There's Only One You 2024: a sports rpf short fanworks prompt meme is live!
262 fanworks in 12 different sports rpf fandoms. Check out the works and the fandoms and grab a cup of coffee 'cause it's just banger after banger across fandoms!
Thank you everyone for your hard work in making this another wonderful year! It is a joy to do this with you again. Your enthusiasm and joie de vivre make all the logistical stuff worthwhile.
Creators - make sure you update the posting date on your works to today so it appears at the top of the tag, especially if you posted weeks ago! Your names will be revealed on Monday, April 8 between 9am-10am pt (unless your work is also in anonymous collection.)
Everyone - if you enjoyed a work, slam that kudos button and leave a comment! Short works do not get nearly enough attention in fandom and these creators worked hard - let them know what you loved about their work! And I'll emphasize that doubly for the podficcers, artists, and fanmixers here, because those are also creators that don't see a lot of praise even beyond short fics. tl;dr: kudos + comment if you liked it!
Thank you all!! Settle in for a good weekend because we've got a lot to enjoy here 🌞

https://torontosun.com/news/local-news/warmington-female-rugby-players-complain-trans-opponent-hits-too-hard
Female rugby players are not used to feeling like they have been hit by a bus on the field. Or a truck.
A veteran female rugby player, who plays for the Stoney Creek Camels senior women’s team, said she was hit so hard in a recent game, it felt like a man delivering the tackle.
Tumblr media
This transgender player, known as Ash — said to have registered as a non-binary person who identifies as female — stands about 5-foot-10 and weighs up to 220 pounds.
“We are women,” said a female player on the receiving end of a tackle. “It’s a whole other thing playing rugby against men.”
Or one who used to be — especially one of that size, who is also said to have been an MVP at the men’s level just last season.
“I had never been hit like that before, even at the competitive women’s level,” said the player. “There was so much more brute force. There are women who are bigger than him, but no girl hits like that. This is a strong human.”
“The player is a nice person, but that is not the point,” said the female player. “We are now at a disadvantage.”
This story has sparked a lot of discussion within the rugby community – many comparing it to the Leah Thomas swimming issue in the United States. But as one female player pointed out, competitive swimmers have their own lane and there are no collisions. In rugby, it’s all collisions, all the time. She said Ash’s legs are massive and strong, and “you feel the hits from (them) the next day.”
Diana Murphy a friend of some of the players, tweeted: “Three women’s rugby players had to be removed from a game and treated for injuries from hits sustained by a transwoman” and that she feels “Trans have no place in women’s sports.” Rugby Canada said there were no illlegal hits, but sources in the game said Ash received a yellow card from the referee for a hit to the head of one female player. Ash was pulled from the game. Players said they are not clear whether it was at the insistence of the referee or the Fergus coach. Either way, Rugby Canada said this is a federal inclusion issue and not only is this transgender player welcomed in the league, but the law protects that person from discrimination.
Tumblr media
“We are aware of the matter in question but would advise that Rugby Canada has received no formal complaints,” said Managing Director Tania Richards. “All rugby played in Canada abides by federal government laws which regulates inclusion in sports."
She said there were no players hurt and there were no illegal hits as has been suggested on social media. What there has been, said Richards, is online harassment of the transgender player. The Fergus club has not yet responded, but has forwarded our request to speak with Ash. Meanwhile, there are some players who feel they should not have to play against someone who was recently considered male, but are afraid to reveal their identities for fear of being targeted or cancelled themselves.
All sides use the word “complicated” when talking about this matter. Rugby Ontario sent a communique to members, saying “for those who attended Sunday’s board meeting, you are aware of some concerns that have arisen about player safety in the context of a transplayer playing in club games” and “we are working closely with Rugby Canada senior staff on the matter and are together developing action and communication plans, informed by the counsel of their third-party crisis management PR agency.” They also asked, “if you are contacted by anyone in the community or the media, please do not engage by offering any opinion or comment on the situation.” What they don’t seem to be doing is fully accepting there are some female players who don’t feel comfortable going up against a transitioning opponent in a physical sport where size and strength play a role. One player said the collision she had with trans player Ash was unlike any other impact she has felt in all her years playing rugby.

