Giles x reader - what I should have done
Tumblr media
Part 3:
Giles spent all night awake, every so often checking up on the twins to make sure they were alright.
Early morning came, and it went, and you still weren’t there.
He spent the day with the twins, he told them that you had to go meet a friend of yours, and they seemed happy enough to stay with them.
The following evening came around, and he tucked Gabriel into bed.
“Is mama coming home?” Gabriel mumbled.
Giles smiled, kissing his head.
“She’ll be home soon.”
He got up, going over to Iris and did the same with her, tucking her in and kissing her forehead.
“Sleep well, I love you both.”
He turned the lamp on, and the big light out, closing the door as he left the room.
Giles walked down the stairs, and he walked into the living room to find you sitting on the table, taking your bandanna off your face.
“Bloody hell…” you groaned.
You were covered in dirt, and bloodied, and he rushed over.
Taking your face between his hands he looked at you.
“What happened?”
“Classified Rupert, I’m fine, mission successful.”
He sighed, and look at the cut just above your eyebrow that was still bleeding slightly.
“Wait here.”
He picked up your case, and looked around.
“Under the floorboard, behind the bookcase.”
He nodded, making his way over to hide it, and he pushed the bookcase back on the trapdoor, then walked to the kitchen.
He was gone for maybe a minute, and came back with a bowl and a dishcloth.
He set the bowl next to you, and dabbed the cloth in the water before gently pressing it to your wound.
You hissed a little, pulling away.
“I’m sorry, but we need to clean it, make sure it won’t get infected. I don’t think it’s bad enough to need stitches however.”
You nodded, staying still so he could clean the wound, and he cleaned the rest of your face.
Giles set the cloth down, and he placed his hand on your cheek, rubbing his thumb along a bruise just under your eyes.
His eyes locked with yours, and he smiled softly.
“I’m glad you’re safe.”
You didn’t say anything, and you averted your gaze from him.
“I need to shower.”
“Yes, of.. of course.”
Giles stepped aside to let you go, and he glanced at his watch.
“I’ll wait for you to come back, then I should really be going.”
You said nothing as you went to grab a shower, trying to ease the tense muscles and the slight pain you were feeling.
It worked pretty well, and you got out, throwing some sweatpants on, a sweater and you had the towel around your neck so your still slight damp hair wouldn’t soak the sweater.
Making your way down the stairs, Giles handed you a cup of tea, and you sat on the edge of the couch as you sipped it.
“Will I be seeing you three at the shop tomorrow?” He asked.
“Yeah.”
He nodded, picking up his jacket.
“Right, then I’ll see you then. Goodnight darling.”
He made his way to the door and you watched him.
“You can stay.”
Giles froze in his spot.
“It’s late, not safe to be walking about, you may as well stay, I have a spare room.”
He slowly turned around, to find you looking away, eyes fixed on your TV.
“Are you.. are you sure? I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.”
“I said what I said. I’m not repeating myself.”
Giles hung his jacket up with yours, and he walked over, taking a seat in the arm chair.
“There’s some clothes in the spare room, they belong to Rhodes so they’ll be pretty clean, he’s a clean freak.”
“Thank you.”
You both went quiet, and Giles couldn’t stop himself from glancing over at you every so often.
He had questions running through his head, but he couldn’t stop one of them from coming out, he didn’t even think before he spoke.
“Are you and Rhodes Uhm.. involved?”
You chocked on your drink, hitting your chest a few times.
“What?”
“Well it’s.. it’s just he lives here. And.. and you’re always with him I.. I just thought… not that it’s any of my business! Or.. or that I’m saying you can’t.. as long as you’re happy…”
“You’re right it is none of your business.”
Giles nodded his head, mumbling an apology before turning back to the TV.
“He’s also gay, so unless I’m now suddenly a man, Rhodes has no romantic interest in me, and he’s more of a brother anyway.”
“I.. I see…”
You sighed, setting your cup down.
You brought your hands to to dry your hair and groaned in pain as you felt the pain in your shoulder.
“Here, let me.”
Giles got up, and you moved to sit on the floor so he could sit on the couch behind you, bringing the towel up to gently dry your hair.
You had to admit with yourself that you did miss him still, despite everything and all the pain, you missed how gentle he was.
“Rupert this doesn’t mean we’re going to get back together.”
“I know, I understand that. As long as we can be friends, and I know you’re happy and safe I’m alright with that. All I ever want for you was for you to be happy..” he whispered.
“Is that why you left?”
He sighed, pausing for a moment.
“I left because I thought you would be safer, as a watcher with no slayer I was rather safe, but then I was placed as Buffy’s watched and I knew the things we would be facing. I never wanted to drag you into all of that.”
“You didn’t even give me a choice Rupert, you just left a note and a large cheque, that’s it.”
“I know… but there wasn’t a day that went by that I never thought about you, never regretted what I had done..”
You shook your head.
“That doesn’t make this any better Rupert, I would’ve followed you regardless.”
“I know you would have, that’s what scared me. You wouldn’t have thought twice, and I would much rather know you’re out there somewhere hating me than dead, because at least you would be alive.”
Giles set the towel aside, and he grabbed the hairbrush to begin working the knots from your hair, being ever so gently.
You closed your eyes, relaxing into his touch slightly.
“I made a promise to keep you safe darling, and that’s what I was trying to do. Keep you safe.”
You said nothing and he sighed, moving his hands to your shoulders.
“I never stopped loving you…” he whispered.
You looked at his hand on your shoulder.
Tilting your head back, you looked up at him, and he cradled your face between his hands.
“I want to hate you so much…”
He offered you a small smile.
“I know…”
“Then you do something stupid like this… and it’s.. I hate how it reminds me how much I love you..”
You pushed his hands away and stood up, walking across the room.
“You still love me…?”
“I hate it, I hate myself for still loving you… you’re just… you’re so damn sweet and kind…”
Giles stood up, and he looked at you.
“Do you still love me?”
You refused to meet his gaze.
“I’m going to bed.”
You quickly left the room, heading to your bedroom and you closed the door.
You couldn’t bare the fact that all you wanted to do was grab him and pull him close, kiss him like you hadn’t done before.
You hated every moment of it, hated yourself for it.
Sitting on your bed, you reached around your neck, taking the necklace that still held your engagement ring.
Sometimes your heart could break a thousand times for one person, and you would still love them no matter what.
And that’s the stage you were at, no matter how much you wanted hate his guts, you loved him unconditionally, you loved him to the point it hurt.
You stayed in there as the night went on, unable to sleep, so when you heard movement in the hallway you were immediately on your feet and at the door.
You looked down the hallway to see Giles closing the door to the twins room, and he froze when he saw you.
“Gabriel wanted a drink, he came downstairs. He’s asleep now.”
You nodded and he walked over, standing just in front of you.
“I’ll go first thing in the morning, I shouldn’t have stayed, I’m sorry.”
He saw the ring around your neck, and he reached out, gently touching it.
“You kept it…”
Grabbing his hand, you grabbed his shirt and pulled him down, slamming your lips on to his.
Giles was shocked, and he didn’t know what to do.
You pulled away and looked away, letting go of him.
“Sorry…”
Giles placed a finger on your chin, tilting your head back towards him and he softly kissed your.
You stepped closer, wrapping your arms around his neck while he wrapped his around your waist.
He had been wanting to do this since the moment he laid eyes on you again, kiss you as if the world were going end in a matter of seconds.
He took a few steps back and you followed him, until his back was pressed against the wall opposite your door.
Giles pulled away, desperate for breath, his nose brushing against yours.
He smiled, leaning down to kiss your quickly before pulling away again.
“You’re so beautiful… absolutely stunning…” he whispered.
He reached up to brush some hair from your face.
“What does this mean for us…?” He asked.
“I don’t know…”
He slowly nodded his head, and rested your head on his chest, listening to the sound of his strong heartbeat.
Giles placed his hand on your head, his other arm still wrapped around your waist.
“Whatever you do decide I will back you up completely…”
“Even if it means me deciding to carry on hating you?”
Giles smiled, resting his chin on the top of your head.
“Even if that’s what you want, then that’s okay with me.”
“I.. I don’t know what I want… I want you… but I want to hate you… I want to be with you… but I want to run away…”
“It’s completely up to you…”
You smiled, closing your eyes.
You couldn’t deny the comfort that he brought you, the way you still fit against him so well, as if his arms were made to hold you and only you.
He was ever the gentleman.
Holding you gently in case you wanted to walk away, giving the choice about what you wanted to happen between you.
He always put you first, letting you have the first choice of everything, it was just who he was, your happiness as everything to him.
“I don’t know what I want Rupert…”
“Then take as long as you want to figure it out..”
He kissed your head, and he pulled away.
“I’ll be downstairs if you need anything.”
With that he smiled and walked away, letting your hand fall from his and you sighed.
He was laid on the couch while reading, hand tucked under his head.
You spent a few minutes just pacing, then maybe an hour trying to go to sleep but you couldn’t, your mind was working in overdrive.
You quietly went downstairs, and you walked around the couch to find that he had fallen asleep.
Laughing softly, you took the book from him and set it aside, then you lifted the blanket, tucking yourself between him and the back of the couch.
You placed your head back on his chest, your hand on his shoulder as you closed your eyes, and his arm came around your waist.
You fell asleep pretty quickly, and you half woke up to somebody lifting your arm up and crawling under it.
“Iris…?” You mumbled.
“The bad dreams came back…”
You nodded, placing your hand on her head.
“Go to sleep babygirl, I won’t let them get you.”
She nodded, cuddling into you, and a few minutes later you felt another person come over, wiggling next to you and under your arm.
You moved your hand, placing it around the boy and you sat up, moving them to the other side so they were against the back of the couch, and you were laid on the edge, your head still on Giles’ chest.
He moved a little, moving his arm to pull you closer and hold to the twins at the same time.
“There isn’t enough room for four people on this sofa…” he mumbled out.
“Iris had a nightmare…”
He hummed, and sat up a little making you sit up.
He picked up Iris, and you looked at him.
“Come on darling, you all need a proper bed to sleep in.”
You nodded half asleep, picking up Gabriel and followed him to your room.
Setting the twins down, you laid next to them, and Giles smiled, kiss the three of you on the head and went to walk away but your hand stopped him.
He walked around the bed and laid on the other side of them, his hand still holding yours.
“Go to sleep, I’m not going anywhere…”
You nodded, and drifted back to sleep, and he fell asleep not long later with a smile on his face.
This was all he wanted, ever since the day you agreed to marry him, ever since he saw you again, he wanted to be a family, to love you all the way he should have

