”
Jaune could tell Nora really got off from being on the same team. Truthfully, he could completely understand. The two only lasted two more minutes at best before having their final orgasm. Nora felt her energy drain, laying right on Jaune’s chest. This time she felt him slide out all the way. He is most likely soft again. Nora looked up to see Jaune absolutely tired. His hair was sticking to his forehead and everything. Jaune reached over the side of the bed to feel around for his pants. Once he found it, he pulled out his scroll and started texting.
“Who are you texting?” Nora asked.
“A leader should maximize his time and take advantage of opportunities. I just texted Pyrrha and Ren the list I made of ammunition we need.” He smiled when they texted back with a thumbs up. “There, now we don’t have to move for awhile.” Jaune sunk into the bed while Nora laughed.
“So….umm, is this a regular thing now?” She asked. “I know you just kinda threw you into this.”
“You really did, I mean you could’ve at least bought me dinner first.” He joked, holding her close. “You know you should really have more confidence.”
“Oh ha ha, I can’t believe I’m dating a wise guy. Italian?”
“Hell yeah. Just let me lay here for a second.”
“Don’t have to tell me twice.”
The two comfortably enjoyed the afterglow of their surprised sex session. Across the room, the leader of their sister team could only stare at a blank piece of paper, too flushed by all the sounds she heard.
“Stupid Jaune.” She thought, covering her face. “And he thought gunshots were loud!?”

The bowling league was in lean attendance due to a surprise snowstorm, but that didn’t keep Singers’ Slingers from mopping the floor with their competition. Dean ended on a spare in the last game, putting him just over his average for the night. State bowling wasn’t until spring, but if they kept up their momentum Dean was sure they could place well. And a weekend away would be a welcome break from his usual exhaustion.
Dean still owed Mick a rematch from last year’s trip. Mick drank him under the table and Dean didn’t want to lose two years running, he had a reputation to uphold afterall. Bartending had cut into his training time, among other things.
Ash was the first one to bow out for the night, knowing his side towing business would be busy with vehicles in ditches for however long the storm lasted. Cas bummed a ride with Mick, since his car had never done well in this weather and he was still dragging his feet on upgrading. Dean knew he had been hinting at shopping around, but Dean wasn’t going to push the topic and get dragged into helping or finagling with the salesman for the guy. Cas could figure it out on his own, and Dean was finally in a place where he felt comfortable letting him. Huh.
Sam had been quiet all night, but Dean hadn’t mentioned it, attributing the sour mood to post-break up blues. They bought Bobby his weekly drink, “team dues” as he called it and settled in along the bar.
Dean kept the conversation going, trying to keep the mood light, but Bobby was too tired to ham it up and Sam was not amused by his brother’s antics. Once Bobby polished off his last beer and headed home to Ellen, Dean was rolling his eyes in exasperation.
“Fine, you know what, I’ll reel it in, don’t want to interrupt your sulking,” Dean muttered after another joke fell flat. Sam winced at Dean’s jab, which Dean instantly regretted. Though it did seem to shake Sam out of his funk, if minutely.
“So, tell me about Benny,” Sam brought up with elephantine grace.
Dean stared at Sam like he proclaimed he was quitting the law firm and joining the circus, coulrophobia and all.
Sam huffed. “What?”
“Nice segue there, counselor,” Dean grumbled. “What about him? Hmm, you want a new bowling bag? Because that was already on my list for you for Christmas.”
“Dude, you don’t have to do that. I mean, that’d be great, but no, I was kind of wondering what your deal was? Like do you hang out a lot?” Sam started fishing.
“Yeah, totally, everynight,” Dean deadpanned. “I mean I only work two jobs when I’m not moving your sorry ass back into Mom and Dad’s.”
“That’s not what I meant,” Sam said, waiting to figure out where he was going with this line of questioning and just shot in the dark.
“What I’m trying to say is, is this, like, a Cas thing?” Sam choked out, unable to put it any more delicately.
Dean burned with shame as his hackles raised in defensiveness. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
Sam cocked his head and pursed his lips, unamused and unimpressed. “You know what I mean, man. Don’t make me spell it out.”
Dean wouldn’t budge, he dropped his beer with a thud. “Well, you’re gonna have to, because I have no fuckin’ idea what you’re talking about.”
“Dude!” Sam shook his head and rolled his eyes.
“The fuck is your problem? You got something to say, just say it, Sam.” Dean fumed, daring him with a murderous glare. Sam inhaled pregnantly, face still inching towards bitch mode. Sam eyed the bartender who was trying not to listen and the late game bowlers who suddenly decided they could catch up lane side instead.
What Dean didn’t realize was that he needed Sam to say it. He yearned for it, for his truth to be spoken, and known without him having to say it himself.
“Look, I know this isn’t something we talk about. But, I just want to make sure you’re okay. Alright? In the beginning with Cas, it was like you were obsessed, man. And since he just always seemed to need something from you. I just want to make sure you’re not getting used, I guess,” Sam unraveled the heart of his concern without saying too much, which Dean was not expecting, at all.
Dumbfounded, Dean retreated, annoyance trumping any chance at relief.
“I think I can handle myself, thanks,” Dean spat. Petulantly, he took a sip from his beer, the cold glass solid in his hand, giving him something to clutch or even throw, if it came down to it.
“I didn’t say---,” Sam broke off. “Fine! You know what? You’re on your own. Just remember that I should have listened to you about Ruby and now I’m paying the price for my own stubbornness.”
Sam stood and reached for his money clip, tossing an extra five on the bar for the dramatics. He gave Dean one last chance to come clean, to own up to what they weren’t saying. Dean stared straight ahead, eyes unfocusing on the liquor labels behind the bar as if Sam had already left. So he did, just as he came: pissed and questioning his brother’s motives.
Tumblr media
Dean didn’t go home after that. Instead he absently followed a plow down the main road until he happened upon a familiar turn off. Which he took slow and steady until it ended in a T. The little brick ranch at the end of the lane held a lot of memories. And it was more inviting than ever with its Christmas card perfection in the falling snow. Dean put the Impala in park and let the radio play, wishing he had a joint just for the sake of something to do.
He wasn’t there ten minutes before his phone rang, which he answered without processing the caller ID.
“You gonna come in or you just gonna sit out there feeling sorry for yourself?” Jo’s voice sliced across the line.
“Didn’t know if you were still up,” Dean bullshitted.
“Uh-huh. Whatever you say. Backdoor’s open,” her unimpressed reply. She hung up before Dean could make up an excuse to leave. He slouched out of the car and trudged down the long country driveway. As soon as he had stomped the snow off his boots, Jo welcomed him in with a firm hug and an appraising glint in her eye.
“Thanks, it’s a real mess out there,” Dean explained.
Jo just shook her head at him. “How’d ya bowl?”
“619 series, finished strong in the last few frames,” Dean answered. “Were you at your folks?”
“Nah, just know it’s Wednesday night, which means the boys were at the alley,” Jo smirked as she reached atop her fridge for the good stuff.
She held up the whiskey in offering and Dean nodded, bending out of his coat. He slipped it over the back of a chair and settled in at the vintage kitchen table. She poured him a glass and watched as he inhaled the first round like he had been outside for hours and needed to fight off a much deeper chill.
“Well alright,” Jo resigned herself to playing shrink and poured Dean another drink. “So, what’s got you stuck in your head, hm?”
Dean weighed his head from side to side as he let the whiskey roll over his tongue. He never got far into a pouting session when Jo was around, but he also didn’t know which chamber of his heart he could stand to prop open for her inspection tonight.
“How’ve you been, Jo? You still schooling those truckers on taking care of their own rigs?” Dean sidestepped with ease.
“You know it,” Jo confirmed. “Not a day goes by that I don’t have to put another asshole in his place. Pays good, though.”
Jo had followed in Bobby’s footsteps and became a mechanic, but two Singers were already one too many for the shop and salvage yard. So she took her skills out to the interstate and made a name for herself as the only female diesel technician in four counties. Dean used to hate it when she would fix something faster than him, but it had been more than a decade since her skills had made him feel inferior. Dean knew Jo’d be his boss someday, but he wasn’t too worried about those far off futures; Bobby wouldn’t retire unless Ellen made him or killed him first.
“How’s Rufus holding up?” Jo teased, knowing her dad’s old friend was getting worse for the wear, much like John had.
“Stubborn, and as glib as ever. Good thing your dad rehired him, because he’s a bit too mouthy for most customers,” Dean admitted.
Jo hummed with nostalgia. “I gotta swing by and bug you guys sometime, but it just keeps getting busier.”
Dean sighed. “I hear that. What’s it been? Labor day? No. I haven’t even seen you since the Fourth. Christ!”
“Yeah, well, you’ll see me next week for Thanksgiving, don’t get too sentimental about it now,” Jo quipped. She took a short sip off the bottle as Dean swirled the last of his second helping.
“I’m seeing someone,” Dean staggered the words, like he wasn’t sure if their meanings and sounds fit together.
Jo sighed dramatically, “Finally, the truth is revealed! What’s up? She’s not pregnant, is she?”
“No.” Dean had to bite back his guffaw. “Definitely not.”
“Okay, then why the sad face? Not pulling a Ruby on ya, I hope?” Jo tested the waters.
“No, it’s--uh--- it’s been good. Really good. I just, kind of need to make up my mind if I’m in it for the long haul. Ya know?” Dean clarified, relaxing with each little confession.
“Uh-oh it’s getting serious,” Jo mock whispered.
Dean rolled his shoulders. “No, well, it could be. I don’t know.”
Jo giggled. “I can’t believe you! You’re fucking twitterpated, aren’t you?!”
“Jo, if you start making Thumper jokes, I’m shutting up right now,” Dean warned with a pointed finger. “Care to top me off while you’re at it?”
“Okay, okay, gosh.” Jo rolled her eyes dramatically as she poured him another drink before pointedly putting it back on the fridge. “But you’re in deep. You’re all blushy about it.”
“That doesn’t mean I’m ready to go big. It just means they’re willing to put up with me until I say the word,” Dean tried to downplay his feelings and Benny’s confession.
“So do it! Bust out the grand gestures already,” Jo encouraged.
Dean scoffed, “I’m not built for commitment, you know that!”
“Except you kinda are! You’ve changed, Dean,” Jo insisted, head hung to pour her honesty from her eyes. “I don’t know when it happened, but you’re not that reckless boy that I knew. You’ve always been a good guy, but now?---- Maybe it’s been since Sam came home, I don’t know. But somewhere along the way you grew up.---- It’s okay to let yourself want something more, you know.”
Dean grumbled and rolled his neck, breaking the eye contact. She always could do this to him, just like her mother, see straight through his every defense. “I always thought it’d be you, you know?”
Jo smiled without teeth. “Firsts can do that to people. But, we’re not those kids anymore, Dean. So, if you’re asking for my permission or seeking my approval---?”
Dean dropped his head to his hands, thick fingers poorly hiding him from Jo. “It’s a guy, Jo. I’m--- I don’t know--- Bi? I guess?”
“Dean?” Jo waited until he stopped being sheepish and looked at her, even if it was only out of the corner of one eye. “You’ve been head over heels for Cas for years. If you dare tell me this is about him, so help me, I will throw you out right now.”
Dean couldn’t help but laugh ruefully at that and toss back what was left of his whiskey. “You saw that, huh?”
She didn’t answer, waiting for him to work through it on his own.
“It’s not Cas.” Dean smacked his lips and held up his glass for a refill. Jo stood and brought the bottle back to the table. Dean poured himself three fingers worth and pondered the sloshing liquid before he continued. “Your mom know?”
Jo licked her lips, cocked her head, and sighed.
Dean closed his eyes and asked, “Bobby? Fuck!--- my mom?!”
“No one has ever said it out loud, Dean. I don’t know who knows, honestly. But we’re family, that doesn’t change.” Jo grasped his wrist firmly, he held her hand to his and then she slapped her other one on top. Time stopped long enough for Dean to accept that his secret was finally out, but also that it was safe.
“I can’t believe I’m talking about this with you, of all people.” Dean thumbed her knuckles, staring into eyes he knew as well as his own.
“Really? Who else would you be talking to about it? Sam? Ash, maybe?” Jo giggled. “I’m honored, actually. It means you stopped hating me.”
Dean pulled his hands away and took another drink. “I never hated you.”
“Okay, well, maybe it means you stopped hating yourself,” Jo corrected.
Dean’s brows crooked incredulously.
“Too much?” Jo asked apologetically.
Dean shook his head and sighed. “You are your mother’s daughter.”
“Now you’re the one being rude,” Jo muttered before taking a solid drink off the bottle this time.
Dean let himself relax, let the whiskey and conversation work into his muscles and set his worries aside. They talked like the old days and about the old days. Those in between years after high school and before anyone was ready to face responsibility. When half their friends went to college, they had just kept on working. After another hour, Jo leaned back in her chair and started scrutinizing him once again.
“You know how I know you’re happy with what’s his name?” Jo teased.
“Beh--- I didn’t tell you, fuck! Benny, his name is Benny. Goddamnit Joanna Beth,” Dean cursed through a chuckle; more details dragged out of him than he had planned on.
Jo cocked her head and considered the name.“Benny, right. You wanna know how I know?” Jo pushed.
“Fine, how?” Dean held up his hand, beckoning for her to hit him with her response.
“Because this is about the time of night you start giving me the lazy once over. But not tonight,” Jo proclaimed, chin out condescendingly. She had him, every few years they’d find themselves back in each other’s beds, for a night or a weekend and then they’d move on. He always thought of her as his home, his starting point. But maybe they weren’t the same thing at all.
“You still look good, Jo,” Dean replied, trying to save face.
“That’s not what I meant, Dean. Besides, I know!” Jo snarked, straightening her spine and tossing her hair over her shoulder. Dean couldn’t hold in his laughter anymore and it spilled out over a toothy grin, making Jo almost choke on her drink. God, Dean felt like anything was possible. That life was good.
After the hysterics had calmed down, Dean exhaled. “Thanks, Jo. I needed this.”
“You sure did, nobody else was gonna hand you your ass so kindly,” Jo agreed, standing and taking the bottle and Dean’s glass with her to the counter that held the sink. He whined comically, but knew her timing was right. She leaned back and smirked.
Dean grew quiet and Jo waited to see if it was exhaustion, the alcohol or something else. She didn’t have long to prepare.
“How’m I gonna tell my dad?” Dean asked, the pain and panic pulling at his face until she saw the telltale tears well up.
“Fuck ‘im. I mean it, if your dad can’t get his head out of his ass to see how happy you are, he isn’t worth your time,” Jo said adamantly.
Dean let his thoughts roll to the side of his head and licked his lips, biting against the tremor. He quickly wiped away the tears that escaped and inhaled wet and ragged. Jo slipped to his side and ran her hand through his hair, letting his face fall against her chest as he breathed through the onslaught. Dean couldn’t help but think how motherly the affection felt.
She pulled back to look him over at arms’ length.
“So what now? You want the couch? Or should I call you a ride? I’m sure Sam owes you one,” Jo asked, as no nonsense as ever.
“I’ll be fine,” Dean dismissed her concern, rubbing up his face to wipe off his nose.
“Well, you ain't driving.” Jo held up his keys. Dean blanched, feeling his pockets for them, fruitlessly. He stood to snatch them, but she had already skipped across the kitchen, too far to catch. “Nuh-uh, no way I’m letting you risk your baby. Or your thick skull in this weather.”
Dean put his hands on his hips, and blinked through the dizziness. He realized he hadn’t stood in a few hours. “Sam.”
“What’s that?” Jo prodded mischievously, ear leaning in as if she couldn’t hear him.
“Very funny. Call Sam, will ya?” Dean rolled his eyes as she scrolled through her contacts, murmuring the names under her breath. His keys were raised in victory, as if he couldn’t reach them above her head. He could have snagged them in an instant, if he wanted to.
While Jo woke Sam, Dean checked his own phone. Ignoring some texts from his mom and Cas, he selected the conversation with Benny. There were no new messages since that morning. Dean hesitated before relocking his screen.
“Sam’ll be here in twenty. You want something to eat? I’ve got chips.” Jo offered, opening the cupboard.

How I would do RWBY pt. 2
Season Two
Emerald and Mercury go to book store.
Try intimidating ex-White Fang owner.
He’s tense, but not impressed.
Adam walks in.
He shits himself.
Tries fighting.
Dies. Painfully might I add.
Emerald and Mercury banter. Adam just seems bored.
Cinder (teenaged, not adult) scolds them for 86ing the guy in such a public and possibly trackable way.
Adam assures them that they weren’t seen. He has practice in that sort of thing.
Torchwick is annoyed at working with these people but at least he’s getting paid a mint.
Cinder says that, with all of the stolen dust, phase two of plan can to be started soon.
Neo give her a look of ‘get over yourself, you chuunibyou.’
Meanwhile, back at the ranch.
More guests arrive.
Ironwood talks with Ozpin about world affairs.
Grimm populations and attacks are getting worse, but are still manageable.
Says that he has brought plenty of extra security in the form of Penny and a big amount of security robots and mechs.
More bonding scenes because reasons.
RWBY + JNPR have food fight because funny.
Velvet and Blake are closer than earlier and give little ‘anti-racism’ classes for Weiss.
Blake is friendlier with everyone now that she knows they wouldn’t kill her since she’s a faunus.
Ruby has taken on the role of mechanic for everyone’s weapons.
Jaune dominates wargaming night.
Ren and Fox try to help Ruby with her hand-to-hand skills (Yang is not a great teacher of such things)
Scene of properly meeting team SSSN.
Nice guys, but a little too uncoordinated in style.
Ruby ends up having a frustrated breakdown.
Gives WBY speech of how they have to get involved and screw the people telling them to sit down and let them handle the problem instead.
Blake is the first to go along with what she’s saying.
Yang and Weiss argue that this is not a good idea, saying that this sounds like Ruby just wants to go play vigilante again.
Blake says that Ruby has a point, nothing will get accomplished if they sit around doing nothing.
Weiss is the one that cracks next. Agrees that the authorities aren’t exactly inspiring confidence since the run in with Torchwick.
Yang finally gives in, if only to make sure Ruby doesn’t get herself murdered.
Ruby, in her excitement to actually be doing something, rushes out the door to get snacks and runs into someone.
That someone is Cinder.
Cinder, Emerald, Mercury, and disguised Neo (Team CEMN (Cinnamon (work with me here))) keep up the façade of Haven guests from canon.
Ruby almost immediately starts gushing over their cool weapons before being reined in by WBY.
Emerald pickpocket’s Weiss’ wallet and snags rich girl’s cash before putting it back.
Mercury and Yang have a very clear stare-down of ‘punching vs kicking, who will win?’
Neo and Blake…stare at each other (Adam is Blake’s Rival/Foil. Blake v. Neo is just pair the spares).
RWBY has made new friends. (The poor dears)
RWBY start their investigation.
