Personals Headcanons for the Shinigami in Kuroshitsuji

A post for @docmartensanddietcoke and for the Kuro fandom Team shinigami.

Headcanons Society Dispatch shinigami

>>A shinigami don’t immediately work. When a soul become a shinigami, she is sent in a “Accompanying House”. It’s an isolated, big propriety where “babies” shinigami live their first days. The shinigami learn them to read and write sometime, help them with the “futuristic” objects who are out of time, and alson help the shinigami to accept their punishment and don’t commit a second suicid. Sometime, the shinigami think that this place is the paradise and don’t want leave him, it’s the paradoxe of this place. 

>> The medecine department exist for the shinigami who get hurt after a mission. But, he's mainly knew for his psychatric wing, her asylum for unstable shinigami, her office drugs  controle and suicid cell.

>> a shinigami who can’t to work is send in the 4th basement. It’s a place where he does useless things for that he continues to work.

Headcanons shinigami

>> Grell Sutcliff For to don’t become a shinigami, Grell had the idea to do to believe that he was much too mad and unstable for to become a shinigami, even if it was to stay closed during an eternity. It's a tutor stronger and intimidating that Grell who have successes to change the shinigami for to will become more “cooperative” with his job Grell loves the dogs (it’s why he loves Sebastian) but prefer the Siberian Husky because they are fluffs and sweet. After to read a fanfiction on the subject, i think that Grell take cocaine and opium. Grell didn’t wanted to train Ronald, but after, it was fun to him to create a Playboy. Grell suicided with a shaver.

>> William T. Spears He takes drugs for to work more but nobody knows this (except Grell who keep the secret) William is unstable for the shinigami officers. He failed her last psychotic test. He doesn’t know that her place of leader of department will take end soon and that he will be replaced by another shinigami. William did much erotic dream and had some phantasms during her job, but prefer to keep this in his spirit and far away of Grell. William doesn’t like Grell, but if Grell would disappear, he would lose her mental balance in some seconds. William loves the cats, as Sebastian.

>> Ronald Knox In his human life, Ronald was the son of a baron. Her father dead, he lived with her mother. Ronald was a rich who live with recklessness. So, a day, he frequented bad persons, and he accidentally killed her mother. Because he had killed the first woman who a man should respect, he considered that he don't deserved to live and put the gun in his mouth. Ronald didn’t like her punishment and preferred the Hell. He was unstable and the shinigami officers wanted to close him in the basement. Well, a tutor learned him to live her situation and Ronald success his exams before that Grell train him then. Ronald is a « Black Dog », a nickname for the shinigami « who obey to another master that the Superiors » He don’t know that his watch hide a secret Ronald is afraid by Othello since a medical joke when he was young.

>> Othello He looks porn « for the science » He did a medical joke, with a syringe, because Ronald break something in her laboratory. He created drugs during a moment for to grow her salary. He stole a book on the futures electronics invention, notably with the big chapter on the video games He loves the science since his old life, because he could no longer to walk outside after accident where he lost her legs.

>> Rudgar The train killed him. He broke her scythe during his first work day and nobody knows how he could to do. He was an excellent hunter in her old life. He’s a « Black Dog » like Ronald. His hair never saw a hairbrush.

>> Sascha He was considered as mad because of an unknown mental sickness, so, he lived in an asylum during a mainly part a life. He's hanged in her cell. Sascha is a hermaphrodite and the 6th case of shinigami hermaphroditism. He tokes drugs for to work more longer. The situation finished in a psychiatric cell with four months of recuperation.

>> Éric Slingby He suicided after the defeat and the dead of his Scotland clan. He’s not dead (because the fanfiction exist) and he works with the young recruits but don’t know if Alan is alive too. He shared in the same bedroom of William when they were young recruits. >> Alan Humphries He’s not dead (see the precedent note) and work for the personnel department, a closed department who only communicate by pigeons or letters. He has scars of thorn of death and don’t know the situation of Éric.

>> Lawrence Anderson He’s one of first shinigami and works on the glasses since the beginning of the Dispatch.

