this feels indescribably cringe but i’ve sent in asks on every roleplay finder blog i could find, hell i even went to reddit, and still my fields are barren, not a thread in sight. so i’m pulling myself up by the bootstraps here and making my very own post in the hopes that this turns the tables, because i see y’all out here and i know at least one of you (statistically more) has to be a roleplayer.

what am i looking for?

let’s start with an introduction - my name’s drew, i’m eighteen, and i’ve been roleplaying online for about ten years now. i have a literate writing style and tend to get carried away with how many paragraphs i find myself typing up for each reply, and i’m looking for other writers who are the same way!

writing isn’t actually the end all be all of roleplay, however, as i think what’s equally important is getting along ooc. i don’t just want a roleplay partner, i want a friend who i can vibe and develop things with — this being said, i’d rather stick to 16+ partners, with a preference for other 18+ writers. i’m willing to make exceptions, but i’m hesitant about getting close with people who are super younger than me.

TL;DR: i’m looking for a roleplay partner who’s passionate about threads, but also passionate about making a new friend who’s recently getting into the show! (:

okay, yeah, let’s get into content in case you’re on the fence. i don’t mind using ocs, doubling up, doing multiple pairings, and so on. i’m willing to do any number of pairings and interactions, and i’m even willing (shocking!) to do threads that don’t involve romance at all. if you’re the shippy type, however, here are some of my otps — characters i’m willing to write are italicized, characters i’d prefer to write are bolded.

i never recommend rvb to people because its sort of dated and clunky and hard to get into if youre only used to watching actual professionally produced movies/tv shows but uhm. if you like qsmp or just minecraft roleplay in general i would give rvb a chance

read and wrote a truly embarrassing amount of not-quite-rpf for the spielberg shows band of brothers and the pacific. this one i don't regret at all and will in fact do it again. the reading not the writing. the writing was fucking harrowing. i still have a spiderman/deadpool AU for two characters from the pacific up on my ao3

made everyone in my high school musical theatre production of les mis read enjolras/grantaire fanfiction (many times, if memory serves)

read that entire fucking destiel vietnam war/HIV au and cried so much i nearly threw up and then sent it to a friend and made him cry and nearly throw up and then for years afterward any time the song 'twist and shout' came on i would start crying and tearing up like as if i personally had lost a lover to HIV

read the all for the game/foxhole court books while in a vulnerable state (just very addicted to drugs) and genuinely thought they were good and recommended them to people and wrote popular fanfiction for them

lied about liking star wars to get online kik he/they pussy from an internet friend who ended up in a real normal offline gay marriage with an internet friend of theirs. i gambled everything and fucking lost

moderated several glee roleplay servers ranging from mid (normal glee roleplay server but i accidentally catfished another member by playing multiple roles, this is one of my greatest shames) to bad (titanic crossover roleplay server. this understandably did not get anywhere but not because the idea wasn't fantastic, just because honestly nobody knew as much about titanic as i did and it pissed me off). i truly have never let any online community dictate my real life emotions as much as the glee tumblr rp fandom did

roleplayed and wrote LOTS of fanfiction for rvb. red versus fucking blue. the HALO show made by roosterteeth. yes i fought in those trenches too (i voluntarily signed up for those trenches). i am writing this post currently wrapped up in a fleece roosterteeth blanket. it is fuck ugly. it cost me ninety canadian dollars. i bought two of them and gave the other one to a straight cis girl that i was madly in love with. we also used to watch red vs blue together. my skin is peeling off

in fact i can tell you the precise moment i got "into" mcyt because i'd been watching hermitcraft 7 on and off but i got really into the mycelium resistance turf war and there was a clip in his hc7e58 that made me laugh so much i had to post it on my fandom sideblog which was at the time for hlvrai+rvb. and i excused it under the guise of "hermitcraft has roleplay improv like those so it's kinda the same right?" but then i learned hermitblr was actually a thing and now im here talking about cfwhip's childhood trauma

OKAY SO. Pre-propaganda because we were enabled.

So it all started when cRWB shit the bed and me and Ship were like "huh, this show is... bad" and then were like "wait, has it always been bad? OMG IT'S ALWAYS BEEN BAD". There was a grieving process but somewhere in the middle I said "fuck this, I just want to write about James Ironwood having a nice time and not being shafted by LITERALLY EVERYONE IN ALL EXISTENCE". So I made a roleplay blog and Ship already had a Boyd roleplay blog so we were like "tee hee, let's cross them over :) tee hee, Ironwoof :) tee hee, fwiends" and that was July sixth, 2o2o, and now it's three years later (almost to the day! It's our anniversary Thursday!) and we're on volume 13 and we have crafted something unimagineably cool crossing over Ducktales and RWBY (hence the name! DTLS is just Ducktales but with the letters taken out!). (And also some other minor crossovers, like Merlin, RvB, Camp Camp, Thor, allusions to Duck Dodgers, I have plans for Cats, we have a whole ass Gravity Falls plot cooking, there's the possibility of a crossover with the shared Star Trek and My Little Pony crossover that lives in my head...)

The story, such as it is, follows the increasingly interconnected group of the Duck family and their hangers on and the Amity crew and their hangers on. It centers on the relationship between James and Boyd, who are very good friends, with James taking on a role as mentor for Boyd, who he sees a lot of himself in (for better or worse), and wants to help him avoid some of his own mistakes and pitfalls and trauma. It's a mixture of slice of life goofball shenanigans and the ongoing divorce between Ozma and Salem, which they have made everyone else's problem.

Within the au, we have several relationships; the three on my side are James and Boyd (who I will kick things over to Ship to talk up some more), the "green boys" Oscar and Louie, and Penny and Boyd, who were actually a submission from one of our readers!

Also, while it's not a DTLS thing and in fact predates it by several years, Luna Brothers is also canon in DTLS. (I will talk more about Luna Brothers in another post, so don't worry about them now.)

Anyway I'll talk more about them in their own propaganda posts but now you know what we're on about. OH also if you're interested DTLS is organized into a collection of google docs and can be read here.
