Now where did I leave off? (Bysotid Ch 38 Sneak Peek)
I was looking at when I last updated and it's been so long! Io definitely needed the break though, and he's feeling a little recharged. He's about halfway through editing the next chapter, so it should be out soon. Either this weekend or next weekend depending on when he's finished with it. So your wait is almost over!
That also means it's time for a sneak peek. Something sweet and wholesome this time, I think. :D
Viktor opened the door and stepped back as his rinkmates came in. Yurka was looking all around, eyes wide, after taking off his shoes. “This is where you live?!”
Viktor nodded. “Hello, to you too, Yurka.” Viktor smiled at everyone else and shut the door after Katya had come in.
“Still no dining table, I see.” Katya grinned. “Dinner is going to be interesting.”
Viktor shrugged. “I don’t typically have many people over at the same time, but Yura says it’s fine. We’ll eat at the coffee table.” Viktor waved to the aforementioned table which had been partially set. “It’s what Yura and Phichit do in Detroit, but they’re used to it, so if it’s a problem…”
Katya shook her head. “Just teasing, Vitya.”
“Where did you get all of these?!” Yurka had wandered over to where his medal cabinet was, but Viktor knew quite well that he wasn’t looking at Viktor’s medals and was instead staring at his Yuuri wall. Yurka’s fingers hovered over a poster of Yuuri in his Nocturne costume.
“Where is Yura anyway?” Katya collapsed onto the couch and Makka jumped up and settled next to her to claim attention. Mila was just poking around Yuuri's things that had found temporary homes in the living room. They’d all be gone the day after next, but Viktor was trying not to think about that.
“He needed to go to the Asian market; forgot something.” He paused. “He’s making something Japanese, so I hope that’s all right with everyone.” Viktor walked over to where Yurka was still staring at the wall of Yuuri posters.
“I meant it. I haven’t seen any of these for sale. He doesn’t have merchandise except for the dog stuff. And that’s not him, it’s his dog.” Yurka stood on his tiptoes to look at the first picture from ON ICE Viktor had gotten; it was one of a few that Viktor had actually framed, and the only one that Yuuri had signed. “I’ve never seen this!”
“He doesn’t have merchandise in Russia.” Viktor said. “These are all Japanese. Mostly included in magazines. That was from a piece the first time he was covered in ON ICE, just a full page print from his first Junior nationals win. Though this one,” he tapped a framed poster of Yuuri in training gear, striking a dance pose outside with Osaka castle visible in the background, “was from a charity thing he did after the Tohoku earthquake. I won it in an online auction. Lost out on the signed one though.”
“Can’t you just have him sign it now?” Katya asked.
Viktor sighed. “If only Yura was that agreeable. How about you try your luck and ask him for me, Katya?”
Katya opened her mouth to say something, but the front door opening stopped her. A woman’s voice saying “Have a nice night, Yuuri Toshiyavich” carried through the open door punctuated with little yips that had Makkachin lifting her head from Katya’s lap in curiosity.
“Ah, no, really Yuuri is just fine, Nadia. Have a good night.” Yuuri shut the door and toed his shoes off, a paper bag in his arms. “Her dog yips like no one’s business.” He looked around. “Sorry I hadn’t gotten back yet. Hi.”
“Yura! What’s this book?”
Yuuri put the bag down on the kitchen counter and then took the book Mila was holding out of her hands. “It’s one of my Clinical Psychology textbooks. You don’t need that.” He dropped it back on the side table. Yuuri turned to Viktor and his eyes widened. “You aren’t showing him that wall, are you? Vitya, stop.”
Viktor laughed. “He found it on his own. Wanted to know where I got all my posters.”
“It’s so embarrassing.” Yuuri shook his head. “At least it’s just some of the skating ones.”
Katya giggled from the couch, twisting to look over the back. “Are there non-skating ones that Vitya doesn’t know about?”