The prolific historian and biographer Philip Ziegler, who has died of cancer aged 93, was never less than scrupulously fair – but also honest – about the shortcomings of his subjects, who included some of the most prominent men and, occasionally, women of modern British history.
Lord Mountbatten’s personal vanity, deviousness and ambition, Edward VIII’s meanness and superficiality, even Edward Heath’s charmlessness were all remorselessly revealed, even though they amounted to official biographies and are books that have shaped the men’s reputations for posterity.
“The biographer’s first responsibility is to the truth and to the reader. If he is not prepared in the last resort to hurt and offend people for whom he feels nothing except goodwill then he should not be writing a biography,” Ziegler said in 2011.
The foibles of Mountbatten, the last viceroy of India before independence, were such that Ziegler wrote a note on his desk while writing the biography in the mid-1980s stating: “Remember, in spite of everything, he was a great man.” That is not necessarily the view any longer of many British and Indian historians, though it is hard to overlook Mountbatten’s significance to the modern subcontinent and his relatives in the Royal family.
If Ziegler’s patrician, establishment status and urbane charm helped to smooth his path to selection for such monumental biographies, his industry and the punctiliousness of his research meant that they come close to definitive. He said: “Ideally the biographer should know everything about his subject and then discard 99% of his information, keeping only the essential. Of course one can never hope to discover anything approaching everything, but one can find out a great deal.”
Ziegler was born in Ringwood, in the New Forest, to Dora (nee Barnwell) and Louis Ziegler, a retired army major. He was educated at Eton college and then studied law at New College, Oxford, graduating with a first. After national service with the Royal Artillery, he entered the Foreign Office, serving as a diplomat in Laos, Paris and Pretoria.
In 1966, with his wife Sarah (nee Collins), whom he had married in 1960, and two small children, he was posted to Bogotá, Colombia, as head of chancery at the British embassy. It was there the following year that, returning home from an embassy reception, he and his wife found armed robbers rifling the house. Sarah was killed in the melee and he was badly wounded.
The tragedy persuaded him to leave the diplomatic service and take a job with Sarah’s publisher father, William Collins, then the head of one of the largest publishing houses in the country. Ziegler became editorial director in 1972 and editor-in-chief of the company seven years later. He had already published two books, a biography of the Duchess of Dino, mistress of the wily French diplomat Talleyrand, in 1962, and one of the Georgian prime minister Henry Addington (later the reactionary home secretary Viscount Sidmouth) in 1965. A book about the Black Death followed in 1969, though that was to be his only venture into pre-modern history, and one on the battle of Omdurman (1973), as well as biographies of William IV (1971) and the Victorian prime minister Lord Melbourne (1976).
In 1980, Ziegler became a full-time writer, and a regular and eclectic stream of books followed: biographies of the 1920s’ society beauty Lady Diana Cooper (1981), Harold Wilson (1993), the minor poet Osbert Sitwell (1998), the publisher Rupert Hart-Davis (2005) and the actor Laurence Olivier (2013), as well as Heath (2010), Mountbatten (1985) and Edward VIII (1990), and a short biography of George VI (2014). There were also histories of Barings Bank (1988), London during the second world war (1995), the Rhodes Trust in Oxford (2008) and Brooks’s gentlemen’s club (1991). Not forgetting, Elizabeth’s Britain 1926 to 1986 and a book of photographic portraits of the Queen (2010).
All were assiduously researched. Given access to the royal archives, Ziegler ploughed through 25,000 letters of Edward VIII, revealing the shallowness of the king who abdicated and, allegedly to her displeasure, the Queen Mother’s relentless hostility towards him. His verdict that Edward was well meaning and that no monarch could have been more anxious to relieve the sufferings of his subjects though “few can have done less to achieve their aim”, was suitably waspish.
The biography of Mountbatten, for which he was chosen by the Broadlands trustees, custodians of his legacy, was followed by three volumes of the admiral’s diaries. The biography of Heath was also both official and comprehensive, but struggled to find the man’s elusive charm.
Of the Olivier biography, he told an interviewer at the Cheltenham literary festival in 2013: “In the course of my alarmingly long biographical career I have written about an inordinate number of prime ministers, kings and the like and I suddenly decided in old age that I would indulge myself and do myself an actor.” What he found to his alarm that there was very little substance beneath the parts the great actor played.
Following the death of his first wife, Ziegler married Clare Charrington, a social worker and bereavement counsellor, in 1971. She died in 2017. He is survived by the two children of his first marriage, Sophie and Colin, and by the son of his second, Toby.
🔔 Philip Sandeman Ziegler, biographer and historian, born 24 December 1929; died 22 February 2023

