Jiang Cheng would very much like to throw all the Lan and Jin disciples out from Lotus Pier because they’re all irritating as hell and even worse when they’re together, but there’s the issue of keeping them from spreading rumors and that Lan Wangji and Jin Zixuan are going to refuse to leave.
Jin Zixuan is fair enough. That’s his wife and child. But Jiang Cheng give anything to be able to kick Lan Wangji into the nearest lotus pond rather than put a roof over his head.
He wants to lie down and not think for a little bit and he wants to hide his face in his older sister’s skirts like when he was a child and he wants to hold onto Wei Wuxian so he can’t leave him again but none of that is reasonable or justifiable or fair.
So instead he watches as they discuss what to do next, how to handle this without kicking off another war.
It’s good to be concerned, and careful, but he doesn’t think there’ll be another war from this, even if they just them back into society with minimal explanation. At least, there won’t be as long as they don’t start killing sect leaders.
Things are different now than they were thirteen years ago.
He has a much firmer grip on his clan and the place of the Jiang in cultivation society isn’t desecrated and limping along. The same can be said of Lan Xichen and the Lan.
Nie Mingjue was an ass last time, somewhat understandably, but both Nie Huaisang and Lan Xichen are better equipped to talk him down and pacify him this time. Besides, Jiang Cheng is a lot more willing and able to kick his ass about it if he has to.
While he would very much like to avoid doing anything with Lan Wangji, he knows he would help, that now that Wei Wuxian is back it’s going to be hell getting that asshole out of their hair. They might as well put him to work.
He real problem, the thing that just shoehorning them back in place stupid rather than inadvisable, is the Jin and the minor clans that have clustered around them.
Jin Zixuan and his ilk aren’t a problem, of course. But Jin Guangshan and the older members of their clan that are still loyal to him, which is a rather large amount, don’t like anything that upsets the balance of power away from them and they do their best to crush it. And often succeed.
He wishes he’d known, he wishes the letter A-jie and Wei Wuxian insist they’ve sent had gotten to him and that he hadn’t spent the past thirteen years drowning and curdling in his grief, he wishes they hadn’t had to survive on their own, hiding and lying and running, and that he could have helped them.
But despite all that, he understands why A-jie felt the need to take her son and run from Koi Tower.