hello!!!! I'd like to ask if you have any fic recs for russian skate fam dynamics, so really just yuuri in st petersburg and adjusting to life there, especially his interactions with everyone in russia, lilia and yakov included!! thank youuu!!! ❤❤
Hello nonnie! Here are some fics with Russian skate fam dynamics:
185/120 by (orphan account) [G, 1K]
Yakov isn’t paid enough for this shit.
a million miles from your desperate days by idrilka, xyai [M, 11K]
Victor came to Hasetsu with the force of a hurricane and managed to make himself right at home at Yu-topia, somehow fitting into the quiet rhythm of their lives. Maybe this means that Yuuri will fit into Victor’s life in Saint Petersburg, too, against all odds or reason.
(Or: A year in the life.)
have you heard there's a rumor in st. petersburg series by @kevystel [G, 20K]
domesticity & rinkmate shenanigans in russia
it doesn’t take a scientist by @alykapediaaa [T, 2K]
On Wednesday, Yuri skates right in between Viktor and Mila and says, nonchalant. “When I grow up, I’m going to be Yuuri Katsuki’s second husband.”
Viktor chokes on his own spit.
“What happened to the first one?” Mila asks, amused.
“Nothing you can prove,” Yuri says, glancing meaningfully at a wide-eyed Viktor before skating away to the sound Mila’s laughter.
(Or: In which Yuri Plisetsky has a crush, Mila Babicheva is a terrible listener, Otabek Altin is an equally terrible advice-giver, and the only possible solution to his predicament is to kill Viktor Nikiforov and marry Yuuri Katsuki himself.)
Ptichye Moloko by ilien / @ili-here [T, 6K]
It's Yuuri's birthday, and he's in St. Petersburg—but Viktor isn't.
russia shenanigans series by @lazulisong [G and M, 11K]
various nonsense that happens after Yuri K moves to russia: the series
so yours for the taking by euphemisms [M, 4K]
Yuuri sneezes, and sends two top ranked, gold medal winning Russian figure skaters into a minor meltdown.
The Russian Skate Family (and their Japanese In-Law) by preciousbunnynoiz / @ineffectualdemon [T, 4K] *WIP
Hijinks and Shenanigans featuring the Russian Skate Family and their new favourite member through marriage: Katsuki Yuuri
And let me also redirect you to the post-canon fic rec in the masterlist, as it's relevant to Yuuri adjusting in Russia.
As always, other recs are welcome! :)

i know others have done this but i’m a sucker for sleepy boys so...
sleepy victor headcanons
- victor’s a morning person and gets tired around 10pm, sometimes earlier.
- he likes having his hair stroked, will nuzzle until he gets his way. confusing for yuuri during the summer of mutual pining but now the norm.
- blanket burrito.
- vitya likes to be touched in general, but his natural touchy feelyness goes to ridiculous levels when tired.
- his accent gets stronger and sometimes he abandons English all together, mumbling sleepy Russian instead. yuuri’s getting there with his russian but he often has to get vitya to repeat sentences in english when his voice is sleep slurred.
- yuuri’s oversized hoodies which actually fit victor cos yuuri likes them baggy. they’re very cosy and smell like his fiance.
- he is a big bundle of love when sleepy, unlike when his fiance when he’s a grump monster in the mornings.
- in fact vitya only gets huffy when he can’t get comfortable, and will settle as soon as yuuri soothes him with some attention.
- cuddle pile always consisting of vitya, yuuri and makkachin, but sometimes with the addition of phichit or chris when they’re visiting, mila and georgi when they’re over, and once when he’d managed to get some alcohol at a party and had yuuri pick him up cos he was super drunk, yurio.
- fluffy socks.
- if victor isn’t entirely in yuuri’s lap when sleepy, then he has his head there or on his shoulder.
- verbal nightblogging.
- telling yuuri how pretty he is, which used to fluster yuuri endlessly before they were together but now just makes him smile. also lots of “love you”s mumbled into the crook of yuuri’s neck.
- sleepy makkachin pets.