What's an AU that would be interesting to explore with your OC?
Abbie would love to invite Equinox to perform at the Rhodes Theater because she can’t just do an AU; she needs a crossover of an AU of a crossover AU.
How does your OC behave when enraged?
Connie is innovative and relentless in her attempts to make things right. If something has upset her sensibilities, that something will get out of her way or be moved out of her way by force.
Does your OC have a tendency to get jealous? If so, how does this manifest?
Jealously? In the Pendleton Family? It manifests in every way possible. Even the chess match between Rupert and Libby was a near-death experience. The only Pendleton who is not outrageously jealous is BP2, my lovely little Brad.
Does your OC have any illnesses or disorders? How do they handle it?
The first to come to mind are Sage and Abbie’s struggles with OCD and ED (the other one, not erectile dysfunction) though Abbie needs to spend less time around absolute boners.
Reid is a ball of anxiety.
The Gerards may have some symptoms of BPD, but no more than the average house cat.
Within the Pendleton Family: Bradford is a compulsive liar. Libby has anger issues. Trip is a punk bitch (undiagnosed) Brady is depressed.

You must have a fully complete profile in order to be reviewed for acceptance. Post the link to your profile in our Discord when it’s ready to be reviewed!
OVERVIEW:
For full name, please put your character’s first, middle, and last name – if they have one. (Ex. James Rupert Rhodes)
For known as, please put your character’s hero/villain name; or for civilians, put their nickname.
If your character does not have an official job title, feel free to make one up! (Ex. Professional Vigilante, Protector of the Universe, etc) If nothing fits, you can put: unemployed.
Fill in your face claim, and they will automatically be reserved for five days. Once you’re accepted, the face will automatically be claimed to your character. If you do not finish your profile within five days, your face claim will be up for grabs. (Need an extension? Ask a staff member!)
ABILITIES:
The abilities section must be filled out if your character is a mutant, enhanced, has superpowers and/or extraordinary skills and talents.
For example, a character like Tony Stark has no superhuman abilities by himself; however, he has extraordinary skills in his genius and his creation of the Iron Man suits – which give him superhuman ability. Therefore, his abilities section would explain that.
If your character has nothing noteworthy to mention, you can leave the abilities section blank in your settings and it will disappear from your character’s profile.
FREEFORM:
Feel free to be creative with your character’s freeform! It does not need to be a long exposition of your character’s background, but rather, anything you feel gives us a good idea of who your character is.
We have a simple two-paragraph minimum for the freeform. You can go beyond that if you wish!
If your freeform includes triggering content, please include our warning tag that outlines the content at the very top.
SHIPPER:
The shipper section is so other players know how to plot with you! Here, you’ll explain what and who your character is looking for in terms of platonic and romantic relationships. You can also add other types such as: antagonistic, familial, professional, and plot hooks to jump-start plotting.
ACCEPTANCE:
Upon acceptance on Revival, we ask that you fill out our member directory. This includes a space for a blurb about you and tidbits of information about your character/s and will be posted in the member database sub-forum of the directory.

