I'm feeling kind of embarrassed over this, but holy hell this has literally never happened to me before.
I think I am confusing a fanfic write line, with a canonically said line.
Like, I swear to all higher powers the lines (and since it's been a week I'm paraphrasing this):
"Ah! I can't find any more paper, Sir!"
"Just do the calculus in your head, like a normal person, Simmons!"
Was a legit canon Simmon and Grif banter during maybe the Chorus arc(?). . . but now I'm getting all cross-wired and starting to think that was just something I read in a fanfic.
But that's like. . . I've never cross-wired a canon phrase with a fic phrase before so I'm reeling over this.
Does this banter sound familiar to anyone else? If it does, tell me either which episode or which fic.

Watching Impulse’s stream from the other day and Bdubs joined the game an hour or so in, and Impulse was about to say hi in chat but then stopped, because he hadn’t said hi to anyone else and he didn’t want it to look like he was playing favourites. He was like “sorry Bdubs I have to snub you just like I snubbed everyone else”. Then, after a suggestion from chat, he got around it by saying “hey everyone hope you are all having a wonderful day” and then looked super pleased with himself for that loophole

Doc’s been wandering alone on Empires for 20 minutes, hasn’t seen anyone, has finally discovered a structure. He sees a redstone contraption and just says “if I was Grian right now I would press this button” and then presses it. He’s seen Joel kill Scar in chat, and also that Grian knows Joel by name and is very confused. Doc is convinced this is a UHC. The button released fireworks and now Doc is looking around, worried that he has attracted attention, worried that he’ll be killed if it’s a UHC. Doc is not having a good time right now

Man Ren is practically begging the server to start a revolution. Flaunting his wealth and building with diamonds was taking too long so he decided to claim everything built in spawn and the shopping district with his head.
The funny part is I honestly think he wasn’t expecting the king thing to last this long. He expected rebellions long before now and now he’s just like. What can I do next so they rebel. I have no diamonds please remove me as king why is no one rebelling.

After everyone leaves Tumble Town, except for Scar who doesn’t have enough rockets, Scar sits Jimmy down and tries to explain that Woody is an honourable man, a leader, respected, and that Jimmy should embrace him. Honestly I much prefer Scar’s method here of utilising his charisma rather than Joel’s of just yelling that Jimmy is a toy haha

Non-Red vs Blue fans guess the fake fact: results!

Alright time to finally review the results! Correct answer is at the bottom of this post for those not interested in all of the results and explanations!
So the most highly voted option at 23% was Elijah Wood which I’m sorry to say is incorrect! Elijah Wood was a voice actor in the series. He played the role of Sigma! What this big name actor is doing in a random web series I have no idea but it’s still one of the wildest things to me.
Now the aspirin overdose comes in with 17.3% and got mentioned a lot in the notes and it is also incorrect. However I will admit to some poor wording on my part because it was actually an allergic reaction not an overdose. That’s a genuine oopsies on my part 😅
Florida sinking into the ocean gets a 10.1% and is also incorrect! The state of Florida does in fact sink into the ocean and it’s implied this was to cover up the disappearance of Agent Florida (who is also the guy who dies from the aspirin)
The gay guy, who’s name is Donut btw, becoming Jesus comes in with 8.3% and is in fact very real. He even walks on water. It was wild and tbh I barely remember it cause it’s from a season I dislike but it was too wild not to include.
With 7.2% I can say for sure that the giant killer robot is indeed dressed up in cute hats! Specifically a sombrero! Also the robots name is Freckles.
CPR for a bullet wound in the head gets 6.7% and is in fact considered effective medical care. Now I will say this later gets retconned and it turns out the guy didn’t actually get shot in the head the bullet just grazed him and his armor locked up making them all think he was dying- hence the choice of word being considered. The characters fully believe it but the CPR did not actually save him cause he wasn’t even hurt to begin with.
The crazy love triangle comes in with 4.7% and is also very canon and is exactly as it’s said. There’s literally just this insane love triangle for like two seasons- honestly the only love triangle plot I ever enjoyed.
With a solid 4% I can say that there is in fact canon mpreg! Hurray? Idk man this one’s exactly as it sounds. Dude got knocked up by an alien.
In last place with 2.5% of votes is the main character dying repeatedly. This is also incorrect. First off this guy is named Church which very funny on its own. Secondly it’s actually one of the first running jokes in the series how much this dude dies. Until it’s not a joke 🫠 also a few people pointed out RvB doesn’t have a main character and while I agree I felt it was simpler just to call Church the main character for this poll since it’s designed for people who haven’t seen RvB and I would argue that the majority of the narrative centers around Church even when he’s not there.
And now for the correct answer, coming in at third place with 16.1% is Caboose is god!
Now I will fully confess to being sneaky with this one. This is actually a joke made within the series but it is not true at all. Caboose is not actually god and the platypus is just that fucked up. I knew nothing I could come up with would be able to match the absurdity of this series so I decided to twist a few words so that way everything seemed equally fucked up.