Day 2: Decorating the Rink
“YOUR SIT SPINS AREN’T ARTISTIC ENOUGH!”
“WELL, GEORGI’S QUADS ARE SHAKY!”
“DON’T DRAG ME UNDER LIKE THAT!”
“He’s right though, Gosha…”
“I WOULDN’T TALK! YOU CAN’T NAIL HALF THE QUADS YOU NEED TOO!”
“SHUT IT!”
“Guys, we need to stop–”
“STAY OUT, OF THIS PIG, YOU GO OVER THERE WITH YOUR OLD MAN AND KEEP YOUR NOSE OUT OF OUR BUSINESS!”
“FUCK OFF YURI!!”
“YOU FUCK OFF! IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT!”
“IT’S NOT MY FAULT THAT YOU CAN’T BE RESPECTFUL OF OTHERS, UBLYUDOK!”
“VY PRIKOM, DUMBASS!“
“OBA VY VYKHODITE.”
“ENOUGH!!!” Every one quieted as Yuuri suddenly yelled out in the midst of his new rink mates and fiance throwing insults at each other in both English and Russian. He panted as they all turned to look at him with widened eyes. Yuuri hadn’t been much of a yeller; Viktor had only heard him yell a handful of times over the past couple of years and Yuri had only heard him yell once a long time ago before he and the Katsudon had become friends.
“Yuuri–” Viktor tried before his fiance stepped away from his side and looked at each of the skaters in turn.
“You all need to stop arguing! I know the Grand Prix is in a week. We are all aware of it and we all qualified this year. That’s great. But we can’t keep fighting–”
“I was just trying to help out–” Yuri started but Yuuri threw him a hardened look, for once making the Russian fairy shut up without an argument.
“We can’t keep getting at each other’s throats. We’re a team. We need to support each other. Fighting about this and that isn’t doing anything, alright?”
Mila huffed from where she was perched but nodded, “Yuuri’s right, you guys.”
“Yuuri–” Viktor hummed as he went to cling to his fiance, “I was just–”
Yuuri stepped away once more and gave a reassuring look at his fiance’s long face, “I know. But you can’t keep screaming at everyone everytime they insult me, Vitya.”
“I–”
“I know.” Yuuri skated close enough to Viktor to brush his fingers against the pale cheek, “I know. I still love you, but everyone needs to relax, okay?”
Yuuri smiled as everyone mumbled out an “Okay.”, “Good. Now, I have an idea. Viktor? Since you’re technically in charge of everyone while Yakov is teaching younger skaters, do you mind if we all take a break for a bit?”
“What about the GPF?”
“Don’t worry. We just need half an hour?”
Viktor sighed but nodded, “Alright. Everyone off the ice.”
Yuuri hummed and led the way, taking only a moment to slip on skate guards before making his way over to a pile of boxes in the corner. Yakov, Viktor and a janitor at the rink had hauled the boxes out of the storage room the day before, waiting for someone to come and empty them of Christmas Decorations they had held inside.
“Okay, everyone gather around,” Yuuri called as he  stood next to the boxes, the Russian team all looking at each other begrudgingly as they came closer, “We’re decorating the rink.”
“But–” Yuuri eyed each of the skaters in turn, who had all gone quiet after they met Yuuri’s eyes, “Yes, Yuuri.”
Yuuri smiled at each of them and turned to the boxes, grabbing the one on top labeled “Garland” and passed it to Viktor, “Vitya, you and Yurio–”
“THAT’S NOT MY NAME!”
“–can start on the garland. You know where the ladder is.” Yuuri kissed Viktor’s pouted lips softly and patted his shoulder softly before moving to grab another box, “Mila and Georgi, you two can work on Painting the front doors.” He pushed a small box of window paints, brushes, and rags into Mila’s hands.
“And you’re gonna sit around and do nothing pig?”
“Yura–”
Yuuri cut off Viktor’s growl, “This is why you two are going to work together. And, no, I’m going to start putting up the Christmas tree. We all have work for us to do.”
“Mind if I join?” They all turned to look at the approaching figure, his dark curls looking more frizzy and curly as ever as they draped down in front of electric blue eyes and curled around elfish features. Stephan had been one of the dime a dozen skaters that Yakov had coached until he had injured himself so badly that skating had been out of the question in the middle of his last season in Juniors. Since then, Yakov had taken him on as a coaches assistant.
“You’re late today–” Yuri spat at the older man.
“And you’re whinny today. Good to see we’re on the same page.” Stephan tossed back with a smile before turning to Yuuri.
“Of course. You can help me put up the tree.”
“Sounds excellent.”
Yuuri turned to everyone, “Okay team. Let’s get to work.” As the other four grumbled and stumbled off in their pairs, Yuuri smiled at Stephan, “It’s good to see you. I thought Yakov banned you from the rink until you were 100% better?”
Stepan sniffled and smiled, “Ehh. What Yacky doesn’t know won’t kill him. Besides, I’m not on the ice. I don’t think the sniffles will keep me from successfully decorating a Christmas tree.”
Yuuri nodded, “Okay, but you should rest too.”
By the time Yuuri and Stephan had hauled the Christmas tree out of the box and had managed to put it together, the bickering on the other side of the rink between Viktor and Yuri had stopped and they were starting to chuckle together. The sight was almost precious in Yuuri’s eyes; kind bubbly Viktor and hard-headed moody Yuri having a good time together like they were brothers was extremely adorable. They were looping garland around the rink’s walls and making cute patterns out of the colorful strands and bright colored bows, seeing who could make the most artistic piece.
“They’re getting along well,” Stephan commented as he continued to fluff the branches of his side of the tree.
“That they are,” Yuuri hummed as he turned back to the branches he was supposed to be fluffing, “Finally. They were at each other’s throats earlier.”
“That happens a lot.”
“It doesn’t help that the Grand Prix Final is in just over a week either.”
Stephan was quiet for a moment, “Looks like Georgi and Mila are having fun too.” Yuuri peeked around the tree to see the two skaters laughing and painting the windows with Christmas trees and snowmen.
“Yuuri couldn’t help chuckling, “This was a good idea.”
“That it was.”