Was thinking about how often I see reactionary pro-Jiang Cheng content, and I just realized something: jc stans, just like their fav, believe that every good thing Wei Wuxian has—whether loved ones or good memories or admirable characteristics or character growth, whether canon or fanon—is actually the rightful property of Jiang Cheng that Wei Wuxian “stole” from him through the sin of existing, and it is their sworn duty to correct this “oversight” of canon.
Wei Wuxian gets his happily ever after with the love of his life, so jc stans give Jiang Cheng Lan Xichen and call Lan Wangji “second place.” Or they make Lan Wangji a cheater because “he actually likes Jiang Cheng more (who doesn’t, amiright?)” or Wei Wuxian a cheater because “he can never appreciate a good thing like Jiang Cheng can.” People point out how Wei Wuxian and Nie Huaisang seem to have had a closer relationship than Nie Huaisang and Jiang Cheng, so jc stans make the latter two a ship or make them the bestest friends ever that bond over being annoyed with Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian has a close relationship with the Wen siblings, so jc stans make Wen Qing spend all their time together saying that Jiang Cheng “was right” about him while Wen Ning is being “bullied” into being “anti-jc.”
Wei Wuxian is canonically smart and driven, so jc stans say that he is lazy while Jiang Cheng is hardworking. Wei Wuxian is canonically charismatic, so jc stans say that it was actually Jiang Cheng who was loved by all the disciples and is the sole reason the Jiang Clan of the present was able to pull in new disciples post-fall. Wei Wuxian loves to learn, so jc stans say that Jiang Cheng was actually a model student being sabotaged by the slovenly Wei Wuxian.
People imagine the Lan as accepting Wei Wuxian post-canon or imagine aus where the Lan adopt him as a child, so jc stans make Jiang Cheng the adopted Lan child, who Lan Qiren now likes better than his own nephews. People write Nie!wwx, so jc stans write about how “actually” Nie Mingjue sees Jiang Cheng as the brother he never had and views Wei Wuxian as an unwanted nuisance and competition. People make the most batshit ooc au where the QishanWen are actually good and adopt Wei Wuxian, and jc stans turn that into actually, the Jiang siblings are adopted while Wei Wuxian stays with the “totally horrible, abusive” father in Yunmeng. Fucking Baoshan Sanren descends from her mountain to look for her martial grandson, and jc stans will shove Jiang Cheng into the narrative as a disciple because “he’s just so lovable!” In all of these cases, some will still imagine that Wei Wuxian still gets left on the streets as a petty afterthought.
Shit, even some of the BAD things that happen to Wei Wuxian canonically are misappropriated by jc stans to give Jiang Cheng unearned sympathy. Wei Wuxian was whipped as a child? Now Jiang Cheng was too, but also his dad hates him. Wei Wuxian is an orphan who creates his own family in adulthood? Jiang Cheng is now disowned/an unloved runaway who later finds his people because who wouldn’t want him (amiright?). Wei Wuxian was at risk of losing his golden core completely in the transfer if it failed? Well Jiang Cheng was going to DIE! “See? Look how much harder Jiang Cheng’s life was than that pathetic attention whore Wei Wuxian! Doesn’t he deserve all the things Wei Wuxian has? Aren’t they rightfully his???”
And it’s like, you can’t even escape into fan content with this type of mentality, because look out how much I mentioned is popular fanon. Notice how ubiquitous these ideas are surrounding anything to do with Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng, even if only one of them is mentioned. No matter what anyone reads in the novel, no matter what individuals come up with in their own heads, no matter what tag or platform is used or not used to keep it out of their hands, jc stans will be there to create a reactionary counterpart to prove that nothing, nothing can ever just be Wei Wuxian’s. Because at the end of the day, the “oversight” that jc stans want to correct isn’t Jiang Cheng’s supposed depreciation by the author. The “oversight” was the author daring to say that Wei Wuxian deserves to be treated as his own person and not Jiang Cheng’s personal property. And every fandom interaction has been retaliation towards that fact.
The main character of the novel is relegated to mere a lightning rod that exists to attract all of Jiang Cheng’s bad qualities while injecting him with all of Wei Wuxian’s good, but jc stans wonder why people are upset.

When it didn't happen after Jin Guangyao's death, they waited... ...and waited... ...and waited. Nothing! Absolutely Nothing! Up until Wei Qianbei met them on a Nighthunt, they thought that he was an idiot for leaving the Cloud Recesses! But... that was before. Now they wonder... does Hanguang-Jun deserve Wei Qianbei? Kay's comments: This fic is a The Untamed and Novel Canon mix, but is set after The Untamed ending where Wangxian go their seperate ways and it's a reply to the mixed signals our dear Lan Wangji was sending, especially in his first life, which led to Wei Wuxian being unsure where they stood, especially after being left at the side of the road. A delightful outsider POV where the outsider in question realizes: huh, so that guys isn't an oblivious idiot? Really loved it! Excerpt: “You were on Hanguang-Jun’s level?” Jingyi asked in shock. “Of course!” Wei Qianbei exclaimed. “I still remember the first time we duelled. On a rooftop under moonlight and Emperor’s Smile in my hand.” The Juniors listened intently, hoping to hear something romantic. “He broke my jar! Told me to leave!” Wei Qianbei laughed, not noticing the Juniors’ flinch. “Of course, I was sneaking into Cloud Recesses after curfew the night before the Guest Lectures started. He told me ‘No entry after curfew’. And I had the Emperor’s Smile, so he told me off for the alcohol. And I made the mistake of trying to bribe him with it. So, three offences on our first meeting. He was so mad. I don’t know how I convinced him to be my friend when I was only there for three months, one of those months he oversaw my punishment copying the rules! I think we became friends after that.” Wei Qianbei looked happy about it for some reason, but none of the juniors could understand why. What was so romantic about fighting someone on a rooftop for breaking the rules and getting one of your belongings destroyed in the process? Obviously Wei Qianbei is biased, but love makes people biased towards the ones they love, so this is to be expected. Wei Qianbei obviously loves Hanguang-Jun, but… it doesn’t sound like Hanguang-Jun loves Wei Qianbei back.