>> Others shinigami I called Ignatus, Michael and Jonathan these three shinigami

O.C  >> Jack Sutcliff It’s the twin of Grell, birth five minutes after him. (OKAY ! It’s my reaction to twin Ciels !!) He has been separate of Grell in his birth and suicided one month after him. He works in the German Dispatch for that there are not « Two Grell in the same place » and is the tutor of Rudgar. He loves to seduce the women and the opera. His hair is red and long but attached. His teeth are same as brother but her fang are more long. Her overcoat are long and black but red inside. Grell named « Jack the Ripper » in reference for this brother and sent him a photo of Madame Red. Jack is fell of love of her but was completly broken when Grell tell him that he killed her. Since this day, Jack don’t speak to Grell. He has deserted some weeks later (with her scythe and her glasses). Grell don’t know where he hides him and if he’s always in life.

>> Baskerville : He’s a black dog of emotionnal support. Grell had him a little before the War I. He’s a crossbreed between two races of sled dogs.

>> Crimson : A black cat of emotionnal support of William. He hates the demon as his master and he’s cold as him, but loves to sleep on her works papers.

O.C.C >> Ada Because since her creation in the manga, I imagine her to become a shinigami a day. Ronald is the only person that she remembers. So, Ronald will be his instructor. If her first objectify was to take Ada in his bed, she became like a sister for him as he became a brother for her.

>> Lawrence Bluer The events of Blue Arc finished by to break him. He considered himself like a shame and a danger for his sisters, and like a monster. He’s become a shinigami in the end of XIXe and became the better student of William, then her subordinate.

Rudgar has always had a strained relationship with his father. His father having been absent from his childhood ,due to work, for as long as he can remember.

Leaving home early in the mornings to arriving home late at night.

At the times his father was home, he was always to exhausted to even change out of his work clothes. Simply plopping himself on a nearby chair.

Due to his absent, his mother was the one to mostly raise him on her own.

Over the years, ludgar has become bitter about his father.

I headcanon and write Sascha to be a girl. I am aware that most people see her/him as a boy after the fan Translator translated the gender neutral pronoun as a male pronoun. (The actual pronoun is used by boys and tomboys/free spirited girls so Sascha's gender is still undetermined.) Please do not try to "correct" me on Sascha's gender.

Work Text:

She leaned in closer to the mirror, blinking at her reflection from behind her large white framed glasses. She hardly recognized herself. Her lips painted a soft pink, green-gold eyes lined with black and shadowed with a touch of color to make them pop, her cheeks tinted ever so slightly with blush. Makeup wasn't a normal thing for her, and it almost felt uncomfortably heavy on her skin.

Her dark brown hair was too short to do much to, so she had left it as is aside from the rhinestone studded hair clip she thought would be a nice touch.

She sighed and stepped back to look at the rest of her reflection. Her small shoulders were bare; a thing she wasn't sure how comfortable she was with so much skin showing. Normally she liked hiding her body under layers of oversized shirts and cardigans. But tonight was special.

With another sigh she took hold of her blue skirts and tugged at them, turning around to see herself in the mirror at new angles. Her feet supported Mary-Jane shoes paired with tights.

"No matter how I look at myself, I look like a girl!" she huffed before remembering she was one.

"Oh, right…" She laughed at herself, "I guess I have been working too much lately. He was right; I do need to get out of the Library more."

A knock at her door caught her attention, "Sascha? Are you ready to go? We don't want to be late." A male voice inquired.

Sascha spun around, enjoying the way her skirts flared out around her legs as she did so, and rushed over to yank open the door.

Her partner Ludger stood on the other side dressed in a sharp tux, his ascot and vest a blue matching her dress. She laughed in delight, "You remind me of a penguin that got too cold!"

Ludger's cheeks turned red, "Impossible, they live in the frigid artic year round and never turn blue." He adjusted his glasses and tried to hide how he took in her own dolled up look, his usually annoyed expression softening.

"You look very beautiful this evening."

"Do I?" Sascha looked down at herself, "I like the skirt, it's fun when I spin around. But the makeup will not be touching my face again. It's way too much work to be this uncomfortable!"

"It's only for a few hours, and then you can take a nice shower and scrub it all off again." He reassured her as he offered her his arm, "Shall we?"