Okay this is actually pissing me off so let’s have a chat about the internet and specifically Americans on it
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. A city I grew up not far from at all, about an hour’s drive. It’s the third-largest metropolitan area in Canada and has the highest population density in the country, as well as the fourth-highest in North America. It’s the largest city in British Columbia. As of 2021 it’s home to 662,248 people. It’s known as “Hollywood North” due to its huge involvement in the North American film industry, and is well-known even among the most prolific names in the business. Vancouver has played other cities countless times in movies. It’s one of the most expensive places to live on the planet.
Vancouver, Washington, USA is a suburb in Portland. While also quite large and fairly populous, it has about a sixth of the population of its namesake to the north. Its economy is based around trade with Portland. Historically it relied heavily on the fur trade, specifically the Hudson’s Bay Company, which had swallowed a massive chunk of land around the titular Hudson’s Bay known as Rupert’s Land. The HBC exists today as an American-owned Canadian chain department store, and is one of the oldest companies in the continent that’s still operating.
Now. This is neither a history lesson nor an expression of nationalistic or patriotic fervour. I didn’t even get into the fucked up pasts surrounding the HBC and the gold rush that brought everyone over to set up Fort Vancouver in the first place. I’m pointing out that of the two cities, it’s fairly obvious which one people usually talk about. And the confusion isn’t bad, but it allows me to point out an inherent problem.
Americans continually forget that Canada exists, except to laugh at our PM when he does something they think is suitably appalling. People who aren’t American, ESPECIALLY on the internet, are expected to know everything about American politics, and geography, and culture, and Americans love assuming that everyone is also American (or if you spell words with extra “u”s, you’re British).
I’m supposed to know shit about Ohio and Tennessee and Rhode Island when 90% of people on this website couldn’t tell me how many provinces we have or what our capital is. Most CANADIANS know more about America than we know about ourselves, and that ignorance can be dangerous when it comes to election season.
The expectation that if you’re not from the US, you need to shut up and cater to those who are, to bend over backwards to not confuse them or alienate them, to push yourself out of the equation to let them in. And if you’re American, fuck if you need to give a shit about all these little countries who don’t even have nukes.
To be clear, Canada as a nation kisses America’s ass CONSTANTLY. We have to. They’re our biggest trade partner. If we fuck up IR there’s not much we can do.
But we are on the internet. We do get wifi in our backwaters that apparently nobody needs to think about.
Just remember that not everyone online is American, and you’re allowed to pull your head out of your ass and think about other people sometimes. Not sure how we get overlooked so much, we’re pretty big on the fucking map.

1900 words today -- adding in a number of bits and pieces to Horizon 8 (which I guess I can either break ~pattern and post on a weekday or wait until next weekend; we’ll see how I feel tomorrow) and starting Horizon 9.  I do know how this story is going to end so I’d better figure out how much longer i have to get there.  (I don’t think it’ll go past fifteen chapters.)
Snippet from The Horizon Line chapter 9.
Getting into Howard Stark’s workshop wasn’t as easy as unlocking the door with a key.  Rhodey ran his hand over the molding on the door, frowning, and said, “There should be – got it.”
Light flickered under his palm and a pleasant female voice with a Hungarian accent said, “Mr. Stark is not available just now.  Please identify yourselves.”
“James Rupert Rhodes, United States Air Force, Avengers Initiative,” Rhodey said.  “Hello, LOTTE.”
“Hello, Captain Rhodes.”
“Been a minute since I had to deal with her,” he explained when Natasha raised her eyebrows, surprised by his apparent demotion.
She shrugged in response and said, “Natalia Alianovna Romanoff, Avengers Initiative,” hesitating for an instant before adding, “On behalf of Steven Grant Rogers, United States Army, Avengers Initiative.”
“Virginia Anne Potts Stark, Chief Executive Officer, Stark Industries,” Pepper said; apparently Natasha didn’t rate a response.
“Hello, Ms. Potts,” the voice said. “Please hold while I cross-check that information.”
“LOTTE’s basically JARVIS and FRIDAY’s great-great-grandma,” Rhodey explained. “She’s outdated tech now, but she’s still installed at a couple of the old Stark properties where Tony never got around to ripping her out and upgrading to JARVIS.”
“Aren’t we a little past her end date?” Natasha asked.
“She has access to certain SI servers and some of FRIDAY’s data,” Pepper said. “We don’t run into her that often anymore, but after the first few incidents, Tony made sure that she had up to date information.  Howard Stark may have been dead for twenty-seven years, but apparently he didn’t believe in underkill.”
“You know, this is actually not the first time this week I’ve heard that,” Natasha said.

Post-AGT Appearance 1234: The Late Show with Stephen Colbert January 12
Side order of Love would have dropped out of the top 100 last weekend.
Former Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Almond died January 3.  I don’t think I ever posted any Lincoln Almond jokes, but I would have said them often in 2014 and 2015 when most local appearances would have been in New England clubs.  “Lincoln Almond was one of many nuts who has been Governor.”  I would have had some fun with Abraham Lincoln singing Allman Bros. lyrics.  Despite that, no one would have wagered that he was the last name on Phillip’s list.  Jeff Beck would have been in the top 100 briefly in 2016 and again in 2019, peaking at 98 both times.  I would not reply in any way to complaints about my post on Pope Benedict.
Paul Pelosi would not have been attacked, so Nancy Pelosi would again be chosen as Democratic leader.  Republicans would control the House of Representatives 232-202, so Kevin McCarthy would have been elected Speaker on the first ballot, with exactly 218 votes.  Republicans would control the Senate 53-45-2.
I would have been still quite unhealthy when I left Trinidad and settled in my Idaho home as the place where I could most quickly improve.  I would be most unhappy having to travel back east just to make Colbert happy.  They would put me in the final 2 segments of the show tonight.
Colbert: Welcome back.  Our next guest tonight has been on the show several times.  He is a master of education, entertainment, comedy, music and cinema.  He wrote that introduction himself.  As he often does, he’ll be making a big announcement.  Please welcome Phillip and Cole’s Variety Team,
(They would play Cesspool of Love while an attendant wheeled me out in a reclined wheelchair.)
Colbert: How are you feeling?
PBC: Not as bad as it looks, but we don’t want to take any...cough...cough...chances.
Colbert: Can you stand up?
PBC: Yes, but it’s not easy these days.
Colbert: Not covid, is it?
PBC: No, just the usual sinus trouble, plus weak lungs and wobbly legs.
Colbert: I see you’re wearing a mask.
PBC: Designer Shaco mask; I wear one everywhere.
Colbert: Very well.  I understand you had a successful tour.
PBC: Yes, and we won’t be doing another one like that.
Colbert: And it was the farewell tour for the ranting 108-Year-Old Man.
PBC: Yes, he’s in a nursing home in Idaho now.  He’s...no sicker than a year ago, but wants to get used to it before he needs it.
Colbert: Always planning ahead.  Well, when you visit our show you always eliminate one suspect from the list of last celebrity that makes Phillip sick.
PBC: Yes.
Colbert: A few people have eliminated themselves since you were last here.
PBC: That’s true.
Colbert: I don’t know if you heard about the latest: Jeff Beck.
PBC: It’s not him.  In fact...if I was healthier, I could poll the team to see which of them even heard of Jeff Beck.
Colbert: Which do you think?
PBC: Did he own a beer company?
Colbert: Not Beck’s Beer, no, ha ha.
PBC: That leaves out Cole and Brad.
Colbert: Ha ha ha ha ha.
PBC: Did he get arrested a lot?
Colbert: I don’t think so, no.
PBC: Then Ford wouldn’t know about him.  Where’s he from.
Colbert: He was English, the guitarist for the Yardbirds.
PBC: There were women in the group.
Colbert: No, it’s a guy band.
PBC: They call women birds, don’t they.  Anyway maybe Rupert knows who he is.  He’s back in England now anyway so who cares.
Colbert: Alright, now you’re here to eliminate one of the top 10.  Hot off the press, let’s show everyone the latest update on the top 10 suspects.  The top has the usual 3: Nancy Pelosi, Jane Fonda and Hillary Clinton.  At number 9 and 10 we have some fresh blood.  King Charles III of Great Britain is ninth and at number 10, returning to the top 10 after an absence of almost 4 years: Madonna.  Do you have any reaction to the changes on the list?
PBC: No, after all, 10 is not a big deal.  Who’s 11th?
Colbert: Um...George Soros.
PBC: See what I mean?  Good guesses all.
Colbert: So...which one are you going to eliminate tonight?
PBC: Well, this time we want to do it differently.  On past occasions we had every available team member say why they don’t like the person even though he or she was not the last name.
Colbert: Right.
PBC: There is at least one name in the top 10 that at least one member of our team is fond of...cough...cough.
Colbert: Really?
PBC: Yes, so that team member is going to tell you why he likes that suspect.
Colbert: Will it be funny?
PBC: It’s Norbert, so...who knows?
Colbert: Ha ha ha.  So which suspect is he going to eliminate?
PBC: Jane Fonda.
Colbert: Wow!  Stay tuned folks, after the break Norbert Adams tells you why he likes Jane Fonda!