Okay but I want to see more bestfriends!mila and georgi. I want to see them causing mischief around the rink and making yakov want to pull what’s left of his hair out. I want to see them pulling pranks on victor and yuuri, and teasing yuri about otabek. I want to see them going out clubbing together during the off season and being wingmen for each other or looking after each other when they get too drunk. I want to see them helping each other out at practise and cheering each other on a competitions. I want to see them bicker, laugh and gossip together. I just want to see more of this big gay russian skating family being all supportive and dysfunctional.

Now ik this is a serious scene
Tumblr media
But this screencap is also genuinely so funny to me like look at Mila. LOOK.
Every single person in the Russian skating fam is a disaster when it comes to people they're into. They just don't know how to behave (which, I am sure, is fodder for commentary on how much of their lives they've given to skating and how isolated they've become) and as a result are just always fumbling around in the dark like headless chickens.
Be it, let-me-bring-in-my-ex-wife-to-coach-my-dumb-son-and-maybe-we'll-bone-Feltsman, gonna-seduce-Yuuri-with-coaching-and-a-frontal-of-my-dick-Nikiforov, she-dumped-me-cause-I'm-creepy-so-I'll-just-100x-Popovich, or is-my-crush-crying-cause-she's-into-her-bro?-Babicheva.

Why Mila lifts Yuri
To annoy him, obviously, but more than that.
When Yuri was 4/5, Mila was 7/8 and Victor and Georgi were 17/18, the boys treated the kids like damn playthings. It was a test of their growing strength to see how many push-ups they could do with one of the kids sitting on them, or how high they could lift them, and the little ones loved it. They even choreographed a version of Tchaikovsky's Russian Dance which was mostly 'throw Mila and Yuri in the air’. Most of this did take place on land, not ice, because the four of them had already taken enough years off Yakov’s life.
Then Yuri and Mila got older, and Victor and Georgi naturally stopped treating them like tiny children. Then one day Yakov was in a bad temper with Yuri and said “If you carry on like that, you’ll spend the afternoon with Victor in the gym. As the weight.”
“Victor couldn’t lift me any more,” Yuri scoffed.
“Oh please, I could lift you,” Mila said.
Yuri rolled his eyes. “You couldn’t even try.”
She did.

Snow-bruised Kisses
On the sixth of January Saint Petersburg experienced the heaviest snowfall of winter so far. Yuuri, who had seen snow in Detroit, found Russia to be a different beast altogether.
Yakov had let his skaters off for that day and the following, seeing as Russians celebrated Christmas on the seventh of January. Yuuri, not massively into celebrating Christmas beyond a bucket of fried chicken, still welcomed the couple of extra days off as an opportunity to lie in.
However on the morning of Christmas Eve, Yuuri was rudely awakened by an excited shout of “bunny!” and the full weight of his fiance throwing himself into bed beside him.
“Nnng,” Yuuri groaned into his pillow rather than indulge whatever ungodly mission Victor had this early.
“Bunny, it’s snowing!” Victor said, undeterred as he attempted to pry Yuuri off the pillow.
“We’re in Russia,” Yuuri pointed out. “‘S always snowing.”
“Not this much!”
Yuuri blinked and frowned, wondering whether he cared more about sleep or snow.
“Mmmm… ‘kay,” he eventually agreed, allowing Victor to tug him to his feet, not at all surprised that Victor was already showered and dressed for the day despite them not having practice.
Victor took a moment to pepper his face in good morning kisses, which made getting up a little more bearable, then he dragged Yuuri over to the window. Yuuri rubbed his eyes against the sudden glare as Victor draped himself over his back.
“Oh wow,” Yuuri sighed, amazed at the snowy streets.
The snow was indeed very thick, a deep blanket of it coating the city overnight and still falling from the sky.
“We have to go sledging, bunny!” Victor said, bouncing around like Makkachin when a walk was mentioned.
“Okay, just let me get ready first.”
“I’ll make breakfast!”
Victor gave him a peck on the cheek, a warm smile, and bounded out to the living area. Yuuri chuckled, endlessly charmed by his fiance, and headed to their en suite to shower.