"I'm…still not sure I want to go." She admitted in a small voice.

Ludger frowned, "You aren't going to stand me up are you?"

"No! I just…would rather do something else…with you…"

With a sigh, he pulled her into a gentle hug, "I know it's not what you are used to, and there will be a lot of people you don't know there, but I'll be with you the whole time. Besides, I promised you we could dance. I'll take you on a more comfortable date next weekend. Just the two of us, a war movie, and some of your favorite snacks. How does that sound?"

"Yes! In our pajamas, too!"

Ludger laughed, "In our pajamas, too." He agreed as she finally took his arm.

Sascha sighed, sitting at the table, fiddling with the edge of the tablecloth, "Why is our office parties so formal? I prefer what they have over in England…"

"Oh?" Ludger raised an eyebrow at her as he set down his glass of Champagne, "You would prefer it if we all acted undignified, dancing atop tables like animals?"

"Yes! At least there is action! What do we have? Fancy food that hardly fills your belly, and candles…"

"We also have music." He stood up and held his hand out to her, "We could dance."

"On our table?" she asked, hopeful.

"Of course not! That's dangerous. Besides, we have a dance floor."

Ludger pulled Sascha to her feet and lead her out onto the dance floor, which already had couples swaying to the soft classical music the quartet filled the hall with.

Sascha turned and grinned, placing her hand on her partner's hip and took his hand with her other one.

"You are supposed to place your hand on my shoulder…"

She shook her head, "Trust me, you don't want me to follow. I don't do it so well and always step on people's toes. Screw what is 'proper' and let me lead."

The taller reaper chuckled and gave a small nod, allowing the dance to go her way. At least she'd be enjoying herself more. He placed his hand on her shoulder and allowed her to lead him around the dance floor with surprising grace, even as the song came to an end and she dipped him. In his shock, he only saw a glimpse of her smiling face before her lips were upon his; soft and like silk upon his.

She tasted like strawberries…

"Thank you for making this evening more enjoyable, Ludger." She whispered into his ear before she let him stand back up.

Ludger cleared his throat, his cheeks pink, "Well then, shall we share a few more dances before we slip out?" he asked, positioning himself for the next dance.

The text for most cards are split up in three, 4 or five sections under various headings; the last section constantly dealing with the elements of interpretation in different areas of life: career, love, magic and spirituality. Akron himself mentions that he doesn't feel comfortable with composing interpretations, so he entrusted these to a member of the group, described as Michelle only.

In particular, Akron's intention was that many of the cards always should consist of comments seen from a female viewpoint. A variety of card spreads, "Legesysteme" as they are employed German, follow after the descriptions of the cards; three of them designed with unique emphasis on the Goddess-aspect.

The chapter provides an insight into the publication activities and such happening challenges, which otherwise do not become known to the readers, considered company tricks as they are by many publishers. Besides Akron himself and the artist S.O.H, the numerous members of Akron's group, Arjun, Michelle, Lussia Rudgar and merl, Ynn, are provided.

Giger's Tarot – feuilleton

It is a significant text along with a pack of well considered cards. It has been Akron's wish that the price for this prominent package was kept to an affordable level (which it is) and at the very same time be of longer standing than a lot of other decks, that survive for just one season.

am i the only one who feels that the reapers lost or don’t have any “humanity”??? like, with sebastian it’s different cause he’s a demon. he isn’t really supposed to have any but with the reapers, they used to be human. they killed them selves when they where human. and they “work” with them since they have to watch them die.

I doubt you are the only one, but I can only agree with you to an extent. I think it varies somewhat from reaper to reaper.

Grelle probably acts the least human, with those shark teeth, the change to a chainsaw for a death scythe (that’s one of William’s charges against Grelle — a new, unauthorized death scythe modification), the blood lust that led to extra human deaths, the ability to compare Campania’s maiden voyage to a rough “first time”. However, even the blood lust and the overly sexual jokes about death and destruction are not outside the range of human desires, emotions, and actions. They are all just rather negative. Grelle, particularly early on in the series, acts like a human with a personality disorder — a sociopath, perhaps even a psychopath. By the time you get to ch149, though, Grelle seems to show signs of self reflection and something outside of selfishness. Hard to tell what’s going on; it’s like Yana-san hasn’t settled on Grelle’s personality. Maybe neither has Grelle. Which really makes me wonder what punishments are actually like for reapers who break the codes of their realm and office. Somehow, I don’t think suspension from work is quite as simple and... uneventful... as not being on duty for a while.... (Tampering with their cinematic records might part of it??)