Wei Ying shakes his head, and Lan Zhan’s hands come up to his cheeks, tipping his head back up.
“Wei Ying.” he says, softly, and leans in to kiss him. It’s softer this time, but just as deep, his tongue sweeping gently along Wei Ying’s lower lip, coaxing. Showing, Wei Ying realises. Letting him learn. He feels the heat rise again, but it’s different this time, contained, somehow, by Lan Zhan’s firm hands, the warm press of his chest.

In hopes of this being their last chance to surviving, but feeling extremely miserable for resorting to something as dangerous as demonic cultivation, he takes Wei Wuxian’s injured body in his arms, takes his sword “Bichen”, and cuts his own fingers just enough for them to bleed tiny bloody droplets. He takes the talismans written with his and Wei Wuxian’s blood and activates it before anyone can reach them and stop Lan Wangji. The voices of his Shufu, Xiongzhang and elders disperse to complete silence and darkness.

Time is a Bottle: A Little Stowaway
((Aka the au that Wei Changze and Jiang Fengmian got together and had the yunmeng sibs as their kids! Title is from this song ((bec i'm shawol trash))
“No! No!” a baby’s cries can be heard throughout Lotus Pier. The passing disciples are giggling amongst themselves as they heard the youngest master beg his much older siblings, “Stay home with A-Xiu!” His wide gray eyes are shining with tears, as it runs down his face like a river. “Diedie!” he runs to Jiang Fengmian as the child grabs the sect leader’s skirts. He hugs his father’s leg and begs tearfully, “Diedie! Tell Jiejie, Da-Ge, and Er-Ge not to leave A-Xiu!” 
Jiang Fengmian sighs as he lifts the five-year-old to carry on his hip. “A-Xiu,” he sighs as he wipes the child’s tears away. “Your siblings will have to go to Gusu to learn with other students like them.” He pressed a kiss on his youngest’s forehead, “It is not a place for babies like you.”
Jiang Wuxian coos at his youngest sibling as he pressed himself to Jiang Fengmian’s other side. He nuzzles his nose against Jiang Xiu’s, succeeding in making the child giggle after days of misery. “Aiyah A-Xiu,” He reproaches the child playfully, “Be a good bao and three months will fly by.” The eldest son leans as if to share a secret, “Diedie and Baba will need A-Xiu’s help since we are all going to Gusu. Can A-Xiu do that?” At the child’s reluctant nod, Jiang Wuxian grins wide and pats his brother’s head, “Good boy.”
When they left early in the morning, to travel by boat to Gusu. They sing, tell stories, and pass gossip like aunties in the marketplace.
Jiang Cheng suspected something was wrong when he heard kitten-like mewls from underneath their benches. He spies a quick look thinking that Chaochao had stowed away into their boat only to see a flash of lavender and small limbs. He is quick to grab the back of his runaway little brother’s robes before he could scurry away like the kitten that he is. He lifts him up like one and feels a headache coming in.
“You naughty, naughty little boy!”
Jiang Yanli scolds, her hands resting on her hips, as Jiang Xiu gives them kitten glares from where he is being held in Jiang Cheng’s arms. “Diedie must already be losing his mind.” her second brother mutters as he adjusts his hold on the child. Jiang Yanli nods in agreement while pinching A-Xiu’s cheeks in punishment.

in flammam flammas (sokka/zuko, M, 94,828): a postcanon fic about zuko at age 25, moving past trauma as he rebuilds his support network (which includes a hot swt bf and very cute baby dragon). basically all my postwar fire nation headcanons, but it's also the first longfic i ever wrote and i'm so proud of it!
nip it in the bud (sokka/zuko, E, 15,450): zuko gets ritual nipple piercings, sokka incurs genuine brain damage over them. this is a horny, irreverent fic and i had SO much fun dreaming up word crimes to commit
lan eye for the bland guy (lan wangji/wei wuxian, G, 3,236): crackfic in which lwj abducts wwx for a free facial and they fall in hashtag instalove. a bit of an oldie and YEAH, wangxian; rereading still makes me crack tf up
galactic repairman (sokka/zuko, T, 5,410): zuko's a runaway from his home planet, and sokka fixes his craft when it breaks down. oh, and they're stuck together for like a month bc of intergalactic travel times! i loved playing with the world in this one, which is based on chinese astronomy—the story itself is based on a cantopop song
close your eyes and reinvent me (fu shen/yan xiaohan, T, 5,914): modern au in which fs and yxh terrorise (and are terrorised in return by) the staff at the hotpot restaurant where they work. this one's niiiiiche, but i loved writing the characters and i tried out some new stuff in terms of technique/voice that i enjoyed