Team SSSN turns up to help at the last minute.
Okay, sure, free help.
Blake and Sun try to find local White Fang schmucks.
Scarlet and Sage go off to do random shit.
Yang drags Neptune to Junior’s club to check the pulse of the criminal element of the city.
Ruby and Weiss dig up information at library place-thing.
They encounter Penny on the way.
Penny acts weird(er) and tries to bolt off.
Weiss agrees that Penny is suspicious as hell and, with all the happenings, that means that she could be a potential lead.
She lets Ruby go after her while she about her investigating alone.
Penny reveals to Ruby that she’s a mechanical maiden (Persona 3 is best Persona).
Ruby is VERY interested now.
Ruby already liked her as a person and now she knows that Penny is a person who is also a weapon.
Zero downsides.
Penny, happy to be accepted, let’s slip that she knows some crazy stuff is happening in the world.
Says that that’s why she was allowed to come to the tournament, as extra back up just in case.
Says that the communications tower is the most obvious target but might not be the actual target.
Can’t elaborate further because of Ciel and her bodyguards showing up.
Ciel gives Ruby the third degree on encouraging Penny’s truant behavior.
Ruby gives her the finger.
Ciel takes Penny away and Ruby gets back to work.
Weiss gets whatever information about the White Fang and Torchwick that isn’t classified, and a little that is, transferred to her.
Her older sister is a high ranker in the military and her father bankrolled a good chunk of said military.
Ain’t nepotism a bitch?
Yang and Neptune come up empty handed, but Yang got to pick another fight at the club before the cops showed up so she’s all good.
Neptune thinks that that’s all Yang went there to do in the first place.
Scarlet and Sage get captured by the White Fang. (They said they had fresh cookies, what were S + S going to do, say no?)
Blake leads Sun along a trail of breadcrumbs to a White Fang hideout.
Sees a recruitment rally going on.
Blake has a heart attack seeing who’s giving a speech.
It’s Adam.
Speech is an emotional call to arms against the cruelty of humanity.
Crowd is skeptical but still listening.
Reveals his brand.
Crowd is now enthusiastic to sign up for the White Fang.
Adam reveals newly stolen war-mech.
Says that they’ll test its power by executing Scarlet and Sage.
Blake spoils his moment by covertly revealing that Roman is the pilot of said mech (Neo is co-pilot).
Crowd turns against Adam for his hypocrisy.
Adam cheeses it.
Roman takes it on himself to attack Blake and Sun.
Scarlet and Sage are freed and take on the rowdy crowd.
While running, Blake and Sun encounter RWY and Neptune.
Sun and Neptune get good hits in but are btfo’d.
Scarlet and Sage find them and all is good for team SSSN.
RWBY has quasi-rematch against Roman + Neo.
Fight goes well.
Team CFVY shows up and stomps the mech.
Looks like Team Rocket’s blasting off again!
RWBY celebrates a fight well won.
CFVY are pissed that RWBY would do something so dangerous and make them promise not to do things like this again.
RWBY lies through their collective teeth about not doing it again.
Get put on probation anyway.
Pyrrha and Jaune are having a moment together before Jaune ruins it.
Jaune admits that he lied and cheated his way into school due to impatience and lack of immediate combat skills.
He confesses all of this out of guilt and plans to turn himself in.
Pyrrha is actually rather angry at him.
1. for cheating to get what everyone else fought tooth and nail to earn the right to and 2. Putting the rest of his team at risk due to his inability to keep up with them in a fight and for associating them with a cheater/liar.
Not to mention lying to her face.
Says good riddance.
Cardin overhears and blackmails him into doing what he says or else he’ll narc on him and say that NPR knew and thus were complicit in the crime.
Jaune goes along with it while creating plan to oust Cardin and get him kicked from school.
Has conversation with Ren and Nora, both of whom are pissed at him.
Of course Pyrrha told them.
Jaune tells them that he knows he’s a piece of shit but also has Cardin to deal with.
Ren and Nora begrudgingly agree to help him get rid of Cardin.
Tells them his plan.
Plan proceeds to fail and Jaune ends up fighting all of CRDL alone.
Loses.
Grimm outside of their power-level shows up.
Jaune’s quick thinking and tactics get it killed.
Cardin is grateful and promises to keep quiet about blackmail. Even means it too.
CRDL is never a real issue again due to them actually realizing that it’s a very cuntish thing to bully the guy and/or the friends of the guy who actively saved their lives.
Jaune plans to give one last apology to his team before he turns himself in.
NPR say that they deliberated amongst themselves.
They have decided that Jaune doesn’t get to take the easy way out.
His penance is to train his ass off, night and day, to catch up to them on the physical level.
Jaune’s role is to be the strategist and that it’s his job to make plans that keep them all alive.
If he fucks up, they work his ass harder until he doesn’t fuck up.
They haven’t fully forgiven him, but they’re giving him a chance because they genuinely like him.
Jaune is touched by their compassion and promises make up for his mistakes.
Sparring day in class.
Jaune has match against disguised Neo.
Neo wins but Jaune starts to have suspicions.
Pyrrha and Mercury spar.
Pyrrha wins but Mercury now has valuable data on her overall fighting style and semblance usage.
Cinder and Ruby are last match of the class.
Cinder has fire powers as a semblance.
Has second semblance giving her bullet time.
Bullet time doesn’t work all that well against Ruby because of her super-speed.
Ruby gets some pretty good hits in. Kinda kicking Cinder’s ass.
Cinder then decides she’s done playing nice and goes on full offensive. Even starts to scare the crowd.
Times up!
Due to technicality, Ruby won the fight.
Aura cohesion (health bars) Cinder:48% Ruby:51%
Emerald and Mercury are blue in the face with fear of what Cinder might do, having officially lost a fight.
Cinder helps Ruby up, apologizes for going overboard, and offers to buy Ruby lunch the next day.
Ruby happily agrees to hang out with her newest friend.
Cinder later explodes at her hideout and incinerates a White Fang member that got a little too close.
Adam pretends to care. Doesn’t actually.
Ruby and Cinder become shockingly good friends (as far as Ruby is concerned).
Cinder explains the concept of a second semblance, confirming to Ruby that she’s a ten-percenter.
It’s somewhat rare, but it’s common enough that people know how it works and why it unlocks.
Great emotional duress.
She was raised in an orphanage that REALLY sucked.
She awakened both semblances pretty quickly and was snatched up by the authorities as soon as possible to be a huntress.
She’s mostly lying about the details but there is still the base truth.
Ruby tells her that she lost one of her parents too.
Summer just didn’t come home one day, being told she was killed in the line of duty by a lucky grimm.
She’s always thought that there’s more to this story, but doesn’t have the means to follow up just yet.
It’s part of why Ruby wants to be a huntress, to do her best to make sure that some other kid never experiences that kind of loss because of the grimm.
Cinder tells her that that’s not the worst motivation. (she means it more than she thinks)
Since Blake saw Adam at the rally she has become obsessed with analyzing all the data gotten during investigation.
RWY is worried.
Yang talks to her about it, giving the speech about her mother and the problems with obsession.
Blake talks about how dangerous she knows Adam to be. Is vastly terrified of him.
Yang reassures her that the team can handle that punkass.
4 on 1, let him try it. They’ll put the boots to him. Medium style.
Blake reluctantly snaps out of her funk.
Dance comes.
Everyone’s having a good time.
Pyrrha decides to properly forgive Jaune.
They kiss and, after a wacky JNPR argument because funny, so do Ren and Nora.
Insert the cool JNPR dance scene here.
Ruby is happy for her friends but notices some bullshit going on near the comm. tower.
Cinder is infiltrating it wearing something that actually makes it difficult to tell who it is.
Makes a big show of knocking the guards unconscious.
Places real obvious hacking device onto console.
Ruby comes in and shoots at her.
Cinder pops smoke and disappears.
Authorities arrive and (as far as they can tell) disable the hacking device.
Ruby is given a commendation for her actions and her team is taken off probation from earlier.
Upper echelon is pleased that enemy plot was foiled.
Exactly as the bad guys wanted.
Ozpin presses the doubt button.
Teams gets chaperone assignments.
JNPR requested a special Grimm bounty mission.
RWBY gets put on simple observation mission.
JNPR spends time tracking and eventually fighting nuckelavee grimm with Prof. Port.
Ren comes to terms with fighting the grimm that killed his parents.
Y’know, sub-plot stuff to relieve some main plot tension.
RWBY is sent with Dr. Oobleck into ruins to observe and document the growth rate of the non-hostile presence of the local *loud snoring*.
Actually sent near suspected White Fang supply depot with hope that they uncover it and fix problems.
Find it fairly easily after a little bonding moment or two with everyone.
Torchwick and Adam are in charge of train depot. (Torchwick gets the train, Adam gets the depot)
Ruby goes in on her own because she was told not to do things like that.
Ruby gets double-teamed by Roman and Adam. Neo watches like a little shithead.
Ruby fights like a demon but still gets bested.
Adam says that he is now bored and leaves Roman to finish up.
Oobleck and WBY show up.
Roman starts the train, tries to cheese it.
RWBY + Oobleck board the train.
Yang fights Neo.
Weiss fights masked White Fang member (later revealed to be Ilia).
Ruby and Blake fight Torchwick.
Oobleck fights the stormtroopers.
Neo, the crafty, dodgy, dexterity style, sly-bitch, kicks Yang, the brutish and blunt boxer, in the ass.
Raven pops up through a portal.
Neo am-scrays after almost getting her shit pushed in.
Raven says a scant few things to Yang and leaves her a trinket and a map, telling her to follow it when she can before leaving.
Weiss wins her fight.
Blake and Ruby kick Roman’s ass.
Discover train is full of dust explosives to blow up a chunk of Vale and let the grimm through in droves.
Was originally intended to be deployed before explosion but Roman decides ‘fuck it’ and tries to turn it into a kamikaze run at the last minute out of spite.
Oobleck disconnects the explosive cars.
Train still rams hole into central Vale.
Grimm incursion.
RWBY fights as best they can.
Almost get overrun when Teams CFVY, SSSN, and CEMN show up to help.
CEMN only involved because evil plan failed and they want to try and clean up any possible evidence.
Neo (in disguise) tries not to be obvious that she’s still tired from earlier.
Horde battle with large hydra (or something) grimm being final boss of season.
They kill it, of course.
After the battle RWBY thinks that the problem is more or less solved.
Adam is still loose but his plan is foiled and his co-conspirator, Roman, is in prison.
All they have to do is hunt him down.
If he’s going to try something, it’ll be at the tournament. RWBY will have an extra eye open during.
JNPR returns triumphant from their mission and wonders what the hell happened while they were gone.
Cinder is livid that plan-A failed and they lost their best chance to kill Ozpin.
Yeah, their plan is to fuck up Vale and get and chance to kill Ozpin.
Is reassured by the mysterious figure she’s talking to (Salem) that plans can change and still succeed.
Adam is looking through security footage taken from depot.
Sees Blake.
He smiles.
Season two done.

Blooming: Chapter Eleven
Fall
Fall is the time when all plants die, and flowers are no exception to the rule. Unless they allow themselves to be saved
AO3 LINK
Before, during, after Penny, the mere thought that that really happened terrified Jaune. The panic and confusion in Pyrrha’s eyes, the way she fought. Jaune had known she was hurting, but if he’d known it went this far... How could he not have seen this? How could he have gone back to being such an idiot now of all times?
His hands clutched at the railing, fingertips gone white.
He barely heard Ren talking to him, barely felt Nora holding him back, and he definitely didn’t understand what they were saying. The crowd was screaming and pointing at something in the ceiling, but he could only see Pyrrha standing frozen among the wreckage of… of a person.
Alone. Alone like she should never be. Not when Jaune was here, not with everything he’d promised himself and promised Her.
He jumped over the railing without a word and ran towards Pyrrha.
Then the ceiling exploded, and dark hell rained from above. Wings the size of cars with feathers to match, and a rush of wind like a hurricane blew Jaune tumbling head over heels away from his partner.
As soon as he could think, his hand fell to his waist where his sword was missing because of course it was. Why couldn’t things ever be easy?
Jaune needed his weapon, because without that how could he possibly help Pyrrha? Plans rolled and clicked in his mind, like the numbers at a train station, clicking and changing until eventually they reached the only combination that made sense. Working together was the only way this would work.
His Scroll was in one hand, and he shot a message to everyone he knew, hoping beyond hope that they got it, and that they would choose to consider it if they managed to read it. Ren and Nora certainly did, for there they were at his side suddenly, and he nearly cried seeing how they were following his lead, Scrolls also in hand.
A blur of red shot past him as he punched in the coordinates for his locker. Ruby. he knew those petals anywhere, but she couldn’t do this alone and she wouldn’t dammit. Not if he had anything to say about it, and by the gods he hoped that he did.
Jaune heaved himself back up over the lip of the stage, Ren and Nora following much more coordinatedly beside him. Ruby was standing in front of Pyrrha, the only thing between his partner and the Nevermore. And the only thing standing between Ruby and certain death was the hauntingly familiar sword she held in one shaking hand.
Those swords would never fly unsuspended through the air again. Their owner lay in pieces on the ground, skewered by them.
Ruby was screaming at the Grimm, and her voice carried even over the pandemonium that the crowd was raising. The Nevermore let out an ear piercing shriek, and it charged at her. Jaune nearly collapsed with relief when it was skewered to the stage by his and his teammates' lockers.
He got a little choked up for reasons he couldn’t quite explain when they were followed not a split second later by Sun, Neptune, the rest of their team, Velvet’s whole team, and the rest of their opponents from the tournament.
They’d gotten his message. They’d actually listened.
The rest of the fight was a blur. Fitting together like a well-oiled machine, Jaune was astounded how easily the coordination came to all of them even though they’d never fought together before.
Pyrrha was crying, and Ruby was comforting her. Jaune, sword secured at his waist and making him feel a lot less vulnerable, held her close to him. He wished he could promise her that they could do this, like he’d promised before, but he wasn’t so confident now.
All he could do was put her weapons in her hand. Jaune held her hands tight for a moment, and forced her to look him right in the eyes, hoping that everything he couldn’t verbalize would somehow be beamed straight into her mind.
The concern he felt, and the fear, and the nausea, and the- And a bunch of other things, best to leave it at that. But mostly he tried to relay to her that he had received the message of overwhelming unrelenting love that she put into every single one of their interactions.
He didn’t know if she got the message in return, but a light that had been missing returned to her emerald eyes .
Gryphons flew in through the broken ceiling. Port and Oobleck insisted that they leave. They reluctantly followed their professors’ wishes, and then all decided en masse to defend the town that had been their home for as little as a few weeks for some of them.
They fought. Pyrrha stayed by his side the whole time, and Jaune couldn’t have been dragged from her side by the fiercest Beowulf. He could almost pretend that it was just a normal training day if it wasn’t for all the fire ruining the image.
And the smoke clogging the sky and blotting out the stars. The screaming of civilians in fear, and roaring of extremists in elation. The robots with glowing red lights, that were supposed to protect them and were now fighting tooth and synthetic nail to mow them down.
Pavement trembled beneath his feet, and only Pyrrha’s steadying arm kept him from pitching headfirst into the ground. Sun wasn’t so lucky, as Neptune was either too busy to catch his partner, or just wasn’t bothered. Jaune almost laughed at his indignant expression. The world was coming apart at the seams and he was laughing.
A Grimm the size of a small building burst out of a mountain that was too small to really hold it. Jaune’s mind couldn’t wrap its way around a flying Grimm that big that wasn’t a Nevermore. The red translucent wings that dripped death and more Grimm down all around them made it clear enough that this was no mockery of a bird.
Maybe it was a mockery of a mockery. Or a mockery of a mockery of a mockery. Twice the abomination, twice the fun.
The fighting became more desperate. Jaune began to lose sight of some of the more familiar faces. And then a new but surprising familiar face entered the edges of the fray in his periphery. Pyrrha froze at the sight of the Headmaster standing at the foot of the tower.
Just standing there. Looking calm, but desperately sad.
Pyrrha’s face fell, gaining back that dread that Jaune hadn’t been able to help with, and she left the fight to jog over to the waiting Headmaster. Jaune didn’t hesitate before running after her, shouting a hurried explanation over his shoulder to his teammates.
The main hall of the school was a nightmare. Bodies littered the floor, ripped to shreds by the Grimm melting into black smoke right beside them. These were the students not lucky enough to make it outside the building before the carnage started. As for the Grimm…
Well, at least it explained the slowly vanishing tar on the Headmaster’s cane.
And if the main hall was a nightmare, the vault was a nightmare wrapped in a horror story topped with everything designed to stab Jaune directly in the soul. He didn’t understand a lick of what was happening. Only that Pyrrha was involved for some reason, and that meant that of course he was on board with whatever was happening. As long as she was.
She got in the pod, and with his back to her, sword ready to defend the most important person in his life from whatever dared to try to hurt her, he didn’t see her wipe a tear from her eye. He also didn’t see her mouth a goodbye before she had to look away from him for fear of changing her mind.
Jaune did hear her start screaming bloody murder as soon as the machine behind him started glowing. The woman in the other pod was screaming right along with her, and Jaune didn’t even know her, but he knew that he wanted this to stop more than he’d ever wanted anything in the world.
The Headmaster wouldn’t listen to him, and he clearly couldn’t hear Pyrrha, because if he could then why wasn’t he doing anything? No, all Ozpin was doing was watching Pyrrha writhe in that orange light.
Wearing that desperately sad expression.
The same one that he’d worn in their conversation a day and a half before. The same one Goodwitch had been wearing at the docks only a couple hours ago. The one that they’d had every time Jaune bent the rules to make Pyrrha even a little bit more happy than she was, to show her how much he cared.
The one that he realized far too late, with the sickeningly familiar feeling of figuring out the joke and realizing that it had been on him the whole time, meant that they’d known what was wrong with Pyrrha the whole time
Jaune wanted to rip that gods damned cane out of Ozpin’s hand and smash him over the head with it.
Or maybe just the console of the contraption that was making the most important person in his life scream like her bones were on fire. All that stopped him was this nightmare being interrupted by another player.
A player who halted whatever torturous horribleness was happening to Pyrrha by dropping down the elevator shaft and unceremoniously shooting the other woman in the chest.
The same orange light rushed out of the woman’s chest as blood filled her lungs and flooded the newcomer with fire. Jaune jumped forward to fight her, to throw himself in between this person and Pyrrha, who was already pounding weakly against the confines of her glass prison.
A blast of energy knocked him on his back before he made it two steps, and with a scream that barely reached him through the ringing of his ears, Pyrrha was there. She helped him to his feet, and on the order of the Headmaster, they both ran out of the room.
A pit formed in Jaune’s stomach as he watched the woman float to the ground, eyes literally ablaze how the hell- Ozpin faced off against her, armed only with his cane and a determined expression. And then the elevator doors closed.
