#someone is insisting at me on the lotro forums that the old li level up animation #the two swords spinning around #is too much of a drain on resources #(in a discussion on someones suggestion that it should be added back in to indicate when youve unlocked a new reward on the rt) #and 'unnecessary' #well i assume they meant unnecessary #what they actually said was 'unnercecarry'. they could have meant something else i suppose #first off if you want to avoid everything unnecessary in a game #have you considered playing a game where you click a button and an onscreen counter goes up by one every time you do #it wouldnt strain your systems resources thats for sure! #and second of all if my 2014 netbook potato that i played lotro on from 2018-2021 could handle it (it could) #then any computer that functions at all today should be able to #so dont come at me with that #like the white tree level up animation didnt even happen half the time and crashed my game when it did #but the li level up animation would go off without even a drop in framerate #its not any more a drain on resources than weapon auras or basically anything a runekeeper does

Welp.

One of my D&D groups fell apart. Basically two players had to drop due to scheduling conflicts / IRL stuff, and the chemistry of the group after we brought new people in just didn't work. It's no one's fault, some people just don't vibe. I think the stress of the lack-of-vibes has contributed to one of my absolute favorite people needing a break, and I dunno if she'd be down for a future game or not. This group has existed in some incarnation since... damn. 2019, I think? Maybe 2018. Fuck. That's a long time. I get by with compartmentalizing, and this is a sadness that seems like it is not going to fit into a box for safekeeping. I just need it to not blow the lid off every other box.

LOTRO folks, I'm curious about something! reblog and put in the tags what you headcannon the class/class combination of your favorite ranger(s) is.

I'll go first: Corunir is a Guardian/Loremaster (leans more into guard), Golodir is (unsurprisingly) a Captain, Candaith is a Hunter, and Halros is a Warden

#and Saeradan is a Hunter/Runekeeper #(I say this mostly bc you can get 'Saeradan's Rune-Stone' as a reward and he can heal you in that one skirmish) #is it flimsy? yes. but this is a headcannon so it can be a little flimsy #besides. if any human character could learn rune-magic it could only be a Dunedain right? #they're the only ones you could argue live long enough for it #'live long enough for it' I say. as if the life expectancy for a ranger isn't painfully lower than their maximum lifespan :') #lotro #reblog games #corunir #golodir #candaith #saeradan #halros

when she first starts training with weapons -- post-bragollach, in amon ereb -- young morinel insists on being a miniature version of her father, and insists on learning duel wielding. her father agrees, on the condition that she masters single-wielding first. her training is a very trying process as she tries different swords until she find the type that balances properly for her. once she is proficient at single-wielding, her father allows her to start her dual-wielding training by adding in a parrying dagger, and when she masters that -- several years later -- she is finally allowed to learn dual-wielding. it is harder than she first thought it would be, but feanorian stubbornness is her life-blood, and she doesn't give up. this remains her favored fighting style for years, with only mild and exceptional departures (ie, when on 'stealth' hunts after the nirnaeth arnoediad, or in the woods of taur-im-duinath after the third kinslaying). then the early second age, she picks up rune-keeping as more... hobby isn't the right word, but it's the closest... than anything, and she only uses rune-keeper as something serious post-war of elves & sauron. although, her sword is still her go-to for something when she needs to fight right now and doesn't have time to 'set up' her runes.