we're in an AU that's "historical to the world of atla", the fire nation has a civil war instead of world war, and our victorious fire lord needs a new bodyguard. enter sokka and suki, who have to duke it out with their competitors for the job. but just what kinda guy is this fire lord: a former slave, a god in flesh, a man who usurped his own father...

Oh gosh, I have too many fic ideas for MDZS but here is one: funky gender and pregnancy ahead.
LWJ returns from his travels with a beautiful woman. She’s strong and smart and when he asks permission to marry this Wen Ying, both his uncle and brother are unwilling to give permission.
You’re too young, she’s a Wen and worst of all - no Lan will have a fox bride.
But, well, LWJ is stubborn and his love dejected.
“I should’ve expected it,” they say. “I can turn myself into a woman, have Wen Qing adopt me into her sect and follow all those rules, your uncle barely took more than one look at me before he said no.”
What a fool Wei Ying had made of himself, thinking he might have a chance. But, well, Lan Wangji is stubborn, so in the morning, LXC sends out disciples to find his brother and his runaway fox bride, but for all sense and purpose, they’ve vanished into the wind.
Three years later, LXC sees his brother again, as he marches into the Lan camp with a Wen General’s decapitated head.
“They burned down our village when we refused to fight,” says LWJ, Hölle like he’s never been. “They killed my spouse and child.”
LXC pulls his brother close.
At the other war front, Jiang Cheng meets the brother he should’ve had. The last time JC had thought of him had been when rumors of the second Jade of Lan eloping with a fox broke through. His father grew sad then, spoke of the boy he couldn’t save. JC feels inadequate as a sect leader, but he hopes he can do his father proud in this. Wei Wuxian is a walking nightmare, has cultivated six blackened tails from the resentment of the dead. “Wen Chao took the three I had,” Wei Wuxian said. “I want his head and heart for my dead spouse and son.”
Jiang Yanli looks at him and thinks WWX needs help, JC thinks that perhaps he can do his father proud if he offers WWX a place in their sect, something to live for.
And then, there in the heart of Qishan, is Wen Ning. He lacks confidence, most of the time, so people think him incapable of lying, but he was taught to lie by the greatest performer of all. He does not remember the day his mother came home with an injured boy and offered him a place to stay, but he does recall the day WWX asked for etiquette lessons, and the day he returned home again with his fiancé and asked if they could hold a wedding there in Dafan, the money WN and his sister put aside for a marriage to Gusu Lan instead used for travels, and later fixing up a cottage to live in until the child would be born. The point is this: WN lies well when the situation demands it, so he lied about the child he pulled from the charred remains of his best friend’s home, claimed the kid as a direct cousin, instead of an adopted nephew. Now all he needs is to get him back to his parents.
Or: I really wanted a fic wheee wangxian meet early and wanna get married but there are enough objects for LWJ to leave his sect, but it escalates into “how long can two characters think they lost everything they loved.”

Entirely unacceptable.

And, despite knowing better, Jiang Cheng asked, “How? Lan Wangji can’t bitch you—”
Wei Wuxian paused in his splashing and raised his head just to see Jiang Cheng’s horrified expression. He couldn’t tell if that was because his brother refused to think about Wei Wuxian’s sex life, which was also what Wei Wuxian preferred, or because he’d hit the nail on the head. Wei Wuxian cackled.