Pyrrha was trembling beside him.
The horrors of the hall seemed like nothing after what they’d seen beneath the school. The floor shook under their feet from the Headmaster and woman’s battle. Barely out the front doors, Pyrrha and Jaune’s eyes traced the out-of-sight noise of what sounded like a rocket ascending the elevator shaft.
The Headmaster was dead.
Pyrrha was watching where she’d gone. Jaune was watching her. Watching the scenarios roll over in her head, coming to the same conclusions, and thinking about what he could possibly do to stop the foregone conclusion they both would come to.
Jaune thought about the lilies he bought her all those months ago. He wondered if they’d make it back at all to water them after all this. Or maybe they’d just wilt on their own in an abandoned dorm room, never to be found again.
She was talking now, about how there wasn’t enough time, and his stomach twisted. His chest hurt with pain and fear and grief, and a voice in his head was screaming, “You’re losing her, you’re losing her!”
He was blabbering, he knew he was, he always was, but words were all he had left now. And then his words were cut off by her lips on his. And she was crying, and he was crying, and they fit together and that hurt.
He thought about potted hyacinths on windowsills and lawn daisies in fire-red hair and sunflower seeds clutched in a pair of dirty palms.
Pyrrha pulled away, and now she had the desperately sad expression. But Jaune knew what it meant now. So when she tried to launch him away, Semblance flickering black over her palms, Jaune wrapped his arms around her and took her with him.
She fell on top of him, added weight ruining her planned trajectory and sending them tumbling into the side of the locker. Tears were still streaming down his face, and they were mingling with hers as she begged him to let her go. Pyrrha struggled out of his grip, because even trembling he was no match for her.
Red hair flew like a rocket behind her as she sprinted away from him towards the dark inside of the school, and the death that waited for her there, and he screamed for her to wait.
And his heart skipped a beat when she stopped, turned around, and did.
Jaune had realised long ago that he’d followed Pyrrha anywhere. And after lilies smuggled in after hours, hyacinths from a school trip, daisies plucked out of the ground and woven into hair, and seeds planted into the earth to sprout new life.
After all that, she was letting him follow her.

Welcome back, welcome back! We have a relatively short chapter this time, which theoretically means it shouldn't have taken me as long as it did to write this recap. Yet here we are.
We open again on Sun's perspective as he joins a large group in the dorm common room. Recall that last chapter Velvet said she wanted to show SSSN something and I took issue with her "Speaking of family" line. We'll get to that in just a bit, as well as the surprise element of this chapter. Moving chronologically though, we learn that this group is the self-named Beacon Brigade and there has been a unanimous vote to allow SSSN to become a part of whatever the Brigade is doing. "Everyone here helped defend our home and school," Velvet says, "even though they didn’t have to. We’re grateful. As far as we’re concerned, you’re all honorary Beacon students." That's a rather nice sentiment and, once again, Velvet shows herself to be the best and most mature character presented so far. That's not a terribly high bar to clear and as established last chapter, she definitely contributes to the intense Sun-bashing, but this is one of the sweetest lines I've heard from RWBY in a while, so kudos.
Sun, however, doesn't take kindly to the inclusion. "Whatever that means anymore, Sun thought. Then he chided himself. To the others here, it still meant a lot." That's how you do a character flaw without making them a complete asshole. You either have someone else call the character out (paying careful attention to whether that person's opinion has any weight in the story—something the webseries still needs to work on), or you have the character call themselves out. Which Sun does here. The story allows Sun to have this flaw while likewise recognizing that he's not being fair to the others. That's a conscientious human being right there.
Or a faunus. You get what I'm saying.
Sun continues to unpack his prejudices and acknowledges that he's not a big fan of how that mentality impacts the formation of teams: "That was the whole point of the team system—to become part of something, to define yourself, to lose yourself in it. A team made you someone new, someone better." But for Sun that's too much attachment. He claims he's not the type to get attached to either people or places, though his willingness to follow Blake to Menagerie on a "What if?" says differently. Here we get to see how Sun thinks of himself as someone outside of these community ties even as he tries so hard to maintain them. It's a part of his personality that—for reasons I assume have to do with his past—he is unwilling to acknowledge yet.
The rest of this group is introduced, including Team ARBN and Nolan, originally a member of Team BRNZ. Where are the other three? Oh, they died at the Fall of Beacon.
Tumblr media
Cue me putting the book down for a solid minute because this is one hell of a deviation from the tone of the webseries. With (maybe) the exception of the Schnee charity ball, the Fall of Beacon has been presented as no worse than what we, the viewer, directly experienced. Meaning that the end of Volume 3 was the moment RWBY went from a lighthearted action show to a tragic epic trying to take itself seriously, and crucially the show has made it seem like we were privy to everything that was a part of that change: Penny dies. Pyrrha dies. Yang loses an arm. Everyone is forced to abandon their school. Those are the four events that made this the Fall of Beacon and already we had a problem with how little the show chose to grapple with those things. Ruby's nightmares conveniently disappear. Yang has no difficulty fighting despite working through PTSD. Ruby doesn't seem to care that the friend she saw killed is miraculously standing before her. These events are, by and large, not integrated into the cast's feelings, reactions, and motivations  and when they are it's to say that such a tragedy has no bearing on difficult things like trust (Ozpin) or that those who are still haunted by the Fall are unstable and unfit to lead (Ironwood). Post Volume 4 these events haven't been given the proper weight, which is bad enough on its own, yet now we find out that things were even worse than they first appeared?
Penny and Pyrrha were not the only ones to die. The Fall was always a tragedy, but this is a tragedy that goes beyond our core group of characters. Was anyone going to mention that Jaune, Nora, and Ren weren't the only ones to lose a teammate? That an entire generation of huntsmen are working through this on a far more personal level than previously established? As said, it's bad enough that the webseries has glossed over Pyrrha's death for everyone but Jaune, yet now BTD comes in to say, "Yeah, some of these kids lost their entire team. Remember these guys?"
Tumblr media
"Everyone on the right is dead now." No need to make room for that in your primary story.
(As an aside, an anon once asked whether it's weird that Pyrrha got a statue in Argus. At the time I argued strongly that it wasn't, partly due to her celebrity status and the fact that this was her home city, but also because she seemed to be the only "real" death in the Fall. Obviously we as the viewers count Penny as well, but the world may not view the dismantling of an android in the same way they'd view the murder of an organic teenager. As the single "real" death that Beacon suffered, Pyrrha's memory shoulders that attention... but now this little tidbit blows all that out of the water. Apparently lots of kids lost their lives that day and our webseries hasn't taken the time to acknowledge that.)
So I'm reeling from this revelation and taking in what it's done to Nolan: "He was even thinner than he'd been last year at the Vytal Festival, and his rose-colored glasses didn't hide the dark shadows under his eyes." Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled that at least some part of the RWBY-verse is acknowledging the severity of Volume 3's finale, it just rankles that this work is relegated to a supplementary novel already loaded with other problems, rather than put into our main storyline where it would do more good.
Speaking of those problems, we get another conversation about how unnecessarily cruel the Shade students are. I like the little pun on "shade" that Nadir gives—"Let’s just say some of the Vacuan students here are giving a new meaning to ‘Shade’ Academy"—but I’m not sure why Myers feels the need to follow that up with Nadir giving an awkward explanation. I can't remember precisely where, but didn't we see this already? With Sun or Neptune? Plus we definitely just got Fox's 'joke' that went over Neptune's head. Not every character needs to be #awkward regarding humor and you can trust your reader to get the joke without explaining it each time. That’s a specific character trait that feels like it’s being applied to too many characters now.  Moving on, Arslan speaks my mind by pointing out that, regardless of what Shade might think about them "abandoning" the academies, it's not a productive attitude. Their new peers are more interested in beating them down for what's already happened than discussing how they can move forward as allies (sound like any main characters we know?) So the group strikes up a conversation about what they can actually accomplish. We learn that Yatsuhashi has been leading some of them through meditation and others take the time to share their survivor's guilt, admitting that the Shade students' attitude sometimes feels like a punishment they deserve. Iris brings up Castor, another peer who perished at Beacon, and Nolan continues to grapple with the death of his teammates. Yet despite the severity of these admissions, Sun still isn’t impressed.
“Yeah. Because you ran away, Sun thought, unable to stop himself, even though this was the exact thing the other Shade students were thinking of the Beacon and Haven survivors. No wonder Nolan was here—he was probably getting criticized worse than anyone, because Shade students were supposed to be stronger than everyone else.”
Okay wait, does Sun actually know that Nolan ran away? Is "ran away" in the context of Nolan's specific battle (his team was fighting a mech or something and he split), or is it in the context of the entire Fall (he failed to take back Beacon and therefore 'ran')? That's a huge difference because if it's the latter (and I suspect it is)... Sun ran away too. Has Sun—and Myers—forgotten that he was there? At the Fall. Right there on the left.
Tumblr media
It feels more than a little disingenuous of Sun to be adopting any of the Shade Academy's criticism when he himself was a part of the 'failing' group. Why is he acting like he’s an outside observer, judging Nolan when they went through the same horror? When he too ‘ran’ from that fight? Obviously this ‘You ran away’ perspective is just garbage all on its own, but I'm really distracted by what appears to be only three explanations:
Nolan really did ditch his team, Sun knows about it, and this is all info that I've missed from the previous book (always possible)
Nolan really did ditch his team, Sun knows about it, but Myers isn't interested in telling us how Sun got that info or why it’s important
Nolan never ditched his team, 'ran away' is in the context of leaving Beacon to the grimm, and Sun is so deep in his denial he’s removed himself from the facts of the situation. You didn't save Beacon either, Sun!
I'm just
Tumblr media
Sun isn't done yet though and before we cover that I just want to say: I get it. This book drags him to an unreasonable degree and any Sun fan must just be frothing at the mouth reading through this. However, I also can't claim that Myers has made Sun particularly endearing here. Like in the prologue when Sun is all about being a solo act, denying reality, and ignoring the harm he's done to his team, here he's presented as someone I'm just not interested in spending time with. I know I praised him above for correcting his knee-jerk thoughts, but like with Coco's flaw becoming overdone Sun-bashing, Sun’s attitude it so over the top I get frustrated with him even while I sympathize with the extreme criticism he’s shouldering. Because this Sun isn’t any kinder or wiser than the group targeting him:
“But he’d believe it when he saw it. It was easy to talk about doing something, and another thing to follow through on it. Maybe that was what he didn’t like about this group. So far it was all just sitting around and talking. They should be focused on moving on— channeling their strength toward protecting their new home, their new friends.”
Sun has little to no faith that this group can accomplish the things they set out to do (despite evidence to the contrary). He's critical of what they have chosen to do and is dismissive of their needs. He likewise criticizes others for not taking care of their home and their friends... even though he's the one who left his team to chase after Blake, someone who explicitly did not want or need his assistance. It's something Sun himself brings up later on: "Blake may not have needed or wanted him, but there was no doubt in his mind that he had helped" and it's his dismissive attitude here that’s my primary issue with him both in the webseries and in this novel. Sun prioritizes his own desires (I want to help) over everyone else's desires and needs (Blake didn't want my help and didn't need it). We see him doing the same thing here, rejecting what a very large group all needs because it's not something he as an individual wants. It feels contradictory to call Sun selfish because his desires do revolve around helping others—his wants are all coming from a loving place—it's just that how he prioritizes that drive to help often ends up hurting others and he continually refuses to acknowledge that. His “but I helped” is used as a catch-all justification for the bad choices he made in providing that (unwanted) assistance. Like creepily following a woman, or ditching his team, or getting in over his head by following three goons alone, or criticizing a conversation that others find beneficial. To reiterate, I do think that Sun has gotten way too much heat in this novel, but I also can't pretend that he's a character I'm particularly fond of. He made me uncomfortable the moment spying on four women in their bedroom was played as a joke and RWBY has done very little to endear me to him since. It's a bit of a surreal experience to read about someone I’m very critical of, but when the material itself criticizes him I’m suddenly like, "Hold up. That's going too far."
Reading about Sun feels like watching someone who insists they help another bake a cake. The baker does not want help, does not need help, but our character is just desperate to do something. So he forcefully takes the ingredients for himself and ends up ruining the batter. I'm like, "Okay, that's not appropriate. You're coming from a good place and you never meant any harm, but your actions were still a problem. We should address this, including where that desperate need to help is coming from."
Except then the baker 'addresses this' by screaming at him at the top of their lungs, throwing things, and banning him from the kitchen for all time.
Me: "Not like that!!"
Simply put: this novel is generating a lot of emotions and very few of them are pleasant.
Things finally come to a head when Sun rolls his eyes because he doesn't like therapy—wait.
Hold up. Just give me another second.
Tumblr media
You remember I spoke about the "surprise element" earlier? Think about the structure of the last chapter. We end on what's essentially a small cliffhanger. Velvet says she wants to show Team SSSN something but the reader doesn't know what that is. We’re waiting for the reveal. Yet we only learn that the group is having a therapy session four pages in—and this is a six page chapter. (Yes, I'm writing twice as much as the source material. You all know I'm not succinct :p ). Myers is now demonstrating a habit of not introducing the core aspects of a scene: who, what, where, when, and why. We've got half of that— who, when, and where—but not the 'what' or the 'why.' What is the group doing in the city in the middle of the day? Are they patrolling? Out to lunch? Following a lead? Looks like they're visiting a wall. Would have been nice to know that a couple pages earlier. Oh, there's a souvenir table there? Didn't feel like it, and it was never mentioned in the scene setup, so that’s an awkward surprise. Now Velvet wants to show them something. What is it? No seriously... what is it? Please tell me what's going on before we're more than halfway through the event in question. Granted yes, you might be able to deduce that they're in therapy, but we don't know that for sure until Sun uses the word. And we need to know in order to properly read the scene. I spent the first four pages thinking that this group was an expansion of CFVY's solo missions. While they were talking I was waiting for Velvet to reveal what she wanted to share—another secret mission they were conducting, or something—not realizing that the conversation itself was it. That’s the reveal. I mean, Beacon Brigade isn't exactly a name that makes you think "therapy." They're labeling themselves an army, ergo I assumed this had something to do with their war. That is, more to do with it than working through the aftermath.
In retrospect it is somewhat obvious that these students are engaging in group therapy... but at the same time it's not because I would think, technically, that this isn't therapy. Who's the therapist? Velvet? She's the one leading, but she's also an unlicensed, traumatized teen just like everyone else in the room. It's a support group and that's fantastic, I'm honestly thrilled one of RWBY's stories decided to incorporate this, but at the same time it's odd to have Sun seriously referring to this as therapy like this is comparable to receiving professional help. I’m bringing this up because we saw the same perspective regarding RWBYJNR's status as huntresses. That's a job, something earned and presented to you by an expert, but up until Volume 7 Ruby seemed to be working under the impression that because she wanted to be a huntress and because she did vaguely huntress-like things, she was one. Simple as that. But crucially she wasn't and that lack of knowledge, maturity, and training caused serious problems in Volume 6. Now we have a group calling their activity therapy, doing vaguely therapy-like things, but Velvet isn't a therapist. I'm saying that not to knock the excellent work she's doing to help both herself and her friends (and I'm also quite aware that I'm missing an entire book's worth of information that may be pertinent here) but rather, I bring it up to acknowledge that the whole of the RWBY-verse seems to have a skewed idea of how professionalism works. We've got a lot of teens in this franchise who are put in positions of power when by all logic they shouldn't be. RWBY has failed to do the work of coming up with compelling reasons for why these half-trained teens keep getting put in charge of stuff, which is what any story staring kids and teens needs to do.
Anyway, I've rambled on about that enough. As said, Sun isn't enjoying the touchy-feely-ness of it all, even when Velvet reiterates that they're "like family." Coco reminds him that he's free to leave, but of course she turns it into an insult: "Maybe you’re not ready for this.” Sun ignores the implication and does try to leave, admitting that what he has to say probably won't go over well. The others encourage him to share though, it's a safe space... until Scarlet makes a dig about keeping them waiting again. I'm simultaneously going, "He's right. Sun still refuses to acknowledge how badly he hurt his team" and also "#Yikes. So much for this being a safe place!"
What I’m saying is these kids all need an actual therapist. Sun himself is described as feeling "strangely disconnected from his body. Unsettled” at the start of the chapter. The tragedy here is that one of the characters most in need of this help is the one digging his heels in the most.
It gets worse though. Sun finally caves and his take is, as one would expect given his feelings thus far, not great: "This is why Vacuans won’t trust you. Because you’re holding on to who you were and where you came from instead of focusing on where you are.” He also claims that “Theo really wouldn’t like this," making it sound like the group is breaking rules and should be ashamed of trying to cope with their trauma in a healthy manner. He ends with the confident belief that Vacuans understand them completely because they punish themselves by staying in the same, harsh place.
(So do these people move on or not?? Ugh I can't get into this again.)
Scarlet, as Sun predicted, isn't pleased to hear any of this. Frankly I can't blame him. "Like you didn’t leave us the first chance you got to chase after someone you barely knew who didn’t want your help?" he says. "You didn’t even stay in Vacuo for school —you chose Haven.”
He's not wrong. Hard as it is to hear, Scarlet has a point. Sun did abandon his team. He did chase after someone he'd just met who didn't want his help. He did choose to go to Haven because, as he explained last chapter, he's not a big fan of Vacuo. Which isn't a bad thing in and of itself, it just means he's not in a position to criticize others for not immediately adoring this kingdom, rejecting Beacon in the process. Like so many other RWBY protagonists, Sun holds others to a standard he doesn’t demand of himself. I can hate Vacuo and leave because there are things about it that make me uncomfortable, but you have to learn to appreciate it and forget what’s outside this kingdom, despite never having a choice about coming here. It’s food for thought and something he should be encouraged to consider. However then:
“You wouldn’t know anything about loss, Sun. You never stay in one place long enough to learn.”
Tumblr media
That's not a point, that's just cruelty, and it's an attack that clearly hurts Sun a great deal. He flushes and snaps, "You all belong in Vacuo more than you think." Really, they all do. He reiterates to himself that there's nothing to work through, they all just need to move on, and then he really does leave, saying that he'll see them for patrol. Well, at least Sun isn’t planning on going off on his own again, even if he is on the outs with his friends.
So that was an all around depressing chapter! I didn't like it. I was honestly shocked when I went back and realized that it was only six pages because it felt far longer. We're now three chapters into this novel... with only nineteen more to go 😬
Until next time!

Dear Creator
General Likes: Trans characters, queer themes, queer solidarity, character development, strong gen. relationships and interactions with characters outside of a relationship, dialogue-driven story, non-linear narrative, animals, angst, hurt/comfort, character introspection
DNW: underage, a/b/o, past S10 for SPN
Realm of the Elderlings
Well if this reads as though I haven't finished the books it's because I haven't, but I will have by reveals so don't worry about spoilers.