William tries to be as non-human as he can, making him seem almost mechanical. But I don’t think he is that way inside. I see him as having plenty of human feelings but trying his best to hide them — even deny them — because he thinks such things can only be a distraction at work. His reminders to Ronald to remain objective might be for his own “benefit”. What benefit there is. Being so objective with his decisions, he is unlikely to see any human as worthy of saving. And that could hinder his own salvation... if that’s even a real incentive. The promise of salvation could be a lie. I’m hoping his objectivity breaks, at some point.

Sascha clearly enjoys being a reaper, but they seem very new to the job, and we haven’t even seen their death scythe. Just a camera (that Yana-san implies isn’t a death scythe, though it could be one in disguise, like Undertaker’s main sotoba), the death list, and a dossier. After decades, let alone centuries, of this... day in and day out... Sascha should start to feel worn down by it all. Even now, Sascha understands why some reapers might desert their posts. Most of those reasons seem pretty “human” in nature, don’t they?

I don’t have much to say about Ludger/Rudgar, except that he isn’t into being a reaper nearly as much as Sascha, and he takes a rather practical approach to his work. He’s like William but less detached in his attitude. He is openly more human. Less interested in the work than Sascha, less excited about the prospects of humanity’s destructive behaviors, humans making history and technological advancements, and more work for reapers to do.

Othello strikes me as a wild card who flips back and forth between bored slacker and obsessed nut-job. He clearly likes what he does... which isn’t collecting souls. Even though Undertaker is being labeled as the mad scientist of the bunch, this label should definitely apply to Othello, too. What might have started out as curiosity for Undertaker has taken a dramatically personal and emotional turn, but Othello is the sort (I think) who will truly cut you open and poke around for the pure joy of it.

Yana-san officially did not create Eric or Alan’s personalities or write their storyline; she only created their visual designs. Therefore, she can only lay claim to their images. However, giving them a cameo in ch105 suggests she’s accepted the core of their story into manga canon. They are the only examples of deserters we have, besides Undertaker, and if anything from The Most Beautiful Death in the World is to be taken at face value, it’s that their personal reasons for deserting their posts are very human emotions of fear, pain, love, and a sense of loss.

The least “human” aspect of Ronald might be his gruesome and demeaning choice of a lawnmower for his death scythe. He’s the one William warns to be vigilant about objectivity, and, during the circus and Campania arcs, Ronald shows no problem doing that. Overtime and extra paperwork suck, after all. However, the latest chapter, as of this post (ch174), suggests he might be considering Ada for the first “shinigami pass” of the series. Too early to tell, but that could be where his latest activity at Athena Sanatorium is headed. If so, then he’s quite human in his behavior, after all.

I have nothing much to say about Lawrence “Pops” Anderson, since we haven’t seen him in the manga. Seems to me he is in the canon, and that’s about it. He makes the custom glasses for reapers. He’s been around as a reaper for a long time. I have a crack theory regarding those glasses, but I’ll let someone ask me for it in a 🤡 ask....

Undertaker is actually quite human in his emotional range, imho. Sure, he’s got that mad scientist vibe going, but he’s a naturally curious sort, laughs deeply, loves deeply, misses his loved ones deeply, and he’s willing to go to great lengths to hold onto what’s left. He’s what someone like William or Ronald could become... if they let themselves feel about humans. Let’s not forget Undertaker must have discovered something about the reaper organization that the other reapers we’ve been introduced to probably don’t (yet) have a clue about. It has changed him from the “epitome” of a reaper he used to be (136649) into someone willing to destroy the entire reaper organization.

Um, anyway.... My thoughts on the “humanity” of the reapers. 😬 ☺️