The Day of High Romance

Astrology is the psychology of the Universe
Advice...
Keep to your path and move steadily forward.
Learn to deal with distractions; don’t get sidetracked.
Use your wisdom to help yourself as well as others.
Experiences are not only to be lived but learned from as well; beware of getting stuck.
For those born on October 8, life is a fabulous romantic adventure. They will give all for love, elevating it to a high plane, or they will have none of it. But it is not only the area of love to which their romantic feelings apply. Their souls can soar from the wonders of nature to the mysteries of outer space, from the movements of the sea to the rotation of the planets themselves. Those born on this day often have well-developed intellects also, and are particularly sharp in their perceptions of human psychology. Yet many October 8 people have little insight into their own personality. As they see it, they are simply attending to business, efficiently acting on what they have to do, while others stare in open-eyed amazement at their unusual antics.
Within their family or social group those born on this day are usually free spirits. For this reason, their common sense and judgment are not always trusted, particularly by those who think of themselves as highly practical. Yet October 8 people are good with money, able to run a family, responsible and conscientious in discharging their obligations—up to a point! For always the danger is present that they will be swept away to other worlds, sailing off into the beyond. Their experiential attitude to life recognizes few limitations and boundaries, and therefore they can get caught up in sheer sensationalism in a thirst for excitement.
It is not surprising that October 8 people can get themselves into all kinds of trouble, particularly in the emotional sphere. Their relationships are not only complex but also occasionally hazardous. They have a habit of getting involved with all manner of strange and sometimes questionable characters, but also, paradoxically, with people who are too nice and prove to be not at all right for them. Their interest in unusual people and fateful, even bizarre circumstances makes them prey to those who attempt to use them for selfish purposes.
Yet somehow these brilliant October 8 butterflies always manage to escape their would-be captors and fly to yet another beautiful flower. They are deeply affected by their experiences, particularly feeling the grief and pain caused by separation from a loved one, but they are also indestructible, perhaps because of their ability to key in to the essence of things, to confront (or be forced to confront) them and emerge a wiser person. Thus those born on this day may read and think a great deal (and often do) but ultimately their wisdom is derived from life experience, which they value more highly than anything else.
October 8 people must never lose a sense of their origins. There is a definite danger of power-tripping attendant to this day, of either being carried away by authority or being tempted to climb social ladders that only lead to unhappiness. The happiness and stability of October 8 people is directly proportional to their ability to remain centered in their true self. Whatever dragons or monsters they encounter will have to be overcome, or perhaps transformed into companions and guides.
Health...
Those born on October 8 will not have so many problems with their physical health as with their psychological health, particularly in relation to their emotional experiences. They are particularly prone to depression, and find it difficult to deal with grief, either attempting to ignore it or, conversely, allowing it to dominate their life. October 8 people are extremely complex emotionally, and therefore may find that psychological counseling can be helpful in keeping them on track. Aesthetic forms of physical exercise, particularly dancing, are recommended for October 8 people. Those born on this day must not put too much faith in extreme or unusual diets and instead should ground themselves with earthy foods such as grains, bread, stews and root vegetables.
Numerology...
Those born on the 8th of the month are ruled by the number 8 and by the planet Saturn. Since Saturn carries a strong feeling of responsibility and an accompanying tendency toward caution, limitation and fatalism, the combined influence of this planet and Venus (Libra’s ruler) can trigger an October 8 person’s darker, more depressed and discontented feelings toward relationships. Those ruled by the number 8 generally build their lives and careers slowly and carefully. Although they are most often quite warmhearted, those ruled by the number 8 can present a cool or detached exterior. Sometimes a Saturn-Venus connection can indicate childhood difficulties with the parent of the opposite sex.
Archetype...
The 8th card of the Major Arcana is Strength or Courage, which depicts a graceful queen taming a furious lion. The queen symbolizes the female Magician who can master rebellious energies and stands for moral as well as physical strength. This card’s positive attributes include charisma and determination to succeed; the negative qualities include complacency and the misuse of power.
The Week of Society
Traits of this week...

