Nuts N' Dolts Week 2023 - Day 8: Fusion

"& This is... Rubenny Blue!!!" - Rubenny Polenrose

Finally. After over a MONTH AND A HALF on this artwork, i FINALLY finished the FINAL drawing for @nuts-and-dolts-week 2023 & oh man, did i have fun with this one.

Since this is a free day, i decided to just go wild with it & embrace my inner-Dragon Ball. In this case, i made a Metamoran Fusion between Ruby & Penny called Rubenny. They normally have short, but fluffy orange hair like our favorite android, but as you can see, Rubenny's hair here is blue.

This is meant to be her "Super Form", as it were. Her True Maiden form: Winter Blue... Or as she calls it, Rubenny Blue. Like i said, i basically embraced my inner-Dragon Ball for this one & i don't regret it.

Ruby Rose Fanmade Designs 2.0

I am taking a long time with redesigning all four girls at the same time, so I'm gonna post one at a time.

This is also a comparison between my old designs from 2021 to show how much I've improved with designing characters.

I took inspiration from her Volume 4 design, because I like the style. I tried to stick with her main color scheme being red and black with a little bit of white/beige.

I drew Renaissance in screenshots from ROTTMNT. I tried really hard to make it look like she actually belongs in the shots, but I think that the first one is the best in accomplishing that. The third one is good too though, not gonna lie.

Btw her gun-bow is based off of the weapon that Vella uses in the fanmade RWBY team SLVR.

UPDATE: All hope is not lost!!!

So, I know a lot of people don't use Twitter because it's a warzone, but I do (for TTTE reasons), and while checking out the RWBY tag, I came across something rather interesting.

So, there is a Youtuber named Dillon Goo, (I'll just call him Goo for short), who used to work on RWBY. I actually follow him on Youtube, and his skills in animation are immaculate. And, on Twitter, he has brought up the idea of him buying the rights to RWBY from WB.

Now, if this were to happen, RWBY would go back into the hands of it's original creators, or most of them anyways. It's very likely that they would return the show back to what it once was and maybe even reboot it with new animation and go back to writing the series the way it should have been written, and not the deviant mess we all have today.

If you all really want the show back, we need to band together and support Goo if he really is serious about buying the rights to RWBY. RWBY!Twitter has already risen up in support of Goo and the former animators of RWBY retaking the show. If you are all in support of this endeavor, you need to do the following:

REBLOG THE FUCK OUT OF THIS FUCKING POST!!!

Seriously! Get the word out there! RT may have disbanded, but that doesn't mean things have to go to shit. I know I said in my last post that we don't need big corps and that at least we'll have fanmade content if RWBY does end (and I still stand by this), but if there's even the smallest chance of saving something dear to you, then it is worth it. If WB is allowed to keep RWBY, then we are in for one heck of a reckoning. And it's one we won't even like.

So to people who want to save RWBY, here is your golden ticket.

Honestly, while RWBY has two fanmade visual novels with TV Tropes pages, both of which are either dating sims or have dating sim elements, I'm honestly surprised no RWBY fan has ever made a visual novel about RWBY's actual harem protagonist: Blake Belladonna.

Like, first of all, if we stick to just her teammates and canon "options", that's five possible routes (Ruby, Weiss, Yang, Sun, and Ilia).

And it's still possible for more options by going off of her other friends (she and Penny have a somewhat shared background, even if they rarely interact in canon, Velvet was created SPECIFICALLY to showcase Faunus suffering, Coco is both a lesbian and an upperclassman, etc), so like...

There's a lot of untapped potential here.

To be honest, I am completely not surprised that RT would do this considering, they have been stealing fanmade content since the very inception.

As someone who has been following the show for a decade and RT content overall bit longer - with RT and RWBY, them just randomly stealing stuff without credit is kind of a given. A lot of their "fresh" ideas can be traced back to either fanworks or popular shows/movies (and they have been a lot more blatant with that in MilesWBY era) . RT since inception has been the embodiment of that "You made this?.... I made this" meme comic.

They are just crass/desperate enough to try to openly enforce that now.

Hey what are your thoughts on Qrow being Ruby's father in the fanmade RWBY:Remnants?

Let's present a scenario.

There are two people who support this theory.

Theorist 1: I acknowledge that Qrow is NOT Ruby's father, but I still like AUs that could present such a theory.

Theorist 2: I still think that Qrow is Ruby's father, and that CRWBY are lying to us. If they're not, its bad writing on their end.

To give a better example of Theorist 2:

Fanfiction , fanart, fancomics...many are created due to desiring AU.

But you have to acknowledge that AU is separate from Canon, and that Canon is the main source.

I have a number of friends who LIKE the qrow is ruby's father theory. Here's why we're friends. They don't insult CRWBY, simply like the ideas as a "What-If".

And I respect them for that.

Here's the problem with RWBY:Remnants.

They don't respect Monty or the writers.

I cannot respect AU projects that insult the writers/staff of a show.

I guess the saying can be "respect the headcanon, hate the headcanoner".

With Projects like these, the issue is that the bad elements are stuck together.

Its like criticism, really. There's good criticism of RWBY out there.

Problem is , that criticism is good-faith criticism.

And its buried under bad-faith criticism.
