More Merchant!Ethan and Leon
Though it always felt like a day, in truth missions took more like a week. Always feeling on edge, adrenaline pumping through him, focusing on staying alive. So, yeah, time wise, it felt like all the hours were crushed together in a bid of survival.
His body though, his body felt every toll the week had on him...
At least this mission was nice enough to give him somewhere to crash...for a fee...of course...
But hey, paying to not to have his face chewed off as he rested and good hot meals when he woke up, still better then anything else he had been on.
Not to mention the view he got as he watched his new...friend...work around his small home.
The ass on Papa dearest was unfair and the fact he couldn't just sink his teeth into it was a crime.
Still couldn't get the man's real name and Miss Rose told him she already told him his name, that was her Papa, what else would she call him.
Which fair...she was five...
It was the end now though...everything was done and he was just waiting for pickup...this would be the last meal he'll get from the younger man, the last picture Miss Rose will paint him...
Once he left...the small family will return back to the road, disappearing into whatever place merchants like them go.
"You seem upset?"
He didn't even notice when Papa came up beside him, both of them now staring at the empty out husk of a town, Leon just dramatically sighs as he throws an arm over his new friend's shoulder, "just thinking how I don't even know your name, I don't want to be calling out for Papa when I dream of you when your gone!"
"Oh, so your the type that prefers to be called that then? Didn't figure you for one that enjoyed being called Daddy."
"Never know," the older blonde just winks, "though...if you come with me...we can find out together if that's true or not."
The only answer is a low chuckle before they both fall back into silence...letting the atmosphere sink in around them.
"You could come with us instead...Rose adores you...the world has so much to be seen once you experience things like this...it opens itself up to possibilities others couldn't imagine. Good possibilities...and I think...I think you could use more of that..."
The air shifts around them, falling into an uncomfortable sadness as Leon frowns and stares back into the town...feeling much like it is...empty...
He would love to...to disappear and leave this world of misery and the continued cycle of death and rebirth...but...
"I...can't..."
The smaller man just nods, eyes understanding and smile gentle as he pulls himself from under the other's arm, "I know...but you do deserve good things in your life...Leon...even if we don't know each that well or too long, I can tell your a good man..."
"Ah, if your trying to butter me up, its not working."
The father just continues his sad smile, "and you are trying to distract me with your awful flirting."
"Awful!"
"Yes, awful, now, come on," pushing past him, now with a little sway to his steps, the merchant begins to head back to his wagon, "and Leon," he pauses, glancing over his shoulder, "my name is Ethan...I hope you remember me."
"Baby, how could I ever forget an ass like that..."
"LEON!"
"Ethan."

Do you plan on making more chapters of Runaway? I recently started reading it and when I saw the end please I love your work.
First of all, apologies for not noticing your question before and thank you I'm glad you like my fic!
And of course! I'm currently rewriting chapter 4, since the process with my beta has been slower than we both would have liked.
But yes I already have the next chapter halfway done and the prequel it's also in the works and almost finished 👀
yeah sorry if it's taking so long in updating hehehe