SELF‑DECEIVING
Advice...
Try to find your true heart’s desire.
Once you have found it, remember to show you really care.
Don’t always give things away—hold on to what is most valuable in yourself.
Learn to limit your explorations of interesting but distracting subjects that can sidetrack you from your main purpose.
Make some hard choices, but preserve your dreams and visions.
Personality of this week...
The paradox about those born during the Week of Society is that although their social skills are highly developed, they may really be loners by nature. Their knowledge of current events, fashions and matters concerning lifestyle is impressive, and family and friends usually consult them as to the choice of materials or methods to get the job done in the most tasteful way possible. Constantly in demand, they often have difficulty finding time for themselves, and at some point must learn how to limit the time and energy they are prepared to give.
Generally well liked as people, they are also highly sought after as confidants and counselors. They inspire trust in those who are meeting them for the first time. Their nonthreatening approach makes other people quickly feel that they have nothing to fear—they can open their hearts and unburden themselves. Indeed these people rarely behave hurtfully or maliciously toward those who confide in them. Those who seek them out feel safe with them.
Although fair, just and agreeable in most situations, they can also be extremely sharp and critical. Because their insights are so often right on, their barbs can sting. Associates and employers who listen to them can probably learn something, but the fury of their attack often arouses too much negative emotion in the assaulted party to allow for clear listening. Only later will the truth of their criticisms begin to sink in.
These children can be demanding of their parents, and these parents can be strict with their children. When young, they may be extremely rebellious or at the very least troublesome to those in authority. They are guided by a sense of fairness but also by an extreme antipathy to stupid, harmful and needless regulations and laws. Too often these young persons may see the harm or waste being caused by a social or parental attitude yet feel helpless to do much about it. As they grow up, they may become crusaders or reformers, but they can just as easily turn into quiet observers who watch and listen but only offer their opinions and judgments when asked to do so.
Emotional instability may be the single biggest problem they face. It can undermine their relationships, making them prone to jealousy, irritation, possessiveness and all sorts of negative emotions they could really do without. Physical problems and even lifelong disabilities can result. Involvement in some form of spiritual, religious or physical training is often essential, to provide the stability and grounding that they require if they are to keep on an even keel.
There is too often a glaring discrepancy between what they think they want and what they truly need. They may blunt their own desires by not taking them seriously. Thus, through their own insistence that they don’t need something, they can stunt the development of their will. Any resulting confusion, unhappiness or despair may serve them well, if they can take advantage of it. Through depression, they can get in touch with themselves at a deep level and, stripped of externals, will find out what their deepest needs really are.
An ever-present danger for these imaginative individuals is that they will come to live too much in a fantasy world in which all things are possible. Through complacency, and narcissistic enjoyment, they can fail to take action. This lack of aggression may affect their professional life. Worldly ambition can be very healthy for them, since it can spur them on to be more assertive, and to demand from the world what they really want. The problems here are they aren’t always sure what their true wishes are, and they are too often satisfied with what they have and indecisive in charting out a realistic course of action.
These people are highly valued by their friends, not least for their light and fun-loving manner. They are often good conversationalists, and even the most shy of these blossoms in activities involving a small group of companions, such as parties, dinners or outings. They are highly responsible in such surroundings, and may be depended upon to make a contribution. Yet as aware and realistic as they are about other people, to the same or a greater degree they can be unrealistic about themselves. It may be an unfortunate trait of these people to pull the wool over their own eyes. Such self-deception can lead to disastrous choices of partner, and also to professional blunders. Simply put: without a clear view of themselves, they cannot make cogent personal choices, and are constantly landing themselves in trouble. Fortunately, they are highly resilient. Still, they must not take their ability to snap back from injury or defeat for granted, or rely on it unduly.
During rocky periods in their personal relationships, those born during the Week of Society tend to be more hurtful toward themselves than to the other person. This is a sign less of masochistic tendencies than of low self-esteem, and of a habit of putting the needs and wants of a lover or friend before their own. Their difficulty in expressing anger and aggression leads them to blame themselves when things go wrong. They may consequently sink into a quiet depression, tumbling into a well of loneliness from which it may be extremely difficult for them to climb out.