Fitz/Fool
1. Set in the Golden Fool Trilogy before the Fool being Amber and him being in love with Fitz is revealed they have the head out on a sea voyage for whatever reason. They come across the Paragon, Fitz freaks because why does that ship have my face and also it's ALIVE? The Fool has to then awkwardly explain what happened.
2. At the end of the Golden Fool Trilogy they venture back to the Fool's homeland together.
3. After the Red Ships are vanquished Fool seeks out Fitz. They travel the world together with Night Eyes.
Brashen/Althea
1. I would love a bit more detail about their life after their series! We see them with a kid in the Dragon series so I would adore a look into that family.
2. I would love to see how these guys relationship works with their families, does Brashen ever really speak to his family again? Does Malta have the Trell's over and Brashen and his family awkwardly sit at the table together.
3. Generic ship adventure! I would love to see these guys travelling around with the Paragon and what they get up to.
Supernatural
DNW: Anything past Season 10
Likes: boy king arc, Sam centric fic, queer Sam (I literally head canon him as anything with whatever pronouns), Bobby, trans Dean, religious iconography/themes, Sam being a lore nerd
Dislikes: Sidelining Sam 
Sam/Ruby
1. Ruby lives, I’d love to see how this plays out in Season Five. Whether she sticks with Lucifer or chooses Sam.
2. Sam goes dark side after freeing Lucifer
3. Earlier on Sam starts trusting her and fulfilling his role as the boy king. If this stops Dean from going to hell, changes the way the demons work etc
Sam/Jess or Sam/Jess & Dean
1. Jess lives au! My personal head canon is that Jess is pre-med and being very intent on saving people. When she finds out about hunting, she realises that she can’t just go back to being “normal” knowing people are dying. Maybe Sam decides to go back to law school and they have a semi long-distance relationship where she asks him for advice, maybe they hunt together every now and again. Maybe she joins Dean and Sam and they become a hunting trio.
2. Jess gets brought back to life – place this in any season you want! Go wild.
Dean & Sam
1. Dean keeps in touch with Sam during Stanford! Maybe from the get-go, maybe after a couple of years, maybe seeing each other, maybe just through postcards
2. I’d love to see them during S4 where their relationship starts to fall apart, but like also see them still loving each other
3. John gets a year to live instead of instantly going to hell AU – how do they react? Do they try to save him? Does John tell them?
4. I’d love a sort of non-linear story of them (especially Sam because it’s been so long) trying to integrate John into his adult life also looking at his life as a child/teen. You know the general angst about how he’d done it, he’d gotten away and he’s right back at square one. Also, Dean starting to realise that he isn’t a kid anymore, and he’s got his own thoughts etc
Sam
1. Licherally anything in the boy king arc! I’d love to see him fulfilling his role as the boy king. This stops Dean from going to hell, changes the way the demons work etc
2. His time at Stanford! I’d love to see him adjusting to his new life.
3. I would love to see a bit more of him in Season Four! How he feels about Dean being chosen by the angels, how this affects his view on religion, how he feels about himself and the demon. Blood etc
4. Just some introspection anytime in the series tbh, love to see this boy struggle with wanting to be good, with wanting to be normal, and then um not being those things
5. I’d love a sort of non-linear story of Sam trying to integrate John into his adult life also looking at his life as a child/teen. You know the general angst about how he’d done it, he’d gotten away and he’s right back at square one.
Final Fantasy XV
Likes: fics that include the whole gang, trans Gladio, anything with Prompto, angst about destiny, angst about royal linage, character introspection
Noctis/Prompto
1. I really like angsty fics about destiny with this lot - I would love to see how the way in which they’ve been raised effects their relationship, be it being groomed to be king or shield or advisor. I would love a getting together fic, with whichever ship you wish to write, with a lot of internal angst.
2. I would also love a post cannon fic where Noctis is alive (magic, never died, skip over it entirely it’s up to you) where they all settle down, maybe Noctis lets the world think he has died so he can live a peaceful life?
3. I would like to see a fic of Prompto integrating himself into Noctis’ life, Gladio and Ignis have been around his entire life, so how does Prompto feel about them? How do they feel about him? Honestly I’m 100% here for awkward insecure bby Prompto
4. Set between game cannon and Brotherhood, I‘d be down to see what these guys got up to in the years between high school and the road trip. Did Prompto and Noctis study after high school? Do they travel?
5. Less of a prompt and more a vague feeling but like *slaps prompto* this bad boy can fit so much angst in it. Honestly, he’s childhood is depressing af, with the lack of parents and friends combined with a shit body image/relationship with food I wld rlly love some emotional hurt/comfort with him and the squad
Naruto
Likes: the summons, Rock Lee, the squads and how they operate, Naruto getting to eat the ramen he deserves, Sakura being an actual bad arse fleshed out character, trans Naruto
Sasuke/Naruto
1. Naruto leaves and joins Sasuke on his mission to destroy to Leaf, talks him out of y’know murdering everyone but agrees that the Shinobi system is deeply fucked and needs to be fixed
2. I’d like a fic of Sasuke thinking about Naruto while doing all his plotting, be it set when he’s with Orochimaru or the Akatsuki, it would be nice to see him thinking about Naruto, wanting to stop doing so, wondering how strong he could have been if he had managed to kill him and gain the mangekyou earlier
Gai/Kakashi
1. I’d like a fic set just before Kakashi gets his genin, really love to see Gai trying to talk up how cool having a squad is! Dragging Kakashi to see his kids and being like aren’t my team great! And then Team Gai getting into some crazy hijinks that make Kakashi a lil scared about the future but also maybe a bit endeared towards them
2. a fic of Gai watching Kakashi slowly lose himself while in ANBU, of him trying to make things right and not being able to and then eventually asking him to be removed from the forces

Avenging Riverdale: Riverdale x Avengers/ Sweet Pea x OC!Tony Stark’s Daughter. My Reaction After Completing it and A Year Of Working On It.
Tumblr media
This will include spoilers to my fanfic her is the link if you want to read it:
Avenging Riverdale
Masterlist
One paragraph is one chapter.
(not a chapter) Im going to be honest, in my mind their are two sections of Avenging Riverdale. Before my Brain Surgery and after because if you have read my fanfic all the way though, Author Notes and all, you know that I had to stop writing Avenging Riverdale for awhile so that I could focus on healing from that.
A trigger warning, good. Two part cast. Prologue. Tally is in deep shit. Steve picked her up and took her hungover ass to the living room. To Riverdale she goes. The horrible fake screenshots. I stopped doing that though because I couldn't find one for a group chat. Her and Tony's fights are rough. She snuck out to a soup kitchen. I feel bad for abandoning that. Cap found out. Tony put a tracker on her. Wtf but they are getting along. Now the Avengers are worried tho. They are shook they are getting along. After her dad became Iron Man things went downhill in her life.
Welcome to Riverdale. 'Murcia is Cap's group chat name. Short Stark is Tally's and Deadpool just got in it. His is World's Biggest Cry Baby. Peter's explanation of how he knows Deadpool is the most Gen Z thing ever. MJ is Tally's Slut. Tally is MJ's Bitch. Hello Cheryl Blossom.
Bucky has been eating Tally's cereal. She's acting betrayed. Veronica is surprised she didn't kill him. She heard someone mispronounce her name. She corrected them. Betty Copper. Kevin Keller. Kevin is fan-girling. She has blueberries. Jade Keller. Jade is trying to hate on her and her family. Cat Andrews. Jade is dragging her by the wrist while Cat is acting like this is a completely normal thing. Andre Clayton. Jade and Tally would've made a great couple. God damn my crush on Malachi and Sweet Pea. Andre is questioning why Jade just kidnapped Thalia Stark amd why she's at Riverdale High. Tally is questioning why there are so many redheads.
Betty warning Tally about Jade. Song writing with her new friends, Jade, Cat and Andre. She's allergic to roses. She doesn't want to talk about her family problems. The Welcome Back Dance. Archie Andrews. Jade and Tally are dancing together. I swear to god my gay-dar is broken. She rejected Reggie Mantle.
MJ being possessive on insta. Thalia punched Reggie Mantle. It's so weird looking back and seeing Tally not know what's going on her mom. Bucky trying to be a supportive boo. The first mention of Nick St. Clair. Her telling Jade what happened. Jason Blossom's body being found.
Omg, I published chapter 5 for 100 reads. That seems so long ago now that the book is almost at 45k reads. Tony and Pepper are getting married.... I didn't get them married until Endgame. Tony and Tally are going to Pop's. She is not at liberty to answer the question of whether or not she jacker War Machine's suit just so he would do the macarena without a lawyer. Bucky, it's her job to make you feel old.
Hydra nightmare. She's talking to her dad about the nightmare. Then she was like now that we had a hard time going down to the basement to tinker. Whether she wants to admit her or not I wrote her a lot like her dad. Malachi. Malachi obviously cares about Tally. Malachi knows that Nick St Clair hurt Tally. They had sex. I'll be honest with you, I wasn't sure if in the end she was going to end up with Malachi or sweet pea at this point I was still debating it. Malachi kept her hair brush.
Tony just apologized to her for pushing. Jade just stole her for a minute. Malachi left hickeys. I love Tally and Bucky's relationship. Tally is Pepper's maid of Honor. Tony's cooking?
Jade now knows about Malachi. Veronica brought roses in his school and Tally starred sneezing. Tally telling Reggie I don't need the Avengers to kick your ass.
Kevin knows about Malachi now. Nat as chasing Bucky. I love how tally is a moderator for these little fights. Tony is going to spar with Tally, he's going to get his ass kicked so hard. Bucky that $50 on tally. Cap betted $50 on Tony saying that her emotions would get the best of her. Tally won. But Tony is blowing it off like oh I let you win. Thalia Stark got a pep rally who would ever see the day. Tally thinks her dad's hiding something from her. Jughead expected her to have a stick at her ass. I love tally I really miss writing her. It's because of lines like Tony Stark is my dad, iron Man's just suit that just really make me miss her.
That was really sweet and it almost made me cry I forgot I wrote that part. Cheryl just got arrested for lying. Tally proving her genius. Reggie asked her on a date.
The Avengers just found out she's going on a date, they're not exactly happy well, the male Avengers aren't especially since she punched the guy in the face. Pepper is getting emotional. Cap answered the door. Mantle is shook. After the date, he dropped her at home and closed the door before he had a chance to kiss her.
Reggie mantle trying to slut shame tally. She is pissed, she ran into that boy's locker room. She's threatening to expose his dick pics. Which he thinks that it matters that she's not in New York anymore when she's the one with all the security clearance and she's Thalia fucking Stark. The extra points she got just because Reggie met The Avengers. Everyone keeps reminding her murder is illegal. Tally wants to destroy his car, Nat is like go for it and everyone's like Nat, no do not influence her to do this. Rhodey it doesn't think Tony should be supporting her in this. She got her revenge. Mantle is pissed, just actually wanted it. Her dad had a screaming match with the principal.
Malachi is starting to miss her. Toni Topaz. Sweet Pea. Fangs Forgarty. FP Jones. Beck Oliver. And Sweet Pea's nickname is born, Sunflower. Toni loves her. Mantle tried to apologize, but it was a shit apology so she blew him off.
The drive-in is being bought. Malachi wants me to come over after school. Malachi asked her out. He's giving her time to think about it. Family dinner.
Really bad nightmare. Then she had a panic attack because of the nightmare. Tony got pops burgers for breakfast.
Malachi and tally are officially in a relationship. The meeting of the New York friends and the Riverdale friends. Her dad's wearing an iron Man onesie. Steve is wearing Captain America pajamas. Clint is wearing a big bird onesie. Her dad is leaving from New York tomorrow to present an invention and wants her to go.
She is staying in Riverdale. Her dad asked her to stay away from The lodges. Tally you telling off Cheryl. Steve you fucking snitch. Talking about Tally's pranks. Peter is worried about her.
The accords. Tony wants her opinion on it. She thinks it's the most stupid idea ever. The governor wants her to sign it but she's refusing to. He doesn't want her to sign it either. She knows more about her mother than he's talking about. Honestly it is so weird looking back at this and having her mom not being revealed like this.
The accords meeting. Tally just walked out of school to be there. Tony knows he fucked up.
Rest in peace Peggy Carter my queen. Yes Nick, help her stop the fight in a Target parking lot. Tally is such a mom. When tally even bosses the King around, threatening to reveal his internet browser history. She just compared them all the toddlers. She just met Ant-man. Ruby Lodge is her mother.
Ruby Lodge also happens to be Hiram Lodge's little sister. Tally was born in Riverdale. I really abandoned the UN plot line.
Her and Jade are going to sing at the variety show. Take A Hint for the audition tho with Mantle in the crowd. Josie wants to talk to her alone. Veronica is pissed she didn't her they were cousins. Dinner party at the Pembroke.
Deadpool. After the variety show her and Deadpool are on the roof eating chimichangas. She's helping Betty look for her sister. She's going to go clubbing with Veronica, Kevin, Jade, and mantle. Cap is really easy lie to. Malachi is there and he's cheating on her.
She called Malachi a dirty mouthed whore. She just got a package from the Ten Rings. PROJECT INTERMISSION. right now she's thinking Hydra in the 10 rings are working together. She can't go to Polly's baby shower because she's doing some investigating of her own.
Soup kitchen talking to the serpents. Tony just asked what's the tea. Tony has so much faith in his daughter taking over Stark industries it's so sweet. Her and Cheryl are starting over because tally gave her some really good advice about being a female daughter getting ready to become a CEO.
Another letter from the 10 rings. Chuck is back. Jugheads surprise party. I forgot I put Cat's bibble addiction in here. The ones that watched Victorious will know what I'm talking about. I think Tally's birthday present is the best one he is received for a while. Cheryl wanted to know about the scars on her back during the game of secrets and she even it was like exposed herself basically she really didn't care though. To the Southside with Sweet Pea.
They really want to challenge Tally at call of duty. They're playing never have I ever. Toni knows about what happened.
Her mom was a serpent, and she went to the serpent's for help. Everyone is surprised that tally is a serpent by blood.
Her father told the truth. Jade scares Joaquin. That's cute, Sweet Pea thinks he can be tally in a game of pool.
She won. And sweet pea is confused why she is open about almost everything but her ex. They had sex. Tally is saying that they can't date because of everything that's going on and she doesn't want to put him in danger. Tally is in deep shit.
Tony and Tally had a big fight. Tony's kind of suspicious of tally right now because she's been acting off. Steve heard something about project intermission. Tally is terrified that Hydra is going to kidnap her.
They're still asking about project intermission. FP was just arrested for the murder of Jason blossom. They're holding an intervention for tally because they're worried about her. Malachi what are you doing there I don't remember this.
He regrets cheating on her. Malachi can read her like an open book. The blackmailed him into cheating. Tally just save Fred's life I forgot that's how she gets kidnapped. Alice Cooper is Thalia's godmother. She's dead. I wrote this and I'm about to cry. Someone stole the body. Project intermission.
Tony freaked out at the mention of the 10 rings. She's alive. The Avengers are finding out what happened with Nick St Clair.
Jade really just spilled everything to them I mean I would too if meant getting my best friend back but still. Tony went to go see Malachi. Malachi said he was more afraid of tally than he is of Tony. But he's still told him a lot.
Tally has powers. Thalia is so sarcastic I love her. Tally was able to send a message to them. By the time they got there the Hydra base was in flames and she was walking out of it. They forced her to go to the hospital where everyone was waiting. Tony tried to keep her in her in the hospital room but she was like no❤️.
The sexual tension between her and Sweet Pea tho. Interview by Sheriff Keller. Welcome home party. The Whyte Wyrm. Sweet Pea wants a slurpee. Toni accidentally ate a weed brownie.
Fangs has skittles in his jacket? FRIDAY you sassy AI. Movie night code red. Tangled vs The Conjuring. Nat has Thor in a choke hold. I always forget that Rapunzel's name translates to Lettuce. They all suggest movies and fight it out. First one is Sweet Pea vs Tally. I FORGOT I BROKE THE FOURTH WALL. Tally won. Tony is having a talk with Sweet Pea. Tally doesn't think Hydra is done. Imma be honest I don't remember most of this because the close it get to when I had my surgery the more fucked my memory became.
Reggie is calling her the walking dead. Swalia date. This is going to be adorable.
The memes tho. They ended up watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Things got heated then Tony texted tally. Her and her dad ended up working on the Impala when she got home. Tally told Reggie to fuck off. Her adoption papers came in so that she will legally be Pepper's kid. Archie's an idiot.
I love Pepper. Sweet Pea and Tally are officially dating. Jade and Kevin are freaking out. Her dad is freaking out not like Jade and Kevin. Cat is pissed at her brother. Bulldogs and Serpents showed up. Jade, Cat, Veronica and Tally stopped the fight. She headed to Sweet Pea's.
My fake insta posts were the best. Beck, Fangs and Sweet Pea just got arrested. Nick St Clair is coming to town. Mantle vandalized her locker. Apparently the same thing happened to her mom. She's not going to talk about Nick St Clair.
Tally telling Archie to keep an eye out for Nick St. Clair. Date night with Sweet Pea. He took he took her their hideout. She's contemplating filing a police report on Nick St Clair. They had sex in a treehouse.
Nick St. Clair is back. Veronica doesn't know shit. She finally told her dad. She going to report him. She told Veronica. Veronica confronted him at the party and now everyone at the party knows. She went to SVU. Then she went to MJ's.
They are going to arrest him at the open house. He has been arrested.
No more secrets? Holy shit. She now knows Alice Cooper is her God Mother. Really Tony? Why did you call her out in front of everyone? You could've just talked to her. He wants her to see a therapist. St Clair had a bail hearing. No bail. Southside High was raided. When he only like Sweet Pea because he's taller than Cap. Tally didn't realize it. Drag Race. Malachi vs Tally. Bucky is so chill about it.
(So Chapter 47. Is the where you guys find out that I am having surgery) Sweet Pea finds out about Malachi. Sweet Pea feels betrayed, angered. They're having a fight. Sweet Pea is afraid that because she kept this one secret EX from him the next thing you know she'll be cheating on him. Tally just told him I don't want anyone else. They said I love you. The drag race. Tally won fair and square but Malachi still thinks she cheated. Tony scheduled the appointment.
Apparently you can't teach Thor how to cook. Tally isn't allowed in Asgard. Tally just called Vision a toaster. And in response Tony said don't call your little brother a toaster.
Family dinner. Everyone is there. Sweet Pea just got there. Thalia is the moderator. Nick Fury scares him. They are grilling him. Mario Kart tournament. Cap won.
Sweet Pea sending her bad pick up lines. MJ approves. Jughead asked for a favor. FP is getting out of prison.  Sweet Pea and Tally are talking about their future. (This is the last chapter I published before my surgery)
FP's retirement party. Tally inviting Sweet Pea to the Avenger's Christmas party and New Years Eve party and everyone else.
