the rugrats reboot really missed a golden opportunity.
so the og series began in 1991. which means that those babies would be in their early 30s now.
which is the most common time to be new parents.
the reboot should have been the original babies as adults who remained friends and now have children of their own. with the original parents as the grandparents now.
the original series was very much rooted in 90s trends, particularly parenting fads and childhood norms like care bears and sugary cereals.
the new show could be about modern parenting stuff. like the obsession with kale and the debate on screen time.
all while this new generation of kiddos have adventures.
also. the og series broke grounds by having chuckie be raised by a widowed single dad, and later part of an interracial blended family.
the new show could break ground by having underrepresented queer families.
Maybe a trans dad who birthed his kids.
Or a polyamormous family.
Or an aro ace parent who fostered and then adopted their kids.
The possibilities are endless.
(Also Angelica 100% grew up to be a tik tok mom.)

I possess the forbidden power of finding the degrees of separation between various cartoon characters and Deep Purple founder Ritchie Blackmore.
Don't believe me??
Tumblr media
Tommy Pickles. Marge Simpson. Nigel Thornberry. Ronald McDonald. Barry B. Benson. SpongeBob SquarePants. Luigi Mario. Megamind. Shrek. Fa Mulan.
How many phone calls would Ritchie have to make (even beyond the grave) to get ahold of any of these legends?
Tommy Pickles - Blackmore number of 4
Ritchie Blackmore recruited into Rainbow and was really really really mean to the American musician Tony Carey who now plays in supergroup Mandoki Soulmates with Leslie Mándoki who fled Hungary and penetrated the Iron Curtain in the 1970s with Gábor Csupó who created Rugrats (1991) starring the character Tommy Pickles *This same chart can end with Marge Simpson, Nigel Thornberry, and Ronald McDonald, all of whom were created or animated by Csupó at some point
Barry B. Benson - Blackmore number of 4
Ritchie Blackmore was in Deep Purple with David Coverdale who was briefly married to actress Tawny Kitaen who appeared in a 1991 episode of Seinfeld as the girlfriend of Jerry Seinfeld who starred in Bee Movie (2007) as Barry B. Benson
SpongeBob SquarePants - Blackmore number of 4
Ritchie Blackmore is married to singer Candice Night who was featured on Moonglow (2019), an album by Avantasia, a supergroup project by musician Tobias Sammet which has also featured Twisted Sister vocalist Dee Snider who appeared in a 2009 episode of SpongeBob SquarePants
Megamind - Blackmore number of 4
Ritchie Blackmore was in Deep Purple with Glenn Hughes who has recorded several albums featuring the drumming talent of Red Hot Chili Pepper Chad Smith whose genetic clone Will Ferrell starred in Megamind (2010) as the titular character Megamind
Shrek - Blackmore number of 4
Ritchie Blackmore is currently collaborating in Deep Purple with Roger Glover who was featured on the 2017 album Paranormal by Alice Cooper who appeared in the film Wayne's World (1992) starring Mike Myers who played the titular role in Shrek (2001) **Shrek can also be accessed via Ronnie James Dio who appeared in The Pick of Destiny (2006) in the same scene as Meat Loaf who was also in Wayne's World (1992) starring Mike Myers who played the role of Shrek. Still 4 degrees. ***The Dio > Meat Loaf chart can also lead to Tim Curry via their shared apperance in Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) leading once again to Nigel Thornberry. Mr. Thornberry and Mr. Blackmore are connected through several 4-degree streams
Luigi Mario - Blackmore number of 3
Ritchie Blackmore was in Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio who appeared in The Pick of Destiny (2006) with Jack Black who played the role of Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) featuring Luigi Mario
Fa Mulan - Blackmore number of 3
Ritchie Blackmore (again) recruited into Rainbow and was really really really mean to the American musician Tony Carey who now plays in supergroup Mandoki Soulmates with Leslie Mándoki who composed the song I Lost My Heart In China for the German soundtrack to the film Mulan (1998) starring the character Fa Mulan
It appears 4 is the most common Blackmore number. Of all these examples it is apparent that Ritchie Blackmore is most closely connected to Fa Mulan and Luigi Mario. In another world, they are likely former members of Deep Purple or Rainbow who went on to lead fruitful careers in rock music after Ritchie fired them.
Now, these are just some examples I knew off the top of my head but if you gave me time I could probably find Mr. Blackmore's connection to almost any character in popular western animation. Please just know that this man is everywhere and you are not safe from his frightening influence and reach. Go in peace, my child.
P.S. Listen to April by Deep Purple if you're a Zelda fan who's down to have your world turned upside down P.P.S. please don't show this to Ritchie he will be so mad at me