Hi! Sorry for the delay; things ended up getting even more hectic than anticipated!
At the same time, y'all are really putting me through it; I got two 🌩 requests (for something funny and cracky) when I'd thought for sure this would be the last thing I was asked for given my usual fic genre/writing reputation! Since they were both anon, I'm just going to answer them together in the same ask, and you each get two for the price of one (ask)! (I really had to wrack my brains for this; sorry if they're not stunning 👍)
The first, from my MDZS/Untamed fic: there's not much to share here but I will include a snippet of conversation I feel is at least somewhat amusing. (Note: it's from Jiang Cheng's POV, but the conversation is between my beloveds: Wei WuXian and Nie HuaiSang.)
“Wei-xiong, Wei-xiong, what have you done to yourself?” A hand lifted into the air and waved aimlessly. “Aiya, Nie-xiong, not you too!” “And here I am, minding my own business in Qinghe-” Wei WuXian snorted at that. “As if you ever mind your own business.” His only answer was the fan snapping closed and being pointed at him as Nie HuaiSang kept talking anyway. “When I hear that my old friend, genius though he is-” A splutter rose up at that, but it had too many consonants to be a word and too many letters to not be one. “-Has been brought to the brink of death-” An eye roll. “It wasn’t death,” Wei WuXian tried, since he apparently hadn’t learned to shut his mouth any better than he had as a teenager. “-and in the middle of a night hunt! What was I supposed to do but come visit?” “We both know you didn’t need a night hunt going not at all badly-” The fan slides open again. “Disastrously.” “Slightly awry.” “Violently amiss.” “A little bit wrong!”
And since I don't have much else funny/cracky to share from a WIP, I shall share something funny about a WIP, which is that I'm currently writing a fic that was initially not mine --- it was a thing instigated by a runaway conversation about angsty Starkid moments and also food metaphors that was eventually given the name "pasta." This fic was supposed to be a drabble, but ended up being 3k words that so possessed me that I decided to write on the subject as well. I am 4k words in and there hasn't been any food whatsoever, much less any pasta. I'm starting to think this fic is cursed. Or blessed? Whichever. Anyway! So Lan Jingyi says this, right? But at this point in the story, we have literally come across no other “unorthodox” cultivator except for Mo Xuanyu (who we don’t know how he got his knowledge at this point) and Wei Wuxian, the literal founder of the path. Note that he is talking about all of the people Jiang Cheng has dragged back to murder, but for all of the “Wei Wuxian’s path is so easy to follow, anyone can practice it and most people do because they’re lazy!” rhetoric, we literally never see any practitioner outside of Mo Xuanyu and Xue Yang, and they were both directly studying Wei Wuxian’s notes under the Jin Clan banner. Plus, we also know that the cultivation world is rife with counterfeit cultivation manuals because of Jin Guangyao’s backstory, so are there really any “demonic” cultivators in existence because of the ghost path or... are they all just scammers tryna make a quick buck and their victims tryna learn how to make a name and living for themselves?

Jiang Cheng wakes slowly to the feeling of spiritual energy swimming through his veins. Not just swimming. Singing. Flooding. He was filled with it. One: Perhaps the not-voice is a spirit, wailing its own grief. Two: Perhaps it is Wei Wuxian. There is no shortage of unhappy spirits in the world, now, so there is no certainty of that, but Lan Wangji must find out if there is any chance at all. Three: They have not taken his guqin, but the guards will hear it if he plays, and they may stop him. Four: He must then leave Cloud Recesses.

Death would be a fate too kind for Wei Wuxian. He should pay for every sin he committed.
At least that’s the only explanation he has for this impossible situation. After falling from the cliff he woke up in his 15 year old body, just before his months of study at Cloud Recesses.
So, thinking it was for the best, he decides to disappear when he was supposed to be searching for their lost invitation.
Little does he know someone else came back in time with him.

Frivolous
  Hii! How are you, guys? I’m late, but alive. So this is day 12 of Beetober2021 from @bloody-bee-tea and the prompt is Frivolous. This is a sequence to the AU from Day 1 and Day 5, so if you want to read those, it would be good. Anyways, the word count is 1865 words and I hope you enjoy this!