Her first appointment. Afterwards she went to the Wyrm. FP wants to talk to her. Tally has a spare key.
Social media special.
Trial of Nick St Clair. He lost.  Southside High has been shut down. Jade's period is late. Jade is pregnant. Welcome to Riverdale High Southside Serpents. Mantle being a dick.
The uniforms. Message from Hydra, her mom is alive.
She's known. (Srry, this is when my short term memory was hell so I don't remember it.) Her mother is a hydra agent and was using Tony. She even talked to her when she was kidnapped. FP isn't happy that Ruby lied to them all.
Sweet pea trying to stand up for tally when Jughead was trying to use her Fame for peaceful protest now that's awesome but Tally's okay with this because it's a peaceful protest and something she agrees with and told him it's okay. They bugged his trailer. They have the tesseract from Odin's Vault testing against Tally's blood panel. It keeps calling her name.
Even though they told her not to tell sweet pea she did. Peaceful protest. The statue had no head the next day and tally woke up with a fever, despite the super soldier serum. And she has a fever. Bruce thinks it's because of the tesseract because they have similar energy they're fighting dominance. Next day she's feeling better, and is being questioned by the sheriff.
Foreshadowing much. She's realizing that she was born to her mother just become hydras soldier. Tally's idea is that well her mom's playing chess they have to play poker. Sunnyside is getting evicted.
Her mother is at the Wyrm. Hello Ruby Lodge. That was intense. Tally just thanked Pepper for being her mom. FP trust her.
Veronica's confirmation. Jughead and Betty found the head. Back at the Wyrm. Tall boy was the one who did it. Going to Lodge Lodge.
I think that's an accurate description of Cheryl. Jughead had to reassure them that everything was fine. The Jughead Veronica kiss. They get to stay in Sunnyside trailer park.
Hiram Lodge bought the Riverdale register. The break-in. They decide to go after tally instead of Veronica because you know she's a Stark. That was a mistake because they isolated her and her room and she was able to overpower one of them and take their shotgun away. She also paged her dad. Hiram Lodge owns pops. Ethel dumped a whole strawberry milkshake on Veronica. Reggie being a dick. Ruby Lodge broke into sweet peas trailer talk to him.
Ruby wants to make a deal. Basically what happened with Malachi where he cheated to protect his sister. Ruby said she wants to make sure her daughter is dead inside. Cheryl's missing. Sweet pea has been distant. Sweet Pea is drinking away sorrows. And he cheated to protect his little sister and his mom.
Jade slapped him. Tony is there. Fangs sent her a photo of Sweet Pea cheating. She's questioning everything. The Avengers want to kick his ass. She went to his trailer. Swalia is over until they get their shit together. Carrie The Musical.
She went to Malachi. She went there for help but they ended up sleeping together. They agreed to be one time thing. The plan started, Malachi would pick her up from the musical the opening night. Ruby stopped them, saying she would kill Malachi if she didn't go with her. into which Malachi admits that he still loves her. But she loves sweet pea. The tranqed her and she woke up in a chair. 5 months later she was in Sweden by herself safe and sound. What you saw an article about Archie Andrews being questioned for a murder. And she thought she might have evidence for it or could get it so she's going back to Riverdale. Then flashback 5 months ago Tony's point of view, Malachi showed up to the school after Midge was murdered. Tally is prime suspect right now. She killed a hydra agent. Then 5 months later. Tony is a pops when he sees his daughter walk in with blonde hair.
She got lectured from Steve about running off for 5 months. She wants to tent city. Her and Sweet Pea had a good to talk. Ruby Lodge.
She just wants to talk. Ancient Norse prophecy. Tony asked Thor and he gulped. There is a prophecy and Thor and Loki believe it to be about Tally. Odin agrees. In the final battle she dies. Thornhill.
Ghoulies. Malachi questioning Penny Peabody's motives and then putting the fear of Tally. Jughead wondering what that was about. The iCarly reference though. "If you ever do that again you're grounded for... Till college." "For till college?" "For till college!"
(So the reason I kind of stopped doing the Instagram post was because after my surgery I kind of just lost all creative initiative to do it.) The video tally turned in was ruled of questionable origin. Thalia Stark is under arrest. I don't remember this plot line. They don't have a very solid case. Matt Murdock, Tally's lawyer, wants to push the case to New York. Charges were dropped thanks to Nicholas fury. Archie pleaded guilty, Malachi is leaving. He wants to see her before he leaves. Tally told him he would hold a special place in her heart. Riverdale high, next day.  They want to get Hiram Lodge arrested.
Sweet Pea and Tally are talking about what happened and Tally finally said what's been running through her head. Thalia is Jade's child's godmother. She told Jade about the prophecy.
Tony is acting weird at The mention of a game that hit Riverdale. Ghoulie hideout with Penny and Ruby. She scared the shit out of Penny Peabody. Veronica's grand opening. Tally is willing to let Sweet Pea try to earn her trust back. They kissed... No, they had sex. The manual.
Flashback episode. Secrets and sins. tally roasting her father. Ruby and Hiram arguing. The Ascension party. Tony basically explained everything to his daughter.
Sweet peas playing the game that Tony told her not to and she asked him not to. She said if you can please playing the game the deal is off so he said well done the deal is off and walked out. She's heartbroken. Archie prison fight club. Since tally is the closest thing they have to a trained doctor she is the one that's going to be at the bunker ready to patch Archie up. sweet peas apologizing. Starting Hiram lodges case.
Swedish Mafia. Sheriff Minetta grilling Tally. Casino night. Sweet pea and her hooked up again. Sweet Pea asked her on a date. After good advice my father she accepted it. When he came to pick her up Tony threatened him saying you already cheat on my daughter again I'm going to kill you which I think is Fair. After a good date he asked tally to be his girlfriend again. She said yes.
Cap wanting her to join RROTC. Not tally paying for Fangs mom's hospital bills. According to Pepper Starks are caffeine dependent insomniacs. Tally had cancer. Thor smashing a toaster. Cheryl the bitch.
Tally helping Sweet Pea study for SATs. Hiram got shot. Fangs is back in the Serpents. FP is Sheriff. Ruby Lodge. Half-sister Alicia von Strucker.
Sweet Pea is worried. Alicia meeting Sweet Pea. Jade's water broke. Thalia regrets not being there for Jade. She gabe her sister a nickname. Captain America Fitness Challenge. To the hospital to see her god child. Violet Thalia Oliver.
Alicia is 100 percent Ruby's daughter. Josie tried to ask sweet pea to go to her mom's wedding with her, Sweet Pea denied. Thalia defending her sister to the Avengers. The Pretty Poisons beat up Sweet Pea and Fangs. Tally rushed over to the Jones trailer where she had a run kn with Jughead's mom. She doesn't like Starks. Jughead now knows about her prophecy. Tally meet Jellybean and calls her an adorable human being. Jellybean fangirling. Jughead trusting Thalia with his life.
Jughead's mom being skeptical af. Tally didn't trust her. Chemistry Lab break in. Jughead asked her to help deal with it, as a favor. Kurtz just called her Malachi's ex-bitch. Sweet Pea is pissed but Tally's got it. After a little violence. She's going to go call Malachi. He gave some food advice. She made Jughead promise something. She caught Kurtz trying to kill Fangs. Jughead made her let him go. Sister bonding time.
Alicia's life story. The Gargoyle King sent her a message. Tally is keeping it a secret from Sweet Pea. FPs 50th.
HEATHERS PART 1. Call from Detective Benson, telling her Nick St. Clair is getting released because of 'overcrowding'. The Avengers are pissed, so is Sweet Pea. Tally is playing Veronica Sawyer. Alicia came to see her sister at rehearsal and brought her a red bull. Party. Okay, I'll admit that was a bad pun. Big Fun. She was tipsy for a second because of Asgardian beer. She steps outside, Ruby is there. She threw up on her biological mother's shoes. Tbh I tried to put more references to the musical in here. Dead girl walking. Practice next day. Everyone finding Nick St. Clair got released and them being pissed. Cheryl wants to castrate him, Reggie agrees. Que Nick St. Douchebag's entrance.
HEATHERS PART 2. When I published part 2, Chadwick Boseman passed away. Rest in Power. Sweet Pea and Archie holding her back but everyone who know exactly what happened was ready to beat his face in. Nick called Tally a ticking time bomb. He mentioned the prophecy. Tally threatening him. Tally has some explaining to do. Her going to Sheriff Jones to get a restraining order. Tally shading Steve. Seventeen. Dr Stephen Strange saved her life. Alicia texted her to meet her. She gonna blow up the school. Alicia cuffed her in vibranium cuffs, she called Shuri. Dead Girl Walking Reprise (What a bop tho) Kevin met her at the door she told him to evacuate the building as silently as possible. Boiler room. The fight for the gun. Alicia was dead. She was able to deactivate the bomb. She went outside where everyone was waiting and trying to calm Sweet Pea and Tony down. Then she saw Ruby and saw red. FRIDAY record the convo. Tally just said it's over amd told her mom to fuck off. Ruby is pissed because it's not her ending. Tally just walked away and kept walking. I'mma be honest these are my favorite chapters.
Since the funeral, tally isolated herself in a depression. Now she has a text from an unknown person to meet her at Sweetwater River. Chic. Malachi came to see her. They had a good talk, he made her realize some things.
Cheryl preaching the farm agenda to tally who's just trying to grieve her sister. So she gives Cheryl a verbal SmackDown. Toni being pissed about it. Tally doesn't want to go to prom, so instead she wants to take sweet pea on a date in New York. Betty's dad's prison bus exploding. Veronica being confused on why they would miss prom. I'm telling explains it she's like well I know when that used to be your preferred choice of setting. He's asking him to move on after the prophecy is complete and she's dead.
Veronica's Pop deed is fake. Veronica wants Tally to fight her father. Tally is unsure about it, she could kill her dad with a single punch. Toby agrees the best bet us Tally. Archie taking the ring with Hiram, could possibly get Archie killed. Fight night. He broke her nose. Tally did more damage to him of course. Hiram Lodge has been arrested. When her family and sweet pea find out that she was the reason Hiram Lodge got arrested in the first place. They were starting to get ready to go into business together and tell you didn't want Lodge industries to fuck over Stark industries. When she figured out moves from Avatar to last Airbender and legend of Korra. Her mom escaped from prison.
Avengers discussing protection for tally. Package for tally. Thalia Stank. It was from the gargoyle King but she played it off in front of the Avengers and just left. To go to the hunting cabin of the blossoms. Her mom is there. Time for the final quest. The first one is for Archie the grizzled beast. I love tally. Because when Archie says oh crap, she says I think you're allowed to say fuck in this situation. Archie wins though. Tally had to play Russian roulette to get her in with the swedish Mafia. The next task is for Veronica. All the chalices were poisoned so Betty and Veronica are both poisoned.
Tally's turn. The assassin card. Battle of Blood. Biological mother vs daughter. Thalia killed her biological mother. Jughead's turn. He had won. And finally Betty's turn. She shut off her dad's fingers. After Penelope give the order to kill them all Thalia made a giant barrier with her powers. The farm ascended, leaving Kevin behind. The Avengers were shocked about what happened.
Filler chapter. Therapist appointment. Pop's with her dad. Tally remembering. Sweet Pea checking on her. Sweet Pea wants to run away with her, maybe run away from all of it but tally knows she can't. Then the next week tally knew the prophecy would be complete.
The beginning of infinity war. Dr strange. Wong knows about the prophecy while doctor strange doesn't. Tony just trying to protect his daughter. Tally got knocked unconscious. Bruce woke her up, Tony and Peter Parker are in space trying to save Doctor strange and keep the time Stone out of thanos's hands. At the compound talking about what to do. Tally knows someone.
Tally dreaming of the infinity Stones and seeing Thanos. Shuri. Things have entered the atmosphere. Tally's iron daughter suit. The fight has begun. Cap saying fuck. Thanos is coming for vision. Telling us what's happening to the stones right now. She bloodbended Thanos but the Avengers couldn't get to Thanos quick enough to get the glove off so he snapped. They lost. Tally is gone and so is half of the universe.
Nat is regretting not getting to Thanos quick enough to get to the glove off of him while tally bloodbended him. Tony found out that she's able to bloodbend. Tony passing out. Going to go kill Thanos. Nat and Thor explaining Thalia to Rocket. Thor went for the head.
5 YEARS LATER. Natasha's point of view. Meeting, Barton murdering people, Steve stopping by. She's remembering tally, reminiscing with Steve. Scott Lang. Quantum realm. Tony's point of view. Morgan Stark. Them telling the plan to Tony. Him thinking it's risky. Tony is salty about the fact that if they were close enough when tally bloodbended than Thanos they could have been done they could have won but they lost. Scott's trying to play with his heartstrings, mentioning tally, his first born daughter.
Bruce banner/hulk talking about the time travel thing . Tony's POV. While washing dishes he looks at a photo thinking of his daughter, tally. He decided he has to do it to see her again. He figured out time travel. Pepper finding out you figured out time travel. He's going to do it. Natasha's POV next morning. Scott time traveling going wrong. Steve POV. Walking outside seeing car pull up. Cap getting his shield back. But there's something Tony has to do before he gets to work.
He went to go see Malachi. He want to let Malachi know that there was hope. Malachi gave him a flash drive of Tally's research guy she entrusted him with five years ago. Clint testing the time travel machine worked. When Tony opened the flash drive he realized that a lot of it was mapped out for him already. Tally made a video titled if we lost. Time travel time. New York 2012. Time Stone.
Tony's POV, then Steve's POV. Not Steve saying hail Hydra. Tony's POV. Scott giving 2012 Tony a heart attack. Tesseract sliding to Loki. Steve POV. "That is America's ass" I think that's all I have to say for that part. Bruce's POV. Him telling her that Strange gave it away. She gave him the time stone. Tony POV. Deciding to go to New Jersey.
1970. Tony's point of view. Tony seeing his dad and getting the tesseract. Steve's point of view. Getting Hank Pym to run down the hallway. Tony's POV. Talking to his dad. Avengers compound. Natasha was gone. Grieving Natasha. Making the gauntlet, Thor going to stop his fingers then stop him Bruce snapping his fingers. It worked. Then disaster struck a missiles blew away the Avengers compound. Thanos sat waiting for the Avengers. Thanos vs Steve, Thor and Tony. Tony getting knocked out. Steve POV. Picks up Thor's hammer. Everyone is back. Tally is back.
Tally POV. Tally and Tony reuniting. Female team up without Nat. Tally took the stones before he could snap."You are so fucked." She turned to dust. Tony's POV. She started glowing. He grieved. Sweet Pea is at Stark Tower. He found out she sacrificed herself. The funeral. Tally is alive.
The scene with death. When Tally woke up she didn't remember anything. Everyone is shocked. Wanda jogged her memory. She explained everything. She met Morgan.
Graduation. Tally's POV. She was the valedictorian. She's going to MIT. Sweet Pea proposed. When she graduated, taking on Stark industries, she made sure it was clear the weapons will never be apart of Stark Industries again. When Sweet Pea and Tally got married she found out she was pregnant. Sweet Pea's name is this is Nathan Mantle. In the end they had 3 kids. Nick St. Clair got killed by the Swedish Mafia. She is the Iron Daughter.
Overall, I'm going to admit I don't remember writing half of this story because of my brain surgery and I was working on it during this. I love this story, it is my first time reading it all at once but I am partial to it because I worked on it for almost a full year and is the first Riverdale x Avengers crossover fic on wattpad. There is somethings I was contemplating, like who she was going to end up with, if she was going to die in the first snap or not. I was also going to do a part where she goes into hiding with Harley from Iron Man 3 and works as a waitress in a little diner as a cover, saying she's Harley's cousin, wearing a wig and contacts but I felt that'd make the story too long. But there are a few things I'm iffy about so 9/10.

Adjustments
Haven is full of surprises. Sequel to Eye for an Eye.
Qrow talks for a long time, long enough for the sun to set and evening to fall. All of it seems impossible, talk of gods and monsters and maidens and magic, but Qrow is as serious as Ruby has ever seen him, and he wouldn't lie about something like this.
So, Ruby believes him, and she says as much. That doesn't mean that it's easy to hear. Jaune is angry, especially about the parts that relate to Pyrrha, and Ruby doesn't exactly blame him.
Still, she tries to maintain the peace. They need to be able to work together now, if the threat that they're facing is as serious as Qrow is making it out to be.
Especially if there's going to be an attack on Haven. Ruby has already lost her school; she's not going to let another get destroyed if there's anything she can do to stop it.
"What about the school? We have to warn them!" Nora exclaims, echoing her thoughts.
"I'm sure the headmaster is already aware that his school might be in danger, and he'll have taken some of the necessary precautions." Qrow assures them. "Plus, I don't know if you kids have noticed, but it's a bit late to be heading over to the school right now." He gestures to the windows. It's well into evening at this point, and the sky outside is rapidly growing dark.
"Well, what should we do then?" Ruby asks. She hates the idea of sitting around doing nothing when they've just learned of the dangers out there waiting for them.
"I'm going to get a drink," Qrow announces. She pins him with an unimpressed stare. "You kids should eat dinner or something, get some more rest. We'll head over to visit the school when it's light out, and I'll introduce you to the headmaster, Professor Lionheart."
"Don't stay out too late!" Ruby calls after him.
With Qrow gone, they fall into silence. Ruby wonders if the others are as scared as she is, if they're as worried about Salem and Cinder and Tyrian. A little shudder runs through her at the thought of Tyrian in particular.
Finally, Ren breaks the silence. "I guess I can try to put something together to eat."
"Wait, before you go, there's something I need to tell you guys," Ruby announces, taking a deep breath to brace herself.
"What is it, Ruby?" Jaune asks, looking at her in concern.
"Please tell me you don't have more bad news!" Nora says. "I don't think I could handle any more at this point."
"No, it's nothing like that," Ruby reassures her. "It's just—I'm really sorry I dragged you guys into this. This is all my fault."
All three of them stare at her in confusion.
"Ruby, what are you talking about?" Ren asks.
"I—I shouldn't have asked you guys to come. I've put you all in so much danger, and I'm so sorry for everything that's happened."
"Ruby, you didn't drag us into anything!" Nora reassures her. "Besides, if we hadn't come with you, you would have faced this on your own, and that's just not right."
"But you guys didn't know, about Salem, and Tyrian and the maidens and—"
"Ruby." Jaune looks thoughtful. "You lost—we all lost Pyrrha." The four of them collectively flinch at the mention of their fallen friend's name, but Jaune collects himself again and carries on. "You lost Penny, and Beacon, and your team, and in a way, you lost your sister, too. But you're still here. You're still moving forward. If anything, we should be thanking you. You didn't drag us along, you gave us the courage to follow you."
Ruby can't bring herself to speak, so she just steps forward and hugs Jaune, burying her suspiciously wet face in his shoulder and sniffling quietly.
"Thank you," she mumbles, when she finally trusts herself to speak again.