WORK & PLAY
Personality of this way...
Those born during the Way of Wonder must let go of their exacting attitudes in order to approach life in a more open, relaxed manner, one that is defined by a childlike sense of awe at or delight in the world. They must learn to cultivate and experience wonder. This requires releasing an overemphasis on the details of life and a propensity to perfectionism in order to achieve a broader view. By being less critical and focused and by extending their vision behind the mundane, they will significantly enhance the quality of their lives and will become imbued with a sense of wonder as they get into touch with the larger forces at work in the universe. Awe is the natural byproduct of such a process. Fairly cool customers emotionally, they will usually need to become more familiar with their own feelings in order to become more spontaneous and fun. Play is the simple key for them, as well as their core lesson. It is best for them to slow down by putting the brakes on a bit and regularly taking the time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures.
These folks are born with a desire for order. They need to arrange their world in a fashion that feels right to them. Naturally, this requires quite a bit of management and organization. Their minds are taken up with all the little details of any situation or issue and with thoughts of how best to arrange them so that they form more beautiful or perfect relationships to one another. Efficiency is their goal. As useful as this tendency may be, as anyone who has too much to do or worry about can attest, at a certain point the sheer volume of decisions required by such an exacting approach can be overwhelming. Stressed out, they forget to see the bigger picture, to engage more openly or fully in the experience of living, or even to enjoy the end result of their labors. Sometimes they are so overinvolved in setting the details of their lives in the right order that nothing is good enough for them, causing them perpetual frustration and irritation.
Their core lesson is quite simple: to nourish the child within through play. Teaching themselves how to engage in play and making sure that they give themselves enough playtime will help they to cultivate a sense of wonder. Through play, they will forget to focus on everything they think needs to be done and begin to relax and allow things to go as they will. Of course, bills must be paid, daily tasks attended to, and provisions made for the future, but there is no reason why one cannot forget about work or chores for a while. They will discover that stress is largely something that they inflict upon themselves and that when they are able to put things out of their mind long enough to enjoy themselves, their general health and well-being improve dramatically.
Almost always, they force themselves to assume a mature or overly responsible role. Often they are hard on themselves for not being perfect enough. Rarely satisfied, they drive themselves on toward greater and greater achievement in all areas of their life. Frequently, such a stance echoes an overly strict or critical parent or other authority figure from childhood. An underlying dynamic here is that they have a tendency to repress their feelings. Somewhere in the distant past, they decided that mastering emotion was a high priority. This, combined with a dislike of anything that smacks of emotional messiness and a love of an efficient and wellordered world, makes for people who are quite good at denying, stuffing, and blocking their feelings. They appear to be quite cool, even unemotional, but in fact they are quite complex on a feeling level. Developing any sort of spontaneity means that they must engage in the work of unlocking their emotional expression. While letting their real emotions out of the proverbial box may be fearful for them, ultimately they will discover how to balance feeling and rationality, contraction and expansion, expression and reticence. The child in them and its sense of wonder will begin to peek out and be heard only when their internal, and often critical, parent stops being so repressive. Moreover, they may find, as they rediscover their feelings, a kind of warmth and charm they never knew existed. They will know they are doing something right when they start to notice how many people seem to be attracted to them.
These are intense personalities, uniquely suited for tremendous achievements as long as they transform themselves into motivators rather than detractors of others. It is extremely unlikely that they will give up their discrimination or exacting tastes, but they must learn to keep them in balance with the rest of their personality and not allow them to dominate. Unusually critical people, they have a tendency to nitpick, be negative, or criticize others too severely based on their own high standards. They will always employ those standards to achieve the best results for their own and others’ efforts, but when it comes to motivating others, learning to focus on the good and to ignore the lessthanperfect side of things (even though they will always see it pretty clearly) will reap them rich rewards in any field of endeavor. Relenting in this approach and becoming more accepting and forgiving will occur naturally as they begin to relax and have more fun. Also, an important part of this process is that, following the development of a greater sense of wonder themselves, they will find that they are able to infect others with it. Moreover, they are possessed of a fierce, quick wit; once they learn to use it less to wound or to be critical and more simply to entertain, they will find that it is inordinately powerful as a form of engaging and charming people. Thus, they will be able to inspire others to great creative achievement.
Their issues are likely to be worked out on an internal or psychological level. Working on patterns in thinking and relating will be their main objective. Learning how to relax and drop one’s critical attitudes is not as easy as it sounds. The best approach is to attune oneself to the natural flow of things, letting things happen rather than attempting to make them happen. Since relaxation is so important here, they should spoil themselves more, particularly in the form of treating themselves to certain activities that will inevitably lead to removing tensions. Learning to enjoy themselves fully, without any feelings of guilt, is crucial to this process. Also, paying more attention to sleeping, eating, sex, and other natural functions will give their unconscious self more autonomy and free them from many strangling inhibitions.
What a relief it can be for them at last to back off from workaholic tendencies. Suddenly having more time on their hands and less work can lead them to make new friends and seek out whole new worlds of experience. In general, deemphasis on career and a focus on increasing interpersonal involvements are hallmarks of progress for them. Finding the right partner, or partners, will aid the process tremendously, and the joys of vacation, travel, affection, lovemaking, and in general just kicking back will steer these intense individuals in a sensibly hedonistic direction. If they have children of their own, they will vicariously rediscover the joys of childhood through their own progeny. Also, having children provides them with a chance to become the loving, nonjudgmental parents that their own stern mother or father could never be. Attracting more free and open friends can exert a positive influence by fostering more fun-loving attitudes.
What is best for those born during the Way of Wonder is to put aside more serious, intellectual, or demanding hobbies such as reading and discussion in favor of less cerebral and more active ones such as sports, dance, hiking, or biking. All outdoor activities should be pursued, since it is outdoors that a sense of wonder is truly fostered. Through really learning to enjoy themselves, even being silly and irresponsible from time to time, they will get into the habit of forgetting to be demanding and critical. Strange to say, for these people, who typically find it hard to reward themselves except with more hard work and responsibility, even the untrammeled pleasure of getting lost in the thorough enjoyment of a chocolate bar or a cartoon can represent a major spiritual breakthrough. Their fulfillment can be likened to a student’s playing hooky from school. Removing himself from the reach of a critical or repressive teacher, he spends time on his own and simply indulges himself in the joy of a beautiful spring day.

OPERATING FROM THEIR LIGHT, FUN-LOVING SIDE MORE OFTEN

TAKING THEIR OWN NEEDS AND DESIRES MORE SERIOUSLY
Personality of this configuration...
Paramount to the success of those born during the Week of Society who navigate the Way of Wonder will be learning to take their own desires and needs more seriously and not trying to quell their sense of passion or enthusiasm in endless responsibilities, unproductive relationships, or trying to reform others. Going within in order to get reacquainted with the child who dwells in all of us may prove quite an education for these souls, especially if it frees them from the rigid or overly exacting standards they have most certainly outgrown. Likely to be rather sharp-tongued and insightful, they would do well to keep their critical faculties under control and turn their attention to the task of developing a clearer vision of themselves and their place in the larger scheme. Thus, freed from self-deception, they can experience great happiness on this life journey.

The Month of the Magnet is the seventh month of the Personology year. As perhaps the most socially involved of all the months, those born during this time symbolize the need of the mature human being to take their place in the world. Moreover, these people posit a full awareness of the roles which people play on the world’s stage.
These people emphasize the need for attractiveness in their external orientation. Indeed, for them, looking good can go very far, sometimes resulting in being liked by others; however, they can also be criticized or even rejected for their vanity. They believe in fair treatment for all, but at times can be overly judgmental. Their sensuousness, charm, grace and good humor exert a magnetic effect in drawing others to them.
Those born during the Month of the Magnet transmute service-oriented, discriminating and analytical energies into fixed, powerful and controlling ones.
Their personality can be compared to a mature adult passing through their mid-life period and endeavoring to formulate a modus vivendi for the second half of their life. Inevitably, this involves redefining social roles by reconsidering the way one relates to others. Attractive individuals, they have beauty-loving and social aspects to their personality, as well as a need for harmony. Paradoxically, despite the fact that they love things to go smoothly with few problems, they can stir up a great deal of argument through their controversial attitudes and behavior. Although generous, they can sometimes be blind to the wishes of others and proceed (either merrily or miserably) on their own way.
Because of their need to see both sides of a problem, indeed to examine every aspect of it, they are capable of procrastinating. They stubbornly refuse to be rushed in making up their minds about most anything. These people demand adequate breathing space and tend to get nervous if crowded or pressured. They are quite capable, however, of applying pressure to others, particularly if they feel they are acting in everyone’s best interest.
Because of their attractiveness and personal magnetism, those born during the Month of the Magnet are often highly prized as mates and co-workers. However, they must beware of imposing their strong views on others. They are at their best when they can keep it light and have fun—particularly since depression is difficult for them to cope with. Being attractive is extremely important, but they must beware of becoming obsessed with physical appearances. If they go too far in this regard they may compromise their dignity.
Another high priority for them is fairness, but in their quest for equality they must seek the middle way, thus avoiding the twin pitfalls of overly accepting or judgmental behavior.