If the rest of the RVB characters got to hang out with all the AI Fragments-
Delta-
Simmons and Delta will play a game with Caboose; he messes up a rubik’s cube, then Delta helps Simmons so they solve it super fast. Caboose will ooh and ahh over it, then mess the cube up again for them to re-solve (they all enjoy this and will do it for a couple hours). Delta also likes the fact that Simmons is totally ready to just randomly deep-dive some rabbit-hole of a conversation. In the same way Delta likes agreeing with Simmons, he likes arguing with Grif. It isn’t even “arguing” in the sense of having a fight, Delta just sees through Grif’s backwards logic and “playing dumb”, and tricks Grif into proving how smart he actually is by never giving up a conversation
Donut tried asking Delta to help “filter” his accidental innuendos. Delta started setting him up to make more. Eventually, Donut realized this was Delta playfully messing with him (and he got a chuckle out of it). Similar, yet the opposite, Kai has asked Delta for elaborate information about various kinks, and he will give her answers that are so "literal", they are incorrect. She's not sure if he's doing this on purpose or not...
Doc tries very hard to NOT bother Delta with this-and-that regarding medical facts, but this brings up the conversation that while Delta can access various information, he doesn’t inherently “know” everything, and he WANTS to be helpful if somebody is hurt, so Doc and Delta review trivia together
With Caboose, Delta finds it genuinely sweet and refreshing how Caboose doesn’t really think about the fact that Delta is basically a “computer”, and thus rarely does technology related activities with him. Instead, Caboose will share just about anything with Delta, and it is always given with enthusiasm
Tucker gets into a zone with Delta; whatever natural problem-solving skills or ingenuity Tucker has seem to get kicked-up a notch when he’s talking with Delta. It isn’t on purpose, and neither of them is really “trying” to make it happen. Tucker also seems to help Delta be less “distracted” by the “logical bad outcomes”, and instead is able to be more determined (and it is one of the rare moments Delta’s voice has a slight lilt to it, sounding excited) Something about talking together makes them both oddly more focused. Everybody else will sort of stand back in awe
Delta and Wash have an unspoken shared feeling... they both remind each other of York in some way. Wash will do something that has some little York mannerism in it that he picked up, Delta will say something that has a hidden joke that came from York, etc. It’s bitter-sweet, but nice. Neither of them wants to bring it up, worried it might make the other sad. Speaking of York, Carolina almost feels like she owes Delta some sort of apology, because she can’t say anything to York. Instead of getting too deep into that subject, Delta will bring up other interests Carolina has, and she eventually realizes these are things she gave up when she became dedicated to being the best Freelancer; as far as Delta is concerned, the best way for them both to honor York’s memory is to take the time to enjoy their own happiness, and share it with others... that’s what makes them human
Sarge will ask Delta for references regarding something important that is also red, and then sprinkle these little facts in conversations to prove a point. Every once in a while, Delta tells him something inaccurate, and because Delta’s voice always sounds sincere, Sarge never questions it. Delta thinks it’s funny
Lopez and Delta have an entire sit-com buddy thing going on. Everybody thinks it’s weird because it seems so NORMAL. They’ll feed each other banter with their monotone voices, and it just sounds like “regular dude” nonsense, except their a robot and an AI. Delta also only speaks Spanish to Lopez
Locus likes Delta... but sometimes Delta will sort of plainly state some fact he’s noticed about Locus, usually an insightful observation based on behavior, and it isn’t meant to be insulting/prying, but... it’s usually very spot-on and blunt. Locus has to remind Delta “I already have one therapist”, which he also means jokingly, but now Delta as a crisis because he wasn’t trying to be rude! He’s so sorry!