"Oh yeah, group hug time!" Nora tackles the two of them into the couch.
"Nora, please refrain from breaking any of the furniture," Ren sighs. "And Ruby, we really should have thanked you sooner for inspiring us to keep moving forwards as well. None of us regret coming on this journey, I can assure you that."
"Thank you, Ren." Ruby gives him a watery smile, wiping her face on her sleeve. "I'm so grateful to all of you guys, really. There's no way I could have done this on my own."
"I really am going to cook dinner now."
"You should make pancakes!" Nora calls after him, scrambling up and abandoning her victims on the couch in favor of following him.
"Nora, we had pancakes for breakfast."
Ruby's plan for the evening is fairly simple: eat dinner, write a letter to her sister, to let her know how things are going, and turn in nice and early so she can be well rested for tomorrow.
The first two parts go without a hitch. Ren's cooking is delicious as always, and she finishes writing her letter to Yang and makes sure that it's ready to be mailed tomorrow. But it all falls apart after she climbs into bed.
She can't fall asleep. She tosses and turns and stares at the ceiling for hours, growing more and more frustrated by the minute. She's exhausted, so why can't she sleep?
When she does finally fall asleep, it's anything but peaceful. The old nightmares about Pyrrha and Penny and Yang losing her arm all make their appearances, but they're joined by a new one. In her dreams, Tyrian cackles wildly, and taunts her with the promise of taking her other eye. She jolts awake several times throughout the night, gasping for air and heart pounding.
She's not in a great mood by the time morning rolls around.
Ruby glowers at the coffee mug, sitting there innocently on the table. She reaches for the handle, simple enough—and misses, her fingers brushing empty air. Gritting her teeth, she forces herself not to growl in frustration.
Across from her, Jaune opens his mouth to offer to help—then immediately snaps it shut when he sees the murderous expression on her face.
Concentrating hard, she reaches for the cup again, this time paying careful attention to where her hand is in relation to the cup. She's rewarded with her fingers finally grasping the handle, and she brings the mug to her mouth to take a sip. The cup bumps against her chin awkwardly, but it's still less clumsy than her first few attempts.
The small success doesn't make her feel any better. If she's struggling this much with just grabbing a cup of coffee, how in the world is she going to manage when fighting Grimm?
Plus, if her stupid brain had just let her sleep last night, she wouldn't be having to drink this disgusting crap in the first place!
Trying to think about something more positive, she lets herself wonder what Haven Academy is like. Just when she's about to start wondering aloud where Qrow is, he pokes his head through the door. "You kids ready to head to the school?"
Nodding, she gets to her feet, abandoning the mug on the table with one last glare in its direction.
Maybe things will start looking up after they meet with the headmaster.
She shouldn't have gotten her hopes up.
Their meeting with Professor Lionheart is less than helpful, and Qrow ditches them to go off drinking again. By the time they make their way back to the house, Ruby is frustrated and exhausted. She mails her letter to Yang and retreats back to her room to read a comic and hopefully calm down a little.
She's definitely not sulking, okay?
Of course, a girl can't even read in peace these days. Just as she's getting to the good part, she hears a commotion from downstairs. Sighing loudly, she puts down the comic and goes to check it out.
Nora better not be trying to redecorate again.
Whatever she was expecting, it definitely wasn't a farm boy and a very drunk (and very happy?) Qrow.
The unfamiliar boy turns to face Ruby. "You have silver eyes," he says, looking at her thoughtfully.
Ruby backs away a step, entire body going tense. Before, it was just an odd comment people occasionally made when they met her, but after running into Tyrian, it makes her feel uncomfortable. Hunted. It feels like a threat.
Who is this guy, and what does he want?
"My name is Oscar Pine, but you probably know me better as Professor Ozpin."
. . . What?

"I Think You're My Dad!"
Monday 5th October 2020
Good evening everyone! I hope you've all had an enjoyable weekend! I'm so happy to be back posting about a fresh new week on the Square. I'm not going to waste any of your time, let's just get right to it shall we? The episode starts this evening with Linda, obviously reeling from the events the night before. But what is she more guilty about, kissing Max or having a gulp of alcohol?! Mick and Tina join her in the living room, Tina also appears to reeling from the night before. I love the way she comes in complaining about how Frankie has been giving her the eyes all week, end up rejecting her as soon as she makes a move - and of course while Tina is talking about this, the only thing Linda has to say is "Just because you enjoy someone's company doesn't mean you need to stick your tongue down their throat!" - she's obviously speaking about herself and Max there! I love that, how it links with both Linda's situation and Tina's situation, it's brilliant! As Linda leaves the room, she suggests cooking a meal for both her a Mick that night. The next section, Tina is trying to understand why Frankie would give her the cold shoulder, as she's discussing it to Mick, he is - as nicely as possible, trying to persuade Tina to stay away, but Tina takes the conversation completely the wrong way and thinks that Mick is suggesting that Frankie is just shy, Tina then comes to the conclusion that Frankie absolutely fancies her! Is this still going to end in heartbreak for Tina?
At the Atkins household, Mac is trying to wake his Father up. We can see from the state of the room that Gray has been looking through some paper work, is it about Chantelle or could it in fact be revolving around Whitney's upcoming trial? The boy is trying to wake his Dad up, as he is absolutely flat out on the bedroom floor! Something tells me that Gray isn't coping, isn't coping under the pressure of trying to hide the fact that he murdered his wife? The fact the he has Whitney's trail coming up soon? Or is he just simply still grieving for his wife as regretting his huge mistake? As his son shouts at him to wake him, his phone begins to ring ... from what I can make out, the paperwork spread out on the bed, definitely has something to do with Whitney's trial!
At the Panesar's, Suki and Ash are discussing both Kheerat and Vinny. As Suki enters the room she is carrying a basket of dirty laundry. She asks her daughter whether she has seen her brother, Ash informs her that he didn't come back to the house until the early hours of the morning. Kheerat is still devastated about Chantelle, he's still grieving for the woman he grew to love. As Suki is saying that Kheerat needs to move on, (of course she's such a disheartening woman) - she finds Jag's jeans with a blood stain on the bottom, Martin's blood. You can she is absolutely livid, she frets that what if the police had searched the flat and found his stained jeans, the family could've been in huge trouble. Ash tells her not to worry, but I think deep down, Suki is thinking about teaching her son a lesson. As this is happening, Jags is at the restaurant with Habiba, she is praising him of how proud she is of him finally standing up to his Mum, as she is complimenting her boyfriend, Iqra sees them from a distance, it's clear to her that they have been dating, she's glad to see her sister looking happy, she suggests to them to finally come out and make their relationship public, much to Jag's surprise, Habiba agrees and sets a time to tell Jags' family.
At the Mitchell household, it looks as if Phil is running past Callum some things he wants him to check out at the police station, does he want to know how much the police have on him? No matter how small it may be! As Callum agrees, Ben enters the room, to which Phil responds to leaving the room. Ben knows that his Dad his boyfriend to do something. Callum reveals that actually he wants him to check all the files of Raymond's adoptive family, clearly this is going to be Phil's way of getting all the information that he needs to set up a case for maybe fighting for custody? Ben's concern is Callum could lose his job if he keeps helping his Dad, but he reassures his boyfriend that everything will be under control.
Meanwhile, at the Prince Albert, Tina is finally catching up with Frankie. She informs her of how great and successful her Drag Bingo night was! At first the conversation between them both seems friendly, they're both smiling and laughing. It's only when Tina turns to conversation around and mentions her advances the night before, Frankie starts to go cold, Tina tries to reassure her that it's okay to be shy, she in fact finds it really cute. Frankie stands her ground and insists that she's not shy, something is possibly telling me that Frankie isn't really gay? Or maybe she is but yet knows she can't get too close to Tina? I'm unsure. As soon as Tina mentions the photos that Frankie has taken of her and her family, Tina plays - thinking it's because she has a crush on her and reaches for the camera on the side of the bar. As she does so, Frankie lunges towards it at the same time and the camera ends up falling off the bar counter and smashes. Frankie is left devastated as Tina is more than apologetic.
Whilst this is happening, Max finds Linda in the laundrette, you can sense the awkwardness between them. Linda is clearly not wanting to be anywhere near Max right now, as Mick mentioned earlier in the soap, she was meant to be meeting up with Max and children so they could have a little play-date. As Max questions where she had been, Linda shrugs it off and uses the excuse of taking Ollie to school instead. This seems like a reasonable explanation, Max tries to apologise, insisting that what happened between them last night, he doesn't want to affect the children's friendship and play-dates. Linda assures him that the children will still have their time to play together, as he goes to leave the building, a tiny little voice emerges from the back, calling for his Mummy, we see the tiny silhouette of little Ollie. Max turns gets the message instantly as he looks at Linda, with that, he leaves.
Then at the Minute Mart, Suki and Vinny are discussing a message that Jags has sent them all, meeting at the Vic to show them something and begging them to not be angry. Vinny tries to assure his Mother that it'll be an apology for the way he behaved the night before. Suddenly, a Detective enters the shop, as they both clap eyes on him, Suki signals for Vinny to leave the room as she speaks with the Detective. It appears that due to no one coming forward or them not being able to find any form of finger-prints or DNA as to who attacked Martin Fowler and who broke into the shop, they will be closing the case and moving on to other things. Of course this is the news Suki has been waiting for! This must surely mean that Vinny is in the clear?! She puts on a front to the Detective and as she plays victim, but truthfully she'll be as pleased as punch!
The next scene, we're at Ruby's club where Gray is meeting his colleague, Laura. We learn from this meeting two things. One - Whitney's day in court is coming up, and two Chantelle's funeral is tomorrow! Gray is insistent that he is wanting to come to court to fight for Whitney, I guess you could say that he begs his colleague to let him take on Whitney's case. It's true that he's been doing everything he can to win Whitney's case and to stop her going to prison, he has been working so so hard, but Laura worries that he might not be in the right frame of mind, considering he's just lost his wife. But Gray is adamant, he makes the point that he has the rest of his life to grieve for Chantelle, if she'll just let him do this for Whitney. What do you think? I'm not sure what to think of this one, I could be completely wrong, but I think with all the stress and pressure that Gray is under right now, plus I guess you could say he is grieving to - I think he could potentially ruin Whitney's case and balls it all up! That's just my guess, but who knows what's going to happen? Will he be able to pull it off and help Whitney?!
Back at the Prince Albert, Tina is informing Mick about her encounter with Frankie. She tells him everything, on how she's feeling guilty and embarrassed for making a move on the poor girl, to then accidently causing her to smash her camera. Mick tells his sister again that it might be best if she was to stay away, but Tina goes on to mention to Mick the similarities between Frankie and the Carter family. Mainly Ollie, she mentions to him that Frankie supposedly had a younger brother who was Ollie's age, who was also autistic, as Mick is taking in all this information, I think he's come to realise there is something more dodgy about Frankie than he first realised. What is she playing at? What is her game and what does she want with the Carter family? As Mick is bringing together his thoughts about Frankie, Linda calls him, asking him to come an pick his son up. Little do we know that as she hangs up the phone, Frankie has appeared at the laundrette. Ollie is wanting to go to the park, so Frankie offers to take him, much to Linda's surprise. As a precaution, Linda asks her son if he feels comfortable going to the park with her, the little boy nods and Linda agrees to let Frankie take him. Is she making a big mistake? What is Mick going to think when he finds out? As this storyline goes on, I'm really intrigued to see what happens - I can't wait for Frankie's big reveal!
At the Vic, Habiba can be seen looking pretty nervous for what is about to happen. Vinny, Ash and Suki are waiting for Jags to turn up, they're speculating what Jag's news could be. As Suki makes herself comfortable, Jags enters the bar and approaches his family, he announces "I'd like to introduce my girlfriend!" he looks over and Habiba approaches them from the other end of the bar. Ash and Vinny are clearly in shock, Vinny - more disbelief! Ash's response is that her girlfriend, Habiba's sister, Iqra never mentioned anything to her. Habiba is shy and polite as she greets Suki with a cupcake. Suki looks at her up and down, asks the question whether they are serious about each other and that's when Jags and Habiba admit that they do in fact love each other. Everyone is visibly happy for the couple, all except Suki! We can see the glare in her eyes, but once again, she puts on a front and welcomes Habiba to the family. She insists that all that matters to her is her children's happiness, but as she leaves the Vic, we can see that she is less than impressed and chucks her cupcake in the bin!
Back at the Prince Albert, Mick sees Linda approaching, he notices that Ollie isn't with her. He asks whether Max has taken him to the park, but Linda then reveals that he's actually with Frankie. Mick's face drops! Of course, Linda can't understand why Mick is so concerned, she tells him that Frankie is good and she knows about autistic children, but that doesn't stop Mick in his tracks as he dashed off to collect his son. Meanwhile, Callum is shining Lexi's tap shoes all ready for her dance grading. Ben is surprised to his boyfriend at home, asking whether he should be working. Callum assures him that he wouldn't miss Lexi's dance for the world, he'll go to the police station tomorrow instead. He then goes on to explain to his boyfriend that, just because he's helping Phil out now and again, it doesn't mean that things have to change between them. He reveals that the only reason he's helping Phil out, is for Ben alone. As Ben goes to help his daughter find her dress, Callum gets a phone call - from what we can make out, the police station. It looks as if he's needed at the station promptly, he tries his best to explain that he can't do what they're asking him right now, but as he hears more he realises he has to leave. Could this mean he's going to miss Lexi's dance? Will there be more disappointment ahead for Ballum?
Back with Suki, we can see she's in cafe! At first I'm watching this feeling very confused, it looks like she's talking to herself? Is she trying to find the right words to say to Jags about his relationship with Habiba?! We hear her saying things such as looking after her children and not wanting them to make the wrong choices in life ... OH MY GOD! My jaw has just dropped!!! She's only gone and stitched her own son up for the attack on Martin!!! She's sat with the Detective and in a plain see-through bag, we can see Jag's blood-stained jeans. I don't know about you guys, but I think Suki has become one of the most nastiest females on the soap that we've seen for a long time! I don't think there's been an evil female since Janine, perhaps? Is Suki up there with Janine? Do you hate her as much as I do! I'd love to know your thoughts on Suki!
At the park, Mick has finally found Frankie with Ollie. Mick demands to know where Ollie is, Frankie points and we can see the young boy playing happily in the park. Frankie apologises for worrying him and assures him that Ollie is fine. But Mick is having none of her politeness, he knows something about her isn't quite right. He tries to be sympathetic with her, saying that how she losing a young brother must've been hard for her, but he needs to know what's going on. He decides to ask her all the important questions there and then, why is she so interested in their family? Why has she been leading Tina on? Frankie apologises for leading his sister on, she tries to simply say that she just wanted to be her friend, wanted to be Linda and Mick's friend also. But something doesn't fit right with Mick, why did she take the photos? Frankie realises that this conversation is beginning to escalate, she tells him to forget about it, but he simply can't. What does she want with his family? It's then that Frankie drops the huge bombshell - she believes that Mick could in actual fact be her Dad!
Now, as big as that reveal is! My first question is, who could is Frankie's mother? As far as I know, Mick as only ever been with Linda, as far as they've made out, they've been together since school? Mick and Linda are childhood sweethearts, right? So who the hell could be Frankie's mother? Did Mick perhaps cheat on Linda years back? Was it a one-off? Is Frankie the result of a one night stand? I know these are so many questions, but this is what's running through my mind at the moment! We know there's going to be a new character arriving in the Square, and they also have something to do with the Carter family, the name of the new character has not yet been revealed, all we know is that it's a female. Could she be Frankie's Mum?! It might make perfect sense, Frankie appears to be on her own at the moment, we don't know where she has come from or who her family are. Is EastEnders going to be working on a full story for Frankie, is she going to become a more regular part of the soap and have her own Mother move to the Square, just to make life hell for Mick and the Carter's? I think it makes perfect sense! I am so convinced that that is what is going to happen. I could be completely wrong, but I am so looking forward to seeing how Frankie's story progresses, I really like her character and I hope she'll be a part of the soap for the foreseeable future.
Please feel free to leave me message, I'd love to know your thoughts on tonight's episode. I'll be back tomorrow following Tuesday's episode. Goodnight and sweet dreams everyone! xXx

As your group of friends sat around Sam’s living room, eyes focused on the TV screen in front of them. Mouths dropped open, the fear radiating off every single one of them, creating a ball of it in the middle of the room. Making the air feel thicker, harder for them to breath but they didn’t notice. The only thing that had their attention was the ‘Public Service Announcement’ that was blaring on Sam’s TV that was hanging from the wall. The only sound in the room was the loud beeping and the women’s loud voice that was spilling through the speakers that Sam had placed on the floor and the flatscreen. You and Colby basically fell through the door, laughing your asses off from a joke that Colby made before swinging the door of Sam’s apartment open. The fearful looks that you got from all of your friends sobered you and Colby up really quick. “You guys are looking at us like someone died, “ You joked trying to enlighten the heavy mood that was set. Your remark only caused your friends eyes to widened impossibly wider, “Someone did die,” Katrina spoke, her voice was trembling as she spoke. Colby’s arm tightened around your waist, pulling you tighter against him. “What are you talking about?” Colby asked from behind you. His voice was one of wonder and nervousness.
The blaring noise beeped again causing all of our attention to snap over to the TV once more, “This is not a test.” A women’s voice came through the speakers, almost sounding animatronic like. “This an emergency announcement sanctioned by The U.S Government. There has a murder that took place tonight outside the club ‘Boarder’s Night Club’ located in North Hollywood. Officers and the F.B.I are working to find who the main suspect could be. The sex, age, and name of the the victim is being foreclosed for their privacy.” The same voice continued to flow throughout the apartment. Your eyes were wide and your breathing began to pick up, your hands shaking violently by your sides. Colby slipped his arm from your waist to your hands, holding them tightly, trying to calm your nerves. “Everyone is being advised to stay away from any Night Clubs or Bars until further notice. We are trying to keep everyone as safe as possible. If anyone has any information on the murder that had taken place this tragic evening, please contact 911 immediately. May you all be safe.”  The announcement ended with the same ear splitting static blare.
Your eyes dragged from the television to all of your friends, who you’re sure their faces mirrored your own. Mouths agape, eyes wide, hands shaking, and eyes watering out of fear. “ They wouldn’t announce it if it was like any other murder,” Sam’s voice broke through the silence of the room. You nodded your head, lifting your hand wipe your tears, “ Yeah, if were any other murder it would’ve been on the news, not an emergency announcement,” you agreed. All the voices of your close friends rang through the space, it was a whirlwind of yelling and concern. You’re sure that you head a couple of sniffles from the girls and maybe some of the guys but you couldn’t exactly pinpoint who they belonged to. Your heart was racing, your eyes raking from one friend to the next, mind running one hundred miles an hour as you desperately tried to take in the situation. However, everyone's mouth snapped shut when the door flung open to reveal Aryia and Corey. Their own eyes wide and disbelieving, “ Did you hear?” Ariya asked locking the door behind them. Colby dragged you to Sam’s moveable loveseat, pulling you onto his white jean covered lap. Wrapping a protective arm around your waist he replied, “ Yeah we heard. “ Your eyes searched the boys that had just walked in. Taking in their appearance. You could see that their hands shaking and they looked just as nervous, if not more nervous than you guys. But the thing that stood out the most was how their hair was mussed and clothing rippled in some places.
