Blake and Sun wedding with Old Man Jaune as the officiater. Neptune is the best man. Ruby and Weiss are her bridesmaids, with Yang as her Maid of Honor.
Ruby catches the bouquet and EVERYONE looks straight at Oscar.
This is the Volume 4 Redux design of Blake and Sun in RWBY Redux series in my fanfics. I kinda redraw Sun's hair (cause I am not good at drawing his hair from V1). I also redrew their outfits for Volume 4.
my hot take for today, rwby gets better when you realise that blake definitely did have a crush on sun in the early days but didn’t follow up on it because she realised post-fall that her feelings were stronger for yang and that sun just wasn’t the one.
1) it makes all the eclipse moments in early volumes not feel like they’re shitting on bumbleby (the eventual canon couple)
2) it highlights that yes, blake is indeed bi
3) it tells a very realistic story of how some crushes just aren’t meant to be
do i still think blake had a bit of a crush on yang at beacon? absolutely. do i still think yang fell first and was so head over heels for blake at beacon? absolutely! blake seriously has a type, and sun and yang are both that type.
the difference comes in how they treat her. sun may be fun and flirty, but he’s also senseless and pushes blake out of her comfort zones far too often without realizing why she doesn’t appreciate it. yang on the other hand is patient with her, invites her into her life to have fun without pushing her way in and trampling all over her boundaries.
and that’s what’s fun about sun and yang being so similar !! like, not only does blake have a type, but it shows the variance in that type and what she needs in a relationship. it’s a great narrative !!
and it works extra well when you consider that sun doesn’t get jealous and actively encourages blake to go on her own way (subtext: to get her girl), because then it makes him somewhat of a narrative foil to ilia, who was jealous of adam and let that jealousy fester, as opposed to sun, who let go of those conflicting feelings to let blake — who he undoubtedly loves — be herself and do what she wants. (it’s also why i really love the dynamic of sun and ilia, himbo and lesbian duo getting over the girl they loved)
long story short, eclipse isn’t bad but it also wasn’t meant to be and that’s okay. better, even, for the story they wanted to tell for blake.
Just replayed Grimm Eclipse, again, and solo'd the hardest difficulty with Jaune, again.
If anything, it only reaffirms what I long suspected: the meta reason Jaune had to be the untrained noob wasn't just simply for exposition....
.....it was for the fact that his insane growth rate plus his, quite frankly, utterly bullshit Semblance would have completely derailed the story from the very beginning.
when blake said "I have to admit. I think I was kind of getting used to having you around."
when sun said "I go where I'm needed! And you don't need me anymore."
when sun said "Look, despite the drama and the fighting and the numerous attempts on my life, I had fun."
when blake said "Sun...I don't think I'll ever be able to thank you enough."
when sun said "I've got a feeling you haven't seen the last of me." and blake in return told him "I certainly hope not." before kissing him on a cheek-
This may be my not very popular opinion but I hate most spin-off products that rwby makes
Number 1: Ice Queendom and the crossovers with DC, Both crossovers were created to make money and nothing else and my hate comes from the simple facts and that they want to make these crossovers canon or semi-canon, But make this spin-off fuck the issue of timeline and development of rwby, A good example is weiss from ice queendom being racist towards faunus to have a dream for her to no longer be racist and then she continues to be so.
Spin-Offs are kinda hit or miss for me.
I LOVED Ice Queendom. RWBY was really good in the anime style, though the plot did get a little eh for me.
DC is something I am VERY not okay with. I haven't seen the RWBY/Justice League specials yet, but just from what I read from the RWBY comics, it feels... off. Like, they make Ruby way too edgy with her "baby bird" speech. They just... don't feel like RWBY.
I never played Grimm Eclipse, though I've watched playthroughs now and then (but only for like two characters because the dialogue is all pretty much the same). I played and LOVED Amity Arena, and I am very upset that they didn't continue for some reason. I want to play RWBY Arrowfell, but I can't because it was only for a limited time from a specific website and I was too late to get a physical copy (PHYSICAL MEDIA IS FOREVER, BUY LASERDISK!).
I've heard about the Grimm Campaign, but I haven't seen anything actually physical that can be bought, not even a freaking guidebook. I have Combat Ready! ...but no friends to play it with.
World of Remant was... a thing. I will say that. Which leaves...
The best thing Rooster Teeth has ever made. I remember a video that criticized RWBY Chibi as "a series that uses the main series characters better in every way". Seriously, Rooster Teeth, THIS IS HOW YOU SAVE RWBY! JUST MAKE MORE CHIBI! WHY IS THIS SO HARD FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND?!