They tried to give him a character arc in season 16 but joe nicolsi (s16 writer) fundamentally misunderstoood his character and it was. bad. Ask any rvb fan abt season 16 tucker and they will likely become upset. they did him so dirty.
He had an ENTIRE ARC (mostly s11-13) about how he was becoming a better person and a good leader and improving from the person he was since season 1 and then season 14 and 15 just completely butchered it to make jokes that werent even funny and not accurate to how he was previously portrayed! There were awful jokes about him not paying child support, which is complete bullshit because when he was impregnated by an alien in like, one of the first 5 seasons (i dont remember which) and had to raise an alien baby, he DID! He put in the work and was so proud of him! He literally showed other people a picture of junior on the basketball team, it was adorable! And its just annoying since he was my favorite character and it was awful to see him mischaracterized like that. To be fair, s15 screwed over a lot of the characters, as although it was more coherent then s16 or the zero thing, the way it was set up was just flat and unsatisfying, tying off too many threads while also introducing too many new charaters and elements to the story that made it feel unnatural and set a precedent that s16 followed and flopped as a result of (im mostly annoyed because of how s15 handled the freelancers, as so much more could have been done with them, and s15 could have legitimately worked if it was allowed to progress theough a multiple season storyline instead of pushing new characters and rushing any development, making that 'betrayal' feel cheap and unimportant, because there was no reason to get attached to such shallow characters in the first place.). It was also stupid when the zero season spinoff thing happened, since in the main series, tucker had a sword, which was very important to his character and storyline in general, and this sword would only function when used by the owner of it. To transfer ownership, the owner had to die, and the next to pick it up would have control of it. Beasically, they killed him off (sorta but not permanantly i dont think? Probably so that they didnt piss off fans (i dont the details of the spinoff i didnt watch it but did read a lot of critical reviews)) just to give his signature sword to some other character. I think the writer probably thought that the fans thought the sword was cool, but didnt realize that it was TUCKER holding the sword that people found cool.

RWBY X Justice League: Superheroes and Huntsmen Part One Review (No Spoilers)