Other than that nothing about them struck you as odd for all of you were scared, shaking like you were in shock..and maybe you were. Maybe the news of the newly found murder had shocked you all into fear. It was weird, not only because it was a murder but because it was such a bad one. So bad that they broadcasted it as a ‘Public Service Announcement’. It’s nerve-wracking to say the least. There is someone out there that murdered someone and they are still walking around as if they hadn’t just ended someone's life. “It feels like the purge had just begun and it’s making me more creeped out,” Mike spoke from his seat on the couch. His comment broke through the uneasy silence that once filled the room, “It does feel like that, and those movies never turn out well,” you replied shifting in Colby’s lap. Sam sat up, rubbing his chinstrap, “Okay, well let’s think of it realistically. It happened at Boarder’s Night Club, we have no idea the time estimate of the murder. We only know where it happened. If we can somehow get into the files of who was there that night, we might be able to get a suspect.” Reggie sat up as well, chewing on his bottom lip, “That might work. I could get into Boarders security footage and the bouncers list. I just need my computer and I’ll have to be able to pinpoint the exact I.P address.” I nodded my head, “ I can help with the I.P and security footage. I used to do that all the time in highschool.” you said looking around to see if everyone was following. After receiving nods from everyone, you knew that everyone understood what we were talking about. “But how long would that take?” Cassie asked pulling her newly dyed black hair up in a messy bun.
You hummed, chewing on the inside of your cheek while you thought. To be honest, it won’t take that long with you and Reggie both working on it. You both are good with tech and hacking since you took tech/ electronic classes in high school. Plus you practiced it past school as well, “ With both of us working on getting into the Clubs’ security, it won’t take long.” You said looking back at your boyfriend who was just sitting there silently debating in his head. You could tell that he was thinking something through, “Are you okay?” You whispered. Your voice was enough to pull him from his mind, his blue eyes snapping up to meet your own. Colby nodded, “ Yeah, just thinking. I remember that someone I follow on instagram was at that night club tonight.” He said. Your eyes widened and you jumped off of his lap, “ Well check!” you exclaimed. Colby hurriedly pulled his phone from the front pocket of his white jeans. “Wait, what is happening?” Devyn asked. You whirled around to face your worried friends that were spread throughout the apartment, “Someone that Colby follows was at Boarders’ tonight, if we find out who it was then we could talk to them and see if they know anything about what happened tonight.” You explained. Just as Tara was about to say something, Colby revealed who was there tonight, “It was Brennen, he was there tonight with this girl he has been talking to.” “What’s the girls name?” Corey asked pulling out his phone. “Umm...Ruby,” Colby said looking up from his phone. Everyone was silent for a moment before he held up his phone, “Got it. Her name is Ruby Lopez. She posted on her story thirty minutes ago. It was of her and Brennen dancing in his apartment.” “What about her earlier slides?” you asked walking over to where Corey and Ariya still stood by the door. You glanced over his shoulder to see the screen of his iPhone. “Uh yeah. Two hours ago she was at Boarders’ with Brennen, taking shots at the bar. An hour ago she posted a video of them dancing on each other, still at Boarders’. Then that’s it before her post at his apartment.” Corey said shutting off his phone and sliding it back into his pocket. “Okay so two hours ago was ten o’ clock pm,” Mike said rubbing his tattoo covered arm, “ And since that place is always packed, it wouldn’t take long to find the body. The announcement sounded out twenty minutes ago which means that the murder couldn’t of happened too, too long ago.” You said walking back over to Colby. “You’re right. It would’ve taken place about an hour or two hours ago.” Colby said while pulling you down into his lap once more. A short lived silence filled the room once more, “We know what we need to do,” Kevin said. You nodded your head,
“Hack the program, find the murderer.”

what you gon’ do (when there’s blood in the water)
Summary:
“You’re going to put all the red, red rubies back inside her chest or I’m going to bleed them out of you instead.” Alice singsongs, eyes pointedly sliding sideways.
Batwoman is unconscious and bleeding out in front of her clinic, with something that looks like the length of an arrow sticking out of her stomach. So Mary's got a homicidal villain and a potentially dying vigilante on her hands and… wow, she really regrets not drinking that fifth cup of coffee.
/or/
The obligatory ‘Mary finds out Kate is Batwoman in the most stressful manner possible’ fic.

---
Most times Mary doesn’t mind having long days, she would never have made it through almost two and a half years of medical school, let alone added running an illegal clinic to her resume, if she couldn’t cut it on four hours of sleep and power naps all over the place - well, if she could add that to her resume without promptly landing across the desk from her head of the Crows step-father as he just sat there... and stared, silent and furious, or worse... called her mother.
But most days aren’t today. And today she’s been up since 4 am because of an attempted bombing at a housing complex in the poorer part of Gotham. The bomb itself hadn’t hurt anyone - Mary heard that apparently Batwoman had jumped on it, taking the brunt of the explosion with her body armor - but the evacuation had caused a panic and there’d been a stampede.
Which meant that those hurt that had the means probably went to Gotham Central Hospital. And those without health insurance who couldn’t afford to pay two thousand dollars or more for a broken arm, went to her. So yeah, it’s 2 am of the next night and she’s running on four cups of coffee and one ten minute nap six hours ago.
She considers if she needs another cup to get through getting home but decides that would probably bite her once she’s in her nice warm bed, lying on her Egyptian cotton sheets and can’t close her eyes.
Mary’s actually almost out of there when there’s three neat knocks on the metal doors of her clinic. Mary stops in place, - her bag almost over her shoulder - and groans aloud. Or sobs, it might have been a sob.
She drops the bag and walks for the door, reaching it, she lightly hits her head against the cool metal before gathering enough strength of will to actually open the door.
If no one’s dying she might kill them herself.
-or - and she might just be spit-balling here, a hysterical corner of her mind chimes in - she might be the one who’s about to die.
The person on the other side of the door is Red Alice and tonight she’s really seemed to have earned her name, because she is covered in blood.
Mary opens her mouth for what promises to be the loudest, most high pitched, blood curdling scream in her arsenal when Alice moves and slams her palm over Mary’s mouth, the other one lands on her throat, squeezing - just slightly but Mary gets the message.
“Quiet like a mouse, my dear. Cats are on the prowl and we don’t want them on our tails.” Alice snaps at her, eyes flashing.
Gasping and trying to think past the terror, she tries to remember where she’d put the gun Beatrice - the mother with no insurance and a son with a severe peanut allergy - had given her after the last time Alice had directed her attention toward Mary. But it’s locked inside the drawer of her desk, and her desk is in the other room. There’s no way she’s getting to it before Alice does whatever she came here to do.
“What... what do you want?” Mary rasps out as soon as Alice’s left hand leaves her mouth - her right is still dangerously close to a carotid artery. She doesn’t want to think about exactly how fast Alice can go for one of those knives she likes to play with so much any time she drops a video message for Gotham.
“You’re going to put all the red, red rubies back inside her chest or I’m going to bleed them out of you instead.” Alice singsongs, eyes pointedly sliding sideways.
Mary’s eyes follow her and land on a second person she hadn’t noticed in her initial terror over seeing Gotham’s most wanted. Though the fact that the woman who’s slumped against the wall a few feet away is wearing all black might have helped conceal her in those first moments, now though Mary can’t look away from the shock of red hair lying in a mess around her masked head. The identity of the body is unmistakable.
Batwoman is unconscious and bleeding out in front of her clinic, with something that looks like the length of an arrow sticking out of her stomach. So Mary’s got a homicidal villain and a potentially dying vigilante on her hands and... wow, she really regrets not drinking that fifth cup of coffee.
Mary’s mind is blank with confusion, - exhaustion - the scene just doesn’t make sense. Since the Batwoman’s appearance months ago there’s been dozens of reported clashes between her and Red Alice in the news.
“Why would you want me to save Batwoman?” She asks, her heart - which had already been running - feels like it’s just picked up even more speed and is well on the way to beating its way out of her chest.
She tips a bit forward to get a better look, still careful of Alice’s uncertain motives, and the door she’d opened moments before slides open a little wider. She knows that Alice says something then but she doesn’t hear it past the buzzing in her ears, the light from the doorway has moved and landed on the lower half of Batwoman’s face.
“Oh, God.” Mary gasps and pushes Alice away, no longer caring about the threat she brings to her. “Kate!”
In a moment she’s on her knees beside her sister, assessing the injury. Penetrating trauma to the upper right abdomen. She’s breathing but Mary can’t get at her pulse, the armor that somehow hasn’t protected her from whatever happened is instead getting in the way of Mary’s attempt to get at a pulse point. She doesn’t like how cold her face is to the touch though.
“Kate!” Mary tries to rouse her, slapping her lightly at the cheek. “Kate, can you hear me? Can you open your eyes?”
There’s no response. All her years at med-school have taught her how bad that is. Kate needs a hospital, she needs... she- Mary takes in the picture Kate makes and falters. She can’t take Batwoman to a hospital, which means she can’t take Kate to a hospital. Because if Kate is Gotham City’s new vigilante then the moment she gets identified she’ll get arrested, and getting arrested will get her killed.
For a moment Mary doesn’t know what to do and then her eyes land back on the murderer on her clinic's doorstep.
Alice is standing frozen, looking at Kate with a dazed expression, like reality isn’t really sinking in yet.
Two months ago this woman sent someone to kill her. And Mary would like nothing more than to get as far away from her as possible but right now she’s the only person around who can help Mary save Kate. Which is clearly a sentiment Alice shares or she would never have brought her here in the first place.
Smothering all other instincts Mary does what she has to.
“Help me get her inside.” She orders.
Alice doesn’t react, still staring at Kate.
“Alice.” Mary tries again.”We need to get her inside, Alice! Alice! Beth!”
That seems to have finally done it, because she lurches down to her knees to grab Kate by one of her arms while Mary goes for the other. Together they hoist Kate to her feet and start dragging her inside the building.
“How do you take this off?” Mary asks a minute later as soon as she has hastily disinfected the surface of the table she’s planning to put Kate on. First though they need to get her out of that armor.
As soon as Alice starts undoing something behind Kate’s back Mary joins her. They manage to free her from the costume without jostling the arrow too much and then finally Mary can see what she’s dealing with.
Kate’s pulse is steady but weak, which indicates she’s gone into Hypovolemia but she’s not quite in danger of her heart stopping. Yet. She needs a blood transfusion.
First things first she grabs two pairs of surgical gloves and throws one toward Alice. “Put those on!”
“Bossy.” Alice says and tut-tuts at her. Normally that would call for a more involved response but she follows her instructions so Mary just throws a hurried glare at her and lets it go.
As soon as their hands are covered by the latex gloves she pours some more of the disinfectant over them and then guides Alice to place her hands over Kate’s abdomen, carefully encircling the arrow in a way that makes sure it doesn’t move.
“Put pressure there.” Mary says and turns to run toward the back of the room to get her blood transfusion kit, she falters as she remembers Kate’s blood type. She doesn’t have any B negative blood and she’s fresh out of the O neg. She spins back around. “What’s your blood type?”
“What?”
“Your blood, do you have the same type as Kate?” She snaps, irritated at the delay of this conversation. At any other time she’d be far too terrified to yell at a known killer, right now she’s far more terrified of watching her si- watching Kate bleed to death.
“Yes. I think so.” Alice says.
“You think so, or you’re sure?” She asks, voice harsh, she’s moving again taking the kit and starting to unpack it so that if she gets the answer she needs she’s ready to do her job at once.
“I’m sure.” Alice says and her voice hardens with certainty. “We got tested in school. B negative?”
Mary exhales in relief and moves to insert the needle in Kate’s arm. Then she does the same to Alice and tries not to think too much about it.
Saving Kate’s life first. Figuring out how to survive the night in case Alice still plans to finish the job she started by sending her ax-happy boyfriend after her? Later.
---
The next half an hour had turned into a hectic rush of removing the arrow from Kate’s abdomen - which luckily hadn’t penetrated as deeply as Mary had feared - and replacing her lost blood with Alice’s before it became too dangerous for the donation to go on, and Mary was forced to replace the blood with a saline solution.
Getting the arrow out might have turned into more of a struggle than it would have been if the arrowhead had gone out her back but at least it had avoided piercing any of the major organs. It hadn’t actually even nicked her large intestine which is good because Mary doesn’t think she could have fixed that.
She’s already done more tonight than she’s entirely comfortable with doing inside the sub-par facilities available, actually. Or, you know, with still having a year and a half of medical school left to go.
And Red Alice is still only a few steps away from her.
Though at least now that she’s donated so much of her blood to Kate she should be woozy enough that Mary might be able to knock her out if the situation calls for it.
And Kate is stable.
Which means Mary’s mind is pulling back from the emergency mode of ‘Kate is dying’ and switching gears to ‘Kate is Batwoman’.
Which she hadn’t told Mary. Despite the fact that they’ve spoken more in the past two months than they had in the past five years combined, or the fact that Mary had thought they might actually have been starting to build the relationship she’d given up on ever sharing with her, or the fact that Kate knew Mary’s big ‘go-to-jail-if-ever-found-out’ secret but at no point even hinted at her own.
A secret that Alice obviously knew. Because of course she did, because somehow a mentally unstable villain was more trustworthy than Mary.
The feeling blooming inside Mary’s chest is ugly and unfair, there’s a dozen other reasons for why Alice might have found out Kate’s secret, it’s also a feeling Mary’s very familiar with.
She’s been envious of Beth for almost twelve years. Not because she wanted to steal the affection Kate had always held like a torch in wait for Beth to come back, - or because she wanted to replace Beth - but because she’s always wanted to share in that affection.
Because she’s never heard Kate call Mary her sister. Not even her step-sister. Even when Kate had cause to introduce someone to her it would never be: ‘This is Mary, my stepsister.’ it was always ever and only ‘This is Mary, our parents are married.’
It had never failed to make something sharp twist inside her chest.
Enough. She needs a distraction from this pointless carousel of feeling not quite good enough, so she turns away from Kate and moves toward the discarded pieces of the suit that was left at the side of the room once they’d gotten it off Kate.
Something about the front of it catches Mary’s eye. The black armor isn’t pristine with one hole on the suit’s frontal side like she’d guess would be the case if it got hit with some kind of armor-piercing arrow - are those a thing? Because she’s heard rumors about Star City.
The suit looks damaged, bent inward and cracked in something almost like a spiderweb pattern. There’s jagged almost melted looking spots on it, especially around the lower torso. It looks as if... - her mind jumps back to what she’d heard from a few of today’s patients, about Batwoman jumping on top of the bomb.
“What exactly happened?” She asks before she can think better of attracting Alice’s attention.
“What always happens.” Alice says from close behind her. Mary forces herself not to jump out of her skin. “A lucky shot by a pathetic mouse on a bad, sad, mad day and the bat fell down. Oh well, you live, you learn, you chop a few heads tomorrow.”
Alice is a bit unsteady on her feet but not as much so as Mary might have hoped, and that intense focused stare is back on her face. The focus entirely on Mary.
Mary knows not to flinch. Besides, there’s something almost familiar about Alice’s eyes, they’re angry and wounded and lonely. She sees Kate in them, which she guesses means she’s seeing Beth in them.
She’s just not sure if that’s very good or very bad.
“What are you going to do?” Mary asks. Or starts asking because there’s the sound of a broken glass pane hitting the floor and shattering from a room above them. The building is abandoned. That’s why it’s perfect for Mary’s purposes. Somehow Mary thinks it’s too much to hope that some homeless animal has found itself wandering onto the property.
“Oh. I love a mouse trap.” Alice says as she throws back her head with a smile. Then she grabs Mary’s shoulders and pulls her closer. “Go make sure Katy-Kate is all tucked in and hiding behind the Bat, okay? I’ll be right back.”
And then she’s gone.
The first thing Mary does is pocket the thing she’s been trying to get her hands on without being observed for the past half an hour. The second thing she does is go for the costume. There’s no way Mary has enough time to dress Kate back into Batwoman but she doesn’t need to put on her the whole thing, just the mask. And that she does quickly enough.
Kate looks ridiculous and Mary mourns the fact that she doesn’t have time to take a picture - not that she could anyway, with all these hackers rising up from shadows recently, both the villainous type and the plain gross ones.
She’s finished by the time the ominous silence that’s been covering the clinic since Alice left, gets broken by something heavy and soft hitting something wooden.
She leaves the room and then knocks a closet filled with clean linens over the doorway, quickly she makes sure it’s jammed in place so that if anyone tries to move it to get inside at Kate, Mary will be able to hear it. Then she runs toward the sounds of laughter and smashing glass and breaking furniture from one of the inner rooms. Which tells Mary she probably knows where Alice and their uninvited guest is.
The room the fight is taking place in is the one where Mary had moved all of the too damaged furniture coming with the building. It wasn’t a neat place to begin with and now it looks like a hurricane has gone over it.
Alice is grinning, teeth bared and trying to remain standing by one of the walls. She’s also pale and breathing too hard, the blood she’d donated clearly finally catching up with her. There’s one of Mary’s scalpels in her hands and a smashed lamp by her feet.
The man is with his back to Mary on his knees, arm bleeding. And he’s reaching for the hunting crossbow by his feet.
Mary doesn’t so much think as react as she grabs the closest heavy object at hand - another old lamp that wouldn’t turn on - and smashes it over the guy’s head.
He drops like a particularly heavy stone.
“Are you okay?” Mary asks on reflex and lets the lamp fall out of her hands to the floor.
“You know, I think I might be starting to like you.” Alice says at her, though her smile hasn’t lost its savage look, there is however a hint of actual interest in her eyes. Mary shudders, she’s not sure if that’s actually better. Then Alice’s eyes go back to the unconscious man Mary’s guessing shot Kate, and all hint of humanity drops from her face like she’s a snake shedding the skin that doesn’t quite fit. She takes a step for the man, the scalpel in her hand twisting around with a play of fingers and Mary panics.
“No, stop!” Mary says and rushes to stand in front of Alice. “You don’t have to kill him. He didn’t see Kate. I’ll have some guys drop him off somewhere in the morning and make an anonymous tip. He’ll be arrested, he’s not a threat anymore.”
“Really now? And how will you do that, he’s gonna wake up any minute now. And we can’t have that, now can we?” Alice says, eyes still intent on her target.
Mary’s face hardens, her hand going into her pocket. Then she turns around - turns her back to Alice, a panicked voice in her head adds - and drops to her knees to inject the liquid from the syringe she’d been hiding, into the man’s bloodstream.
