Mutant Rumbler and Kharn BioDrone Customs

Dollar Tree’s Final Faction toy line is super-90s in concept, so when making up for the lack of paint on the original figures, I decided to match the sculpts more than the canon. 

These were done with a base of black primer (I actually used spray paint, trust me, get real primer it's worth the extra cost) with neon and blacklight reactive acrylic hobby paints. Mostly washes and dry-brushing.

Mutant Rumbler - Altered by infusions of Serum-93, more beast than machine, a mutant Rumbler cannot be commanded or controlled. It must be trained. A loyal mutant Rumbler under the guidance of a skilled Kharn can decimate a fleet of Arrow-ATVs but a careless Kharn may find himself in his own Rumbaler’s gullet. Every mutant Rambler has unique weapons, making no two exactly alike.

Kharn BioDrone - When Serum-93 fails to induce full mutation in a Kharn Hive-drone, a BioDrone is the result. They are marginally tougher and smarter than a standard drone but their true power is their empathic connection to Snythoids and Rumblers, even mutant ones. These advantages come with increased curiosity and independence, a drawback Diabol is willing to overlook for now.

I should probably get back into the habit of posting stuff over here, given...things, huh? I thought I'd posted these before, but apparently not, so...have Powerflash and his stealth team, Tap-Out, Rumbler, and Sprocket. I was on a customizing figures into Action Masters kick for a while there, and this is the result. Well, most of the results. I also have a custom Rad and Kick-Off who I might as well just throw in, too, while I'm here. All of these guys are a little rough because I did them before I got an airbrush, but I'm still pretty happy with how they all turned out. (By the way, if anyone is keeping count, I have now bought three TR Highbrows and not a single one of them has remained a Highbrow.)

I can't get over how Rosies and Lancers give the Little Sister that they retrieve a small like, assuring or freshening-up sort of gesture.

It's so cute and endearing on their part. Its precious. Such a small detail, but sticks out to me.

Then there's the Rumbler:

My personal takes on what bioshock "big daddy's" look like underneath. After all, with ADAM... the flesh becomes clay. What excuse do we have not to sculpt, and sculpt, and sculpt, until the job is done?

This brass sleigh bell, or rumbler bell as they are sometimes called, was excavated in 2006 from an early 1830s to 1840s privy in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. The bell is missing a portion of one side as well as the loose iron ball from the inside. Bells were one of the most common sights and sounds in colonial and nineteenth-century America and were used for various purposes (Noel Hume 1970:59).