Personality of this season...
The fall equinox usually occurs around September 23rd in the northern hemisphere. At this time of harvest, days and nights are again of equal length. As fall wears on, however, the days grow shorter and the nights longer. Fall is the third quarter of the yearly cycle, extending from the fall equinox to the winter solstice.
Fall is traditionally the period at which time the final harvest of summer growth takes place—afterwards, much of the ground is covered by leaves or mulch for the winter. A decomposition of plant life now begins by which the earth is enriched. Most of the farmland lies fallow during this period but some winter crops can be planted. Temperatures begin to drop as the sun shares less of itself, and freezing nights are evinced by morning frost. Some animal life goes into hibernation or migrates to a warmer climate. Deciduous trees change color in riotous displays, and an autumn nip is in the air. The rhythm of life of this quadrant is quicker and more survival-oriented. High-energy or bulk diets are preferred here (both by animals and humans). The bounty of foodstuffs is waning, and life again becomes more difficult.
Generally speaking, those born in the fall demonstrate both a greater ability and need to control their external environment. Autumnal people are rarely as enthusiastic as those born in the spring and summer, being rather more selective and critical. Maintenance is the overriding consideration here rather than initiation or development of new projects. In some respects, autumnal people tend to be more introverted and thoughtful than springtime and summertime people. Feelings are kept under stricter control. Yet, social urges are more maturely and fully expressed here also—friendships, group and community activities, direct working contributions to society are important at this time. Autumnal people manifest a strong urge to share and take part in serious and fulfilling relationships.
Those born in the fall have a heightened awareness of what is going on around them, perhaps greater than that of any other seasonal group. Impulse and emotion may be lower key in autumnal people, but often more subtle and complex. Both self–understanding and self–control are given high priority.
Autumnal folks tend to be more concerned with nurturing ideas and with survival than with bringing new life into the world. Childbearing and childrearing generally speaking may not hold as central a place for autumnal people as for those born at other times of the year. Sexuality and affection, on the other hand, may hold a deeper meaning and be highly valued by autumnal people. Rather than being positive per se, the attitude of those born in this period is realistic, and positive only when justified by the course of external events.

I Like to Watch | Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
by Don Hall
No one really flinched when Tony Stark's wingman, Colonel James Rupert "Rhodey" Rhodes, went from Terrence Howard to Don Cheadle. Sure, it was a bit jarring but Iron Man 2 just glossed over the difference as if most couldn't tell the difference from one black actor to the next. I mean, it wasn't like Howard died. He just wanted fair compensation and the powers that be decided to replace him instead of pay him. Such is Hollywood (and I'd hazard a guess more likely Hollywood for black people than for others). We took it in stride and did our best to enjoy a sub-par Marvel sequel.
If Howard had died? There may have been a bit more responsibility on the creative team to deal with that absence in a less blunt manner. You can't just replace an actor who is deceased, right?
Wrong.
In 1955, Ed Wood Jr. tried to revive the career of one of his heroes, Bela Lugosi of Dracula fame, and cast him in Plan 9 From Outer Space. Lugosi, in the middle of filming, died from cardiac arrest. Wood had an obvious dilemma to solve and solve it he did. He replaced Lugosi in the remaining scenes with his wife's chiropractor who looked nothing like Lugosi. Plan 9 was a bomb but now enjoys a ridiculous cult status. Lugosi was buried in his Dracula costume and the whole episode was then chronicled in the 1994 Tim Burton film Ed Wood.
Paul Walker was one half of the Fast & Furious franchise with creator Vin Diesel until in 2013 during the filming of the seventh installment he died in a Porsche accident. Diesel decided to finish filming with Walker's brothers acting as stand-ins with CGI and let the film serve as a truly moving send-off for Walker. We all knew he had died but the final shots of the film became a cinematic obituary. As a fan of the series, I cried.
When Chadwick Boseman died in 2020 from colon cancer, writer/director Ryan Coogler had, arguably, one of the most difficult tasks along these lines that any director has had. Boseman first and foremost was a fantastic, award-winning actor. Second, as T'Challa (aka The Black Panther) he had heralded in one of the most culturally significant films in generations, bringing millions of black audience members to come see a fully black Marvel blockbuster. T'Challa was the first superhero to come to Steve Rogers aid in Endgame. He was debatably the best part of the What If? series. Coogler couldn't replace Boseman with anyone (let alone a chiropractor) and he couldn't CGI him like Carrie Fisher at the end of Rogue One. Yet a sequel to Black Panther was inevitable.
It's no secret that I've not been thrilled with the last few MCU offerings. Hell, I hated Thor: Love and Thunder and, to be fair to that movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has made me hate Taika Waititi's nose-thumb of a movie even more. Wakanda Forever is a tour de force, an example of how an MCU movie should be made, and extraordinary achievement created under extraordinary circumstances. Wakanda Forever is the result of a film that is important to those who made it, important to those who see it, and far more than the money generated by the box office receipts.
This is a film that deals with genuine grief in a thoroughly entertaining way. Like Kilmonger, Namor is a villain who does awful things for good reasons. Like the audience who loved the first film, each character deals with the loss of Boseman (T'Challa) in a different way but with such dignity and truth, it's hard to fathom. The stuff that connects this film to the greater arc of the MCU are fine but in the way. The meat of this is the anger and sadness and guilt of grief and the achievement, while in part belongs to the actors and hundreds of filmmaking staff, is really all Coogler's to own.
His leading actor died. Instead of replacing him or finding a convenient way to deal with it, Coogler embraced the death as a part of the narrative, effectively honoring both Boseman and T'Challa in one fell swoop. I'm so goddamned impressed with the depth of creativity and feeling.
Also, it's a really fun movie. It's also a fun movie populated mostly with heroic black women (which aside from The Woman King, I can't think of too many like it). And it does that wonderful thing all the best MCU films do—it sets us up for more.
And, if you know me, I always want more.
I want more Wakanda. I want more Namor. I want more Okoye. I want more Julia Louis-Dreyfus. And, please, I want more Coogler.

Because I just referenced him: Shout out to Uncle Phil (James Avery) for voicing James Rupert Rhodes in the Spider-Man 90s cartoon. He had like... ten minutes of screen time across the entire show, but it was enough!
