But Jeanist barely talks in this chapter at all and most of it is monologue so idk where they’re pulling this drama from, I think they just wanna start shit tbh.

He’s not quite as head-empty as some of the others on this list, but god does he make up for it by acting like a dumbass out of good intentions anyway. Jounouchi is gonna grow up to be such a daddy.

2. Hibiki Ryoga

Himbo: Depression edition! Ryoga is such a good dude, and he gets shit on so hard by the narrative, but he ticks all of the boxes: is he buff? As fuck. Is his head empty? Oh god yes. Is he kind? He is kind and polite and charitable. And he turns into a goddamn baby pig. We stan, we appreciate, we will not try to cook him. Nothing but respect for this dumbass.

SIR. Okay this boy is so fine and so buff and so dumb, and he regularly butts his nose into fights he has no business being in because he’s so kind, and I love him so much. Look at this idiot. Saitou once told him to work on the basics of defense to he wouldn’t get so fucked up in a fight, and what does this idiot do? He does the absolute fucking opposite and pretends he doesn’t know what Saitou’s talking about (this is actually the exchange the above gif is from). Peak himbo. I would give my life for this idiot.

Random questions incoming! Who are some characters you found surprisingly easy to write for? How about characters that were surprisingly challenging, and why?

I’ve written (or RP’d back in ye olde days) a couple of eccentric characters (Kimblee from FMA (manga); Dr. Franken Stein from Soul Eater; Shinigami from Soul Eater) and found that it was surprisingly easy to write them in an engaging manner, though I never quite figured out why. In general, I find it easier to write villains rather than heroes. (The best compliment  I ever got from my RP days was that someone ended up checking out Soul Eater because of an interaction with my Stein in a sandbox LJ RP, haha.)

Characters that are challenging to write? HMM, I’m not sure. I think I might have accidentally stayed in my comfort zone throughout my entire writing experience? I generally try to write what I want to, rather than what I think I should. 

As a consolation prize - I did find out this year that I’m terrible at planning in the sense that I suck at writing on a schedule or by forcing myself to execute scenes (causes the scene to lack authenticity) and largely need to pants them in order for them to sound natural.

Let’s Talk Music and Kaiba (Part 2 - The Show off)

So, in my earlier post - Click here - I talked about how there are many fanfics that don’t bring up that he does play the guitar. I was asked but the awesome @rumbllefish​ how would the rest of the group find out about his talents with the instrument. Well, while it happening by accident is a possibility, I don’t believe Kaiba would let it be an accident. 

So here me out: 

Its post Duelist Kingdom. Mokuba is fighting Seto tooth and nail on how he shouldn’t go to school because his big brother never goes. Seto knows the importance of making sure Mokuba socializes, so they make a deal. Everythime Seto goes to school so does Mokuba (Unless it highly important to Kaiba Corp. to which Mokuba still has to attend school when Seto doesn’t.). 

One day, when Seto shows up, he realizes that the school is getting together to do their yearly festival. The CEO has zero interest in building a stand or entertaining anyone. Yet he knows this week would be good for Mokuba as it could teach him leadership, get him to socialize, and maybe have fun. Rubbing his temples, he wonders what idiotic idea his class as decided to do. 

Much to his delight, his class as split off into mini groups. The elder Kaiba can do his own thing by doing nothing at all. Taking out his book, he might as well catch up on some light reading since he has a few hours. Then a disturbing noise graces his ears. The horrible screeching makes his teeth chatter, its worse than nails on a chalk board. Swiftly he gets up and goes to leave the classroom. As he leaves, the sounds only get worse. 

For once Seto Kaiba hates the sharp hearing me has and wants to rip off his ears. As he searches for the source of the noise, so he can bitch out who ever is causing it, a sudden note makes him aware of what is making that sound. A guitar. 

Kaiba is horrified. 

He had never encountered something so awful being played on his instrument of freedom. Whoever was playing the thing needed to stop. The sounds, no longer were just a blight upon the school, they were now offensive to him. So he marched on, throwing open every door he came across until he was sure he found it. The noise was even worse being right outside the door. The tall brunette cringed as another mistaken note was played. Someone needed to be stabbed. 

As he threw open the door he felt his rage start to boil. Of course, it just had to be them. Out of all the people in the school, he could never get away from the dorks that plagued his life. His eye twitched as the blond tried to play another note with his friends. Marching over, without any warning, Kaiba grabbed the instrument out of the boys hands. The blonde began to protest but an icy glare shut him up. 

Taking control of the situation, Kaiba didn’t even have to look at the strings to start playing an impressive rift. Keeping cold eye contact with the blonde, he played a rather threatening melody at the boy, not caring if the rest of the geek squad was staring at him. Seto Kaiba knew he was impressive, he didn’t need their expressions to validate him. Seeing Wheeler’s defeated look was enough. Once the CEO was done he left with the guitar. Wheeler would no longer abuse the fair maiden as long as Kaiba was around. 

However he never expected Yugi to come chasing after him and asking him to be part of the band. Kaiba told him politely to fuck off. Then the pharaoh appeared to make a bet. They duel, and should the Pharaoh win Kaiba would join, if he lost, Kaiba was free to leave. Raising an eyebrow and smirking, Kaiba agreed.

For the first time in his life, Kaiba had to take part in the festival.

07: What did you last eat?

Like real food? I had a super quick dinner of sushi rice with an egg and some furikake sprinkled on top. Breakfast was a fruit smoothie and a protein bev, bc lazy, and I haven’t decided what today’s takeout will be.

16: How exactly are you feeling at the moment?

Pretty all right! Sawhft from Bakugou fic, rewatching the Mandalorian for the dozenth time so sawhft there too. Work is going pretty well, and today’s cardio day so I’m about to be beat lol. Could do with a nap tbvh but I have things I want to get done.

37: Is it easier to forgive or forget?

In my case neither lmao I’m unfortunately not a terribly forgiving person, especially because I’m not the kind of person who believes forgiveness is necessary for healing (that’s a load of bullshit, imo). I operate a little bit like a companion in an rpg where you get +/- compatibility points - the bad thing that docked points will always have docked points, but that doesn’t mean you can’t fill the gauge back up in other ways.

(I hold myself to this standard as well - if I do a bad thing, I want to know about it so that I can work hard and make up for it.)

And I don’t really forget much. I used to have an eidetic memory. Due to the effects of some longterm trauma, it isn’t photographic anymore, but I’ve gotten it pretty sharp again during my recovery.

63: Would you change your name?

I have put a lot of thought into this my entire life actually. I’ve made peace with my given name, and I feel like my name and I suit each other, but I am absolutely changing my surname when I have the opportunity. I even have one picked out.