  Jiang Cheng felt Wei Wuxian's eyes at the top of his head and decided against saying anything about it. After all, it had been only three months since the cultivation world knew that he was alive and it would be asking too much for him to already be used to his presence there. Even more once his appearance was so different from what it would be if he was still a Jiang disciple. 
  His hair was shorter now than it had been when he died and his ears were pierced too, shining and glamorous earrings hanging from them almost every day and moment, and his robes were green now instead of purple. The braids on his hair were much more tight than they had been before and there was something different about the way that he walked. Or, at least, that was what Nie Huaisang said to him. 
  So, it wasn’t news that Wei Wuxian still stared at him every time they met, even if this was the tenth time they met again. After the revelation and the discussion with his father at the conference, both Wei Wuxian and Jiang Yanli had called him for a talk at Jinlin Tai and to say that the atmosphere was tense would be the understatement of the year. He let them talk as much as they wanted and when they were finally over, he said his side of the story and left, surprising himself with the fact that there were Nie disciples waiting for him at the foot of the stairs. 
  His siblings kept in touch after that and, slowly, their relationship started to be amended. Sometimes, it was them that came to him and others it was him that went for them, but it worked for them like that and, though there were many things still needing to be discussed, Jiang Cheng liked to think that they were getting close. Which made the fact that Wei Wuxian was staring at him like that right now very, very strange. 
  "When did you become so frivolous?" Wei Wuxian said and he lifted his head quickly. 
  "What the hell, Wei Wuxian?" He looked down at the green and elaborate robes that he was wearing. They were in the colors of the Nie with golden lines all of them and drawing trees and birds at the outer robe. The inner one was simpler and lighter in color, but it too had some embroidery that showed some flowers that he had no idea what they were. He sighed deeply because, yes, he shouldn't have let Nie Huaisang have free reign over his robes. 
  "You never cared about that kind of thing when we were younger! Why are you doing it now?" He said, pointing at his robes and earrings. "You are even using earrings and necklaces!" And he truly was. It was a simple necklace that he bought some months after becoming Nie Qinghua to the world and the disciples adopting him. They had dragged him out of the training field and into the city's market, showing as many things as they could before Nie Mingjue discovered that he had left and he saw it at one of the vendors. 
  "Wei Wuxian, please. I--" He started but he interrupted him with a lifted finger. 
  "No 'I died'. I know you died, but I want the real reason." His eyes were narrowed and he smiled sheepishly at him. It was a joke nowadays, that 'I died', and even the Nie disciples had picked on that. Everytime they wanted to get out of something, they would look people dead in the eye and say 'I can't do this. I died' or 'While you were playing and joking with your friends, I died studying the blade.' He didn't know if he should be proud or exasperated at that. "When did you become so frivolous?"
  "Never let A-Yu hear you saying that. She will fight against you for that." He let out a sigh because yes, the girl would fight him and Mingjue would enable her and then they would cause a war. "I actually liked these before but I never felt comfortable wearing them." 
  "Why not?" He asked and Jiang Cheng couldn't help but look at him as if he was crazy. Because he surely remembered that every time he tried to change his appearance, his mother would scream at him, would say that no respectable heir cared more about their appearances than about their cultivation and that he should be ashamed of himself for that. Wei Wuxian was almost always there and Madam Yu never failed to blame him too, even if it was only Jiang Cheng's fault. "Oh, yeah. That." Wei Wuxian said after he only stared at him, nodding pensively. "But back then your accessories weren't so… Er, how do I say that?" 
  "Weren't so eye-catching? Sparkling? Fancy? Elaborate?" Jiang Cheng suggested, amused at the way that Wei Wuxian nodded almost childishly. "Yeah, that's Huaisang's fault. Those first months I was living here, he made it his personal mission to dress me up and back then it made sense because I was his cousin and everything." That and because he always cared for his appearances and really liked the robes he brought for him to approve. 
  "And now?" He prompted, lifting an eyebrow. 
  "I got used to it. I feel underdressed when it isn't something like this that I'm wearing." He shrugged, throwing his bangs back and putting his head to the side. "Any other questions?" 
  "What about the earrings?" Wei Wuxian said, pointing at them and he lifted his hand to touch one of them. 