So if I had to sum up the movie in a sentence, it would be-
“This should have been about 30-40 minutes longer.”
Summary:
So basic idea of the movie is ‘What if the Justice League found themselves in the world of RWBY as teenagers?’ This basic idea guides the whole movie, from the tone of the Justice League characters to how the movie is presented.
Unforunately, both RWBY and ESPECIALLY DC are heavily dense properties with a bit of history at least behind them. So this causes some...issues.
Characters:
When it comes to a crossover event, judging characters is rather different since you have to judge them based on how they are portrayed in relation to their original counterparts. I will relate the DC characters to you but my focus will have to be on RWBY as that is my specialty here.
For DC, we have the likes of Superman/Clark, Wonder Woman/Diana, Batman/Bruce, The Flash/Barry, Green Lantern, Vixen and Cyborg. ... I grew up with the 2000′s JL cartoon, I just have the names of those four stuck in me okay?
With Vixen, Cyborg, Green Lantern and Diana- they seem consistent with the popular depiction of their characters. Cyborg is a bit sarcastic but well meaning; Vixen is frustrated by the situation but also confident and upbeat; Green Lantern is having issues which becomes an arc she gets and Diana is basically a warrior poet.
Barry is...off for reasons.
Clark has two lines in the movie that seem a bit too confident for him but that could be something that pops up in certain incarnations. Otherwise, he is the same Man of Steel as always- pure, wholesome, kind, responsible and having a grounded wisdom to him. To be truthful, Clark and his interactions with Ruby were my favorite parts of the movie.
And then we have Bruce. Bruce has an arc centered around a key aspect of the Batman character and how it can conflict with the core of who Bruce is as a hero- determined to save people. It can be considered massively missing the mark OR an exploration of Bruce’s character. It’s weird, much like the movie itself. But no, he is not a joke in the movie nor is he a generic brooding man. He is a calm, cool, smart and analytical man.
As for RWBY characters...things are off with them.
Yang, Blake and Jaune are perfectly fine. They’re relatively consistent to their Beacon characterization with Jaune lacking some of his patheticness, instead using his ability to support others both figuratively and literally which works because spoilers.
Ren and Nora have a...not-love triangle thing with Cyborg (this is not a spoiler, it does nothing) that feels like 95% of it was cut. Other than that, they’re consistent too.
And Ruby has an arc that involves Clark that makes sense for her character (especially if you watch Volume 9) but because the movie is like a skeleton- the meat of the arc is a bit lacking.
Gonna be honest- The RWBY cast feels the most off between them and the DC characters. Which makes sense when you consider the writer is from DC, not RT. Still, I would say it functions as intended. Just not very smoothly.
Animation:
The animation is actually pretty damn good. The fight scenes have good flow to them, a good sense of speed and momentum for the most part, interesting action. And the more casual animation works- faces emote and move properly, movements and gestures are effective in communicating the meaning behind the characters’ words.
This is one of the best showing for the CRWBY team yet.
Humor:
Almost entirely subjective. All I can say is it’s standard RWBY fair minus 2D anime cliches. Also no, this is not MCU humor. RT was doing this in RvB in 2004.
Plot, Pacing and Tone:

Okay, it is REALLY hard to talk about this without spoiling anything because good lord, is this movie densely packed.
Character interactions and plot progression are often mashed together with each other, which can often result in very awkward lines. Fortunately for DC fans, this is almost entirely on the RWBY end. Because much of the awkwardness comes from the writing needing to explain RWBY worldbuilding to the DC characters without having enough time for exposition. For example, Weiss outright calls Dust a ‘natural resource’, which while true has NEVER been how Weiss has talked about Dust in the past.
As for tone- it’s similar to Volumes 1 and 2. Some serious moments but general light hearted fun. Both DC and RWBY characters become the butt of jokes as well as moments to have more emotional and vulnerable instances. It’s not deathly serious like many DC properties nor does it have the same gravity as something like the 2000′s JL cartoons. But it’s not Teen Titans Go. It’s a mix of plot and humor.
Conclusion:
The whole movie feels...weird. I think this is what ‘rushed’ was originally supposed to mean. At 80 minutes, this is a rather short movie and it doesn’t really work. Humor and animation are fine because time doesn’t usually affect these. But the plot and especially the characters? There’s just not enough time to go through the proper steps. Things like the reveal of the villain or Ruby and Bruce’s arcs could work. They’re not exactly failures but they have been stripped of their meat. And the meat is what you taste in a movie, not the bones that make up the structure.
Bruce’s writing might set you off- it’s the biggest risk taken here. And the RWBY parts are a bit...off. So I can’t say this was fantastic or great. But it does give some good action, the character interactions between Ruby and Bruce, Yang, Blake and Diana; and Jaune and Green Lantern are great and the rest is given a real shot, just without the time to flourish.
All in all, an honest but stumbling effort of a movie.