“He’ll wake up when I want him to wake up. And no one’s murdering anyone inside my clinic. It’s off limits.” She says and gets back to her feet.
Alice just stares at her, her lips pressed in irritation, the look on her face that of a child that’s being told there’s no sweets for dinner.
“Fine.” She snaps. “I’m not going to kill him here.”
“Good.” Mary says, dropping from her protective stance. Relieved that she doesn’t have to risk her life to protect a man that almost killed Kate. Her eyes move down to the scalpel Alice is still playing with. “Can I have that back now, please?”
“No.” Alice says and tilts her head sideways, looking at her with thoughtful eyes. “Mine now.”
She opens her mouth to argue but then closes it, all things considered a scalpel is probably the easiest of the stuff she’d used up tonight to replace and she doesn’t want to risk setting Alice off.
“Be a dear, tell my sister I won’t always be there to pull her wings out of the fire. And don’t sing to Daddy’s crows, I wouldn’t want to have to come back.” She says and makes the scalpel vanish into one of the pockets of her blue coat, before twisting dramatically on her heel and starting to walk out of the room and away from both Mary and the room Kate’s still in.
“I wouldn’t do that.” Mary yells toward Alice’s turned back and almost adds how Kate’s her sister too. What holds her back is not so much the potentially suicidal results of those words as the fact that Kate would probably disagree.
She wouldn’t say it, Mary knows that much at least, but she’d think it and that’s painful enough.
After Alice is gone Mary turns around toward the knocked out and drugged man and sighs. “Now, how the hell am I gonna move you?”
---
It takes another hour before Kate starts stirring.
In that time Mary has managed to drag the man into the room and wrapped up his bleeding shoulder - though she’s left him on the floor by one of the walls, which as far as she’s concerned serves him right... even if it had more to do with there being absolutely no way for her to lift him up onto one of the old spring-mattress beds than anything else.
She’d also taken off Kate’s mask again now that the threat of her being identified as Batwoman was over, and made herself that cup of coffee she’d decided against before she’d been so rudely interrupted from going home.
She hears Kate groan and walks over.
“Drink this.” Mary says and passes Kate a glass of water as soon as she opens her eyes and starts trying to get up. Then she puts an additional pillow under Kate’s head to help her stay upright. “You’re dehydrated.”
“Mary?” Kate asks, shaking her head as soon as she’s downed the water. “What are you- what happened?”
“That guy over there shot you with an arrow and then Alice brought you to me.” Mary says, nodding toward the man in question. “I patched you up.”
It’s then that Kate’s face flashes with fear and Mary has to look away. “You don’t have to worry, I’m not going to tell anyo-”
“Did Beth hurt you?” Kate interrupts Mary’s attempt to assure her that she wouldn’t betray Kate’s secret.
“What?”
“Beth. Alice. She didn’t try to hurt you did she?” Kate asks, real worry coloring her voice. Mary just stares at her, chest tightening with something painful but... not.
“Oh, no. I mean she kinda scared me half to death at first 'cause Red Alice and all that blood, duh, but- no, she didn’t hurt me.” Mary says and consciously stops herself from reaching up to rub at her neck, Alice hadn’t really choked her, though she knows her skin well enough to know that by tomorrow there will be visible bruising there anyway.
“Good.” Kate says, but her eyes are still running over Mary like she’s cataloging every hair out of place, just to make sure it’s true.
Mary doesn’t quite know what to do with Kate’s uncharacteristic reaction. So instead she changes the subject.
“Yeah,” she says and her eyes slide sideways to the unspoken elephant of the room. “So, don’t take this the wrong way but I really need Batwoman to not be here by the time it starts getting light outside.”
She sees Kate flinch from the corner of her eye, as she too finally notices the Batwoman costume and maybe only now puts together all the pieces to realize exactly what Mary knows now.
For a moment Kate says nothing. Then she looks like she’s weighing something and coming to a conclusion.
“It’s okay. Luke can come pick me up, honestly I’m pretty sure he’s already freaking out, I wasn’t exactly supposed to go on a patrol yesterday. The suit’s kinda of a mess right now. ” Kate says with a shrug and then visibly regrets it as she winces and clutches at her stomach. “I just hadn’t thought it was so much of a mess it would let a low speed projectile through.”
“Yes, I’m guessing that’s what happens when people jump on bombs, Kate.” Mary quips back dryly.
“Yeah,” she says, “about that.”
“We can talk about that later.” Mary says and then hands her another glass of water and two tablets of pain medication. “Drink that down. I’d give you some for later but you can afford to buy your own, and I’m already running low.”
“What about him?” Kate asks as soon as she’s followed Mary’s instructions and nods toward her would-be killer. “He’ll tell the cops where he’d tracked me to to cut a deal, or he’ll tell his friends.”
“Oh, no, it’s fine, I’ve got guys in prison.” Mary assures her.
“You’ve got guys in prison.” Kate says, a wry twist to her mouth.
“It’s not what it sound like, okay? It’s just that, well, for some of them I’m the closest thing to health insurance their families have, so I’m like... officially off limits.” Mary says and feels an embarrassed blush rising to her cheeks.
“Wow.” Kate smirks.
“What!?” Mary can’t help snapping, irritated and recalling all the times Kate made her feel smaller just by looking at her.
“My little stepsister really is the Meredith Grey of Gotham’s underground.” Kate teases her fondly, though her smile has slipped a bit and then drops completely at the sharp breath that catches in Mary’s throat. “What?”
“Nothing, you’ve just never- it’s nothing.” Mary says, swallowing back the sudden and inexplicable tears threatening to build up and drop down her cheeks. She feels like Kate has just punched her in the chest, except somehow it’s simultaneously the warmest feeling she remembers having.
---
The next time Mary sees Kate is a day later when she shows up at Mary’s apartment carrying takeout from the Mexican place around the corner.
“I thought we should talk.” Kate says when Mary opens the door.
“You should be in bed.” Mary disagrees but lets her in, honestly she was kind of expecting her to come around, especially after she read today’s front page article.
“I’m fine.” Kate says.
Mary rolls her eyes and snorts.
“I sewed up your stomach yesterday, you needed a blood transfusion. You’re really not.” She guides her to the living room to sit down on the couch. For a few minutes there’s a semi-comfortable silence as Mary sets up the dinner Kate brought over onto the table.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you I was Batwoman.” Kate says as soon as Mary has sat down beside her and started on her quesadilla.
“It’s okay.” Mary says but doesn’t quite meet Kate’s eyes, she’s not lying but it still kind of stings. “I wish you would have trusted me but I get it.”
“It wasn’t about trust, Mary.” Kate says. “I didn’t want to put you in unnecessary danger.”
“Well can you not put yourself in unnecessary danger either, please? I’d rather avoid as many future visits from Alice as possible.” She says and unconsciously starts playing with the colorful silk scarf around her neck.
“So I take it you saw the article.” Kate sighs.
Mary’s eyes flicker toward the newspaper with a grimace.
“You mean the one about how Red Alice broke into police holding and killed a suspect found through an anonymous tip before he could be questioned? Yeah.” She says, a stupid guilty feeling bubbling inside her chest cavity. “She said she wasn’t going to kill him at my clinic, I should have guessed she meant that literally.”
“It’s not your fault, Mary.”
“Right.”
“It’s not, you shouldn’t-” Kate says and then freezes, eyes zeroing in on Mary’s hand, the one running nervously over the scarf covering her neck. “What’s that?”
“It’s nothing, don’t worry about it.” Mary tries but isn’t all that surprised to receive back a glare, so she sighs and removes the scarf hiding the bruises in the shape of a hand-print.
“I though you said Beth didn’t hurt you.” Kate whispers, voice upset.
“She didn’t... much. I was gonna scream so she-”
“That’s not an excuse, Mary.”
“I know. It’s just that all things considered this time went a lot better than last time, There were no axes for one.” She tries joking to lighten the mood, it doesn’t seem to work. “And she said she might actually be starting to like me now.”
If anything, Kate looks even more worried at that.
“Yeah, that was pretty much my reaction too.” Mary nods, it had felt like Alice had forgotten about her in the past two months and now she has a bad feeling that’s no longer going to be the case.
Feeling like she needs to move on to a lighter subject she winds the silk back around her neck and grins a bit forcefully at Kate.
“So, you’re Batwoman then, how did that happen?”
---
After that, their dinner is pretty uneventful. Kate fills her in on that whole vigilante business, though Mary’s pretty sure she’s still keeping something back. She doesn’t fail to notice how in Kate’s retelling of finding Batman’s secret lair she never actually mentions any specifics.
But they do talk and it’s not that different than it’s been since Kate had come back to Gotham and they’d started actually hanging out sometimes, like how actual sisters might. They jump through topics, covering criminals Batwoman has taken down and patients Mary has patched up, the local barista Kate has been flirting with and the fellow med-student who's been hitting on Mary. She mentions the message Alice had wanted to convey to Kate and then they move back on to some lighter subjects when Kate's mood plummets.
Eventually it’s getting late and Kate starts getting ready to go home... well, hopefully home. Or at least not out to patrol the city. Kate’s definitely not healthy enough for that yet and Mary doesn’t see how the Bat costume could have possibly gotten fixed this fast.
But before Kate can leave, Mary impulsively jumps forward to hug her. Squeezing her older stepsister for all it’s worth - though she’s careful not to put pressure near her abdomen. “I’m glad you didn’t die.”
“Mary?” Kate says but doesn’t try to pull back, which means Mary doesn’t feel like she has to either. It's not the first hug Mary's ever shared with Kate but it's the first one where Kate hasn't initially frozen, which puts this as the best hug she's ever gotten from Kate.
“Yeah?”
“I know I’ve never said this, and that I should have but I’m gonna say it now. I’m glad our parents married each other. I’m glad that we’re family.” Kate says and squeezes Mary back.
“Well, duh.” Mary says and covertly tries to wipe away the tears before Kate can get the chance to see them. “I’m awesome.”

Malfoy Manor (Draco Malfoy x Reader)
Summary: (Y/N) is travelling with Harry, Ron, and Hermione when they’re captured and taken to Malfoy Manor. She hasn’t seen her lover, Draco Malfoy, since before they left Hogwarts, and she isn’t sure whether the Death Eaters have gotten to him completely yet.
Comment if you want a Part 2!
writing this made me realize that I can only write scenes with Draco in them oof
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Come out of there with your hands up!” a voice rasped from outside the tent. “We know you’re in there! You’ve got half a dozen wands pointing at you and we don’t care who we curse!”
 (Y/N) had given up trying to fight the large wizard restraining her some time ago, and let herself be dragged and tossed carelessly like a rag doll in the Snatcher’s rough grip. Their tent was searched, wands seized, but thanks to Hermione’s rapid thinking, Harry’s face was swollen almost unrecognizably.
Her heart stopped when the Snatchers found the newspaper in their tent and examined the stretched scar on his forehead. Her mind was fogged over with fear and hopelessness, but a sentence uttered by one of the Snatchers broke through the haze: they were to be taken to Malfoy Manor.
She clenched her teeth and thanked the stars for this rare stroke of luck. If by some miracle Draco was alive and in his home, their chances of surviving and escaping increased infinitely. Once they escaped, they could go back to Horcrux hunting, and hopefully, find a way for Harry to do what he was meant to do.
She could hear the struggled sounds of her friends behind her thoughts and a flare of concern went up as Hermione tried to defend Ron from the advancements of Greyback. This didn’t allow her to tamp down the small, selfish part of her deep down was desperate to see her lover after all these months.
Their abrupt stop wrenched her from her thoughts. After the claustrophobic sensation of side-along Disapparition, the group stood at the gates of a large, dark, stately manor.
(Y/N) could feel the bridge of her nose tingling with unshed tears as she stared up at the spires. She’d been through a lot with her friends, but the realization that this would be her first time at her boyfriend’s house and her first time meeting his parents broke a different part of her heart. Here she was, bound with a wand pressed to her back daring her to make a wrong movement; while Draco was not beside her but on the wrong side, the side vouching for the death of her best friend.
She scolded herself for the superficial lamentation and thought about the torture that could result from this visit. Taking a deep breath, she glanced at her friends and prepared herself for the worst.
The gate swung open at Greyback’s declaration of having caught the Boy Who Lived and she winced as the Snatcher’s grip became almost painful walking up the path. Ghostly white shapes floated around the meticulously trimmed topiary on either side of them, but (Y/N) didn’t dare lift her head to use anything but her peripheral vision.
“Peacocks,” one of the men snorted. “Ridiculous.”
The front door opened and the Snatchers dragged the friends over the threshold. The familiar woman who opened the door moved closer to examine the four.
“We think we’ve caught Potter!” Greyback exclaimed triumphantly, eyes sparkling with malice.
(Y/N) stared at the mother of the boy she loved. Narcissa Malfoy had features that hinted at former beauty: once luminous pale blond hair gone dull, porcelain skin that now seemed to stretch over the sharp lines of her face like the life had been sucked out.
She could see Draco in the way her lips were pursed, and the way she carried herself. Whenever Draco used to speak of his mother, he took on a certain gentleness that indicated the love between them. Narcissa now looked like a woman who feared for the lives of her husband and son daily, a woman full of fear and regret. (Y/N)’s heart suddenly ached for her and her family, caught in the middle of a treacherous spider’s web. Mudbloods weren’t the only victims of this war.
“Follow me,” said Narcissa, leading the way into what (Y/N) assumed was a drawing room. “My son, Draco, is home for the Easter holidays. If that is Harry Potter, he will know.”
(Y/N)’s heart seemed to beat out of her chest at the mere mention of Draco’s name, and she involuntarily lurched against the hold of her captor. He, in turn, dug filthy nails into the skin of her upper arm.
The room they were led into was like Mrs. Malfoy: filled with beauty that had seen better days. A large, ornate crystal chandelier hung overhead, overwrought with cobwebs but still glimmering with reflections of light.
The cold, familiar voice of Lucius Malfoy brought (Y/N) out of her trance and she shuddered at just how many qualities he’d passed to his son. She could see Draco in him as well, but colder. Darker. Less humanity in his icy eyes.
Draco walked into the room and her heart stopped beating altogether. The world ceased to spin when she raised her gaze to meet his. She searched for a sign, gesture, any tiny thing to assure her that things would be okay. It had to come. He had kissed her and told her so when they parted.
It never came.
His gaze was cold and dead, as if he’d been beaten down one too many times. There was no compassion in his eyes as he stared his former lover down.
(Y/N) vaguely thought about whether the pain in her chest was comparable to death by the Killing Curse. She lowered her gaze and let her eyes flutter shut, the last remaining drop of resilience she had in her evaporated.
Draco stared at (Y/N), working to keep his composure in front of his family of Death Eaters.
He drank in her lank and dishevelled hair, spilt and bleeding lips, tear stained cheeks. Her face and body were mottled with lavender and blue bruises, and her eyes had lost their past sparkle, but still,  all he saw was the girl he‘d been in love with for years.
Draco swore to himself that he’d get her out of this hell, no matter what it took. Steeling himself, he tore his eyes from her and focused on the murderous gaze coming from Potter’s swollen face.
 “Well, Draco?” his father asked eagerly. “Is it Harry Potter?”
 Potter’s face was blown up to twice it’s usual size, and his jaw was covered in a dark shadow. He panicked for a moment, not sure how he could go about this for the desired outcome. He pretended to observe the face, even lifting up a chunk of hair to examine the stretched but familiar lightning bolt on his forehead.
 “I… I can’t be sure.” Draco said, staring into his school rival’s green eyes. “What’s happened to his face?”
 “Looks like a Stinging Jinx,” replied Lucius impatiently. “Well? We must be 100% sure it’s him before summoning the Dark Lord. Remember what happened to Dolhov?”
 Suddenly, Greyback turned his attention to the other three teens held captive. They got excited, realizing that they were friends of Harry’s, said to be travelling with him in the paper.
 Bellatrix Lestrange bounded into the room. Her chest heaved with anticipation and she pulled up her sleeve to call the Dark Lord when her eyes fixed on a ruby-hilted sword a Snatcher was holding. She flew into a terrified fury, stunning Snatchers and shrieking for answers.
“Take the prisoners to the cellar, Greyback. Wait… except for the Mudblood,” she drawled, grabbing Hermione’s chin roughly. “We’re going to have a bit of a chat, girl to girl.”
“No- NO! TAKE ME INSTEAD!” cried Ron, trying to fight his way out of the werewolf’s grip unsuccessfully. He dragged them down a steep flight of stairs and opened a grated door with a tap of his wand.
The three struggled against the bindings after being thrown into a cellar. (Y/N) could feel Ron shaking and the panic rose inside her at Bellatrix yelling at Hermione upstairs.
“Harry? Ron? (Y/N)?” came a familiar voice from the semidarkness.
“Luna?” Harry called in disbelief as the girl stepped out of the shadows. Her arms were smeared with dust, her blond curls were limp, but she was overall unharmed.
“Yes, it’s me”
“Luna, can you help us get these ropes off?” (Y/N) asked, blinking as her eyes tried to adjust to the darkness.
Luna, with the help of Ollivander, Dean, and Griphook, also prisoners, found a rusty nail and managed to cut the ropes off with the help of Ron’s deluminator.
Sliding down against the dungeon wall besides Luna, (Y/N) hugged her knees to her chest and finally let the tears roll down her cheeks. Quite sobs tore out of her chest and she flinched and gulped at her best friend’s shrill scream of pain as it echoed around the room. Ron, wild-eyed, yelled Hermione’s name, scrabbled against the cold stone wall, but to no avail. They were trapped.
Everyone’s head snapped towards the door as they heard keys jingling. All the breath rushed out of her as Draco’s platinum hair became visible in the torchlight.
Ron and Harry raised their wands, pointing them directly at Draco’s chest. (Y/N) followed suit, though her wand hand was shaking rather badly. Draco was unfazed.
“Did you really think I’d choose them over you?” he murmured, walking directly over to her and gently pushing her raised arm to her side.
(Y/N) bit her lip, hardly daring to hope.
He closed the distance between them with a step, clutching her to him with one hand around her waist and the other buried in her hair.
The kiss was desperate and untamed, making her toes curl inside her worn sneakers as they poured their souls into each other. More tears rolled down (Y/N)’s cheeks as Draco’s mouth moved against hers, trying to convey apologies and make up for lost time.
As much as she wanted to forget the world outside Draco’s familiar embrace, Hermione’s broken screams still cut through the kiss-induced fog in (Y/N)’s brain. She pulled away reluctantly, keeping herself pressed to him.
Draco seemed to read her thoughts as they all winced at another weak cry from upstairs. Fierce determination flooded his features.
“I swear, (Y/N),” he whispered. “I’ll get you out of here.”
He paused and glanced around at Harry, Ron, Luna, and Ollivander.
“All of you.”