  "Nie Mingjue." He answered simply because it had been Mingjue that bought and gave them to him two days ago. They were made of an elaborate golden chain that was long enough to reach his shoulders and had a green gem at the end of it. It had been a spontaneous present, according to him, something he had seen at the market and thought of him. "They were a present."
  "Those ones? A present?" He said, face carefully blank as he pointed at them. "Cool." He nodded, before pointing over his shoulders. "I have to get going, I have a compromise now, but later I'll come back." 
  "Okay. Until later." Jiang Cheng looked up to him, nodding as his brother smiled and went away. He knew that this was very uncharacteristic for his brother and that there was something wrong with or that he didn't like in the conversation, but they weren't like they were before yet and he didn't want to overstep. So he let him go without further explanations and went on with his own day. There were so many things he needed to do that if he didn't start right away, he was never going to finish. 
  He tried to not think much about what Wei Wuxian had said and let that get to him. By far, he had done an impressive job of avoiding it and was still doing, but every second that passed the same thought kept appearing in front of his mind. 'When did I become so frivolous?' Every time it appeared, it was pushed to the end of his mind, but sometimes he let it linger for a moment too long and answers would appear, one after the other, one worse than the other. 
  At the end of the day, his head was exploding in pain and all he wanted to do was lay down and sleep until the next morning, but he still had to go to dinner and if he skipped it, Nie Huaisang would descend on him like a hawk. Wei Wuxian hadn't come back after that hour and Jiang Cheng tried to not think too much about it, after all, it wasn't his fault that the asshole had probably forgotten about coming back and was drinking somewhere. He was heading back to the dining hall when a scream came behind him. 
  "Nie-guwen!" Nue Daiyu and Nie Li called out, waving at him smiling happily, but with his head hurting like that, it only served for him to wince. 
  "What?" Jiang Cheng snapped, furrowing his eyebrows and turning to them in time to see the flinching too. "Sorry, it's just that --" 
  "Wei-gongzi talked to you too, right?" Nie Daiyu said, furrowing her forehead and looking at him. 
  "Yeah. How do you know that?" He asked, fully turning to them and seeing Nie Li pointing to the corridor they came from. 
  "Because he is talking with Nie-zongzhu right now and we heard screams." The kid said, overly happy at the fact and Jiang Cheng only smiled at him. He was one of the youngest of that generation, but, like his name suggested, he was powerful and had potential. "Daiyu-shijie heard something along the lines of 'pervert' and 'proposal'."
  "And you didn't go in to interrupt him?" He turned to her and she only shrugged, clearly angry at the fact. "Why didn't you?" 
 "Because Nie-zongzhu told me not to. He said that he would deal with him alone and that there was no need for us to worry." She said, crossing her arms and pouting. 
  "Obviously, Daiyu-shijie decides to stay a little bit more and, after some minutes, Wei-gongzi started screaming about how Nie-zongzhu was a pervert and he better propose to someone before Yunmeng Jiang descended on him like death itself." Nie Li added and he lifted his eyebrows at him because what the hell?
  "What the fuck?" He whispered and ignored the way that their eyebrows lifted at the cuss, trying to remember why Wei Wuxian would do that to Nie Mingjue. Was he drunk? Probably, but he still didn't think it was that. He never drank when he was serious about something and he seemed serious about that compromise of his earlier. 
  "Didi!" Wei Wuxian's voice reached the corridor before he did and he snapped his head up to see him sliding in and running to him. "Don't you worry 'bout a thing, Didi. Gege is going to make sure that everything is done properly!" He exclaimed, grabbing both his arms and shaking him a little before kissing both his cheeks and running away. "You'll see, everything is going to be done properly!" He screamed one more time before disappearing in the corridors. 
  "What the hell is he on?" Jiang Cheng said and Nie Li shrugged beside him while Nie Daiyu scowled at his brother. 
  "Filial piety." Nie Mingjue said and the three of them turned around to stare at him. "C'mon, let's get to dinner before I get any other threat to my life and intimate parts." He pushed them ahead slightly and started walking.
  "What?!" He looked up to him, eyes wide, while Nie Li stared at them shocked and Nie Daiyu narrowed her eyes and said. 
  "I'm going to kill him." 
  "No need. And, apparently, I've done a lot of things wrong, I am a pervert and he's going to make sure that everything is right." He shrugged and Jiang Cheng turned to the corridor where Wei Wuxian had disappeared and felt his eyebrows furrowing. And all of that because of a pair of earrings?