Birthday boy
Being part of the project was awesome but also had this lonely moments
He took the mandatory day off to "celebrate" his birthday but since he got ranked in the project his former friends were too scared to hang out with him or he pushed them away to maintain some status like the rest of the top agents
Which leads him to sitting alone in a parking lot, his only company, a stray cat on his lap and some cars... He chuckles bitterly at himself thinking about how much of a party animal he is right now.... He should have stayed on his room.... "worst birthday ever, of all times...."
That's when you find him and you asked what was he doing there
He doesn't really want to answer but it's the first time he talks to you outside the project, the cute medic who does his daily check ups
He tried to be cool, to be mysterious as York would say "I'm... Doing stuff" you giggle making him blush hard and curse himself under his breath
You take sit with him and pet the cat gently "is the cat named 'stuff' or are you trying to be cool agent Washington?"
He groans loudly hiding his face in embarrassment "I don't know... This is not even my cat"
You can't help but laugh, he thinks you have such a pretty voice and could hear your laugh everyday but feels so ashamed right now he just wants to get shoot or speed run to the base
"isn't your birthday today?" You ask smiling at him
He nods sighing "I'm having the time of my life as you see" you chuckle a bit and he looks at you "how do you know?" He asks curious
You feel your cheek grow warm "ah... Well your file has your information and I see it everyday so..." You can't help but blush bright red "I took the day off because I wasn't going to see you today at work"
He's trying to process your words and then sees you touch the back of your neck looking at your lap "would you like to eat lunch with me?" His mouth falls open, are you asking him out or is only for his birthday? Fuck it, he's not going to miss this opportunity
He coughs a bit trying to regain some self control, he's actually super excited "yeah sure I know a place!" When you look at him smiling he calms down
You laugh getting up "come on birthday boy, my treat"
This was definitely the best birthday ever, of all times 🤭💕

I cant stop thinking about that theory that tucker didn't actually sire that many children but a bunch of people didn't want to say they had sex with some random guy so they just all claimed it was Tucker bc he's a war hero and it sounds cooler
I also want to add to it that they all know Tucker never actually gets any, in fact they're all pretty sure tucker didn't get with anyone during the temple, so claiming he managed to pull 40 women in one day is their thank you gift to him

I got distracted and remembered @ladyknightskye did a tag thing that I felt like responding to, so here's that. (You can also do it if you want?)
Your name: Zita. Just call me Zita.
Your first fandom(s): Uhhhhhh I guess the first one I really went online for was Pokemon? I was into the end of Pokemon fandom where people did crossovers with everything and had absolutely wild OC adventures set in America for no reason. That kind of thing.
Your current fandom(s): Mostly Halo. I have other things I like, but Halo's kept me pretty busy. RvB if you talk me into it. Tabletop rpgs too. (And I mean "tabletop rpgs," I have some favorites but I'm really into watching the whole field.)
How did you first get into fandom?: I was real young back in the 90s during the Pokemon craze and, at that point in Internet history, you could go to the library and check out a book that was JUST a listing of Pokemon fan websites. A literal book. That a someone sold for actual money. That's how I first ran into personal sites belonging to pokemon nerds, and webrings, and fanfiction, and all that other stuff.
How long have you been engaging in fandom spaces?: I was active on fanfiction.net when I was like 8 years old. I didn't have an account, though. I was just really insufferable in peoples' review sections, but that was pretty normal. There were a lot of kids doing that. I am often not really active in "fandom" spaces but over the years I've generally had people to hang out with and talk to even if I wasn't posting fanfiction or w/e.
How often do you read fanfics?: Rarely. Like, to the point where I feel bad about not engaging with other fans' work as much as I'd like to. As I've gotten older, I've had less and less free time and more and more difficulty focusing. I count myself lucky when I successfully get through something. There's a lot of excellent work out there that I just am not able to stick my eyes to for long enough.
Top three characters from your current fandom(s):

We all know Chief's the top of the Halo pile for me but the competition for spot #2 is so ferocious I can't even do it.
I love so many of them. ;_;
Anyway I guess because we're on this blog: Grif is the best RvB. Followed very closely by Carolina. And then the third spot falls too hard into tossup territory.

I don't draw as much as I used to, like once or twice a year anymore, but boy did I used to. I still draw tabletop characters sometimes, because I tend to gravitate to nonhuman characters that require some effort on my part to make a token for.

…I feel like I do that on my blog constantly and nothing I could say would be a surprise to anyone.
And finally, what does fandom mean to you?:
Something fun to think about because so many other things I have to think about are… not fun at all. Even better because you get to do it with people and some of them turn out to be really cool to talk with.