JUST ONE GAME
Heartstopper sister series. Part 3
Again a special thanks to @people594 your amazing and I really appreciate all your comment. For some reason I can't reply to them só ill do them on here instead. Love you x
"Nick!" The older boy looked up from his phone and sat up more in his bed. "Nick!" Eloise replied again. Panic stired inside of him until that abrubtly stopped when the younger girl burst in his room with a huge smile on her face. Nick relaxed. "What is it?" Eloise let out a chorus of exited giggles. Nick couldn't help but join it. "Ella, just tell me what's gotten you so giggly" Eloise straightened up and cleared her throat. "Nick.." He raised his eyebrows as to say to go on. "Can you teach me how to play rugby" She said really quickly.
Nick had never been so happy to be asked something before. He just leaped of his bed and wrapped his arms around her. "Nick" eloise groaned. "I thought you'd never ask" He spun her around.
"First rule of playing rugby..." Nick started as the two siblings walked across the park. "Is that you are always fully aware of your surroundings" Eloise nodded eagerly, ready to learn. Nick smiled at her in return. He couldn't have been more happier that his super wanted to play, taking after his footsteps. But one thing did keep clawing at him. Why all of a sudden does she want to play rugby?
"Right, let's start with-" but before nick finished, hewas cut off by eloise being tackled to the ground. "Charlie!" Eloise Shouted after grabbing nicks offering hand infront of her and pulled her up. "What are you doing here?" "Well nick and I thought that i could come and help. He texted me." Nick smiled at charlie and charlie mirrord. "okay love birds, lets go"
They played for hours, tossing the ball, tackling, running.
"Tackle him Ella! Tackle! Tackle! Ha! Charlie your out!!!" Nick cheered. "She cheated!" The curly haired boy protested. "I did not!" The girls mouth shot open in disagreement. Without thinking she charged at him and they both fell to the ground. Nick jogged over to them and cheered. "Good job Lou! Your a pro."
The three sat down on the grass together. Lou occasionally picking up daises and making a daisy chain. Nick watched her and how she was so gentle so she wouldn't break the grass in the process. How could such a gentle girl want to play a rough sport. He almost regretted his decision about letting her play incase she got hurt. Eloise was somewhat fragile anyway. Fragile physiche and mind.
The question that was previously on his mind popped up again. He decided he should put his mind at bay.
"Lou?" She turned to look at him. "Why do you want to play rugby all of a sudden?" She looked at him blankly. "I-I mean it doesn't really look like your kind of thing. Well it isn't your kind of thing. I mean it's great you want to and your good at it. But you've never been interested in it before?" Charlie also turned to look at her. "I think it looks fun, I wanted a change" she replied. Nick took a deep breathe. "But that's not it though, is it?" He said rather sternly, but not to harsh. The small brunette girl and the taller curly haired boy looked at Nick in a stunned way. "I know you ella, more than you think I do. And I know that "because its fun" isn't the real reason. Talk to me. I'm here so talk to me"
Eloise took a shaky breathe. "I'm scared nick. I-Ive heard stories-" Nick cut her off. "What kind of stories lou?" Nick was worried, very worried and he was going to get to the bottom of it. "About boys- saying- doing things they shouldn't" Nick and Charlie listened to every word. "You know none of that will never ever happen to you. I won't let it" Nick moved closer towards her. "You don't know that" Nick was in shock. Almost in pain that his sister has to live in endless fear of that something might happen and he can't change that. And that made him feel useless and he wasn't doing enough has a big brother. "You don't know that. Anything could happen. It may not have happend yet, I m just scared. I-I don't know, I guess I just wanted to be prepared, it's stupid and I'm sorry." Eloise looked down, blinking away a few tears. A chorus on "no no no's" filled her ears. "It's not stupid, don't say that. None of us will let anything happen you, we swear on our lives." Eloise felt someone hold her hand. Charlie. He smiled at her and smiled gratefully in return. "Thankyou guys" The two older boys wrapped her in a hug and sat in silence for a while until it was time to go home.
That night before nick went to bed, he peeked through his sisters bedroom door to see her fast asleep in her purple coded themed room. He crept in and fixed the covers a bit more so she wouldn't get cold. She looked peacefully and fear-free. And he swore an oath that night to keep her that way.
Sorry its short! Thankyou for reading and thanks for the support! If anyone has any requests then please comment. If you are unable too heres me insta @ incase that's the only way to contact me (Alliebowerman). Just drop me a message!

I think I speak for a great many of us, both those who are interested in rugby itself and those who are not but who support the Hurricanes Poua's right to freedom of expression, when I say oh fuck off, Winston Peters
